Natalie Hall and Sarah Jes Austell were perfect as the two sisters, Darby Stanchfield killed it as the lead boy's mom (so different from Scandal!), and Jamie-Lynn Sigler was so fun as the debate coach. Also, I want Natasha Dewhurst to play MY best friend - so cute, sweet, and funny. Also, Lily Harrington and Zuzanna S as the diva and the drama teacher - showstoppers. Even the little parts like the hippie girl, the vice-principal, the girls' mom, every woman here was awesome. So much respect for the whole cast (the boys are all amazing too - especially the surprise LGBT romance, which I won't spoil!), but I just can't stop talking about the women in this film. TOO good. More, please!!!!!!!!…Expand

Absolutely loved the performances of the three leads, and the supporting ensemble is filled with slam dunk performances (there's no way you'll recognize child star Jonathan Lipnicki as the kooky kid with the mohawk). While there's a lot of plot packed into the story, the film keeps the pace up, and lands the comedy much more often than not (the drama teacher scenes are hilarious). Amidst the fun stuff, the film also manages to present a really thoughtful portrait of a girl (the lovely Sarah Jes Austell) dealing with depression in a way that I really connected with.…Expand
I watched this film with my niece, and I couldn't get over the fact of how much we both liked it. She'd dealt with bullying a lot in middle school, so when she saw the social media stuff with the actors promoting all this anti-bullying stuff, she asked if I'd watch it with her. She'd dealt with bullying a lot in middle school, so when she saw the social media stuff with the actors promoting all this anti-bullying stuff, she asked if I'd watch it with her. My expectations were not high, but I was so taken aback by how much I liked this movie. The message is great and all the boxes are checked (diverse cast, strong women, recognizable TV stars, etc.), but I really wasn't planning to laugh about it as much as I did. As my niece said, "You don't really expect a funny bullying movie." No, you don't. But I'm glad it exists.…Expand

Glad to see prducer Sara Ramirez giving her fans from Grey's Anatomy the type of content that they've come to respect her for. Loserville has diverse female and LGBTQ characters (a lesbian, a bisexual GUY, and a kid who is open to figuring things out), and it is also great to see multiple Latinx performers onscreen. This film is a good movie to show teenagers because it does have it's heart in the right place without being condescending about it.…Expand
To be upfront, I don't like high school movies, as a general rule, but I'm a Matt McGorry fan, so I decided to watch this anyway. Thought I'd be fast forwarding, but it won me over. Thought I'd be fast forwarding, but it won me over. The characters are all played with a great deal of empathy and humor (McGorry, for example, is the high school gym teacher dating the lead character's mom, played by Darby Stanchfield, and while their "cougar" relationship could be played for laughs, it's instead refreshingly depicted as perhaps the healthiest relationship in the film). There are a lot of plots that get covered, but every actor shows why they're on screen, though the movie starts to rush a bit as it tries to wrap everything up. All in all though, I might have come for McGorry, but I stayed for Stanchfield, Chris Bellant, Natalie Hall, Nick Fink, Jonathan Lipnicki (!!!!!!!!), the list honestly goes on and on. Excited to see what the rest of these up and coming kids do. If you don't laugh at "This is how I hold my newspaper" (you'll see), then you have no soul.…Expand
