Despite Herzog’s efforts to keep it as entertaining as possible, “Inferno” does feel like it overstays its welcome a bit. That being said the access and footage they’ve compiled coalesces into a truly cinematic experience. One that would be hard for anyone else to even fathom attempting to duplicate. Read full review

Into the Inferno may be relatively minor Herzog — it’s sweet and rambling rather than laser-bolt intense like "Fitzcarraldo" or "Grizzly Man." But it is enormously satisfying, filled with wisdom, insight and molten lava. Read full review

I admit it felt a bit conventional, but it gets you immersed and it's fascinating. Those are crucial elements of any documentary, especially considering that what Herzog seeks to do is not to flood you with a cascade of knowledge, but he wants you to appreciate in detail the point he'sI admit it felt a bit conventional, but it gets you immersed and it's fascinating. It’s not the best Herzog but I can listen to him talk about grass grow. The best parts are when he talks to the locals who live by and are affected by volcanoes constantly.
