Summary: Fei Wang, an advertising executive, is not considered to be a good husband, a good father, or a good son. His wife divorced him and is about to enter another marriage; his daughter has entered the rebellious stage of puberty; his father is a retiree who becomes apathetic to his family; yet none of this bothers Fei at all. In fact he has his conceited mind fixed on getting promoted to creative director. However, the creative director position is taken by Yilong Li, an executive of another major advertising agency lured into this job by the offer of a high salary. Yilong is a distinguished career woman in the field of advertising; a dedicated, scrupulous, overbearing, unyielding, and friendless person. Although Fei is very seasoned and talented and has courted many ladies, developing creative campaigns for brassieres and sanitary pads is just out of his scope. After brainstorming to no avail, he goes home for a hot bath and wine, leafing through women’s magazines for inspiration. He is intoxicated before inspiration comes. He puts on women’s clothing and lipstick, attempting to feel what it is like to be female. While looking in the bathroom mirror, he accidentally knocks down a lamp, and ends up in the bathtub shocking himself by the lamp. A miracle occurred when he wakes up in hospital. Suddenly he acquired the ability to hear women’s thoughts. He was initially worried about suffering from a strange disease, but soon he feels very at ease taking advantage of this gift. He instantly becomes an expert on women psychology in office. More importantly, he can eavesdrop on Yilong’s creative ideas and use them as his own. With two gorgeous, compulsively watchable stars doing their best to rise above middling material that often proves more a hindrance than support, Chen has perhaps inadvertently created a faithful Hollywood remake after all. Read full review
