I've always been a Taylor Swift fan but it's really great to see her be so honest and upfront about how events throughout her life have affected the way she thinks about things. She gets a lot of hate for speaking up (or not speaking up),I've always been a Taylor Swift fan but it's really great to see her be so honest and upfront about how events throughout her life have affected the way she thinks about things. She gets a lot of hate for speaking up (or not speaking up), dating people (or not dating people), and "playing the victim" but this movie really reminds you that she's a human being just like the rest of us and she's allowed to have valid opinions and feelings about things. I applaud her for allowing such a deep look into her life and her personal values and I hope that her bravery will inspire young people to be more authentic and bold in their lives, as well. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Its hard to fully express my feelings on this documentary, but I will try my best. This documentary starts well, transitions from topics poorly and ends very boorish. I came into this documentary assuming this would give me an inside look into the mind of the immensely talented Taylor Swift, what I felt I got was a basic Wikipedia or Fandom backstory, a list of "supposed" doubters and haters, and a political dog and pony show for her fans of legal voting age to immediately side with and not conduct research on. I'm not saying she cant have this chip on her shoulder, but to an outsider of her fan-base it doesn't justify the need for one and the documentary highlights that fact. I did appreciate her opening up about the sexual assault case and how her emotions felt during that time. However, that was pretty much the only decent part of said documentary. I think the way at the end she felt she was free in a way to express her political beliefs is a hard to believe since she voted twice and was obviously aware of the political landscape during both President Obama's and President Trumps terms. I think if anything this documentary is great for her fans. For non fans or critics of her work it would only add fuel towards their antipathy of her brand and image. If I were to improve this project I would have shortened the amount time given to backstory, allowed more of technical look a the concerts and fan meet and greets, explore the assault case(best part of the entire doc really showed her strength), and explore the critiques of herself and allow her to truthfully address them. I really enjoyed Miss Americana. It offers an honest, vulnerable, relatable insight into Taylors life and shows how her struggles, fights and also her success transformed her into the woman she is today. At this point and with this film II really enjoyed Miss Americana. It offers an honest, vulnerable, relatable insight into Taylors life and shows how her struggles, fights and also her success transformed her into the woman she is today. At this point and with this film I don't understand how anyone still could think of her as a greedy, always playing the victim kind of woman. The topics covered were clearly discussed, old interview parts as well as a lot of old footage were used to build understanding about what happened in recent years and why she went "missing" for a while. I highly recommend this film showing a woman finding her voice in a male-dominated business and world. Expand

It felt naturalMiss Americana gives us our biggest unfiltered look of Taylor Swift yet. It was amazing to see her go from a twangy girl from Pennsylvania trying to make it big to an intelligent icon that won't back down from taking a stance. It felt natural and personal. Some documentaries come off forced and fake while this one feels like Taylor living her everyday life with a camera following her. Some clips seemed a little too jumbled and short but overall it was an amazing film. I only wish that she would've made it a little bit longer, she could've easily had made this 2 hours long if she gave all of the elements in this film more time. Also, Only The Young the song that plays over the credits is very good and is something that will stay on your playlist for quite awhile. Expand

Taylor Swift found her voice, her true voice. She was never pretending to be someone she wasn’t but there was so much to her story she held back from everyone. I’ve always found her music to be mini stories within a song, but after watching Miss Americana I can make sense of the big picture. I find her more inspiring and strong than I ever have before. I will be recommending this documentary to everyone in the hopes of continuing the spark and conversations Swift has begun. Expand

Through the director’s lens I learned that Taylor Swift is exactly who I knew she was: a brilliant, imperfect, funny, brave, strong woman who dealt with adversity in a way most never could. If I was a celebrity, I would want to handle it the way she does - surrounded by her family and people that she loves who keep her balanced and grounded through the highs and the lows. Tremendous film, intriguing subject. I only wish it had been twice as long to dig further into her successes, work ethic and battles. Expand

I've found that growing up can mean a lot of things. For me, it doesn't mean I should become somebody completely new and stop loving the things I used to love. It means I've just added more things to my list. Like for example, I'm still beyond obsessed with the winter season and I still start putting up strings of lights in September. I still love sparkles and grocery shopping and really old cats that are only nice to you half the time. I still love writing in my journal and wearing dresses all the time and staring at chandeliers. But some new things I've fallen in love with -- mismatched everything. Mismatched chairs, mismatched colors, mismatched personalities. I love spraying perfumes I used to wear when I was in high school. It brings me back to the days of trying to get a close parking spot at school, trying to get noticed by soccer players, and trying to figure out how to avoid doing or saying anything uncool, and wishing every minute of every day that one day maybe I'd get a chance to win a Grammy. Or something crazy and out of reach like that. ;) I love old buildings with the paint chipping off the walls and my dad's stories about college. I love the freedom of living alone, but I also love things that make me feel seven again. Back then naivety was the norm and skepticism was a foreign language, and I just think every once in a while you need fries and a chocolate milkshake and your mom. I love picking up a cookbook and closing my eyes and opening it to a random page, then attempting to make that recipe. I've loved my fans from the very first day, but they've said things and done things recently that make me feel like they're my friends -- more now than ever before. I'll never go a day without thinking about our memories together. Expand

It was a great way of looking at the behind the scenes of the artist Taylor Swift has become. She’s human, despite people thinking she’s not. I will always support her.

She managed to rise from the battles life put her through and made it through the same vehicle that made her happy when she was a little girl: music. Her choices, her mistakes let her understand she needed to change to be true to her fanbase, to herself. A beautiful diary of memories that made me very proud of the woman I consider a role model. Well doneTaylor. Expand
