Her going through all of the problems but coming out stronger then ever. It was beautifully edited and produced. Taylor swift was not afraid to speak honestly about politics and the messed up society e live in. It made me respect artists lives so much more. Overall it was an excellent move which made me cry, laugh, and dance all in a spam of an hour and 25 minutes. Highly recommend watching it on Netflix. You know you want to Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Miss Americana was a great movie, it shows the ups and downs of a female singer, the problems they face alongside their fame and success, the reality that people aren't equally given the chance to show who they really are, the truth that politics is rigged and the people voting are tricked into something not right. The problem with being a female singer is that you get really any kind of hate even if you did something a male singer would get praise for. Take for instance, Kanye West's Famous was voted on by the media than to support Taylor. They made it look like Taylor is "playing the victim here" but she's not. It just shows that the media, politics, and anyone can brainwash you into thinking something that entirely isn't real. And you can't even deny that Taylor was being bullied, like for instance, Taylor was called skinny even if she just works out to maintain a healthy body, she's been called a snake by everyone even if she was the one being played. She avoided the media for a year because she thought that's what they want for her, to disappear out of the spotlight, that phrase reminds me of "The Lucky One", a song about fame and success, being trapped in it, and forced to disappear just to be free out of all the drama. No one else has been this strong to shout their thoughts out, even if it means that the whole world hates you back and starts an "Over Party" about you. It's good to think that Taylor fought for the greater good. She fought off to claim her masters back, she fought to let politicians pass the Equality Act, she fought to protect women from stalking and violence, but she wasn't heard by all. Women stood by her but everyone else ignored her. The Grammy's snubbed her, the whole world partied over the death of her reputation, they released a song just to take down Taylor's reputation. Male singers would get all the praise over them singing about anything, for example, Eminem gets protection and praise over singing about Ariana's Concert Manchester Bombing but Taylor would be booed and bullied by people when she just sings about her life. The hate female singers receive when they write a friendly song is a lot more than male singers singing about disasters. Taylor puts on a smiling face not because she is happy, she puts it on because a higher up said so. That she should be a good girl, be a nice girl who smiles at the camera and wave. Be a nice girl and don't take part in anything controversial. Don't waste your voice to support something controversial. Be a role model to other people. She did do that, but she was still not understood, she was still being bullied by everyone around her, being put down because people doesn't like someone when they're having a higher position than them. They would pull them down, just to make themselves rise again. They are hungry in power and fame that they have forgotten to respect people. They have become the vile creatures they are today. This situation is related to Taylor and Kanye's Feud. That is all. Expand

Taylor Swift found her voice, her true voice. She was never pretending to be someone she wasn’t but there was so much to her story she held back from everyone. In some part my 'pre-judgment' of Swift's image was not completely wrong, I always saw it as 'forced' in the way of behaving before the media. And in fact - as shown in the documentary itself - she presented herself as a new persona to be liked by the public. I completely understand that the breaking of the mold of 'perfect girl' in pop culture does not happen in the same way for everyone and if it came to Taylor after all these years, I cannot judge her for that. Maybe my contact with other artists who left that label at an younger age, like Britney, X-tina, Miley Cyrus and all the pop girls who already rebelled, made me demand from celebrities like Taylor, a position long before. So, I was a bit back on her. It is always good to see the artist mature and recognize that pop has its strands and each one approaches themes differently. Glad she met and is finally doing what she wants. Expand

It felt naturalMiss Americana gives us our biggest unfiltered look of Taylor Swift yet. It was amazing to see her go from a twangy girl from Pennsylvania trying to make it big to an intelligent icon that won't back down from taking a stance. It felt natural and personal. Some documentaries come off forced and fake while this one feels like Taylor living her everyday life with a camera following her. Some clips seemed a little too jumbled and short but overall it was an amazing film. I only wish that she would've made it a little bit longer, she could've easily had made this 2 hours long if she gave all of the elements in this film more time. Also, Only The Young the song that plays over the credits is very good and is something that will stay on your playlist for quite awhile. Expand

Taylor is the main interview subject and she’s all over. So don’t expect a warts and all sort of thing. In fact, it slides right on over the criticisms against her – we all know the joke of series of boyfriends (no shame; as any person is apt to date a bunch of people in their lives) and others. Swift mostly comes out alright – it shines on a light on her life and balancing living and fame and how cognacent she is on all things. I believe she’s an honest, good person; a very intelligent woman and a hell of a song writer. It does get a bit self-congratulation when it comes to her political stance and voicing her opinion in 2018. She should voice her thoughts – she has a platform and it should be used. But there is a heck of a lot of patting herself on the back. But yes, this was an enjoyable doc and I learned insight on her, although filtered through her. Expand

The way this documentary tackled important topics like eating disorder, politics, her being an ally to the LGBT, sexual assault and etc. Queen activity if you ask me.

She is coming for the hypocrisy of people even in this comment section. Who might want to her to stfu and keep on writing her love songs while. Ifn case she does that she isn't a true artist but if she adds hee political opinions and views she is just trying to be relevant. Lana wilson completely catches the things that people needed to see the side of her we all don't see. Loved it Expand

It was a great way of looking at the behind the scenes of the artist Taylor Swift has become. She’s human, despite people thinking she’s not. I will always support her.

I've found that growing up can mean a lot of things. For me, it doesn't mean I should become somebody completely new and stop loving the things I used to love. It means I've just added more things to my list. Like for example, I'm still beyond obsessed with the winter season and I still start putting up strings of lights in September. I still love sparkles and grocery shopping and really old cats that are only nice to you half the time. I still love writing in my journal and wearing dresses all the time and staring at chandeliers. But some new things I've fallen in love with -- mismatched everything. Mismatched chairs, mismatched colors, mismatched personalities. I love spraying perfumes I used to wear when I was in high school. It brings me back to the days of trying to get a close parking spot at school, trying to get noticed by soccer players, and trying to figure out how to avoid doing or saying anything uncool, and wishing every minute of every day that one day maybe I'd get a chance to win a Grammy. Or something crazy and out of reach like that. ;) I love old buildings with the paint chipping off the walls and my dad's stories about college. I love the freedom of living alone, but I also love things that make me feel seven again. Back then naivety was the norm and skepticism was a foreign language, and I just think every once in a while you need fries and a chocolate milkshake and your mom. I love picking up a cookbook and closing my eyes and opening it to a random page, then attempting to make that recipe. I've loved my fans from the very first day, but they've said things and done things recently that make me feel like they're my friends -- more now than ever before. I'll never go a day without thinking about our memories together. Expand

Whenever huge stars make a documentary about their life, I'm always curious to see which path will they choose when giving viewers behind-the-scenes look. Often times those movies have a very strong self-congratulatory tone. And than God,Whenever huge stars make a documentary about their life, I'm always curious to see which path will they choose when giving viewers behind-the-scenes look. Often times those movies have a very strong self-congratulatory tone. And than God, this documentary couldn't be further away from that.
Taylor offers viewers a look into what she does and how she does it, but more importantly, she shares her life lessons in a hope that they might help someone else on their life journey. She shares some incredibly powerful lessons about body image, sexism, finding you own voice and speaking up for good regardless of the consequences. And it is endlessly fascinating to watch how songs we all know and love are made. Even with all the other revealing moments, watching Taylor in the studio might be my favorite thing in the movie.
This is definitely a fascinating look into a life of megastar and even if you don't consider yourself a fan - give it a go. It is inspiring, touching, funny, thought-provoking, fascinating look into Taylor's life and it is more than an enjoyable watch that I would recommend to everyone.
