Summary:

While the elements are there, the spirit
isn't. The film is too predictable (oops, missed her again) to be exciting,
and it's too fond of its pilfered Treasure Island roots to have fun with

The plot, a series of missed connections, grows boring. The action scenes have no oomph. And the actors are lost. As the disheveled Dan, Cusack is charming, but he can't make this tired tourist tale go. And he can't fall down a mountain as well as Kathleen Turner. [19 May 1987, p.D5]

"Hot Pursuit" is a throwaway 80's teen comedy, with an added twist - Jamaican stereotypes! Other than the once-acceptable humor, the only thing worth mentioning about this movie is that it features Ben Stiller in one of his early roles.
