This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There is less action than in the first part, but it's good. The end of the movie is long I think and the death of Voldemort is too quick I think. I was a little disappointed, all these films for a final like this ... I expected more, but it still a good film and a good saga. Expand

The script is all right, but with too many unnecessary dramatic pauses, but the acting is pretty good. (At least as good as you can get with the characters being played) There is a lot more action this time around, however the final duel could have been a bit more spectacular while still staying true to the book. Those who easily cry should beware, as there are two particularly sad parts that could bring tears to your eyes. (I myself shed a single tear, and i am not known to cry during a movie) The action sequences are very well done, and the animation is spectacular. The special effects are great, and the movie really redeems itself for the lousy first half. It's good enough to see even if you read the book, but don't go and buy it for $30 on DVD. I give it an 8.5/10 Expand

A wonderful ending to a wonderful series. One that i grew up with and now and am sad to say goodbye to. There were some slight book inaccuracies, and not enough screen time for the other characters, but im willing to overlook those.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie didn't need to exist. I'm not going to say that it was not a good idea to make the movie from a financial standpoint as it has sold extremely well, but from a logical perspective it does seem pointless. A book that in itself should only be read by fan-girls that was divided into two parts; the first which has the character running around like chickens with their heads cut off for two hours and the second based around one short battle. This movie could have been reduced to a twenty minute battle without the attempt at an existential crisis and a lot of standing around. I don't blame the producers as anything they seem to put out will sell like hotcakes so it only makes sense to pull this out to two movies, but doesn't mean you should. I'm not a fan of J.K Rowling's writing. As her audience got older with each of her novels she attempted to grow the series with them. This, in my view, failed because she does not have the skills to write anything other than children's novels or how to properly end a series. Keeping this in mind the movie didn't really have a chance to be a good movie, although the ending was better. It probably wasn't possible to get worse as the final battle between Harry and Voldemort lasted longer than one spell. The epilogue bothered me to no end. I was hoping they wouldn't include it as it wraps the book up like a preschooler's picture book. This along with what was seemingly 15 cents as a budget just made it that much worse. To wrap things up, this movie was terrible and didn't need to happen. Expand

My only wish for this film was that it did justice to the end of the book, which was a truly powerful and emotional experience. Did it? Well, sort of. A lot of it impressed me: It starts very strongly, deliberately slow to build toward the climactic battle, those early scenes are well written and acted, and watching Bellatrix-Hermione was a treat. But from then I found it hard not to be distracted by the choices the film-makers had made; powerful moments from the book don't seem to have been realised as well in the film. There are a few examples of this but the biggest is Voldemort's eventual defeat; the most important scene in the entire series, and he's gone, with a whimper, not a bang. Carrying the film through are two brilliant performances from Daniel Radcliffe (easily the best he's been) and Ralph Fiennes, this is their film. So much so, that all the other characters feel a bit pushed to the side; subplots with Ron and Hermione, with Luna, Neville, Draco feel rushed and unimportant. However, the films strength lies in its share of emotional moments, and all the big ones are well realised on-screen; I was a blubbering mess. This is still an excellent film, it looks amazing and is really well acted and mostly well scripted. It was always going to be difficult to farewell the series adequately, and they've done it quite well. Expand

The element of humor that has been a big part of the series is seamlessly intertwined amongst the chaos and dark moments this movie presents. It's hard not to give this movie anything less than a 5 star rating or 10/10--you could nitpick at a few things here and there, but the resounding feeling I left with by the end was that what I'd just seen was an amazing finale to a really fun series. Ahem....) Director David Yates and screenwriter Steve Kloves do exactly what they have done with previous installments; which is to move the film along as fast as possible whilst using as little expositional dialogue as possible and simultaneously dumping anything from the books that had any real character deepening qualities, ( Dumbledores dark past is completely sidestepped) or emotional clout, and leaving it cruelly flapping on the cutting room floor like a confused, suffocating trout. The battle of Hogwarts looks, well... pretty crappy, with Yates attempting to ape shots from Lord of the Rings and failing, despite having a much bigger budget to work with.Oi! SAY WHAT?! Uh Huh! No **** Anyway, I can't be bothered writing anymore about this movie as it doesn't deserve it. Piss off Harry Potter, seriously. Yeah okay the books are fun and the movies are WHATEVER but does this crap really deserve to be the overwhelming super fart franchise it has become? NO! So much is better than this: looking at a wall for example, certainly a more wholesome experience than being forced to sit through either of the first two movies. Scratching your eye, easily as much fun as watching Harry Potter 5, fa show! Funny story: I actually farted earlier and it reminded me of Daniel Radcliffe's acting when R-Pattz died in HP Sause 4, what a stinkyness that was, jeez, in fact pretty much anytime Radcliffe had to really emote in a scene he failed miserably, though he did get less crap, but in the end he was still crap. and he knows it. The other two actor-children-people-things? Crap. Oh! Pushing a granny down the stairs, that's probably more fun than all the movies combined actually, and that's free to do, and only takes a second, AND you don't have to sit through twenty odd hours of crappy child actors pretending to actually like the crappy movie they're acting in yet all the while being glad they are who they are, not just because they're richer than most of us, but because they don't have to be us and not be in Harry Potter like we aren't, and have to pretend to everyone else that they like the movies everyone else likes such as Harry Potter, which thay actually think is only okay and not the second coming and would probably rather go down to the park and do an outdoor activity if you asked them, or even just do something else, like say....waterboarding themselves! Transformers is crap too, and loads of other stuff and whichever the latest tight wearing super ninny movie about a dude who got some powers through no fault of his own but was then able to pooh through peoples minds and travel back in time and become his own anus or his planet would explode or whatever even though he a bit socially awkward cause of their differences just like all of us are, awww, is. IRON CAPTAIN THOR FARTS 4: The secrets of the Teenage Mutant Ninja prostitutes! Its all the same! HuuuuuP! I actually am a Harry Potter fan, believe it or not, but I think this previous 'stream of consciousness' shows just how apathetic I was towards this movie and it got me thinking about whether artistic movie tastes are perhaps cyclical and.....well I don't know, originality might become fashionable again, probably not though so.... Johnny Depp I'm seriously annoyed at you too, make a good movie would ya?!.....aw WHATEVER Harry GO AWAY!!! Pirates of the Harry Potter and the Spiderman of the neverending rehash of easily digestible multiplex gruel, with extra self delusion! Aye why not! Expand

From Sorcerer's/Philosopher's stone up to the wonderful Deathly Hallows Part 1. They will find out that the actors really developed through out the years that they have made these movies. You will soon realize that these kids are really great actors.

Deathly Hallows Part 2 is full of depth. It has heart, action, romance, its thrilling and funny. I really have to say this, the acting was top notched; Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint. The story was gripping and was close to the book than I can remember.

From start to finish, you are literally hooked on what is going to happen next and you really care about these characters. It was probably my first or second time to really feel emotion like this in a movie. I found that I really cared about these characters, and the ending was really satisfying. Everything was really balanced, from special effects up to the emotions. A perfect movie

Bottom line, watch it! This is definitely going to be one of the worth while movies to watch in 2011.

If it doesn't get nominated for best picture I will boycot the oscars. I feel ashamed in the avid potter readers to hear so many negative reviews as to how it adapted the book. Where were you durring the last 7 sub-par films before you decided you'd look cool by jumping on the haters bandwagon for the only one of the films that generations to come will hail as a masterpiece, and rightly so. There was incredible hype for The Deathly Hallows Part 2 ever since the final scenes of the DH 1, and it has the impossible task of meeting the expectations that it has set for itself which is incredibly high. This is the perfect way to end the best movie franchise ever made. It's amazing to actually take a step back and look at all of the 8 movies, it never drops in quality and the shifts in the tone of the movies is just bloody awesome from the Sorcerer's Stone's light, funny, cheerful tone to the very dark and serious tone of the Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows 1 and 2. As always Mr Yates gets into the thick of the action and assumes that the audience knows everything and literally picks up where DH1 ended. Hogwarts surrounded by hovering Dementors and a despondent-looking new headmaster Severus Snape, cue the title sequence. You know you're in good hands. For the fans who did not like the DH1 citing a lack of action sequences and a slow dragging story (I really enjoyed DH1) will be satisfied with this one. Almost immediately it starts with a break-in into Gringotts bank with Harry and a creepy looking goblin on his back under the invisibility cloak, Ron wearing a goatee and Hermione taking the form of Bellatrix Lestrange via the polyjuice potion. Helena Bonham Carter was absolutely amusing impersonating Emma Watson's character impersonating her. Searching for a horcrux, followed swiftly by an abrupt escape plan with the trio holding on for dear life on a dragon. Action sequence junkies you'll love this movie. The special effects in this one is great, amazing looking wand duels, knights, trolls and everything in between as Hogwarts is turned into a battlefield not dissimilar to the Lord of the Rings' movies. The calm before the storm is very similar to The Two Towers when they're preparing for the arrival of Voldermort and his posse, everything is so well-paced and the story just flows effortlessly. But even with all that in abundance, the heart of the movie will always be in the close intimate scenes, the CGI effects will never upstage the emotional core of the movie, two life-long friends finally share a tender moment, a boy circled by his deceased family and his reunion with the man he so much admired and so much more. There are a lot of deaths and I'm quite surprised that a fair amount of them occurs off screen, probably it's supposed to give a much stronger impact but I really wanted to see the demise of some of them. All in all the story was very solid and so unbelievably satisfying. Desplat's score, hauntingly magnificent. Truly beautiful and laced with bits from John Williams' and Nicholas Hooper's pieces, reminding us of much simpler and happy times and when everything came crashing down respectively. Eduardo Serra's cinematography is phenomenal, really capturing the look and feel of the movie as he did in part 1, you really feel that death is coming for Hogwarts. The stand-out performance for DH 1 was Emma Watson, DH 2 is where Daniel Radcliffe really shines. Harry Potter is no longer just the boy who lived, he's grown into a man on a mission, now equipped with a sense of authority and no one really questions him anymore, it's best to let him do what needs to be done. The negotiation scene with the goblin and with Mr. Ollivander was just so intense and delicately captured on screen showcasing a different side to Mr. Radcliffe. He was given a lot of dramatic and emotionally-heavy scenes and he really delivered, this was his movie along with Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, who have been in their roles for 10 years now, their casting really made the movie what it is. And let's not forget the most impressive supporting cast ever assembled with a slew of great British actors, you know who they are. Ralph Fiennes is menacing as the immortal Lord Voldermort but every time a Horcrux is destroyed he gets progressively weaker and Mr Fiennes' performance is very delicate showing the Dark Lord's vulnerability. Then there was the half-blood prince's revelatory piece which almost reduced me to tears. That was a heart-breaking montage of Snape's agendas and his sacrifices. Alan Rickman was outstanding showing the deeper, more emotional side of Severus Snape, give the man an Oscar already. For those that have been following ever since the first movie, the reward here is extremely gratifying. The epilogue of the movie which was set 19 years later was very bittersweet, did'tt want it to end. The final few moments before the screen faded to black, and before the sun sets on the best franchise ever made I also felt that the sun was setting on my childhood, saw the first movie when I was 10 years old, and it ended with the end of my teen years. I grew up with the movies. What a ride it has been, goodbye Harry Potter.. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Can you say "expectation greater than realization"? Everything is there from a great story of intrigue, danger, love, hate, friendship, families, betrayal, life and death. Then add some of the greatest stage and screen actors around. All this should have been fodder enough for the most thrilling roller-coaster ride of the Harry Potter series of movies EVER! But what did we get? A movie that was as yawning and emotionally void as a teaspoon. Sure, the pyrotechnics and special effects were A+ but what happened to the roller coaster of emotion and tension, happiness of reunited families then sudden death and unhappiness? Percy's reunion with his family to join the fight would have been well worth an added five minutes to the length of the movie. Here is the up ride of the coaster in one second to joy, happiness and forgiveness and as suddenly as Percy is back, Fred is killed! Down goes the roller coaster screaming to despair, out come the tears horizontally!

Another great scene that went missing was MacGonagall giving Slughorn the basic "grow some b.lls and fight or get out of the way". A simple rousing speech by her, at this point, to rally the troops to fight would have had the audience cheering and the students' blood boiling to save their beloved Hogwarts! But no, the fight begins with a "send Slytherin to the dungeons!'. Seriously, that was no battle cry!

Once the battle started, there were few students and others to be seen actually fighting. The movie could have added another five minutes to focus in on a fight here or a death there. Even the great battle from the book (many were waiting to hear the 'B" word) between Molly Weasley and Bellatrix Lestrange would have sent the coaster car careening up to the top of the ride before crashing down with Bellatrix's death (which by the way was more of a whimper than the fabulous death scene it could have been - slow motion added here would have further crossed the T on her death!).
A few other things could have greatly enhanced this movie: Voldemort actually dying in front of the whole school, Hagrid and Grawp fighting outside the castle and then Hagrid getting carried away by the spiders, and Neville and others carrying dead students back to the Great Hall. Just some simple touches of what made the book great would have made this movie stellar. Yes, the scene with Snape's tears going into the vial then into the panseive was fabulous. I sobbed when he held Lily and thought my heart would break at this truly touching and fabulously added scene. Added scenes would have had the audience on the edge of their seats one moment and blubbering into their popcorn the next. Making this picture longer and not jumping so quickly from scene to scene would have allowed the audience to savor this this truly final film in this fabulous series. What's wrong with a three hour movie for 30 million plus fans? Either the WB was looking at the bottom line or those in charge of production were tired and looking at their watches. Finally, the last scene with Harry and company sending their children off to Hogwarts 19 years later. The music as lovely and teary, but what happened to Ron being funny or Harry being stared at? More lost opportunity. And the roller coast limps to the end of the ride. So sorry, but this could have been the big, giant "O" in the HP series and I am very sad it did not live up to the wonderful book and my high expectations.

There are some truly standout scenes that will push you into tears, even if you've already read the books. I knew these things were coming, but the movie has a way of getting you much more involved. But, as is required of someone who read the books, I am also disappointed that they changed major details and forgot to explain crucial points. And the last film that not only meets the demand in all areas, it also goes further. David Yates, being director for the fourth time in the saga, delivers to the public, fan or not, an admirable quality of outcome after having led the work with care in the previous films he directed. Proves to be a director of intelligent vision, placing each element in its quantity and the right times. In Part 1, there is a further development in the drama of the characters and their internal conflicts, and the plot to prepare the key to the end, but without having even a little in the moments of action. Now in Part 2, the fastest pace exciting and gives a greater focus to physical conflicts that the previous film, dramatic but also the emphasis needed to excite the viewer. In the plot, Voldemort got the Saille wand in order to become invincible. However, it gets weaker every piece of his soul that is destroyed by the protagonists. With his army of Death Eaters, he initiates an attack on Hogwarts, to prevent them and are able to destroy the last Horcrux. Harry, knowing his anger, struggles to find and destroy them in time, and finally have the final showdown with his nemesis. With the battle taking place in school, Yates once again follows the right, not making a final showdown full of explosions in an action whose purpose is just the visual impact, but an epic battle that although, as is the thrill of the moment truly is: a sad and gloomy. The soundtrack by Alexandre Desplat, who repeats the good work of the previous film, highlights this issue. In the technical issues, the film is not anything to duty. On the contrary. The treatment of visual effects, the aforementioned soundtrack, photography of Eduardo Serra, who also repeats his job well, the beautiful art direction and makeup too, providing a great result to the elves, and also in the epilogue, making a characterization of compelling characters. All this in a high standard of quality. The performances don't deserve any least attention. The saga has always been privileged to have an amazing cast, and now it's all about the movie where they are in the spotlight. Daniel Radcliffe has his best time and leads admirably. Rupert Grint and Emma Watson are also more than worthy of recognition. Matthew Lewis has a good time favored by a more mature Neville. Alan Rickman, but doesn't appear too long, the scene offers a spectacle of the memories of his character. Ralph Fiennes Voldemort embodies a violent rage and consumed by fear. Helena Bonham Carter is also present as Bellatrix Lestrange insane, having featured in the comic scene of the invasion of Gringotts Bank. Also noteworthy is the actress Maggie Smith, with her surprising role of Professor Minerva McGonnagall, leading the defense of Hogwarts. It is gratifying to see the set of all such work carried out with competence resulting in something so admirable, that perhaps only small by not giving proper emotion in some of the killings, where beloved characters go, and also to explain some details left out that possibly confused a bit by those who didn't read the books. That won't be very harmful, but care about those details could be higher. However, the successes speak much louder, but contribute to the deserved outcome of this phenomenon that marked the many and surely will continue checking, because even with the sad farewell, the saga is not dead, nor die in the hearts and memories of thousands. Everyone who hasn't seen the movie yet still awaits an awe-inspiring finale, in three dimensions even. It's hard to imagine the sheer magnitude that the series has been. 8 movies that all feature a place in the top 25 most succesfull movies. 7 books that have only been outsold by The Holy Bible. Theme parks. Billions of toys, games, candy, action figures, playing cards, all devoured by an army of fans big enough to occupy a continent or two. This thing was bigger than Star Wars, Batman and Lord of the Rings put into a blender. And they couldn't have ended it in a better way if they tried.

I also thought that Part 2 was overall a very good and enjoyable movie with some phenomenal effects and several outstanding performances. That said, I am in utter shock at the overwhelmingly positive reviews here and particularly at Rotten Tomatoes. The movie was quite good, but it nonetheless had some glaring flaws. The pacing was off throughout the movie, the attempts at humor were mostly complete failures, and some of the changes made from the books were poorly considered. ***SPOILER ALERT***

Positives: Helena Botham Carter as Hermione - best performance of the movie, with the right type of humor; the dragon escape from Gringots - brilliant effects and understated emotional and thematic elements; Alan Rickman - no more need be said; Warwick Davis - his biggest role in the movies yet, and he's great. The stone knights of Hogwarts, and all of the other visual effects.

Negatives: Gringots was rushed, sense of danger too understated. How/why did Luna end up back at Hogwarts? Attempts at humor that distracted from the tone of the movie. Humor in a movie like this needs to shake one slightly out of their funk, laugh inside, and slingshot back into the dark mood with a reminder of the lightness that might yet be, not make a crowd laugh out loud or giggle (for examples, see almost anything done by Joss Whedon, or in the HP books themselves). Molly Weasley first being timid when approaching Bellatrix, then smiling after killing her just for a crowd-pleasing "yay" moment - not in character or tone. Finally, the last battle was too scattered and not nearly as good as in the book. Why not take advantage of a brilliantly written scene in which Neville is being burned under the sorting hat, with the rapid and dramatic change when he takes it off in defiance and removes the sword unexpectedly? Why send Ron and Hermione to try to kill Nagini when the surprise and shock of Neville killing her right in front of Voldemort would have been wonderful? This scene was drawn out by being stuffed with action, when it could have been paced properly to stress the emotions of the characters and the stakes instead. Instead of honest moments of triumph, we get false and contrived feeling moments.

Final positive: The epilogue - recaptured the spirit of innocence and magic, bringing the story full-circle. This was the one part of the story I felt was delivered better in the movie than in the book.

I still had a couple of unanswered questions that I had to clarify with a friend who has read the books. However, that did not distract overall from the wonderment of the film. It's been awhile since I've seen a movie I liked well enough to see twice, but I will probably see it one more time before it leaves the big screen. Deathly Hollows parts 1 and 2 couldn't have been more different. Part 1 was a snooze-fest, this one has a lot of action and keeps you on the edge of your seat. Expand

It's become a series that has magically bounded itself to our hearts through the masterful and brilliant directing of Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets), Alfonso Cuarón (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire), and David Yates whose far-fetched brilliance has distanced himself far beyond the other directors, producing the best and biggest grossing films in the series. In Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, Yates manages to perfectly balance action with wit, a balance lacked in all of the previous films. A large credit to Steve Kloves who wrote a perfect screenplay to J.K. Rowling's novel. Kloves followed the novel's original creativity while adding his own creativity to the bundle of brilliance. Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint are at their best in this final installment. Their performance perfectly depicts J.K. Rowling's original portrayal of Harry, Hermione, and Ron. It's been obvious that a performance like this had been progressing within these three actors ever since 2001 and I'm so glad that it finally came out in the conclusion of Harry Potter, a story about a boy and his scar that will forever live in the hearts of those millions of fans who witnessed a phenomenal story about love, bravery, and the importance of friendship. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What I thought was going to be an average summer movie turned out to be an adventurous thrill. I grew up reading and seeing the Harry Potter books and movies and it's sad to see the series come to an end. I would definitely give this movie a 10 because it was a breath-taking and captivating finale to a deep and exciting trilogy. I would give many thumbs up to the actors in this film especially the three main actors, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, and Emma Watson, the genius director, David Yates, and of course the author of the trilogy, J.K. Rowling, who is without a doubt one of the most creative and capable authors who ever lived. This trilogy will indeed always be remembered by it's fans and critics. Expand

Accidentally submitted my bad review with a 10 rating. Put in a 0 to even it out. I wanted to rate a 5. And meta critic doesn't allow you to edit, delete or undo your reviews. Below was my previous review:

This movie going experience once again proves my belief that happiness has a high correlation to expectations. Usually, I go into the Harry Potter movies having low expectations: they are, to me, visual companions to my favorite books. Therefore, I usually enjoy them and come out a happy camper even when I go with my girlfriend (and now my wife *gasp*) who tries to damper the viewing (she never read the books and isn't quite a fantasy fan). I never blamed her disinterest in the movies. I just choose to turn a blind eye. I am just glad that they put in the money and effort to translate all the books into blockbuster movies which is quite an undertaking if you think about it. Movies seldom, if ever, exceed the quality of their book counterparts. Even so, the early reviews here raised my expectations for this last HP movie - so much that I was giddy as a school boy up to the moments the movie started. Even the brief and unsatisfying preview of The Dark Knight rises didn't damper my mood. I went in expecting at least similar quality to what I thought has been so far the best movie adaptation in the series (Prisoner of Azkaban). That was a bad mistake. The movie tried to be a joyride of visuals and action and little attention was paid to the character developments. It was a wrap-up of sorts. One can even surmise that that was the original intention. The entire movie felt like the last 20 minutes of every new Transformers movie. Lots of action and hair-raising awkward, too-happy-to-be-true moments of closure. They might as well have ended it with a group dance a la Megamind or Happy Feet or Despicable Me. I hope they re-do this series and hire Christopher Nolan or a real director in 10 or so years. Hopefully by then, I would have washed away all my memories of all the HP movies I've seen to date. I will be re-reading the HP novels starting now and hopefully it can undo my mind/eye/ear's betrayal of the written word for the past 10 years. In sum, if you go watch it, go with a low expectation.

The imaginative worlds of the moviesRegarding the relationship between the books and movies: Novel "purists" should stop pretending the relationship is or should be one-sided, in which movies serve as visual allegiances to Rowling's words. The imaginative worlds of the movies and books are both distinct and mutually influential. It seems clear that Rowling started writing with a movie consciousness (altering her themes and action in preparation for the big screen) in Goblet of Fire, or at least Order of the Phoenix. So not only do the movies deserve their own agency, they push back on Rowling and shape the novels.

About the movie: It's at once a celebration of the first seven films and their fireworks grand finale. Have fun recognizing all the homages. Note the score, which incorporates themes from much of John Williams' original visions, as well as mood pieces from Yates' earlier contributions. Although some character cameos from the previous films are obvious, others take a bit of crowd analysis. Also check the room of requirement for a few trips down memory lane. The movie is a time capsule of the films' collective culture.

But it's also a fluid and marvelous piece of entertainment on its own (as like 200 professional critics have noted with enough words). Is it perfect? Well, it has Ginny Weasley. But Neville Longbottom's geek awesomeness more than baptizes those moments. If you enjoy the idea of Neville Longbottom being awesome, you'll fall for the movie as naturally as Luna falls for--all assortment of geeky things.

They were not allowed to watch the movies until they read the books. I remember the pride I felt the first time they sat in my lap reading the big potter book to me. Soon enough they both finished the first book and declared they were ready for the movie. There was rhythm as the kids devoured the books and demanded the movies. Their reading out paced the production and have waited with the rest of the world for the movies to come. Something is lost as the series ends. The first big books they ever read, and the first big kid movies they ever watched. The movie is wonderful. The series is wonderful. Watching my children experience both has been a joy of fatherhood. This is ridiculously overrated. The first one still remains the best, and it pretty much decreases in quality from there. I would give this a 7, but it needs a 0 to throw off the inaccurate rating.

Ostentatious ending to a series that has lost its splendor of originality

Story: Now this is where the film falls short the most, paramount importance is given to scenes where cheap romance occurs (retrieval of the basilisk teeth), which does nothing to enrich the plot, because it has no effect on the overall story, but the filmmaker does not seem o think it is important to explain Harry's "loljks, I wasn't dead", probably assuming that most people have read the book and the others will just say "It was probably magic", but this cannot be too much of a criticism because many of these weak storytelling mechanisms are taken directly from the books. As for the epilogue it seems cheap, gratuitous and completely out of tone with the rest of the film. It feels like it was left there to get a few cheap laughs and to leave the viewer with no uncertainty that Harry does live happily ever after. But most of these criticisms should probably go into a book review, because the source material is as weak as the film itself.

Camera-work and Direction: Average to low standard, especially considering the budget was $250 million. The shots where steady cam was not used only seem out of character with the rest of the film. The sequences where Harry and Voldemort communicate through their psychic connection seem incredibly redundant and have a tendency towards fake experimentalism, which has no motifs and seems to be completely self-indulgent. Under this category falls also the white Kings Cross station, which seems to be an optimistic attempt to form some sort of symbolism, but once again this optimism must go unrewarded. The animations are standard, not adding much to the plot, even when they are mostly visually pleasing.

Acting: The acting in the lead roles seems to be consistent with the rest of the series, even though our familiarity with the characters does not seem to make them more sympathetic. The supporting actors seem mostly relived to be over with this lengthy project and their performances are very weak, which is not saying that they are given enough screen time to give their characters any development.

Sceenplay: Steve Kloves' screenplay seems to be an incomplete work where the adding in of interactions with cute animated creatures through out the film, seem to have importance over the development of the plot. With the fact that his only large job has been in writing the screenplay for the Harry Potter series, his knowledge of the overall story should have aided in tying loose ends, but these remain completely unsolved and seem accentuated with lousy dialogue and lengthily emotionally dry scenes.

Soundtrack: Forgettable rehash of previous successes

Poor ending to the epic (in size not in merit) Harry Potter franchise.

No other live-action movie I've seen so far has come close to the level of epic coolness that I have seen in this movie, and from the looks of things, it appears very doubtful that there will be any live-action movie coming out in 2011 that could possibly come anywhere close to the level of epic coolness I have seen in this movie. The movie adaptations of the fantastic book series have been very faithful towards preserving the integrity originally written by J.K Rowling, and this movie brings a satisfying conclusion to what began nearly a full decade ago in 2001. It has been entertaining to see both the cast and characters change with every new adventure that took place, and even though this movie brings a close to the magical saga of Hogwarts, I was very satisfied with all of the action that took place on-screen, and I feel elated to have seen the entire movie saga all the way through. This movie is destined to join the ranks of movies like "The Wizard of Oz, The Grapes of Wrath, Casablanca, Pinnochio, Alice In Wonderland, Sleeping Beauty, Mary Poppins, The Diary of Anne Frank, Charlotte's Web," and "The Lord of the Rings" trilogy as superb movie adaptations of popular books. This is the movie to see in the year of 2011! Enough said, true believers! Expand

Sadly they were not completely met, but that doesn't mean that the movie was bad at all. Visually speaking it's marvellous, and the actions scenes were a treat for the senses, and the plot was woven in such a fashion that was almost always gripping. Sadly, some of the most captivating moments of the book were treated in such a shallow way that didn't really allow the audience to completely identify with the feelings of pain or longing of the characters (such as the scenes of Snape's memories or the conversation at King's Cross or the final battle). Nevertheless, it's a movie well worth watching, and most likely all the people who aren't familiar with the books will find it engaging, and arguably the best of the saga. Expand

After the somewhat terrible pacing and decision making that went in to Deathly Hallows Part 1 (Harry goes Camping), this final film is many steps up from that. Its hard to keep epic pacing up with so many movies over so many years, and I don't think they ever really had that down (Harry Potter movies never seem to be at the level of Star Wars, or Lord of the Rings), but they still managed to get a good solid --almost epic-- film at the end. Definitely worth seeing this on the big screen (not sure it's worth 3D though). Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Short version: This movie is great, go see it, especially if you are a Potter fan.

Long version:

Originally I was against the idea of splitting the final book into two movies to keep the gravy train rolling. But after the fact, I couldn't be happier with their decision. Rather than making one movie approximately 2.5 hours long with skimpy details and a rushed plot line, they decided to split it up, keeping the slower and more somber first half with all the necessary plot points for a cinematic interpretation. The same goes for the fast and furious second part. //Minor spoilers
Part 2 of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows starts off where the Part 1 finished, Harry and company had just escaped the Malfoy Manor with a murdered Dobby the house elf. With 3 horcruxes destroyed, they set out to find and destroy the last 4. Although there are parts that are slightly altered/ omitted, the movie keeps all the important plot points from the books and acknowledges that the omitted parts exist. The nonstop fighting of the battle at Hogwarts is a perfect fit for cinematography. Literally every hero/character that had been introduced in previous films (and still living) come back to have a small portion of the movie to have the spotlight. All the story lines are shown including the bank robbery, the horcrux searches, Dumbledore's ancestry explained, Snape's ties to Harry, and even Neville's becoming of a hero in his own right. It does a fantastic job of showing everything that everyone wanted out of the books in the movie.

Final word:

This is a fantastic finish to the phenomenal Harry Potter franchise. If you are a fan, you've already seen it, if you are still on the fence, it deserves your money.

An adaptation of the novel "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" by J.K. Rowling. Look at all of the films that are "adaptations" of novels and tell me if the majority of those films follow the book strictly. If you look, you'll find that the movies usually do the opposite. This movie did everything it was supposed to do, stay true to the story, and David Yates re-created HP to how he envisioned it in his mind. I'm sure a million other people would've done it a million other ways, but the story was fantastic, as in the book, and the visuals and scenes, and cinematography were all high class. This movie was everything it needed to be and a lot more. Fantastic finale to a fantastic series. Yeah the book series was better, it's so hard to recreate such a tale, but the film series was fantastic and David Yates has done a fantastic job in re-creating the tale told by J.K. Rowling. Great film. Expand

David Yates proved himself, once again, as the best adapter of the Harry Potter series into film, even more so than Alfonso Cuaron, who was rather good at it, too. What surprised me a lot was the emotional impact that the film had on me. Many of the scenes had quite convincing settings and emotional depth that is unprecedented in the Potter series. The storytelling was rather slick and the visuals are simply stunning. The special effects have by far been one of the best, with the exception of the Half-Blood Prince possibly. Overall, the finale of the series was done as good as it could have been done. I'm rather happy that they decided to split the last book into two films, since it allowed for a fuller, more complex understanding and presentation of the story in the film. It is by far the best of the Harry Potter films and it is a worthy and spectacular ending for a series that has helped shape a whole generation. Expand

HP and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 was fun, enjoyable and an entertaining closure to a long series. Did the film makers need to split the 7th HP book into two movies? Definitely No. but the film makers did pull it off, it wasnt perfect, nor was this the best Harry Potter movie but the film does work, despite some of the drama falling a little flat and for a few unintentional goofy moments. I did enjoy the last Harry Potter movie, and Im glad that the series is now over and we can move on. Expand

After seeing all the movies and reading all the books, this movie was easily my favorite. it was full of action, drama, and great special effects. The only real cons about this movie is that important and meaningful parts of the book have been changed in someway, the battle of hogwarts feels smaller than it actually was, a key moment after harry faces voldemort for the first time is changed, but probably the worst change was the final fight between harry and voldemort, it had such an amazing build up and fell short. plus if youve seen the trailers and read the book you know how its different. Still even with these gripes it is the best of the series and a fitting way to say good bye to such a well known and well loved series. til next time potter Expand

Made CHEAP and made to MAKE MONEY.

I was very unsatisfied when I left the theater. I felt like the directors, actors, producers had a tough time making this, or everyone just kinda was happy it was over and just gave up!

Here are my ten reasons why;

1. The 3-D was a waste. I thought, after seeing the previews, these people in Hollywood were finally making 3-D look good! But they aren't there wasn't enough 3-D in Harry. + Can't they make freaking lens free I-Max 3-D glasses!!?

2. Next this was "setty"! I hate "setty" movies! What I mean by "setty" is that during one scene there are all these people around and watching a fight go down..and two things go wrong...one it's kinda stupid and feels like you're on a set when this kinda thing takes place....but it get's worst when the characters all run away and go fight in there own little rooms....it was kinda funny...its like a big scene get's set up...than woosh (well not really they walked haha) they're in the castle fighting...

3. The fight scenes sucked (see last point). There was not enough blood (for a finally), and when many characters got hurt or died you didn't see anything. CHEAP.

4. The film was very dry and boring at first. The opening scene was almost like a really bad reality show...where there were pauses and script stumble and lots of awkward silence.

5. Plot holes....as many other reviewers point out...but one that bothered me was a character from the beginning disappeared and ended up at a place Harry didn't know about...it was so stupid it was like why wouldn't she just tell him she was going there. Such a dumb plot hole.

6. There was no Dobby, and too little Rubeus. When Rubeus was used his scene was cheap and quick. I would have liked to see him kick some goblins in the face! I felt like they are saving Dobby for the next series (in conjuction with the ending, see next point). I felt like I was cheated. Everyone should show up in the finale, and show up in style.

7. The ending....oh my gosh the ending was so bad....I can't believe they didn't save that for the blu-ray extras. I felt like this was a SCAM and that they were just trying to set up the next Harry Potter franchise! Yuck. Great way to ruin a movie!

8. The dragon!!! Come on it's an awesome dragon! This is fantasy land! Do more with the dragon! Hey how about some 3-D flying angles?!??!! 9. There weren't enough fantasy creatures, and unique special effects that made the first couple movies within a unique world..this felt like it was cold and old.

10. The kissing scenes (if you want to call them that) sucked!

Sorry I hate to be like that. But it really was bad.

The focus of Deathly Hallows pt 2 is the battle of Hogwarts, and the whole sequence does not disappoint, its very epic, especially on the IMAX in 3D, it looks fantastic. IT HAD THE MOST ACTION OF ANY OF THE MOVIES! IT'S NOT EVEN CLOSE! Now, with that put aside, I must admit that some scenes were slightly underwhelming (Harry's conversations with the man from his past and earlier in the movie with that same man's brother). The ending (after the fight is over) is rushed, even though the epilogue is handled well. I also loved the soundtrack, especially the main theme song at the beginning. It was very epic, as was the movie. Expand

I have nothing against these people, but if you need the movie version of a book to be EXACTLY like the book don't rate the movie based on how close to the book it was. It's a movie: certain things in books don't transcribe to movies as well, and the movie makers have their own creativity they want their art recognized as well.

With that being said, I loved this movie from beginning to end and by end I mean END. I went to the 3D one which was mind blowing I recommend spending the extra money to 3D it up! I had goosebumps throughout and had tears streaming down my face for at least 15 minutes. the CGI in HP7p2 was practically flawless, the acting was spot-on, there weren't many differences from the book, and the things that were different made sense to me because a movie portrays emotion in a different way than books do. I loved this movie so much that I am actually writing my first review on metacritic to express how good it was, which is saying alot 'cause I'm a lazy one! If you've seen only one of the movies or if you've read the books, listened to the audio books and seen all the movie or if you're just a movie fan: you NEED to see this! It's got it all: action/adventure, romance, happiness, sadness, realizations, a dragon and of course, the biggest thing you need from the last movie in a saga, a stunning and complete conclusion. In summary, if you only see one movie in theaters this summer Hp7p2 is the one and only choice for you. Enjoy!

Obviously far superior to the already brilliant Part 1, Part 2 is the perfect closure to a series that I have followed since childhood. After the credits rolled, I was completely satisfied and at the same time quite sad that it was finally over. Everything in the movie is executed to expectations. The acting from the whole cast was top notch, the cinematography was fast paced and vibrant, the plot is paced carefully with no signs of confusion and director David Yates did a great job compressing vital scenes from the book to the film with no important moments wasted. What more can I say? It's a very subtle and satisfying end to a film series I loved since it began. Goodbye Harry Potter. Thank you for entertaining us for the past 12 years. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly people, stop comparing it to the books as if thats all that matters. First of all, its meant to be an adaptation, not a full copy, and second of all, the movie did actually have more of the book in it than any other Harry Potter movie to date, so please stop complaining. But I did think this movie was very good, almost better than the book in my opinion, mainly because I did not enjoy the 7th book that much. But the movie added a lot too the whole entire Hogwarts invasion sequence, and it made it much more action packed and much less of the 'going to class' act that has been there since the first movie. I thought that the acting was great, but not exactly very noticeable, but the real standout is the way the story was expanded. In truth, not much happens in the second half of the 7th book compared to the other novels, but the director was able to include many scenes that were not from the novel to make the movie MUCH longer. The battle between Voldemort and Harry at the end felt extremely epic, even though it felt a bit strange that Harry even stood a chance against him (17 year old boy deflecting spells from the greatest wizard of all time?). Overall, i felt that the movie was very good, and while it was not quite as good as the Prisoner of Azkhaban, i felt it deserved the 9/10 i give it. Expand

The plot is easily understandable to those who have not read the book, as the last 202 pages of the deathly hallows is put into 2 hours of film allowing for more depth. The fight scenes are interesting, enough to keep peoples attention. Overall i would give this 8.5 not 10 simply because i have read the books and the film did not give credit to some of the characters. For example Bellatrix Lestrange, she is made into some top deather witch who is a really powerful witch in the books but looks nothing special in the films because all she does is get killed by Molly Weasley. In the book she fights hermionie, ginny and luna all at the same time then molly comes in, they should have done this in the film, it would have been one or two minutes at the most. The same with Voldemort, ok the fight scene between him and Harry is TEN TIMES BETTER than in the book, but Voldemort doesn't look powerful to people who have not read the book, it doesn't show him fighting Kingsley Shacklebolt, Minerva Mcgonagall and Horace Slughorn at the same time then blowing them away with a force explosion when he sees Bellatrix die. Then Harry fights him. This would have been added a max of 5 minutes to the film but would have made it so much better. Should of shown Remus and Tonks dying, and Fred dieng, but it did add things that weren't in the book. Neville on the bridge was interesting and exciting to watch. Overal an 8.5, should of had another 10 minutes to cover what i said. It is the shortest Potter film to date. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The Deathly Hallows Part 1 was a great movie in my opinion, certainly one of the best in the series, it was full of great scenes, mostly because it was taken faithfully from the book. However in splitting the book into two films, they had to squeeze about 10 chapters into a full length movie. This led to a need to grossly diverge many of the locations and events from the actual book, and a lot of important elements were missed out, as well as unwanted ones added. It's such a shame when they have to resort to Cliches such as Harry and Voldermort both crawling broken towards their wands like some sort of action thriller, and I don't remember the bit in the book where Harry and Voldermort jump struggling off a cliff.

Other minor details annoy me as well, for example one of Malfoys 'henchman' was replaced by a black student in the room of requirement scene where Harry is finding the diodem. I mean, is racial equality that bad that every scene now needs to have an even distribution, so much so that they change a scene from the book (Crabbe dieing, or was it Goyle, I'm not too sure. Instead now some random character they invented dieing.) Also instead of killing Snape in the Shrieking Shack they decided to move that absolutely classic scene into the Hogwarts boathouse, which just felt another unneeded cliche to make it look slightly more epic.

Don't get me wrong though, the movie was entertaining enough, but way more of the same. We've already seen the epic Red vs Green wand clash about twice in the series now, and it happened again, multiple times in the film. But at least they managed to make Voldemorts death look slightly less climactic and sudden as it was in the book.

So to summarise, I found the film to be one of the weakest in the series, even if it was alright. Nothing really new was seen, despite it being the conclusion to an epic saga. Due to the decision to stretch the book into two films, Part 2 came seriously lacking in my opinion, and some people I've spoken to even found it to be a slog. But, if you are a Harry Potter fan or not I'd reccommend at least going to see the film. In fact if you are not a fan of the books you'll probably enjoy it even more.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I loved the movie, which I saw in 3D on an IMAX screen. Very exhilarating. Don't be put off because it isn't exactly like the book. For everything they left out, there's something they left in that actually works better onscreen. For example, the epic battle at Hogwarts by night is so much more exciting in the movie. I was moved at the point where the professors use their wands to cast a protective veil over Hogwarts, and the light show when Voldemort's army attacked it was spectacular. I actually think the cuts were very judicious, and made for a cleaner narrative. Seriously, how would Dumbledore/Grindelwald's backstory have added anything? Better to keep the movies lean than to pad them out to boredom with slavish faithfulness to the text. The only disappointment was the staging of the final confrontation - I wish it had taken place in the Great Hall, under everyone's eyes, as in the book.

Highly recommended.

Let me start by saying this film was perfect in nearly every way, and though some things I say here may imply that I was disappointed in this movie, let me assure you that that is not the case.
Now then. This film departs significantly from the book. If you're looking for a scene-for-scene, event-for-event recreation of the book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, I urge you to reconsider that expectation before going to see this film ADAPTATION of the wonderful book. I stress adaptation because this film was not intended to be an exact recreation of the book; in fact, it was intended to take the plot of the book, and the general events, and portray them in its own way. And it does that fantastically. Each actor matured admirably throughout the series, and all of them have reached what I believe to be their acting peak. None will ever be able to top what they have done here. Director David Yates also performs magnificently, with sweeping battle shots and some good scenes of suspense throughout the hectic film. However, he also chose to exclude the information of Albus Dumbledore's family and younger life. Therein lies my only complaint, though it is a major one.
In conclusion, see this film. I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am fan of the HP books, and went with great expectations to see this movie, Sadly I went out very dissapointed. It was a very superficial, flat vision of the book. The scene with Harry and LV and the end was just created to show up the 3D effects. The most important thing, the core of the whole story the death of LV was incomprehensible and lack of the rich nuances of the book. Other scenes, like the moments before the death of Snape with Nagini on the floor instead of the sphere of the book for example took away the magic details of the magic world and focus on the butchery of regular action movies. I agree with the person who points that David Yates doing have moved the movies away from the books. The only satisfaction I got was seeing such an impeccable cast working together. Expand

Great scenes from Alan Rickman (one of the best in my opinion). Deep and tender, even sad story from him, of course it comes from Rowling. But still good. Also the battles, every each and single little one is epic, and shows what each wizard is capable to do for real. You have not to think anymore, now you have the proves. Maggie Smith, epic too. I wouldn't call myself a hardcore book purist, but I would definitely call myself somewhat of a purist. I'm all for change in the films as long as it makes sense and it works. For Yates' three other films in the series (Order of the Phoenix, Half-Blood Prince, and Deathly Hallows Part 1) I felt he made lots of changes from the books that were not needed and, well, ruined the films for me (Phoenix, Prince and Part 1 are my least favourite Potter films). It's odd, then, for me to still have hope for Part 2, when the last Potter film I enjoyed came out almost 6 years ago. But, alas, I was finally impressed. Part 2 is truly a wonderful film and a fantastic end to the series. The changes made either made sense to me, or were too small for me to worry about. The acting was top-notch. All characters who have always been in the films, though mostly in the background, received their "moment" here and many scenes garnered lots of whoops and applause from the audience. The whole battle was well-made, and this movie really made a fan like me proud to have stuck with the series for so long. However, there are some complaints I have. The movie is called "Harry Potter and the DEATHLY HALLOWS Part 2" yet the significance of the Deathly Hallows aren't given. In fact, it's never discussed that Harry's invisibility cloak is one of the Hallows! There is a little chat about the Hallows in the beginning of the film, and then they are never talked about again. There are also the "emotional" scenes. The main scenes in this story that are supposed to be sad are, without spoiling too much, the revealing of several characters' deaths, a look back at a certain character's memories, and a scene in the forest afterwards. Though this scenes were well done in the movie, they didn't have me close to tears like they did in the books. This is really the biggest problem I had; the movie didn't feel too emotional or touching. I was expecting my eyes to at LEAST get a little teary, but they never did. Another scene, in which a certain mother calls another character a very naughty word, felt rushed, which is truly a shame as it was one of the most hyped up scenes. Overall, however, I was impressed and I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It truly is the first Harry Potter movie since Goblet of Fire that left me quite happy. I will forever miss this series and will miss waiting and getting all excited for a new book and, now, a new movie. JK Rowling and the cast and crew of the movies have truly given me a wonderful childhood and a marvelous 10 years. Thank you. Expand

What a ride it has been growing up with the movies, starting when I was 6 and ending as I am 15. When I hadn't seen the movie, I couldn't possible have imagined a childhood with Harry Potter, and now, 10 years later I cannot imagine what it would have been like without him. I'd like to thank everyone, who helped every HP book come to life, EVERYONE! Also, don't think I'm forgetting Jane K. Rowling - the person responsible for this epic saga's creating. I am forever grateful to her for that. I give this movie 10 points, without doubt, but with also great sadness about the saga coming to an end. I understand it had to have ended some time, but still, I am pretty emotional. Like I did a marathon of 7 HP movies before going to the cinema to watch DH2, I would like to to in the future. I suggest you do the same :). Good luck to everyone in their future endeavours, whom I also thanked, and I will most certainly miss the characters! Expand

It is a good solid movie but no more nor less. 3D effects could be better, story, acting, ending were good.
If you're a Harry Potter fan then you should watch this movie.

This is the opening weekend, and the reviewers are all raving... and they are all wrong; it's like they saw a different film than I did -- is it because I didn't read the book? I've generally enjoyed the films, but this was far from the best Potter film -- and frankly it leaves me continuing to wonder how this series managed to stay so beloved and highly hyped for so long. Really, this is what it was all building to for all these years?

The kids put on Prisoner of Azkaban this morning; ah, the good 'ol days.

"The Boy Who Lived" doesn't disappoint and I rank this finale right up there with "Lord of the Rings - Return of the King." It turns out that the powers to be had it right when they decided to split the last book into two movies. I just wish that their release dates hadn't been so far apart. The acting as always is superb and I wonder if the Academy will once again ignore the actors in this franchise come awards season, the way they ignored the actors in the Lord of the Rings films. I've been going to the movies for almost 60 years and this is the first time I can remember being in a packed theater that was completely quiet for two hours and ten minutes. Unfortunately, this film is another 3D presentation that didn't need the 3D effects. This movie is good enough in 2D to rank as one of the greatest films of all time. Put it right up there with the original Star Wars, The Godfather and whatever else is your personal favorite film. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you're a fan of the films you will enjoy this greatly, for it brings an end to Harry Potters journey and wraps it up in a neat little bow. However, if you are a fan of the books, like myself, you will be disappointed, for the great amount of detail and important side stories left out, which left me feeling a bit empty. Things like the ignorance of the deaths of certain characters (eg: Fred being killed off screen), lack of reactions to Voldermorts and Snapes deaths were just a small selection of anti-climatic moments. I could go on and list everything the film failed to include but it would be better to just go and re-read the books as the films, especially this one, don't do them justice. Expand

I picks up right from where the first one left off, and the action starts right away. There is a point in the movie where everything is pretty much summed up from most of the films (everything significant anyway) And your awaiting the magnificent ending and it sure did deliver. The bad thing about this film is the fact that it ended. Its sad that there wont be anymore of these films, but your still happy that all is right in the wizarding world. Even if seeing a harry potter film was a bargain sometimes because of not knowing how good its going to be. Its nice to see that they finished off this series with a huge bang. I will definitely be seeing this one again, hopefully very soon. Expand

I likedI will start my review by saying that I've read the book but its been more than two years so I've forgotten about it and wouldn't be making any comparisons. There are parts that I liked a lot and there are also parts that I disliked. I liked almost every scene but Snape stood out. Snape was wonderful in this film, his story, his scenes and the acting was brilliant. Voldemort was also great in this film. Everyone acted well so I won't be complaining about bad acting. Now to the parts that I didn't really like. Fred Weasley and Lupin's death. They died in a very anticlimactic way. It wasn't as sad as it was supposed to be. These two are important characters. They just showed their dead bodies and that's it. Another thing is that Malfoy, Hagrid and other supporting characters didn't appear that much. The epilogue is something that I have mixed feelings about. It was in the book and I think it gave the film makers a hard time. The cool thing about the epilogue is seeing how the characters grew and seeing their children going to their same school. The not-so-good thing is that the actors looked silly. The boys (Harry, Ron and Malfoy) looked like normal adults but the girls looked almost the same. Hermione looks like she didn't even age. But the epilogue and other minor bad things didn't ruin the film for me. Harry Potter and Deathly Hallows Part 2 is great film and a good and satisfying conclusion to the series. Expand

It is 'unfocused, supernatural-themed sludge.' 'Director David Yates moves at only two speeds: Super-charged yet not impactful and laboured and faux-majestic stillness. He constantly misjudges moments by underplaying events that should be cool, like jumping off of a dragon.' Not to mention the missed details in the books. I'm not saying that you could fit eveything IN, but I'm sure if Yates tightened up the sloow, soap opera style lifetime tv movie (which incidentally, was the whole of his career before Potter) Harry Potter since the Order of the Phoenix wouldn't be these 'dreary [slogs]' of movies.
