This movie is so stylish and so fun to watch that you forget its lack of depth. I can honestly say that I was never once bored the whole time watching this movie.
Also, that ending fight scene was amazing.
This is just Tarantino being Tarantino. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

The simple focus on basic film-and storytelling is humongous -- it’s so stylish! We follow this, from what it looks like in the beginning; an unknown character -- and it takes time to fully understand her. And that specific wait for understanding is rewarded the longer you wait. It’s a pure revenge story that’s full of twists, blood, action & originality in many different forms – all in a stylish and ambitious way. The film got a very great inside to the antagonist, & just the fact that the film is aware of the sometimes very forced moments – well that’s just hilarious! Sure it might not be a very dialog-driven film, and it does lack character depth & development. But ‘Kill Bill’ is still one of Tarantino’s finest.

The bride is probably best main character ever created by Tarantino, although here watcher see more of her assasin's side. Violence , mutilation and absurd amount of blood is really shocking and sometimes even funny, which is markablest thing in this pic, and it's very well directed too. Way how story was told in middle of film (in comics) is quite different of everything ever made by Quentin. A fair introduction to plot, which gets better in 2nd part. Expand

Kill Bill Volume 1 is very good, but it's the most bizarre Quentin Tarantino movie because of the stylized Japanese samurai moves, but besides that it's a very good film, way better than the second volume.

It is well paced, beautifully filmed and packs a punch in all the right places...BUT....is all that gore absolutely necessary? I mean how many limbs can be chopped off in 30 seconds? There is blood spraying literally everywhere in this movie and I'm not sure of the point.
The scenes were so well staged, however, the music so in sync and the interspersed humor so enjoyable that I cannot say the gore ruined it for me. However, I think there could have been a tad less.

While it worked well in Pulp Fiction, I think Kill Bill could have been arranged differently, in an order that's a bit more satisfying. Or at least an order that would balance well with Volume 2.

Other than that, it's well choreographed, well acted, directed, beautifully shot revenge tale. Paying great tribute to many different genres and filmmakers (the homage to Brian De Palma in the hospital scene is particularly nice) the film is very entertaining, though it's unconventional presentation and over-the-top violence could turn some away.

I think things could have been done to make it better, but Tarantino's passion for film will transcend to any audience member who shares that passion.

This is just the first half of a long story that did not fit into the standard 2.5 hours of timing. The first part is primarily distinguished by a good tie-up of history, immediately in the first minutes an excellent scene appears. But the first part in the first part was remembered for the magnificently shot scene of the massacre in Japan and the inserts of the anime. This film is not a piece of crime cinema about some elaborate heist, but rather a pure action movie. Tarantino places us in a seemingly simple revenge story, but due to the stellar performances of his actors and the non-linear story-telling structure that he has arranged, he is able to create a piece that feels unique compared to any other action movie that I have seen.

This movie certainly feels like a part 1 of a great story (as it is obviously meant to be), but it comes to a fitting enough conclusion and has enough of the puzzle pieces to make this film feel like it can stand on its own. Thurman's performance is fantastic throughout. Other highlights include Lucy Liu as O-Ren Ishii and Sunny Chiba as Hattori Hanzo. Overall, it is very clear that Tarantino set out to capture the mood of a classic kung-fu movie and for the most part I believe that he succeeds. The fight scenes in this film are fantastic and his choice of music is nothing short of iconic. The violence in this film at times feels a tad bit over the top, but that only adds to its charm. However, I will note that this film is not for the feint of heart. If you cannot tolerate the site of blood, this is not the film for you. On its own, this film lacks many of the twists and turns that highlight its successor, however, in total, this film still has a plot that is just complex enough to keep one interested. Don't be fooled though, this half of the two-part Kill Bill saga is far more action/violence first, plot second.

This movie is thoroughly entertaining and contains many brilliant aspects, but at the same time, it doesn't do enough that is revolutionary or completely stellar to warrant a higher score. Overall, if you are a fan of action movies, revenge flicks, kung-fu movies, the grindhouse genre, Uma Thurman, or Tarantino, you will enjoy this movie. What's more likely is that if you are a fan of any of those, you have already seen this.

El contexto se genera bien poco a poco la secuela te deja satisfecho conforme a historia.

You get Kill Bill Vol 1, the first part of essentially an elaborate revenge, murderous rampage plan of the so-called ex-killer, 'The Bride' Kiddo. In many respects, the violence in some aspects overshoots its intended artistic form and becomes rather disturbing, even for a fully-grown 22 yo male like myself who indulges often in gory video games. Uma Thurman is brilliant and some visual cinematography is brilliant. The homage to Chinese Wu-Shia and Japanese Samurai films will provide nostalgia for many (like myself, who is 1/4 Japanese and 3/4 Chinese) while if you're not really into those types of films, you may be disappointed. Kill Bill Vol. 1 is very much just a violent showcase of bloodlust and dismembering fetish, where you will laugh, grimace, cringe and get high all at the same time. Its an experience, an unique one that's not for the faint-hearted. If you're expecting a crime/mafia revenge tale, this is not the film you're after. If you want to watch a single, Caucasian blondie cut her way through dozens of human beings all in great, bloodthirsty detail with the occasional backstory, this is that film. Kill Bill Vol. 1 is not a movie. Its a visual, bloodfest with chaotic martial arts sequences that at times, just dont feel fluid or flow as well as the the major martial arts blockbusters from China or Japan. Save this for those drunken nights where you have ran out of anime to watch (unlikely), manga to read (even more unlikely) or decent games to play (impossible). Expand

Yes, the blood is very much over-the-top, but my God it is just so beautiful filmed I cannot even be bothered by it. Plus, it is absolutely hilarious the way in which some people die in this film. In addition, the battle sequences are 100% gorgeous. The choreography is amazing and thought out. In the lead role, Uma Thurman is perfectly cast and absolutely kills (heh) her role. On the negative side of things, the dialogue can become a tad cheesy at times and make you roll your eyes that they decided to go with that line. On top of that, the violence, while stylish, can be numbing and the death scenes repeat themselves (i.e. many characters die in the same exact way and you see a similar shot of their death). Finally, the weird anime sequence as we got a character's back story was a turn off for me. It just made the film feel disjointed and felt like a very weird turn that was not really necessary.

Overall, Kill Bill: Vol. 1 is a pretty good film. However, as it is simply half of the final product, it does feel unfinished, so you have to take the fact that it is intended to be the first half of the film into account, which is why I do like this one as much as I do. As a lead-in to the second film, it is very successful as I was left with a burning desire to watch part two almost immediately after finishing this one.

Kill Bill Vol. 1

Tarantino lyricizes violence in a groovy rhythm. You'd have to have a strong willpower to not cave into his admittedly derived and catchy style. The writer and director Quentin Tarantino is honoring B grade films. In this phase of his filmography, he, with his multiple times collaborator Robert Rodriguez were just goofing around and securing their childhood memories. Tarantino loves those comic book films, not the superhero ones, but the more simple, revenge based commercial cinema that gives its viewers a cathartic release on a weekend after they are pinned down by the entire world. But this "escaping from reality" film and the aficionado puppeteering this bloodbath show shouldn't be taken lightly.

Grounding the most elaborative action sequences is Tarantino's finest mythological speech soldering the entire activity. In fact, Django Unchained, which is also created with keeping these very comic book stories in mind, doesn't ever fully circles back to that "wham", "bam" or "pow". In this note, Kill Bill (Vol. 1) succeeds majorly. For instance, despite having three dimensional characters and complex "he says, she says" storytelling, the narrator keeps us in check and up to date with all the tracks zooming in front of you.

Also, every single character is given a proper introduction, a stylish survey and slick one liners or quality to boast off. Take Lucy Liu's storyline for a moment. If she is described, when she is described, the character isn't bogged down by one emotion and isn't showcased like a bad guy. If she assassinated a president, then he isn't portrayed good enough for you to remove yourself apart from her. This is how Tarantino keeps in touch with his audience. He understands what the viewers might feel and would like to feel while going through an array of colorful destruction.

Kill Bill: Vol. 1 is, in my opinion, the best film by Quentin Tarantino. He has an excellent story with excellent action and we play a soundtrack that is masterful and one of the best they are. I probably won't say more about that. I recommend.

It was ok. For an action film it was rather over the top, A little too over the top for my taste. Yet the plot was interesting but a little poorly executed, Which is suprising from Tarantino. I expected better.

Certainly no shortage of flair and panache, Volume 1 is a super-violent tale of betrayal and revenge. By no means Tarantino's finest work, but you'll be entertained.

This movie is full of action and cinematic irrealistic violence and alternates moments of great entertainment and moments in which the action becomes an end in itself, excessive and not very funny. This is the worst of the two volumes of "Kill Bill".

Maybe its just me but i find Kill Bill no big deal. performances are pretty good with some descent music but unlike Tarantino's Pulp Fiction the violence is why over the top and funny at the same time. That is not a great mix.

Kill Bill is a very silly written film, not to mention it has no reasoning for its sustained violence unlike most of Tarantino's films.

The problem with Kill Bill is that when the bloody deaths get old and the crappy story becomes a bore. The only thing that makes this film decent is the way that Tarantino creates a good old kung fu revenge film.

Sadly i don't really think this film ever clicked with me. I can see some good dialogue but i think at times the acting soundtrack and direction can at times make the film seem to comic-like and it just takes away from me. The fight sequences are pretty incredible and some shots are well made but this film seems like a sour taste sadly in my mouth.

I thought the blond girl was called bill the entire time until i watched volume 2. Plus they dont even kill bill anyways. overall id say this movie is a 4. It has cool action but the closeup shots of the blond chicks feet were too much for me and i had to stop watching

overall i give it a 4. Aswell watching a half completed movie isn't good its like micro transactions in movies rather than video games. overall i think a fair raiting for this movie is a 4

In this film, the first of two, the Bride, betrayed and abandoned to die by her groom, Bill, get her revenge route. Directed and written by Quentin Tarantino, the film stars Uma Thurman and David Carradine.

This is a film that can be good, but definitely is not for me. I like some of Tarantino's films, but definitely I cannot understand this one.

The performance of the actors is regular, the special, visual and sound effects are very good and the soundtrack, given the circumstances, is interesting. The main problem of this film is the non-linear narrative. This option simply does not fit in the film and makes it more confusing than it would be in a conventional narrative. Its an artistic resource, undoubtedly innovative, but that should be used when not hinder the understanding of the public. The public has to understand the movie, and it does not happen here. A person who knows nothing about this film, which has never read anything about it, don't understand it, and discards it.

The film's screenplay is interesting, although it has been virtually copied from another movie ("Lady Snowblood"). But despite the basic idea is good (the bride betrayed by her groom, abandoned and nearly murdered in his own marriage), the way the film develops it is quite negative. First of all, the film doesn't explain Bill's reasons. Surely he didn't wake up that day with a sudden urge to kill the bride, and this lack of rational explanation makes the situation far-fetched. Another problem of this film is the illogical manner it displays and mixes raw action scenes, western scenes or Japanese scenes. From a certain point, the film seems made with pieces of film found in a garbage dump. There is no logic in the way the film shows it.
