Although I was in college during the same time Brandon Burlsworth was, I just now discovered him - due this movie. After I saw the trailer, I read up on Brandon prior to watching the movie. To be honest, I was not expecting much from the movie, but was I wrong. While many will dismiss this as a heavy handed, beat you over the head spiritual essay on God's mysterious ways, it's actually much more than that: it's an opportunity for us to realize how fleeting this life is, and the importance of actions over words. Brandon Burlsworth's life, faith and work ethic may be exaggerated to some degree (as most "based on a true story" tales often are); but the undeniable fact remains that he is regarded by many as one of the greatest walk-on players in college football history. Ever. That distinction and the effect that his legacy continues to have to this day, over 20 years later, gives a ring of authenticity to the type of man that Brandon was. This movie is not for the cynical, but if you want to enjoy a Rudy-esque tale with some emotional heft, then I recommend that you watch Greater.… Expand

A sports-biography, about an American footballer who came over many obstacles to become a successful player in college level league. Being a fat and youngest in his family, he had to go a long way to become what he wanted to be. This is an inspiring film for sports aspirants. Decently made film by an unknown director with good performances in it.

Whatever it is, or you call it, for me it is a B movie, a fine one. Neal McDonough was the most recognisable face around and he was the backbone of the film after the lead character. The story was told from his perspective and was a bit emotional film than I thought. I don't know this game at all, but I can know what's going on, particularly hard working people to achieve some big in their life.

It is not a popular American film among Americans itself, but if you had heard about it and looking for a confident boost, this will do fine. Usually people would say a film like this is a must see, but I think it is worth a watch rather to call it not to be missed.

This might be one of the most underrated sports movie ever made. A little on the religious side but that was this kid’s story. It may not be Rudy but Brandon Burlsworth surpasses all expectations and then some. I’ve added this movie to the 10 best sports films I’ve seen. Don’t base your opinion on this movie because 4 “pro” reviewers gave it a 3.5, if scores matter, check the user reviews. Again religion might as well been a character. If you are atheist or agnostic like I am, it sort of feels forced. But I can look past that because the story is true and amazing... Life is too short to sit through boring movies. No, it’s not good. Stop saying it is. Someone I know loves this movie and tells everyone to watch it and calling it the best. I would’ve said it was mediocre, but now I think it’s just bad.
