Though its meta-heavy plot gets tiresome after a while, Jay and Silent Bob Reboot is a successful return to form for Kevin Smith. Though it’s a bit rough around the edges, all involved clearly came to have fun and that infectious energy is palpable for the entire runtime. Smith has every right to be older and wiser here, and Jay and Silent Bob Reboot, with its gentle anarchy and not-quite-mock nostalgia, is a time-machine sequel that passes the time amiably enough. It is a love letter to all kevin smith films including zach and miri make a porno. It's a love for pop culture he knows his stuff.

Not the best nor the worst movie Kevin Smith has ever made. It is extremely fun and has lots of call backs for his movies and pop culture generally. As I said about Woody Allen and it's not that there's a comparison point between the two, Kevin Smith is also a director who's long run out of ideas and the talent for saying something contemporary or valuable.

I'm very surprised that he's still getting financing.

This movie is nothing but a poor attempt at cashing in on nostalgic 40-something ex-stoners who never outgrew peepee jokes. Most of the movie is a rehash of old "Strike back" scenes, and every little bit that's new feels tacked on for padding. Friends of HQ Smith's character are a weak blandThis movie is nothing but a poor attempt at cashing in on nostalgic 40-something ex-stoners who never outgrew peepee jokes. Most of the movie is a rehash of old "Strike back" scenes, and every little bit that's new feels tacked on for padding. Friends of HQ Smith's character are a weak bland addition in order to "diversify" the cast, who weren't given any depth and felt as unnecessary as the whole movie. Almost every actor delivers subpar performance diluted by some good cameos. Rosario Dawson's appearance was a breath of fresh air which made it heartbreakingly dull to keep watching "Reboot" after returning to Mewes and Smith's characters. During one scene, heroes visit a half-abandoned mall with Jason Lee working there as a comic book shop manager which feels like a metaphor for Jay and Silent Bob: Reboot. The only things you'll find here is unfunny nerdy jokes made by fifty year old dudes trying their best to prove they're still cool. So best heed to the warning Smith thought he so cleverly referenced and KEEP OUT! DEAD INSIDE.… Expand

HUGE fan of Mallrats/Chasing Amy/Dogma and even Zack and Miri. This movie just wasn't funny. Watching these two 40 something year olds try the same schtick that was funny when they were 20 somethings is painful.
