An interesting concept with a good lead by Bradley Cooper but Limitless is certainly nothing to be jumping up and down about. The movie by the mid way point was starting to lose steam and the ending was lazy and weak.

Interesting premise that dwindles in creativeness and excitement minute by minute. It is an easy movie to watch, but whether it is worth sitting through is a different story.

The film earns points for its varied cinematography and effects, giving clear distinction between the times when Eddie is experiencing the drugs illumination and not. The plot is a little thin, the ending feels almost tagged on as an afterthought and while Abbie Cornish doesn't really have much to do, Robert De Niro doesn't bring as much gusto as you would expect to his role as the investment kingpin who takes an interest in Eddie's success. A really cool movie with an interesting concept, stylish editing, great cinematography, and an electrifying pace. Still not a Bradley Cooper fan, but he's alright here.

It's stylish, engaging, well cast, well acted, and very fun. Yet you can feel in the back of your mind that the premise wasn't pushed far enough, that it could have been more creative. It's ending is a far bigger problem. It feels abrupt and it's also very murky. You can't be sure what exactly just happened, and not in a purposeful way like Inception either. Still, there's no denying the rush the movie gives you before the crash, and what a rush it is. Who doesn't wish to become a genius millionaire who rules the stock-markets in just a single week? Who doesn't wish they could instantly remember every fight move they've ever seen and actually use them? Despite its obvious shortcomings I still highly recommend it. Expand

I enjoyed this more than the other film of Burger's I've seen--the more recent Divergent. He's decent at science fiction, though he should look for stronger, better constructed scripts in future. Eddie Morra (Bradley Cooper – The Hangover) is a deadbeat writer. His flat is a mess, the rent’s overdue, his girlfriend has given him the boot, his publisher is running out of patience and his hair is all straggly looking. But no wonderEddie Morra (Bradley Cooper – The Hangover) is a deadbeat writer. His flat is a mess, the rent’s overdue, his girlfriend has given him the boot, his publisher is running out of patience and his hair is all straggly looking. But no wonder he’s having such difficulties, like the rest of us buffoons, the buffoon is only using 20% of his brain. Luckily he bumps into his ex brother in law Vernon (Johnny Whitworth – CSI Miami) who has moved on from illegal drug-dealing to illegal pharmaceutical-dealing. Vernon gives Eddie a pill of a drug in development known as MDT that will allow him to use the other 80%. What would a man who could use 100% of his brain be like? What would he do with his enormous mind?

He would get a haircut, figure out how to make loads of money on the stock market, talk his way into the beds of many women and generally be an arrogant so and so. Of course he would. I found that to be a disappointing premise for what a Mr 100% would do with his powers, but perhaps it’s a true and painful insight into the male psyche that all a Limitless man would do is the same as his limited brothers, just more so. You, man out there, hear this: no matter how much of your potential you unlock, you will always at heart be a vain and cruel beast, furthering your own base self-interest at all costs, seeking to dominate your peers and squirt your seed into as many women as you can.

I don 't understand why the film has such high ratings and people like it. A regular thriller, a primitive plot, a delusional happy ending that goes into the incision of the very atmosphere of the film.

A struggling New York writer stumbles across a wonder drug - a kind of super-powerful version of adderall - that allows him to function at a much higher level. So first he dashes off his novel, and then begins to conquer Wall Street - but of course there is a downside. This features possibly my favorite performance by Bradley Cooper. Well directed by Neil Burger - it is slick but never loses its emotional core. Expand

At first when I realised the concept of this movie, I thought it was quite clever and something I hadn't seen before but its main downfall, I felt, was that the main character just seemed too full of himself to be particularly likeable. IAt first when I realised the concept of this movie, I thought it was quite clever and something I hadn't seen before but its main downfall, I felt, was that the main character just seemed too full of himself to be particularly likeable. I suppose men would like him as they may see themselves in his shoes and want to play the role as the all knowing, fast moving, show off type. Also seeing the different female characters swoon over the fact that he's clever did make me think 'oh brother!'. Also the fact that the female characters seemed to be reliant on him to tell them what to do at times, that made me cringe. Perhaps this movie is best left for men?.

Some of the dialogue between him and the big players he tries to big himself up to got rather tedious as well, I felt. At points in the film, its voiced by a narrator (the main actors voice, that of Bradley Cooper) which also oozes smugness, you could say.

I noticed its quite stylised in terms of the colour filters used - I noticed a heavy use of a blue tint, which in a way perhaps adds something to the feeling of paranoia that comes across mid way through the movie - this coupled with some very wonky (or dizziness enducing you could say) camera moves that also help to create a strong feeling of suspense at one or two points.

This is quite a gritty movie, with some big names in the cast, as well as obviously Bradley Cooper there's also Robert De Niro who appears if but fairly briefly, giving a pretty average performance. I'd categorise this as a part science fiction based (in terms of the concept of the drug) drama/thriller and it does feature some suspense although not entirely throughout. Content wise, there are some sexually suggestive scenes (not much is shown but its fairly obvious what their implying is going on), some moderate, bloody violence and strong language and indeed it carries a 15 rating reflecting this.

Overall this movie is alright and I imagine some would find it quite cool and pretty entertaining but it didn't really appeal to me personally. I like the basic premise of the story but its a bit too cocky I suppose and some of the more bland dialogue bored me at times, so im going with a 3 star rating overall, which I think is fair enough.

No I wouldn't recommend this movie as such, although some may quite enjoy it and its fairly watchable, it just didn't really appeal to me. The main character came across as a bit too smug and I didn't like one or two plot aspects, so I wouldn't go out of your way to catch it but others may of course enjoy it more than I did.
