Kill Bill is the best movie I have ever seen! The story is simple as hell but the amazing style, the humour, the characters, and amazing scene after amazing scene left me in awe. This Movie Not only is set up in classic QT world with vibrant colors and Crazy places and characters but it is also one of the best filmed movies I've ever seen. I believe that one of the interesting plot twists to come will be an explanation of O-Ren ISHII's relationship to Bill. How did she become one of Bill's assassins when it is quite clear in the anime scene that it was Bill who I believe that one of the interesting plot twists to come will be an explanation of O-Ren ISHII's relationship to Bill. How did she become one of Bill's assassins when it is quite clear in the anime scene that it was Bill who actually stabbed/killed her father, (the ring on the finger, the embroidery on the sword is identical to that shown in the two two scenes where Bill is speaking in the film) the cosmetic likeness of the anime killer to David Carradine further aludes to this. I would have given it a 9 had i not been so disenchanted that Miramax accountants have pulled a flanker and split what is obviously not by structure a 2 part story into 2 films … Expand

I love this movie. Quentin Tarantino has a pretty twisted mind, but all his corny violence is what makes the movie so great. I loved the anime scene.

Very cool movie. Great Dialogues. Tarantino is my favourite director and even though this film has it's lengths I still enjoy watching this Movie because of the creative way it's shot and all the little details that make this film special.

Waaah! this movie is a great cinema masterpiece, even if the story is not deep enough. I would have given 10 if the movie could have been a little bit more developed. At the end with action that never quite pays off and the film moving by at a brisk pace its hard not to feel a tad ripped off at the end. With the lack of meat or excitement this feels more like a pilot/prologue/teaser for a far more exciting film. Hopefully the next film will pay off nicely. This film isn’t bad and is an interesting experiment for Tarintino but action isn’t his strength. A for effort but C+ for end product. Good idea but not great execution. Let’s see if he improves the second time.… Expand

What I love the most about Tarantino is that each and everyone of his films is unique and well written. Kill Bill is just another gem added to his already stellar filmography. Certainly no shortage of flair and panache, Volume 1 is a super-violent tale of betrayal and revenge. By no means Tarantino's finest work, but you'll be entertained.

Maybe its just me but i find Kill Bill no big deal. performances are pretty good with some descent music but unlike Tarantino's Pulp Fiction the violence is why over the top and funny at the same time. That is not a great mix.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is a bloody good time: lots of fake blood, sword fighting and limbs being cut off. The story is threadbare, but Volume 2 gives us the full story and compliments Volume 1, making it better if you ask me. Ms Thurman's acting was admittedly a bit wooden at times, but when she's good, she's good. That scream at the start, where she wakes up in the hospital? PURE GOLD.

And the MUSIC! Twisted Nerve was... well, to put it lightly, it was irritating. The rest of the music is absolutely amazing; i've saved most of it into a playlist on Youtube. One song in particular stands out: The Lonely Shepard. It sounds like a fusion between East and West, incorporating a flute in to begin with and bringing in guitars and trumpets... It's the most triumphant song I have ever heard. Look it up, NOW.

And the CAST! Uma Thurman brought her best, finally breaking into the lead spot after her part in another Tarantino affair Pulp Fiction. DAVID **** CARRADINE plays the titular Bill. Lucy Liu, who was the hottest thing in the world after the Charlie's Angels movie skyrocketed, plays this movie's "antagonist". Sonny Chiba is by far the most charming character in this film, playing portly little Hattori Hanzo. Michael Madsen is in Vol. 2! No-one brings a cast together like Quentin Tarantino, and I don't care who you are or what you smoke, but that's a fact you can't deny.

On its own, it's a marvelous little gore flick. Watching it again after Vol. 2 brings something completely new to it. You just can't lose, unless you're a Fundy looking for a Boogeyman. Give this movie a go, and if you don't like the blood and swearing, go pick up "Ultraviolet" instead.… Expand

This movie got my attention as a 5 year old kid in 2003 when my dad rented a DVD of this movie. Kill Bill: Vol. 1 is not complicated. It's about a woman going on a revenge driven rampage. Honestly, that's all I ever needed in a movie.

The problem with Kill Bill is that when the bloody deaths get old and the crappy story becomes a bore. The only thing that makes this film decent is the way that Tarantino creates a good old kung fu revenge film.

The simple focus on basic film-and storytelling is humongous -- it’s so stylish! We follow this, from what it looks like in the beginning; an unknown character -- and it takes time to fully understand her. And that specific wait for understanding is rewarded the longer you wait. It’s a pure revenge story that’s full of twists, blood, action & originality in many different forms – all in a stylish and ambitious way. The film got a very great inside to the antagonist, & just the fact that the film is aware of the sometimes very forced moments – well that’s just hilarious! Sure it might not be a very dialog-driven film, and it does lack character depth & development. But ‘Kill Bill’ is still one of Tarantino’s finest.

I was in the middle with this movie. But why a "7" you ask? Because when It comes to Quentin Tarantino you expect more (Something like Reservoir Dogs or Pulp Fiction) in it than others. I enjoyed the second one better than this one but still an awesome movie. Easily the most gory movie I have ever seen, the scene where she fights all of the assassins is great. The scenes were so well staged, however, the music so in sync and the interspersed humor so enjoyable that I cannot say the gore ruined it for me. However, I think there could have been a tad less.… Expand

Tarantino is known for taking an axe to linear storytelling. While it worked well in Pulp Fiction, I think Kill Bill could have been arranged differently, in an order that's a bit more satisfying. Other than that, it's well choreographed, well acted, directed, beautifully shot revenge tale. Paying great tribute to many different genres and filmmakers (the homage to Brian De Palma in the hospital scene is particularly nice) the film is very entertaining, though it's unconventional presentation and over-the-top violence could turn some away.

I think things could have been done to make it better, but Tarantino's passion for film will transcend to any audience member who shares that passion.… Expand

The first Kill Bill movie is an entertaining revenge flick. Though the story is quite basic and nearly uninteresting, the film makes up for it with plenty of stylish action, forceful violence, as well as more than enough bloodshed.

Stylish, Action packed with impressive performances and that Tarantino zing. Kill Bill is truly a masterpiece.

Tarantino lyricizes violence in a groovy rhythm. You'd have to have a strong willpower to not cave into his admittedly derived and catchy style. The writer and director Quentin Tarantino is honoring B grade films. In this phase of his filmography, he, with his multiple times collaborator Robert Rodriguez were just goofing around and securing their childhood memories. Tarantino loves those comic book films, not the superhero ones, but the more simple, revenge based commercial cinema that gives its viewers a cathartic release on a weekend after they are pinned down by the entire world. But this "escaping from reality" film and the aficionado puppeteering this bloodbath show shouldn't be taken lightly.

Grounding the most elaborative action sequences is Tarantino's finest mythological speech soldering the entire activity. In fact, Django Unchained, which is also created with keeping these very comic book stories in mind, doesn't ever fully circles back to that "wham", "bam" or "pow". In this note, Kill Bill (Vol. 1) succeeds majorly. For instance, despite having three dimensional characters and complex "he says, she says" storytelling, the narrator keeps us in check and up to date with all the tracks zooming in front of you.

This film is not a piece of crime cinema about some elaborate heist, but rather a pure action movie. Tarantino places us in a seemingly simple revenge story, but due to the stellar performances of his actors and the non-linear story-telling structure that he has arranged, he is able to create a piece that feels unique compared to any other action movie that I have seen.

This movie certainly feels like a part 1 of a great story (as it is obviously meant to be), but it comes to a fitting enough conclusion and has enough of the puzzle pieces to make this film feel like it can stand on its own. Thurman's performance is fantastic throughout. Other highlights include Lucy Liu as O-Ren Ishii and Sunny Chiba as Hattori Hanzo. Overall, it is very clear that Tarantino set out to capture the mood of a classic kung-fu movie and for the most part I believe that he succeeds. The fight scenes in this film are fantastic and his choice of music is nothing short of iconic. The violence in this film at times feels a tad bit over the top, but that only adds to its charm. However, I will note that this film is not for the feint of heart. If you cannot tolerate the site of blood, this is not the film for you. On its own, this film lacks many of the twists and turns that highlight its successor, however, in total, this film still has a plot that is just complex enough to keep one interested. Don't be fooled though, this half of the two-part Kill Bill saga is far more action/violence first, plot second.

This movie is thoroughly entertaining and contains many brilliant aspects, but at the same time, it doesn't do enough that is revolutionary or completely stellar to warrant a higher score. Overall, if you are a fan of action movies, revenge flicks, kung-fu movies, the grindhouse genre, Uma Thurman, or Tarantino, you will enjoy this movie. What's more likely is that if you are a fan of any of those, you have already seen this.… Expand

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 is, in my opinion, the best film by Quentin Tarantino. He has an excellent story with excellent action and we play a soundtrack that is masterful and one of the best they are. I probably won't say more about that. I recommend.

Tarantino at its finest. He does, literally, whatever he wants in this movie, and the final outcome is almost perfect. There are so many iconic scenes in this movie and I'd say everybody knows at least 3 songs appearing in the soundtrack.

I'm pretty sure this is my favorite Tarantino movie. Don't freak out! I'm not taking away anybody's Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs or Django from them. Those are great movies all in their own right. Those are great movies all in their own right. Easily at least 9's, all of 'em... if not also 10's some of them. However, for me this one hits like no other. It's such a phenomenal amalgamation of so many film subgenres that I love, Kung fu, samurai / ninja, anime (probably the best anime you've ever seen), spaghetti westerns. It's all here, seamlessly integrated into one cohesive Tarantino action movie magnum opus. On paper, transitioning from live action, to anime, to live action, most likely sounds jarring as f***. Yet here it is done so elegantly as to not even detach the viewer from the overall story being told. Every aspect of this movie is perfect. The cinematic shots, the directing, the acting, the choreography, the simple yet intriguing story, the music (shout out to RZA & the 5,6,7,8's), the dark humor, the crunchy sound of cereal being stepped on after a child witnesses the murder of her mother in a kitchen, all executed flawlessly, blended together in a movie production symphony that can only be described as lightning in a bottle. This movie is damn near perfect. Pure movie magic. It's right up there with Jaws and Alien. Much like those movies, I could watch this one over and over again and never get bored. It's neat, it's concise, and it knows what it is... yet it's sprawling, it's complex, and it's so many things all at once. It's easily a 10, and easily in my top 10 films of all time.… Expand

This movie is full of action and cinematic irrealistic violence and alternates moments of great entertainment and moments in which the action becomes an end in itself, excessive and not very funny. This is the worst of the two volumes of "Kill Bill".

I thought the blond girl was called bill the entire time until i watched volume 2. Plus they dont even kill bill anyways. overall id say this movie is a 4. It has cool action but the closeup shots of the blond chicks feet were too much for me and i had to stop watching

overall i give it a 4. Aswell watching a half completed movie isn't good its like micro transactions in movies rather than video games. overall i think a fair raiting for this movie is a 4… Expand
