This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

You're thrown into a mess that's boring, rambling, and over-the-top. This movie only served to complement the Iron Man arc and introduce War Machine.

All the while he continues to face issues with his own failing health and a US government intent on purchasing his technology. Los villanos entretienen y son malos desde el principio, no como Jeff Bridges, que su arco estuvo muy apresurado. Introducen a Black Widow y Nick Fury de manera correcta. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a great movie, not as good as the first iron man though. Before writing this i completely forgot what the main villain of this movie even was. Whiplash was not a great villain and in my opinion is the only thing dragging this movie down. I would not think this would be better than the first one with a better villain, unless it would be absolutely perfect. Great movie, just not that good when compared to most other marvel movies, even just the first iron man movie. Expand

Obviously I knew the next movie was, once again, an Iron Man movie. And since I really enjoyed Iron Man, I was obviously going to like this one too. But the reviews and ratings were saying this is a horrible movie. So after I gave a view myself, the first question that came to my mind was - "So why does everyone hate it? This was awesome!".

Iron Man 2 takes places exactly from where Iron Man left off. And that's actually for the better since it doesn't have that "while you weren't watching our hero has done all this" BS. Many people, most specifically Justin Hammer, are questioning about Iron Man's ethics and morals, and as to how he decides whether something is right ot wrong. They are quickly squashed down over which they get deeply offended, as they deserve to be since such people only think about everything emotionally. The movie also has a cameo appearance of Elon Musk, showing the stark similarity (pun intended) between a fictional hero and a real life businessman.

The movie makes us see all the things that a world famous billionaire will have to face after becoming a superhero and still trying to live the same kind of life as he did before. He goes to the F1 racecar tournament, Ivan attacks him. He tries to party, Rhode stops him. No one sees the fact that he's literally dying. The Arc Reactor that he proudly wore and basically became a symbol of Iron Man is the same thing which is slowly killing him. Being the rich, spoilt brat that he is, he chooses to mess around because he knows he will not live long, and that's why he uses the suit to have a party, or drives in an F1 race. And in spite of being in such a big mess he never lets anyone around him, including himself, be serious about what is going through him.

The CGI of this movie is just as good, if not better, than the prequel. Every time I saw Iron Man and War Machine fly around and fight I always wonder how did they possibly shoot those scenes. Seeing Iron Man in the beginning of the movie jumping from the sky and landing in the expo is also very original, just like Iron Man eating a donut or partying wearing his suit. Robert Downey Jr's acting is also phenomenal. He looks like he perfectly enters the character every time he is out of his suit.

One thing I often see people complain about is that this movie has too many plots and thus it is hard to keep track of. I didn't feel any such thing. There was too much going on and yet I didn't even realise that until I was told about it. That's how nicely I believe it has strung all the plot points together. Another criticism that people give to this movie is that it feels like a filler to set up future MCU movies. This is kind of contradictory to the first complaint, and also that's literally what almost all MCU movies do. Cherrypicking this one is kind of hypocritical.

However, there are a couple of things I don't like about this movie. First of all the audio quality. Even at full volume most of the conversations are barely audible. I couldn't even listen to how Iron Man goes to the bathroom with the suit on. Secondly it introduced the MCU character I hate the most - Black Widow. Throughout the movie she kept doing the same thing I hate her for: She keeps doing somersaults and X-scissors and beats entire bunch of people without taking a single hit. I looked up on Wikipedia to check if plot armour is one of Black Widow's superpower, but it turns out it's not.

I'm gonna be honest here. I had forgotten this movie and only remembered the good parts. So I watched Cinemasins to write this review. And yet I can't be convinced that this is a bad movie. Look, I'm a simple man. I see Iron Man, I get excited. There's no loophole in this.

Robert Downey Jr. is just as entertaining in the lead role, while the specials efforts are again pleasing. The score, which I found slightly lacking in 'Iron Man', is improved. The plot isn't as interesting, or all that creative, but it's done well enough that I didn't ever feel bored; though some of the pacing is off.

I like Don Cheadle so it's good to see him come in, even if his character is rather forgettable. Scarlett Johansson is also a solid addition, though Sam Rockwell didn't do anything for me in his role. Mickey Rourke is fun enough as Ivan.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

With an amazing film like 'Iron Man', this thought went through everyone's heads. And they were right. 'Iron Man 2' is a good film, but it doesn't live up to its predecessor, and it's the weakest of the trilogy. Taking place 6 months after the first film, Tony Stark is dealing with his future demise from the palladium in his arc reactor and the government trying to take his suits away. At the same time, Russian scientist Ivan Vanko is seeking revenge on Stark to pay for what his father did to his family. As I said, 'Iron Man 2' is a good film, but it's not great.

The performances are decent, particularly Robert Downey Jr. Tony Stark isn't much different from the previous film, which isn't a bad thing. He's still comedic and entertaining to watch on screen. Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), now the CEO of Stark Industries, is more annoying in this film than in the first 'Iron Man' film. She's a more irritable character, and part of the reason I think that is is because she has a higher position and becomes more frustrating because of it. Don Cheadle has a surprising take on Rhodey that I enjoyed. I didn't know anything about his character before the first film, but he was entertaining to watch. This was also the introduction of War Machine, which was teased in 'Iron Man', and he was just as badass as Iron Man in this film. The introduction of Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) was also interesting. I didn't expect to see her character in the film mainly because I didn't think her introduction would have been in an Iron Man film. But she was very fun to watch, particularly because of the Hammer Industries fight scene during the Battle at Stark Expo. The characters/performances I didn't enjoy included Justin Hammer and Ivan Vanko/Whiplash. Hammer (Sam Rockwell) was a similar but very different character from Samuel Sterns in 'The Incredible Hulk'. Like Sterns, Hammer is very annoying, and the way Sam Rockwell delivers his lines is pretty unbearable to listen to. And watching him dance during his presentation at Stark Expo makes me cringe every time. He's an incredibly socially awkward character, and it's not a very good portrayal. While Mickey Rourke gives a better performance as Whiplash (mainly because he doesn't speak a whole lot), he's not a very good villain. While his abilities are cool, that's really all there is to him. You feel no sympathy for his character at all. The best villains are one you can sympathize with. There isn't much to say about Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) or Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau) because they weren't in it that long, which is disappointing because I really enjoy their characters. And I like Happy Hogan, so even though he had larger roles in 'Iron Man 3' and 'Spider-Man: Homecoming', I wish there was more for him to do in this film than ram a car into Whiplash several times.

As for the action sequences and visual effects, they're just as good as the first film if not better. The Battle of Stark Expo was a great final battle that was fast-paced and easy to follow.

The music score is decent, particularly Whiplash's theme, but out of the Iron Man trilogy, it's the weakest. The score isn't memorable, and it's disappointing that Marvel Studios doesn't seem to like thematic continuity.

I think my main issue with this film is some of the new characters like Justin Hammer and Ivan Vanko. They're not very fun characters to watch, and they don't get to deliver any really good lines, which is very important for villains to do.

Due to Infinity War coming out in four months, I've decided to rewatch the MCU universe in order. Here is my review:

I watched this movie directly after Iron Man 1. I think that could have hinged the rating. Although I believe this movie is good, I was looking for more character building. Since the first one was action packed, I wanted to learn more about Tony Stark or even Potts. This movie had great acting, but could not live up to the first one due to a story that had multiple climaxes with unappealing solutions. Even though that seems harsh, I truly did love the movie. That is why I am rating this sequel a perfect 7. Other words... It was perfectly above average. Everyone should see if they are a Marvel fan. - JH

That said, while the sequel isn't as good as the first, "Iron Man 2" is still an extremely entertaining adventure overall. Even if the writing is a bit weaker than the first film, "Iron Man 2" benefits greatly from Robert Downey Jr.'s electric performance, an array of fine performances from his supporting cast, some solid visuals and impressive action overall. Don't expect it to be groundbreaking, but "Iron Man 2" is certainly an exciting adventure that superhero fans should enjoy. Expand

When the film is over, the viewer has that "this wasn't enough" feeling. Iron Man 2 sets up future story arcs for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, however, the film is simply too crammed for IRON MAN 2 to be as intriguing as it's predecessor. Iron Man 2 is certainly a letdown, and for sure not as "spectacular" as 2008's Iron Man, but that is not to say that the movie is not enjoyable. Robert Downey Jr. still serves us perfectly as Tony Stark! Again, there is no one that can play Tony Stark better than Robert Downey Jr, Period. He, along with Don Cheadle as James "Rhodey" Rhodes, who also serves us perfectly in his respective role, make Iron Man 2 worthy of a positive review. Expand

Robert Downey Jr's health problem throughout made for an interesting basis for a conflict, as it isolated him while also providing opportunities for personal reflection and growth on his part. The back story with his father was also a neat opportunity to explore Robert Downey Jr's character, while the introduction of Scarlett Johansson's character gave him a good reason to argue with Gwynaeth Paltrow and develop that romantic interest. I thought there was a good pace and a lot of action, and I always really enjoy the planning scenes where he's tinkering in his workshop--the special effects for all the displays are visually engaging, and some of the best banter is between Robert Downey Jr and his computers. Also, this movie has really good villains--the Russian villain is menacing in his efficacy, and he has a great foil in the inept and utterly detestable CEO who's hired him to try to ruin Stark. Overall I thought this was a solid addition to the franchise. Expand

The things that really impress me is the great CGI, the opening scene, the music and the great action of Tony Stark's Iron Man. The movie truly is entertaining and cool to watch, even though there might have been a little to much (and boring) conversations between the actors, and that the amount of action was lower than the in the first Iron Man film. Iron Man 2 also felt more unserious than the previous movie.

Not as entertaining as the first Iron Man, but it's great to watch!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie was nowhere near as good as the first one. First of all, I hate when they replace main characters in movies. I understand that it's not necessarily the fault of the film but replacing Terrance Howard with Don Cheadle affects the feel of the movie; similar to when they replaced Katie Holmes with Maggie Gylenhaul in Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy. Also, a technology that was pushed to be so incredible and impossible to replicate in the first installment is thrown around in this movie like if it's no more rare than an std. Lastly, similar to the first film, there were some huge plot holes. If a villain's weapons are a sort of lasso, wouldn't common sense tell you to just fire on him from outside of the lasso range? I would certainly think a genius like Tony Stark would be able to figure that out. Also, if you access the main computer and can reset the War Machine, why couldn't you also reset the others? Nonetheless, Robert Downey Jr. once again proves to be a top notch actor in Hollywood and the movie's transition to the "Avengers" adds some excitement to an otherwise quick and overrated ending. Still, I was a little disappointed. Expand

Iron Man 2 is funnier, louder and provides a lot more explosions. Nevertheless, Jon Favreau doesn't leave good performances and a proper screenplay out. Additionally, the technics and the FXs are great, which helped the movie to become as awesome as it is. My critic point is that too many things in this film are unrealistic and as in Iron Man, there are a lot of so-called “Cinema Sins” like stupid dialogues, obvious goofs or simply illogicality. That is quite an issue, but doesn't prevent this movie from being an even better superhero-movie than the original. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Iron Man for me was something I was looking forward to, but I wasn't necessarily jazzed about it. It was a pretty good though, and it actually might be my 2nd best comic book origin film, next to X Men First Class. So going into this sequel to Iron Man, I kind of felt the same way, I was looking forward to it, but I wasn't super stoked about it. But let me tell you, I think you might be somewhat shocked about this, but I think Iron Man 2 is actually a bit better than Iron Man. I won't say everything that is better than Iron Man, but I will say parts in the middle of Iron Man dragged for me. Not that the movie was too long, but for some reason it dragged in the middle for me. Now getting on with Iron Man 2, Tony Stark in this sequel haves three main things going against him. The government wants Tony's suit, Tony's health condition is getting worse, and than there's a mysterious man that seems to feel wronged by Tony's actions from the 1st movie. As far as the villians in this movie, I feel Mickey Rourke as the villian in this movie is the strongest performance just behind Robert Downey Jr. This time there seems to be less action in this one. The plot though is good and there's good character development. The cgi and action in this is great. The only real flaw in the movie is I thought Ivan Vanko could have used a few scenes in the middle of the film. Also the last encouter when Ivan uses his ultra suit at the end, went a bit too fast. Overall I thought this movie was great and funny. Compared to Iron Man, I give that an 8.2 out of 10, and I give Iron Man 2 an 8.4 out of 10 Expand

Iron Man 2 isn't made better by the inclusion of Don Cheadle, but it doesn't suffer either. Cheadle creates his own take on Rhodes/War Machine. There are few actors that can step into a role they didn't originate and not screw it up. I consider IM2 one of the pleasing exceptions of recasting. Kudos. Expand

This is a very good movie. I don't think it has the great story of the first one. But I'm going to say it's better just because this one has more fight scenes and is more exciting.

Great follow up of the first Iron Man. Tony Stark is yet again well portrayed by Robert Downey Jr. and the cast got a really nice add from the Avengers (yes, I'm pointing out Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow). I was a bit disappointed with the first movie and to be honest, I think this sequel is better. Great special effects and Mickey Rourke was fantastic as well as Robert Downey Jr. who was as energetic as always.

It is not as good as the first, but for a fun summer blockbuster, you can't go wrong with Iron Man 2. Expand

Complete action-packed, great characters interest, and interludes with effective humors. Tony Starks is an eccentric, self-centered (even sometimes looks childish) but genius multi-billionaire who builds Iron Man suit. Thiz time, he faced health issue and ready to confront another threads from his business rival, Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) and mysterious Whiplash (Mickey Rourke). In the first Iron Man two years ago, I said to everyone that Tony Starks was too humanist on the movie, that was wrong. Starks should be appears more **** to fill his original character (If you asked me thiz kind of stuff, well, comics was my world. I remembered my dad bought me first Iron Man issue from overseas). But on thiz sequel, Iron Man character really fills my expectations. Robert Downey Jr. acted amazingly well, continues his first exhilarating performance. The most powerful element in Iron Man movies is definitely Downey Jr. Mickey Rourke is our other attention after his Oscar-nominated THE WRESTLER (2008). He is playing save on his villain-character and it looked well. On the fight scene, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow was surprisingly kick-ass. I did not know was the camera angle or the fight choreography which made it worked, but Johansson really left behind her girly image. Unfortunately, I do not like Nick Fury character (Samuel L. Jackson) which reconstructs from Fury original character. Other Casts were: Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle, etc. The movie directed by an actor who luckily thrived on thiz franchise, Jon Favreau. Some of his Directing credits were ZATHURA: A SPACE ADVENTURE(2005) and the comedy ELF (2003). It is almost very difficult to say thiz movie is not a good one. Apparently it is an excellent and entertaining movie for everyone. Cannot wait for another Starks Expo!
