For me "INTERSTELLAR" is second best Nolan's movie, after Dark Knight. Great storyline and peak drama.

Space, Christopher Nolan and Hans Zimmer, brilliant combination! This is one of those movies which will make you feel so many emotions that you are left empty when the movie is over and you end up asking yourself the question: What did I just watch?

The distance between two hearts are so very very deep and pure of connecticity. We are so proud in heaven, not on the new planet. We must not be sad about the crysis. Fight back with the science is the best part

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

The story is great (though there are a few plot holes) and really well written and the acting (especially Matthew McCarthy , with one exception, was great. I think what really makes this film stand out is the fact that the science and the ideas of the movie are real (and a bit over exaggerated like climate change is in real life by scientist and the incredibly annoying hypocrite, Greta Thumberg). The ending is good though it doesn't really make much sense. one criticism I have for this movie is Anne Hathaway. She didn't really act out her character well, she felt really rude at times and wouldn't shut up about love, even after the guy she loved tried to kill them. She's not a bad actress, but yikes, in this film...not too great. Another criticism is that there is very little action and a lot of, just aimless flying through space. Expand

The amazingly written characters mixed with the beautiful enviroments are enough to create good story-telling. There were moments where I just sat, with a clenched up fist, worried, stressed and curious at the same time. And of course I cannot forget about the music that was made by Hans Zimmer which preety much means 10/10 from the beggining to the end. In conclusion, Interstellar is a amazing piece of a movie that everyone should give a watch. The story might get a little bit confusing at the end though. It it a solid 90% from me! Expand

And with that comes what you would expect, scenes that raise questions like "What's going on?" and "What am I even looking at!?" But the main difference between '2001' and 'Interstellar' is in '2001' you will leave the film with several questions. Questions that are complicated and genuinely intriguing, questions that may never get answered. In 'Interstellar' however you will get answers for almost everything. Meaning for the most part you don't have to think too hard because probably very soon it will all make sense. I enjoyed Interstellar quite a bit, and some of the shots are absolutely gorgeous. But I don't go back to rewatch films because they looked pretty. I go back because those questions are eating away at the back of my brain asking, "Did I miss something?" And I did not get that with Interstellar. You should absolutely watch the film though. It's quite the ride! Remember '2001' is iconic, considered one of the greatest films of all time even. It's no insult to call Interstellar a '2001' of the modern day. If anything, it's the highest compliment I could pay it. Expand

Almost never, I don’t think I ever have on here before that’s for sure. This is quite simply Nolan’s masterpiece, it is a highly complex, multi layered sci-fi story that handles complexities like time, gravity and dimensions, and our increasingly perilous fate on Earth and where that might lead. It weaves all of it into a tale of love and family, and about humanity. There is no point trying to outline the plot: it requires watching multiple times to truly understand it and appreciate this movie. The first time I watched it, I thought it was good. Now on third watch I understand why it has come to be regarded as one of the best movies ever made by many. Expand

The superior visuals, the outstanding performances, its very excellent soundtrack, the very good screenplay, the great and sentimental story and the movie is very good compared to Inception (also by Nolan). The scene that I liked the most in the whole movie is when Cooper abandons his daughter Murph when he leaves to fulfill the mission and when Cooper and Amelia Brand travel to the afterlife in space, seriously, those scenes really surprised me and It is the one that I loved the most in the movie, a 10 out of 10 for those scenes. Being very clear, I think that the story is my point of discussion of the film, although it is very sentimental, although it has some holes in the script, but little by little the story is understood and you get used to it very well and the film is not the disappointing, although it is not the one I enjoy the most (the one I enjoy the most is The Dark Knight (2008) also by Christopher Nolan). No offense to the 2014 movie, it's like a modern "2001: A Space Odyssey" and Nolan's movie is one of the best he gave us that year. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's called Nolan's movie it's been a great movie since the trailer came out. Personally, I've watched almost every Nolan movie and enjoyed every single one I've ever seen because I like sci-fi movies, space makes me like interstellar, and in movies there are many aspects of interpersonal relationships but it's the uncomplicated relationship that keeps the movie's main focus on science. The concept of the movie is quite different from the others that I've ever seen. The relationship between time, black holes, technology of the future. It's something I never thought it would have but it is a science that is not so complicated that it makes people look confused. The story is explained and contributed to the audience to think for themselves. The movie tells of a world inhospitable due to plant diseases. Force former NASA astronaut Cooper to explore new stars to keep humanity alive. In this movie I loved the scene where a group of astronauts landed on a planet for about half an hour but when they come back the earth has been passed for many years. I find it very interesting to play science with time because there is such a thing in the real world and the scene where Cooper falls into a black hole I feel sparkling. Although in fact we don't know exactly what will happen if we enter a black hole. All of this makes it my favorite sci-fi movie of the year and I'll go back and watch it often. Anyone who is worried that they will be confused by the story or not understand can watch it at all because the texture is not complicated and when solving the clue, everyone will feel very sparkling eyes. I want everyone to open their minds and this movie is sure to be a sci-fi movie that's in everyone's heart. Expand

Actual **** apes who run this silly ahh website full of fat ass nerd who can't even see past their bellies when they wake up in the morning, the amount of fungus and popcorn under those **** chin and stomach roles would help starving children eat, and even then they still would give interstellar something other than 74. I'm honestly not shocked that you people didn't like the movie, I just know you were lost in confusion before they even left the atmosphere. But I bet you guys got really excited when they brought up cornfields until you have more corn stored under your rolls than they have on the entire planet. I now want to review the movie using a 3 act structure. Act 1 (Exposition-Inciting Incident) Act 2 (Midpoint-Rising Action) Act 3 (Climax-Denouement). We are introduced to our Main Character 'Cooper' played by Academy Award Winning Actor Matthew McConaughey, a farmer born in the wrong generation, grew up through many life-altering and developing world issues, being a previous Nasa Astronaut, settles down with his family where he becomes a father of two, his daughter 'Murph' played by Mackenzie Foy. And his son 'Tom' played by popular actor Timothée Chalamet. Without being shown on screen it is shown it is hinted that the mother of the two died. That introduces the Co-Parent to Cooper 'Donald' played by Golden Globe winner John Lithgow. It is also told that he is the father to the mother of Cooper's children. Eventually, Cooper ends up on a mission to a different galaxy to hopefully find a life-sustaining planet. Act 1: Act 1 (just like every act in this film) is an undisputed masterpiece, it starts out the film trickling with minor little problems, Murph getting into trouble at school, sand storms, and slowly losing all food resources year by year. But our first lead up to the 'Inciting Incident' is when a sandstorm occurs and they are forced to retreat home, when reaching home Murph is quick to realize she had left her window open, Cooper and Murph quickly head up to her room to not only discover sand all over her room but sections of gravity that seem to be spelling something out in binary. It's revealed to be coordinated to a hidden NASA base which Cooper and Murph Decide to head to, but are quickly taken in for questioning. When brought in it is discovered that an old friend of Coopers 'Dr. Brand' played by Academy Award-winning actor Michael Caine. This is when Dr. Brand introduces us to our 'inciting incident' Dr. Brand reveals he has been trying to find a way to bring the entire planet to space without killing everyone, and bettering human life, but he does not have the means to do the equation, so plan b is to enter a wormhole and enter a new galaxy, to find a planet that is suitable for human life. This is when Act 2 begins. Cooper is told that a team of people was sent to the galaxy to study and find the best planet, but all had lost contact with Earth. Cooper is given a new mission to go to this galaxy, find the best planet, and start the new human race. He accepts the mission and leaves his family. Murph is heartbroken and angry at her father for this. But that does not stop Cooper from doing the greater good. I got bored don't feel like finishing whole review Metacritic sucks, Christopher Nolan is the goat, bye-bye Expand

Ultimately this film is an exercise in self-indulgence and hubris. Matthew McConaughey is in full-on, wide-eyed mumble mode for most of the film, and as others have mentioned, the dialogue is already muffled.
There are plenty of ponderous shots of spaceships spinning, lens-flares on strange, alien worlds, and far too much emotive crying for this type of film. Yes, literal crying.
The wise-cracking robot is completely incongruous with the tone, as if the robot dialogue were re-dubbed after test screenings. Many of the special effects are shoddy—especially the spacecraft modeling. Anne Hathaway is badly miscast as a boundary-pushing scientist/astronaut. The plot makes little to no sense. Worse, the implication is we will be so impressed by the prettiness, emoting, earnestness and quantum mumbo-jumbo we will not care that it makes no sense.
To some extent this all works. Many of the beats will seem familiar to lovers of existential sci-fi. There are a couple moments of genuine tension. But it’s all been done before, and with more technical expertise, cleverness, and humility.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Interstellar is a splendid, questionning and touching movie. It certainly has to deal with some problems as the scientific validity and its duration. But all things considered we can easily admit the casting is awesome (including the overall great acting skills), the plot develops itself crescendo and with suspense, every scene is beautiful and eventually the soundtrack that accompanies us throughout the movie is just excellent. I would like to take some time to thank Hans Zimmer for existing. (I actually wanted to make a review of the soundtrack album but I guess Metacritic prefers to rate some muddy indie, pop and rap albums.) Lighting is gorgeous. All these arguments constitute the reason why I love Interstellar.

Every character is lovable and has a goal easily understandable by the public. It is for example easy to follow Murphy's growth and evolution with crucial events after others. The movie bonds characters between them and makes it interesting, sometimes emotional and sometimes coldly rational. Even if the ending is wide open (and just incomprehensible and frustrating for some) we can't deny the journey we made with each main character, just as long as the travel made by Cooper and his team through time and space.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is an immersive watch. Its quite intriguing, although a bit bleak, philosophically speaking. It, unsurprisingly, features good CGI and its quite gripping at times, although I felt frustrated by the quite frequent whispery/mumbled dialogue, this makes it hard to follow whats being said at times. I suppose the film is about hope, though I'd also say its about determination and isolation. The dialogue is a little cheesy at times, with one line I remember being "love is the only thing capable of transcending time and space'. A more notable quote, I thought, was 'out survival instinct is our greatest source of inspiration'. Suffice to say, this is not a light watch(!), thus its a bit hard to follow fully but I'd be lying if I said it doesn't have anything going for it. There are some plot twists and near the end I did feel a bit let down a bit, in as much as I can't say I felt what happened was entirely believable? also it didn't surprise me this is a Christopher Nolan film, given one of the aspects featured in the film which clearly harked back to Inception.

I thought the cast gave relatively decent performances and its certainly a thought provoking film - its somewhat memorable too. I'd say, in my mind, its more of what I'd call a 'deep film' than an 'epic', although it certainly has an epic running time of just shy of 3 hours long (2h49 to the end of the credits). If this really interests you, then its probably worth seeing but if your not interested in the sci-fi aspects of this, then it'll likely seem a bit too long winded and lose your interest, so I'm 50/50 about recommending it but hopefully my review has given you an idea if this is for you or not.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The only difference between Interstellar and Game of Thrones is that some people think the ending of this movie is good.

The whole thing is just a convoluted and implausible attempt to force an emotional ending. The time travel element says it all. Any movie with time travel that isn't a comedy is just awful, at least from a plot point of view.

Anyone who thinks the science of this movie is good just hasn't had a science education other than the appearance of the black hole. Time dilation just doesn't remotely work this way.

This just has =o be one of the most overrated movies in history.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The editing is perfect. The photography is even better (I mean the black hole scene is one of the most famous shots there is). The movie is really well written, you get immersed in it pretty easily and before you see, you stand up from your chair as the giant wave comes towards the spaceship, or gets irrationally angry when Dr. Mann stabs Cooper. It may get a little boring in certain parts for some, but for me, it was a good experience all the way through. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Interstellar is, by far, the best science fiction movie of the past few decades.

Unlike most other movies in the genre that eschew the "science" part in favor of "fiction", Interstellar is about "science" with a bit of "fiction" here and there. It's as scientific as a big budget Hollywood movie can be without turning into a Physics documentary.

There are no spaceships with faster-than-light "warp drives" as seen in Star Wars and Star Trek, rather a slow and fragile space station that doesn't shoot lasers and gives the impression it's about to break apart as soon as it fires up its engines. There are no unbreakable supersoldiers that will single-handedly save the world either, instead there are a lot of humanly fallible characters who break under the circumstances, even committing what would be considered as "sin" philosophically speaking, chief among them Matt Damon and Michael Caine's characters of Dr. Mann and Dr. Brand.

Interstellar is full of powerful scenes, both on the scientific level and the human one. Scenes such as the fantastical traversal through a wormhole near Jupiter, the moments when Murph accuses her father of leaving her to die on Earth via video, the fist fight between Dr. Mann and Cooper, and the suspenseful attempt of Cooper to dock to the spinning-out-of-control space station.

But at the heart of the story is the love of a father and a daughter, and that's what keeps Interstellar from becoming an interesting documentary yet at the same time a boring movie. This father-daughter dynamic grounds the story and makes the plot relatable to the average viewer that probably doesn't understand all the Physics concepts that are present in this movie. Unlike the other explorers of this movie who were chosen due to having no families, Matthew McConaughey's Cooper is a father that goes out in the cosmos and risks his life to save his kids. This striking antithesis between Cooper and the others is what makes Matthew McConaughey's performance more powerful.

Where the movie throws all of its "fiction" is towards the end, where we get to experience an imaginary voyage to the center of a black hole. We also get a taste of what a higher-dimension space could be like, although the human mind can't possibly comprehend the true meaning of 4, 5 or more dimensions. But I must admit, I find the concept of gravity affecting time hard to grasp, and I have no clue about its plausibility.

Last but not least I was impressed by the powerful and evocative OST, scored by the one and only Hans Zimmer.

As far as science fiction movies go, Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey remains the ultimate movie in its genre, the one to beat, the one by which every other movie is gonna be judged. But Christopher Nolan's Interstellar is a special movie. I don't know whether Interstellar is the second-best science fiction movie ever made, but it's surely close enough to the top.

Re-watched this one when older. Lots of kids been born in the family since. This movie triggers my parental mode for sure. What length people go to save and protect there children.

I kind of liked all the cool 2001/2010 science fiction aspect to it all. I take this movies logic as it is for this movies universe. It doesn't have to match our universe to be fun/interesting imo. The two lead stars were great and the supporting cast did a good job.

Initially this came across as a ECO warrior type of film. Only space, science and tech can solve humanities dwindling resource problems (maybe). Some people may roll those eyes at the human aspect of the solution at the end, but I kind of liked that emotional sentiment (no spoilers).

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As someone who has always had interest in outer space as a kid, I always wanted a movie about space where unnecessary alien invasions and their civilisations are not shown. And with Interstellar my that dream definitely did come true, though not as much as I was hoping it to be. There are many things in this movie that I didn't understand, and the cosmic concepts are definitely not one of them.

So first of all, this movie is taking place in a dystopian future. If I didn't know better I'd think that it's happening in an alternate reality. There was no mention of this being in the future at any point in the beginning. The only way to know about things was by people's talking, and I will explain later why it was a terrible decision.

So everything about humanity is on a path of destruction and thus they choose to find a wormhole through which they can go to another planet and live over there, which is something I completely agree with. I'm the kind of a person who completely supports humanity to settle in space and letting nature and wildlife live on Earth in peace. But why are they going as far as another planet? Can't they just live on Mars or Titan? They looked way safer than the water planet they went to. The excuse that Mars and Titan don't have oxygen won't work because neither did this planet. And it was shown very well in the fight scene.

Speaking of the fight scene, it was completely unnecessary. This is a movie about interdimensional space travel. No one is interested in petty conflicts. Already we are tensed about the crew not making it back to Earth and Cooper's daughter ageing and never getting to know whether her father is alright or not. I was feeling very bad for her. She didn't even take the opportunity to say goodbye to her father and now she has to regret about this for her whole life. On the other hand Cooper is also very tensed about not getting to see her daughter before she grows old and dies.

My favourite part in the entire movie was when he reached the fifth dimension. He could see his daughter from the day he left her. While floating behind a bookshelf he tried his best to make her understand that he wanted to see her. And finally after long he decided to use the Morse code from the watch to make her understand. I was really empathising with him. I was feeling how I'd behave in a situation like this, where someone I have to contact does not even know Morse code and there is no way I could talk to them. Finally in the end we get to see the awesome world that the scientists make, where the gravity gets inverted and people can live in a much bigger place. It was a terrific idea. I wasn't even expecting the movie to end like that.

And now like I said, I'll talk about the audio quality. The voice is so low and the score is so high it's very hard to listen to all the exposition that is given. Normally I'd not have any problem with that, but out of almost 3 hours of this movie, 2 hours is just talking, talking and more talking. I'm not able to read subtitles very fast so I couldn't keep track of what was going on. In fact, when TARS was speaking I didn't even know it was him. I used to think it's someone else in the background on whom the camera has not been shown. Since the volume was so low, it wasn't even possible to understand that these were different voices. And speaking of TARS, he was the most forgettable character in the movie. To write this review I had to watch Honest Trailers to remember everything, and then I remembered that TARS was even a thing.

Interstellar is a masterpiece we can only expect Christopher Nolan to make. If anyone else had made a movie about outer space, they'd have definitely added aliens, like fishes on the new planet, or some rabbits hiding in their burrows. But I'm really glad that didn't happen, because that would have meant humanity didn't learn from its past mistakes and are choosing to start life on someone else's land. If it weren't for the long low volume talking and the forced exposition meant for uninformed audience, it'd have easily been my favourite Nolan movie.

1. Characters are best. Every character is memorable and have flashed out personality. I cried during a scene where Cooper watches video message from his daughter Murph, which happens very, very, very rare with me. Even Tom, Romilly and even TARS and CASE, we are not that much emotionally attached to them like to Brand but we know them.
2. Effects are great. Armies of people worked on this movie just for effects and they made masterpiece just like camera, acting and writing crew. I know that everyone knows about iconic black hole scene and it looks amazing. When i watched this movie i felt like i was in space and i was among the first men that was next to black hole. I want to talk about science. I love science, especially physics. But as much as i love when movies are scientifically explained, movies do not need that. That why they are called Science FICTION, they give explanations based on real life THEORIES (not confirmed truth). And that is cool!
3. Actors are great. I do not know what to say, actors are just great. Kid actors are best of the best from that category. Not much to say.
4. Theme. Theme is little complicate, but just a little. It is emotional, fun to watch and intense. *The reason that Cooper is same age and his kids are older is real and it is called time dilation*. I really loved it.
If this hole essay and time i wasted on it do not give you an idea of how much i love this movie and you do not like it-GO **** YOURSELF
