If you somehow did not get your fill of bloody violence and terror at the hands of Michael Myers in the previous entry, Halloween Kills, you will probably find this movie lacking. However, if you're willing to accept a more slow-paced thriller with a new take on the Halloween mythos, you'll probably really enjoy this movie. This feels like the kind of movie not made for general audiences, but could become a cult classic in ten years. Expand

For those not liking this movie y'all are missing the point. The parallels between Lauri, Michael, and Corey was it was yrs later and people had moved on no longer enraged or fearing Michael which is what gave him strength (explained in Halloween Kills). From the aftermath the town then focused their ire on Lauri. Both Michael (physically) and Lauri (mentally) were left weakened from the experience. Corey who was weak, was bullied but grew stronger after his encounter with Michael and killing the homeless man and the rest of his victims. Michael grew stronger when Corey brought Officer Mulaney in the sewer to be killed (where Michael lived as a homage to the Return of Michael Myers where he was nursed back to health before killing the homeless man who nursed him). After killing Nurse Deb Michael grew slightly stronger the same way Lauri grew stronger once she realized she had to protect her granddaughter from Corey. Corey's intent was for he or Michael to kill Lauri so Allyson (even though she was gonna leave) wouldn't have anymore ties to Haddonfield. With Michael back the town would've forgotten about Corey as being a psycho. In the end Michael wasn't fueled by enough anger or fear to be the killing machine he truly is but still could've killed Lauri who didn't have enough hope left to fight him. Michaels main scene in this movie was just to finish the job and kill the ultimate Final Girl Lauri which was the culmination of all of these movies. Also I think Corey killed that kid Jeremy I don't think it was an accident like it was portrayed in the movie. A Director's Cut will be great for this movie to piece certain things together. This movie'll be a Cult Classic as more people start to "get it". Mark my words.

Could've been a much better finale chapter for this trilogy, but overall i appreciate how (David Gordon Green’s) did something very new and took risks. The battle between Laurie and Michael Myers at the end was iconic but short. What matters is that Laurie won. Expand

This is something else. ‘It’ is something else.

Wow. That was unbelievable. Such a ride from beginning to end. "Halloween Ends" is not what I expected. It is far better. David Gordon Green has crafted such a beautiful conclusion in a way that doesn’t follow any of the previous movies. There’s a mystery transcending Mystic. He found a way to craft not suspense, but supernatural evil. Evil and violence as diseases or sicknesses to which any of us may be vulnerable. Maybe that's what made this unsettling. I felt vulnerable.

“Halloween Night 2019” appears on the screen. Now, this had me doing mental math for about ten minutes before I inevitably gave up the ghost. "Halloween 2018" and "Halloween Kills" take place on the same night 40 years after John Carpenter's original masterpiece Halloween. Corey Cunningham (Rohan Campbell) is our babysitter the following Halloween. When you see Laurie Strode that is this year, 2022, four years after Michael returned.

Welcome "Halloween Ends" with an open mind. It’s slow and steady suspense. As the scent of a candle slowly diffuses throughout a room Halloween Ends transforms into the Halloween, we all know and love.

The music will have you wondering if you’re in the right theater. I assure you that is indeed the case. The background music is like something from a cartoon. “What am I watching?” I thought. I don’t recall any Halloween movie starting this way. The movie opens with Corey babysitting for a married couple. Unimaginable tragedy strikes and the aftermath leaves him traumatized to the present day.

Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis) narrates her memoir in progress at home with her granddaughter. Unlike the previous two installments, Laurie is living a normal life. My first thought is, “She is not prepared for Michael.” She has gone from living as a hermit in the woods awaiting Michael’s return to living in a town where she’s ostracized. From the townspeople lies a real sense that Michael is not a force of nature but either a run-of-the-mill serial killer suffering from mental impairment.
It is exactly the opposite which makes the shape so disturbing. There is no provocation. And where are these folks getting the idea Michael is impaired and a victim of abuse from Laurie? Absurd.

Michael is just evil seemingly transcendent at moments. Four years later, I witnessed Corey struggle with verbal abuse, self-blame, guilt, loss of a promising life & assault. But almost immediately you can tell something isn’t right with him. Something is missing, an emptiness has infiltrated not from the outside but from within. How is that possible? When you watch notice how Corey shifts in demeanor.

Allyson (Andi Matichak) has repaired the relationship with Laurie following the death of her mother. Outside of that Allyson is very lonely. Laurie is all she has yet it becomes clear she seeks a romantic partner. LAURIECOREY, PSYCHOPATH OR FREAKSHOW

Laurie is Corey’s savior, and dare I say friend when they first cross paths. Only she could empathize with his predicament. Both carry the “babysitter scar” of Michael in unique ways. It is asked, “which one are you freakshow or psychopath?”

A game of cat and mouse emerges between the two. In the absence of Michael, Corey fills in as a substitute teacher. He begins to exhibit “symptoms”. Rohan's character grows fascinated by Michael. He is present where the shape would’ve been during Carpenter’s original Halloween. The question becomes not who is Corey but what is he?

Notice how he moves from here on out. Let me ask you this: Is the shape Michael Myers as an individual or is it infectious like an idea or sickness?

Of course, Michael has to make an appearance otherwise it wouldn’t be Halloween. It is fitting where he’s been chilling all this time. Via a comment made by a homeless man, it’s revealed that Michael has been surviving not in hibernation mode.

Michael is aged and rusted in a sense. As he kills there’s a physical revival. Halloween Kills concluded with Laurie stating “The more he kills. The more he transcends.” Well, what does he transcend into? Gordon explores this and allows Michael to strike Laurie closer to home than ever before.

Michael has another enemy this go-round. Someone who seeks to take his power. Three epic battles are progressing and concluding at the same time.

Overall, Halloween Ends scares in all the right places. It’s unsettling to the core and edges you forward with intrigue. You won’t feel quite right when exiting the theater. G#d help you if you leave into the night.

Funny enough as I left the cinema someone yelled out “Is that Michael??!!” The response was, “No, that’s Jarred.”

This is not a slasher.
This movie does something that legacy sequels rarely do, it continues the idea of the first movie.
This is not a movie about Michael, this is not a movie about cutting people out for the enjoyment of viewers. This is a movie about evil. Evil, which was also the theme of the first film. How it corrupts, how it changes people, how it permeates and marks people. How it change shape...

The film tells the story of how when society thinks we're evil, we end up believing it and we start being evil. The plot parables are great, the subject, despite the fact that it is heavy, was lifted with extraordinary grace. This is brilliant psychological movie, but bad slasher. Enjoy what it is, not what it was advertised.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Some parts I wish they would have explored deeper, like Michael living in the sewer for 4 years. But I enjoyed the ending and Laurie finally getting to live her life.
I do feel like they left it open to make more. Laurie closes out her book saying that evil doesn't die, it just changes shape. I have said since the end of the first one that Allyson was going to be the new Michael. That would be an interesting concept...to have one of Laurie's relatives releasing that kind of terror into the world.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, it was not as bad as the reviews have said. You need to not watch this expecting Oscar-worthy performances. Watch this as just another Halloween slasher movie & a continuation of the Lori saga. The story continuation itself was excellent, JLC's acting was fantastic, & while it wasn't much of a hack & slack film like most of the previous ones (I didn't think the last one was very scary either) it was still an average movie worth watching. If I had to classify this as anything, it's not a typical horror movie, I'd consider a new sub-category: horror-drama. That's what most of this & the previous film seemed like to me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Halloween Ends was better then the last one but was for me somewhat of a disappointing conclusion to the stories of Michael and Laurie. The writing was main problem it just wasn't great; the dialogue was cheesy at time, I really didn't like the decision to have the character Corey try to be the new Michael Myers and do the majority of the killings in the movie he basically replaced Michael in the majority of the movie, I didn't love the way Michael died, I liked the fight between Laurie and Michael's fight, but felt it was somewhat anticlimactic with crushing his body, and I didn't like the small screentime of Lindsey and of Michael and Laurie together but I like that they still were able to come up with interesting kills and that they really killed Michael Myers. The performances of Jamie Lee Curtis, Rohan Campbell, Andi Matichak, and Kyle Richards were superb. The special effects were outstanding. Overall I wanted more from Halloween Ends, the conclusion of the Halloween series and the characters of Michael Myers and Laurie Strode. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What I like about This film is that unlike many of its predecessors, there is a large focus on the reasoning for its villain's killings. The focus of the film is on Curtis, a young man who slowly descends into madness after accidently killing a child he was babysitting. Curtis is a very complex and well-constructed character, and the film's general story is very good. However, the lack of focus on Michael Myers and Laurie Makes this an unsatisfactory "conclusion." Although, if you pretend that this is some type of remake, or a standalone Psychological Thriller, then there's a whole lot of enjoyment to be had. Expand

Horror movie that claims to be the last movie of the series made in 2022. None of the episodes that have been called the last so far have been final. So a year or two later it could be retranslated as "Halloween Paranormal" or "HalloweenHorror movie that claims to be the last movie of the series made in 2022. None of the episodes that have been called the last so far have been final. So a year or two later it could be retranslated as "Halloween Paranormal" or "Halloween Reincarnation". There's no peace for Michael without killing Laurie. In this film, for the first time, Michael trained a student. It was the first time he had the mask stolen. It was the first time he was beaten by someone else. It's the first time he's killed fewer people. And for the first time he's left without a mask. But for the first time, I can't say he died. Because he died dozens of times. He cannot die no matter what "he lives in our hearts".

I'm also very curious how Michael sneaks into the houses. Think about it, the man who always moves slowly is dealing with a lock pick or something in front of the door. Or when you look there, you look again and it disappeared in 2 seconds. Does he run away with his heels hitting his butt at that time?

Going back to the movie, I think it was a simpler-than-expected ending for a phenomenon serial killer. I would have expected a more striking and satisfying ending for a series that lasted more than 40 years. He nearly died of natural causes, and Laurie would be paranoid from waiting year after year. Before I finish my writing, I cannot help but say that I have always been a fan of the soundtrack of the film. I got goosebumps when I heard it after the opening scene. I am a fan of this movie.

There is no sex or nudity in the movie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Michael Myers i back and this time... he's an old weak fart who can barely stand on his own legs, 4 years after taking on a dussin armed people like it was nothing. At least he is from the little we actually see of him. In this final movie he's only a side character. Instead, we have a slow burn psychological drama thriller about Laurie's young granddaughter Allyson falling in love with a bad boy who has a dark side and is driving a motorcycle (yes, really).
And Laurie Strode has decided to stop hating and fearing Michael (who's not much to fear anymore, to be honest) and instead are writing a Self Help book about her experience (again, yes, really).
And despite the director claiming Michael doesn't care about Laurie he still ends up in a battle with her once again, that feels more like two old people fighting at a nursing home.
This is not how a long time Halloween fan wanted this series to end, or how I expected it to be after Halloween Kills that was as different from this movie as it can be.

Also a little late in the game to introduce a new character named Corey wrongly accused of murder. With everything more about him than Michael. It feels like a Halloween movie but a slow one with not enough Michael Myers. It’s more about Allyson falling for Corey as he loses his humanity more and more. Sorry, but for the last of the series. We want Michael, not a poser.
The movie isn’t the Laurie and Michael centered movie we wanted. You’d think it would be one big revenge movie since Michael killed Laurie’s daughter. Instead I am not sure Laurie even mentions her daughter once.
Halloween Ends doesn’t remember it’s about Laurie and Michael until like the last 10 minutes. It is a decent but totally unfocused movie. That tries so hard to be not what you expected it to be. However you might wish it was predictable and the movie you were hoping for.

This idea could of been attempted in the many Halloween sequels leading up this, but the Director and the writers (four in total) chose the wrong time to attempt this strategy. We do not see the Boogeyman (Myers) until like halfway through the movie and barely see him for more than 20 minutes. Laurie Strode is involved a little more often but is more of the secondary cast for this movie. The movie introduces 2 new and uncompelling characters and feels like a set up for a sequel. Too bad (and thankfully) there will not be one. Expand

In this "final" installment, Laurie Strode (Jamie Lee Curtis), still reeling from the previous events that occurred in 'Halloween 2018' and 'Halloween Kills' finds herself facing off against Michael Myers one last time while also attempting to reconcile with her granddaughter (Andi Matichak). What started off as such a fresh, promising, and exciting reboot series with 'Halloween 2018' four years ago quickly started to show early signs of delving into quick gloom and doom slasher cliche territory with 'Kills' last year, and this one sadly not only dives even further into that but also reaches bottom of the barrel territory. This one is surprisingly more of a slow burn compared to the previous two entries, but unfortunately, this results in quite a drag with very few kills or true frights, which is the whole point of these films (or so I thought), and instead trades this in favor of one long hour and fifty minute-long moral debate about evil, inner demons, letting go of the past, blah blah blah. Furthermore, we're treated (or rather subjected to) a forced, corny, and cliched romance between Matichak and newcomer Rohan Campbell who plays a mysterious man with a tortured past that the film's opening scene explores. This, along with much of the accompanying dialogue, is pure cringe. My only positive note: Curtis gives it her all for her supposedly final performance as Strode, the role that launched her into stardom back in 1978 with the original film. Otherwise, there's really not much worth seeing her, no matter how epic her showdown with Michael may be. Overall, director David Gordon Green and writer/producer Danny McBride showed such promise and potential with this reboot series initially with 'Halloween 2018' and left me excited for more over these past few years, but this one left me wishing that they simply would've just stopped with '2018' and that 'Kills' and this film would've never happened. It all ends with such an underwhelming and unsatisfying whimper that doesn't even come close to doing Curtis's iconic final girl heroine the justice that it so rightly deserved after nearly 45 years. Sadly its more disappointment with another action thriller take on the horror classic. Literally dragging the bones of its lead menace into yet another murder spree with a new spread of fetishistic kills - tongue on a record player anyone? The fan fiction screenplay and pacing issues simply reduce plot to near exposition removing any tension from building and fails to provide any true scares. An entertaining mess of a film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is in a strange spot to me, Halloween 2018 is a phenomenal continuation of the original story, Halloween Kills rode on that fame and continued in all the wrong ways leading to a much worse film, and now finally Halloween Ends. Most of the characters "relationships" are build unnaturally fast and people seems to just be irrational in more ways than one. The characters still make strange decisions (I know it's a horror movie and the characters are never smart, but this is a new and shocking amount of stupidity.) Myers has a sidekick who just becomes his sidekick with little to no reasonable or rational explanation. He wasn't even the heir to Myers because he still dies. The final fight to end Myers was lackadaisical in writing, I feel like it didn't have the emotional grab like the originals or the 2018 one. This movie does have some good parts, I liked the whole beginning half of the movie, but it takes a weird direction as soon as Myers is shown that just didn't work for me. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. If you enjoy the original Halloween films, particularly 1 & 2, then you’ll probably want to watch regardless of reviews. The reviews shoveling praise onto this film must be bots. Let’s just say it’s disappointing compared to the previous two films, which weren’t standouts on their own beyond returning to the franchise roots. A solid 40min of slow buildup for a character and relationship that seems foreign and inauthentic to the established characters. It was unique in that it tried to convey how evil can grip anyone, but it just wasn’t executed well.
Plenty of gore, and quality kills. Very little suspense and a disappointing plot all in all. It completely ignores how he could endure so much physical trauma without death only to die by a couple stab wounds and arterial bleeding in a five minute conclusion to 40 years of terror.

I don't think this was a good move as it was completely off-putting and a lot of other things in the movie seemed like they were added in for satirical purposes, like they were trying to make fun of themselves for making the movie in the first place.

The filming was somewhat okay, but everything else was awful. It's hard to come up with new stories to a series that has been going for so long and has already had to erase so many mistakes in the past, but this wasn't the way to do it. What a horrible end, but I guess with that, they couldn't do much worse.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a let down after the first 2 movies in this modern sequel trilogy to the original film. Halloween 2018 was great, Halloween kills had its flaws mostly the irritating/cringe chanting of "evil dies tonight", and the shoddy end sequence that's got no follow through. And that's one of the big issues with Halloween ends, it doesn't pick up where the last one ended, like kills did. Instead you get out of place music, and an introduction of a new character who's entire presence in the film is what ruins it, its unnecessary, and it takes up 95% of the plot, there is almost zero Michael in the film, and does nothing to build lore or background or even explain how the hell he is even still alive after being beaten, stabbed repeatedly, and shot no insignificant number of times. And the new characters ark is not even interesting, his character is annoying, his ark is worse, and we are supposed to care about his inclusion in a movie about Michael Myers.
His addition renders the iconic slasher protag to a short cameo in his own film, and the climax fight, was short and very one sided against him. This finale is akin in quality to season 8 ending game of thrones, it takes what was set up, and all the potential, and just throws it away, Halloween ends ruins this trilogy, and sends it off with a stinker of a whimper. The only enjoyable moment for me, was the way they killed the radio DJ, i thought it was amusing, and had great effects, but again was not even MM doing the kill. If you need closure, watch the film, but in my opinion its not worth the time, and better just assume MM dies off camera of his injuries, after kills.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I’m writing this with the assumption that this is the final installment in the franchise. My main gripe about this movie is the fact that almost none of the killing is performed by Michael himself, but instead some mundane nobody protege named Corey Culligan. He chance encounters Michael in the sewer, and falls under some form of mind control. it’s implied Michael is vicariously killing through Corey, which is fine, have them go on a killing spree together, but instead boring and insipid Corey shoulders the weight of the load while Michael mostly twiddles his thumbs in a dainty sewer. We came to see Michael, not Corey, Michael!! You’ll only witness him kill three people, and the methods utilized in these kills seems so uninspired. My second gripe is the lack of creativity in the kills. It seems like they’re intentionally shying away from a more gruesome take on the deaths, likely to pander to a wider audience, but that’s disappointing when you consider it’s a show about a super charged serial killer. There were maybe two interesting kills in the entire movie. This is a horror movie. Go crazy with it. My third and final gripe is the awful story and the unsatisfying finale, which was handled quite lazily. They essentially relegated Michael to just a man, and then tried to insinuate his mask imbued him with his power. They then manage to incapacitate him with a simple throat slash, long enough to where they can haul him to a wood chipper with the entire town in tow. This doesn’t make sense when you take into account the considerable amount of punishment Michael has endured in previous movies, with or without the mask. Don’t even get me started on the beginning either. It’s nearly an hour or so before you’ll witness your first intentional murder, and the duration before is a corny romantic cringe fest I didn’t want to see in a movie about Michael Myers. The dialogue is pitiful, the characters are unlikable, and again, this has no place in a movie about Michael Myers, at least not as a focal point of the plot.

I understand this is John Carpenter and Jaime Lee Curtis’ creation, but in my opinion their creation is taking a nose dive down a steep cliff. I’m very dissatisfied with what I watched. Thank you

Yes, that's a fascinating quote on a fascinating subject. One for which this story certainly didn't have the tools to explore.
And the trauma. There was a lot to take from there and exploit it with other elements, but boy did they **** the bed with this one.

Halloween Ends is actually 2 movies.
The first one goes absolutely nowhere; it's worthless and consumes almost all the running time.
The other one starts in the last 15 minutes, unfortunately those 15 minutes are the only thing that matters, and to get there you have to go through everything else.

What a ****ty way to end what looked really good back in 2018.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Halloween does indeed come to an end, but unfortunately, so does the franchise's dignity. This movie triumphantly shows its new OC, Corey as the successor to Michael but also doesn't treat Michael with the same amount of menace or respect we've come to known him in other films. Rather, it has Michael merely as a concept and an idea that we as the audience, must project the idea that evil is not the Boogeyman, but a transferrable virus caused by our nurture. Michael contradicts this idea and is evil by nature. Therefore, the film treats him as a disposable entity, contradicting the themes in Halloween 2018 and Ends. This movie tries further to be more subversive and reject Michael but in the end, can't hold enough of its plot to find proper pacing, a consistent message and enough screen time for Michael to have any impact or menace. A very poor movie indeed. I like Corey as a character, but not at the cost of him becoming an object for the film's message about society being corrupted by violence and pain. Expand

Fundamentally this is not a Halloween film. It is an attempt to pass the torch whilst also ending the whole thing. Starting with the good points before I tear it apart. The music is mostly good, the original Halloween composition holds up very well and is distinctive and haunting. The ending theme doesn’t work though. Characters, acting and direction are good. Technical aspects are fantastic and the practical/visual effects are flawless. There are some good kills and impeccable gore which is not so extreme that it is distracting and doesn’t ruin the impact. The movie is ruined by really bad writing. There are some interesting ideas although they are lacking any real substance. It hugely deviates from the Halloween formula. This movie is full of dumb character decisions and everyone always seems to turn up at the exact right time for no reason. It is slow and boring. The ending is stupid and it is copied directly from Texas Chainsaw (2013). This is not the worst sequel in the franchise, that crown belongs to Halloween: Resurrection (2002) but it is still not worth watching any of these Blumhouse sequels. It’s bad, but not as bad as I was expecting. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After 12 previous entries, fans deserve a better--more satisfying--conclusion than what's on offer here. John Carpenter's Halloween is a model of narrative economy, succeeding largely on expert pacing and atmospheric dread. From the beginning, the focus is on Laurie and the Shape. The latter assumes a prominent role even when he's off-screen as the other characters either talk about him or allude to stand-ins (the oft-cited 'boogeyman').

The team behind this sadly hodge-podge affair take the opposite tack. They try to juggle multiple concurrent plotlines, none of which are especially cohesive or interesting. Contrary to the film's marketing, Laurie isn't even the main character; instead, the focal point (insomuch as there is one) is her granddaughter, Allyson and Allyson's misunderstood love interest, Corey. Their supposed romance is not only dimwitted but stultifyingly dull. Moreover, the Shape barely appears and when he does, his behavior is inexplicable set against longstanding canon. This mystifying choice is compounded by ham-fisted attempts to turn him into a literalized metaphor for the dissemination of evil. Let's just say David Gordon Green is no Luis Bunuel.

Unfortunately, these attempts to give the film 'layers' it can't support contribute to the film's overarching aimlessness. For a film that bears the weight of capping off a cult favorite series, it's surprisingly meandering. Characters make decisions without any evident rationale or simply against all reason. The result is a chopped-up mess--and not the kind you'd expect given the genre. Don't get me wrong. I'm sympathetic to the notion of doing something unexpected. But that's about all I can admire about this effort. Its formlessness renders any attempts at real scares or tension moot. Only in the climactic 15 minutes or so does the film find its footing, however shaky. The ultimate showdown between Laurie and the Shape is all-too-simple and brief--hardly the cathartic event fans hoped for. The post-violence coda, which has the feel of an 80s-style Afterschool Special, only adds insult to injury.

It feels like the director didn't have any story in mind for the conclusion of Michael and Laurie so brought a random character to pad the time. This doesn't remotely feel like a Halloween movie and instead feels like someone shoved another movie into it. I'm angry at the director for thinking this story was acceptable. Halloween H20 and even Halloween (2018) were a better finale to the franchise than Halloween Ends. I recommend just watching Halloween (2018) and not even bothering with Kills and Ends. Halloween Ends fails to deliver a proper satisfying finale while being a movie with a lot of missed opportunities. Michael should've just died in the fire because this is lame and disrespectful. God awful. What a terrible attempt to make things interesting yet again. Slips right into the same garbage tier as the last entry.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. What a genuinely disappointing ending to what started so promising. The first DGG Halloween was very enjoyable. The second was a letdown - filled with stupid characters and bad writing - but set up an epic showdown... that didn't happen until the last 15 minutes of this film. Unfortunately, the director/writers tried to do too much and ignored precedent that proved true yet again. As interesting as it may seem in a pitch meeting to do the antithesis of Michael Meyers (intentionally killed his sister while she was supposed to be babysitting him) with Corey (accidentally killed the kid he was babysitting)... it's not what the fans wanted. The fans wanted Michael v Laurie - as was teased in the previous two films. Instead, we got 90 mins of doofus Ted Bundy (he was being bullied by marching band high school students for goodness sake!!!) and Final Girl's version of Romeo & Juliet and 15 minutes of what was advertised. Speaking of... It's clear the studio knew what audiences wanted, because the film was marketed as Michael v Laurie. The decision to allow this garbage to be made was absolutely disrespectful to the audience and a clear money grab. Hopefully, this occurs less and less now that legal precedence has been established to allow audiences to sue movie studios for false advertising (Universal is being sued for advertising Ana De Armas was in a movie even though her role was cut from the film).

In the end, this movie will go down as the 'Friday the 13th Part IV' installment of the Halloween franchise. Even if they take the series to space next, it'll be more memorable than whatever film this was.

Giving it a 2 instead of a zero because I did enjoy the 10-15 minutes we got after Michael puts the mask back on and finally faces off with Laurie.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I am so disappointed and thankful I streamed instead of paying for theater tickets. What a god awful mess. They did Michael and Laurie dirty big time. Halfway through I started playing on my phone. The plot was a mess. Hardly saw Michael in it. When we finally did he was weak and got his ass kicked and his mask stolen by some psycho kid who started to look at Michael as a role model of sorts. Then they do a tag team murder? Expand

Went for a slasher got a melodramatic tween drama, feel a little tricked. I understand changing up the formula but changing the entire genre. Gave it a 2 as there was 1 creative death but this movie heavily sucked.

Also, it makes you wonder why this was a trilogy when it had nothing to do with the previous entries. I'd watch Halloween Resurrection every day for a month before I watched this again. F this movie.

As a lifetime Halloween fanatic (i.e. a Michael Myers buff) who was very much invested in the last two movies, Ends is like waking up on Christmas morning to a Festivus pole. If you expect this movie to reward you or resolve any of the story so far, then prepare to have the bluest balls you have ever had. It might have value as a movie on its own, but to have this as the trilogy capper (complete with a randomly pasted-on climactic fight) is unforgivably lazy. To have Michael at the height of his powers at the end of Kills, only to lead into *this* version of him... what a giant, neon middle finger. They just froze and gave up as if they forgot how storytelling works. They really thought they could take us for a ride, kick us out of the car two thirds of the way there and go off-road. Hey ding dongs, FIRST you finish what you started, THEN in a few years you try your little alternate Michael-verse side-quest concept crap.

Well,Paul Rudd isn't in it. There's no voodoo curses. Laurie isn't Michael's sister. Rob Zombie's fingerprints aren't anywhere to be found. I always try to look on the bright side of things.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is one of those films that if you manage to finish it, you're asking yourself, "What were they thinking?"

Halloween Ends is supposed to be the final in a new trilogy to the Halloween franchise. The first two films weren't terrible, but this last one goes completely off the road with what's expected from a Halloween flick.

They took the focus from Michelle Myers and instead decided to spend most of the movie on a relationship between two victims and the psychological effect Michelle had on the town of Haddonfield.

Myers finally makes his appearance, much later than he should have, to reveal that he is badly beaten and injured from his last encounter and I guess he now has the ability to psychically control people? How does that even work when most of the other films establish he is more of a force of nature than anything else? He always gets back up, that's what makes him dangerous.

Eventually the entire town gets together to basically funeral march Michelle down to the local dump to throw his body in a grinder. Even though the movie spent a majority of it's time reinforcing the idea that people either don't believe in Michelle or blame his family for what happened. It's weird and surreal, especially given the context the film provides. Seriously, this film is a mess. Hopefully some day someone will get their hands on the franchise and do it some justice.
