I have come up with the concept of normie long before it was created. Other than that it was also because I came from a very conservative family. I was not allowed to watch movies in theatre, especially not a Hollywood one. So as all the kids used to talk about it I grew into hating it. And when this movie came on TV I only watched it with a critical point of view. It was only years after when I watched it and truly appreciated it.
Finding Nemo is a very colourful movie filled with many sea creatures. It is an excellent movie that can teach children about the different types of marine life. I have heard about how everyone started hunting for clownfish after this movie came up. Although this is a bit sad and very cruel thing to do it also shows the impact that this movie was able to create and how much people enjoyed watching it. The fishes were shown in a very cute manner, especially the pufferfish.
The only problem I have with this movie is the lack of a story. It's just a fish going from point A to point B. Although this does make for a good story since it helps in character development and world building, but these things should not be done while completely sacrificing a good story. I think I really like this movie and I will watch that once again to truly appreciate it.

It wasn't the studio's firstThis film was one of those that marked a generation and consolidated the upward trajectory of Pixar, a studio that, for nearly ten years, had been threatening Disney's monopoly as the top studio in animated film. It wasn't the studio's first feature film to be nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated Film (that honor belongs to "Monsters Inc.", released two years earlier), but it was, in fact, the first to win the coveted award.

The script is relatively simple: after several incidents, a clownfish that lives in the Great Barrier Reef in Australia leaves in search of his son, Nemo, who goes through several adventures and ends up being caught and placed in a home aquarium in Sydney. To succeed in his quest, the tireless father will rely on the unlikely help of another fish, Dory, a sea creature who really seems to have a loose screw in his head. The script was wonderfully developed and works very well, with a moving story full of emotional moments and adventure, being one of those movies that will please the whole family with ease. The characters were conceived with imagination, creativity and are really nice, they stay in the memory and capture our sympathy.

The film is technically elegant and visually magnificent. To me, it was the most visually beautiful film that Pixar made in its initial period, and it still remains one of the most beautiful made by the studio to date. Colorful, with a vibrant range of colors and excellent contrast and saturation, the film is a sight to behold. The tight stroke, the relative realism of the animation (for the time it was impressive, but today there are clearly better and more advanced features), the way it was edited, all helped to make this film magnificent. The range of voice actors is good, and Ellen DeGeneres deserves all the applause for the inspired and committed way in which she lent her voice to Dory. Also noteworthy are the successful efforts of Albert Brooks, Willem Dafoe, Barry Humphries, Eric Bana and Andrew Stanton. The movie also has a good soundtrack and excellent sound effects.

With every PIXAR film in release order, the animation quality increases, and in Finding Nemo's case, the water looks very very convincing. The characters in this movie are very fleshed out especially in the case of Marlin, our main character. Dory, the supporting role and the provider of most of the comedic relief in a rather serious story is in danger of being a nuisance but is delightfully extremely funny and by the end, there was a scene with her and Marlin that almost broke my heart because of how touching it was. This movie is perfect for fans of marine biology, families, and just about everybody. But this movie is specially made for parents. I love how there's no real villain in this story and the plot relies on situational elements to keep it moving forward, so you never know what is going to happen next. Once again, Finding Nemo is another must-see PIXAR film and is a classic at this point. Expand

I believe it is the job of the director to butter up my phallus. The plotline should act as a rimjob to my fleshy Richard, but in this case, it was but a big cockblock to my erotic pleasure.
Lots of Creamy Butter and Stroking of the Flesh did little for my small partner. 0/10.

Finding Nemo
Finding Nemo has characters that are really passionate about a lesson, even though you may not see it. It’s indirect and kids usually won’t get what the lesson means right away. But if they watch they movie they will catch on to it. They may not tell you but their actions will show it.
One lesson that is taught, is to be nice to everyone. For example, Marlin was very nice to Dory even though she wasn’t very helpful at all when they first met. She forgot everything, even if she said it a second ago, she still forgot it. But then later on in the movie, because of Marlin’s kindness to her she started to have more confidence in herself. She started to actually remember things.
Another lesson is to never give up on things or people. Marlin could’ve given up on finding his son. But because he didn’t give up on anything, even though he wanted to. He didn’t give up on Dory, even though he almost did. But it ended up being worth it in the end.
The last lesson I am going to point out to you is to put others before you. After Marlin found Nemo they encountered a boat with a fishing net. The net captured a ton of fish. Nemo told his dad they need to help them. Even though his dad told him no he went to help them anyways. He swam into the net and told them to swim down and the same time. The fish ended up working together and they swam down.
What really makes the movie fun to watch are all the little quotes said in the movie that everyone can resight. Like during the scene where the Nemo and Dory are saying “Fish-Friendly Shark pledge” they say, “Fish are friends, not food.” Or in another part of the movie Dory says, “Just keep swimming,” which has the connotation of to never to give up on anything. And another one every kid knows is, “Shark bait, Oooh HaHa!”
What makes Finding Nemo fun is that it’s appropriate for any age and fun for everyone. I would recommend this movie for any family wanting to have fun with their children.

Filled with wonderful voice-acting, charming characters, a brilliant plot, and animation wonders, Finding Nemo immerses audiences in a world that only Pixar and Disney could bring to the big screen.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Finding Nemo" is one of Pixar's most beloved films for quite a few reasons. this is a film that has a message that can be learned for both children and their parents watching them. This simple story actually has a lot of complex layers in it which makes it a compelling telling of a father ooking for his ong lost child. In true Pixar fashion, they find a way to tug at your heart strings especially in the beginning of the film when Marilyn lost most of his children and his wife to a Barracuda. The attack causes a birth defect in Nemo which causes Marilyn to be overprotective of his son. however Nemo's unwitting capture causes him to search the entire sea in search for him. he later meets Dory voiced by Ellen DeGeneres who gives a pretty remarkable performance as the forgetful fish. The highlight of the journey was Dory's and Marlin's relationship since Dory is a great comic foil to Marilyn and she plays a vital role in letting Marilyn letting his son grow and become his own person since Dory has a disability of her own. I greatly respect the fact that the film makers decided not to have them fall in love as tempting as it probably was. Having a pair consisting of a man and women and having them not fall in love is a pretty usual move especially in Disney movies. I also respect that there is no tacted on Villain even though William Da Foe's chracter was originaly written to be a villain. . It was great to not have a villain because the conflict of Marilyn trying not to be overprotective and rescuing his son was conflict enough. The comedy was well utilized with jokes ranging from the subtle to the over the top. The side characters the protagonists meet on their journey are all distinct and have their own quirks such as sSharks wanting to be friends with Fish to a another fish having OCD. Sometime the message can be hammered in at points but it doesn't do so a t the determent of the experience. Some of the jokes can also get a little predictable and some of them don't get a laugh. Despite these issues the film is a classic that the famil can enjoy. It feels like a complete experience until a surprise sequal came thirteen years later. Expand

An amazing movie, with stunning visuals, a charming story, and great how it is set down under, but I wish the fish actually had Aussie accents, instead of those annoying American whiny voices. But apart from that, great movie, I give it 9/10.

The whole thing is sort of a "random journey" plot, but it comes together well due to Dory's eccentricity. Nemo's interactions with the tank fish are a little goofy, but there's some stuff that ends up working well, and Gill worked well as a character. The movie just manages to make itself work despite not having the best plot in the world. Expand

Notable first and foremost for its spectacularly colorful underwater setting, which gives the picture one of the most striking visual backdrops ever seen in an animated film, this adventure tale of a neurotic clown fish’s search for his errant son zips along swimmingly with cheeky comic flair.

With John Lasseter overseeing the production as exec producer, “Nemo” marks the full directorial debut of Andrew Stanton, co-director of Lasseter’s “A Bug’s Life” and a writer on all four previous Pixar features. Lee Unkrich is on board as a co-director for the third time, after “Toy Story 2” and “Monsters,” while “Toy 2” production manager Graham Walters makes his producing debut. All this promotion through the ranks provides a reassuring sense of continuity with previous Pixar outings, with the greatest difference in feel this time stemming from the invigorating combination of Yank and Aussie vocal talents in roughly equal numbers.

With his 400-odd brothers and sisters gobbled up along with his mother, Nemo (cheerfully voiced by Alexander Gould) is the only son of Marlin (Albert Brooks), an overprotective dad who would keep his boy on leash if he could. All a-tremble taking Nemo to his first day of school, Marlin goes into full panic when Nemo, accused of being a bad swimmer by his dad, leaves the neighborhood reef to check out a boat floating on the far-off surface. For once, Marlin’s anxiety is justified, as a diver (seen scarily from a tiny fish’s p.o.v.) nets Nemo and takes him aboard.

In frantic pursuit, Marlin is joined by Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), an absentminded but relentlessly upbeat blue tang who provides the swimming bundle of nerves with a much-needed one-fish support system. Early in their journey, they meet a toothsome Great White named Bruce (a most amusing Barry Humphries), a self-professed “good shark” who’s desperately trying to reform himself. “It’s been three weeks since my last fish,” he announces, as pals Anchor (Eric Bana), a hammerhead, and Chum (Bruce Spence), a mako, rather reluctantly try to follow suit. Their basic instincts get the better of them at the first whiff of blood, however, setting in motion a spectacular chase around a sunken submarine and an old minefield.

Film’s early stages are exceptional for their beauty. Computer animators have long discussed the knotty challenge posed by representing water in their medium, and the Pixar team spent years researching and developing solutions to the problems. The work has paid off in glorious images that represent the ocean in varying degrees of darkness and light, stillness and turbulence, clarity and obscurity, and in ways that highlight the myriad colors possessed by underwater life.

Up top, Nemo has found a new home in a Sydney dentist’s office aquarium. His fellow “outies” from the sea are a welcoming bunch dominated by moorish idol Gill (Willem Dafoe), whose heavy scars testify to numerous run-ins with humankind. As affable as all these captives may be, escape is a constant preoccupation, especially since the dentist’s frightful niece is due to collect Nemo within a few days. A known fish-killer, little Darla is evil enough to be introduced by the “Psycho” shriek of strings.

So it becomes a race against time, as Marlin and Dory make their way toward Sydney Harbor in the desperate hope of finding a way to rescue the errant clown fish, and Nemo’s new friends try to arrange for his escape before he gets taken away in a clear plastic sack.

Aiding the cause underwater is sea turtle, Crush (helmer Stanton), a 150-year-old surfer dude with the spirit of a teenager who cruises the East Australian Current for a thrill ride. A particularly striking sequence has Marlin and Dory swept into the mouth of a blue whale (pointedly not anthropomorphized) and stranded for a perilous period of time on its tongue. Animators have invested this episode with a welcome realism — such a predicament is unlikely to ever be captured on live-action film.

Lending a hand, or at least a large mouth, up top is an accident-prone pelican, Nigel (Geoffrey Rush), who schemes with the aquarium dwellers and is no friend to the harbor seagulls, which are portrayed in a very bad light indeed. Perhaps the film’s best sight gag has a bunch of airborne gulls chase Nigel, who, in approaching the mast of a sailboat, suddenly tilts at an angle to squeeze through a narrow opening, stranding the hapless gulls right behind him with their beaks poking through the large sail.

Breathless climax involves a detailed knowledge of the Sydney sewage system, as well as a nifty and visually imposing suspense sequence in which the protag becomes tangled up with hundreds of doomed fish in a huge trawling net.

Plus Thomas Newman’s large score is perked up by some unusual orchestration ideas.

Well, that's certainly proved to be true. After all, Mermaid was the feature-'toon that shoved the Mouse House back on track, while Pixar's latest, a subaquatic epic which casts fish as its heroes, smashed box-office records Stateside to surpass The Lion King as America's biggest-ever animated feature.

Conceived, co-written and directed by A Bug's Life helmer Andrew Stanton, Nemo doesn't take long to reveal why: it's a sparkling treasure trove of snappy comedy, smart characterisation, lush visuals and breakneck action.

This fish's tale follows Marlin (Albert Brooks), a neurotic clownfish who's afraid to let his vulnerable son, Nemo (Alexander Gould), out of his sight lest he be gobbled up by one of the Great Barrier Reef's multitudinous predators. Understandable really, especially considering a harrowing face-slap of an opening that reveals how Marlin's wife and brood were massacred by a barracuda. During a school trip, however, Nemo is netted by a diver and whisked away from his ocean home. The distraught Marlin immediately goes in pursuit, reluctantly enlisting the help of Dory (Ellen DeGeneres), a fish who suffers from short-term memory loss...

It's become somewhat fashionable to praise family entertainment for being `dark'. After all, if it's `dark', then it must be okay for adults to like it. And Finding Nemo has its fair share of `dark' moments (one minute, Bruce, a vegetarian Great White, sobs that he never knew his father; the next, he's going wild at the scent of blood and launching himself at Marlin and Dory), but to describe it as such is missing the point. The reason why Finding Nemo is such a success is because it's layered.

While Marlin and Dory take the episodic adventure route, Nemo is dropped into an aquarium in a dentist's office, where he encounters a collection of barely sane inmates, led by a fish named Gill (Willem Dafoe) who's obsessed with returning to the Big Blue. So Marlin's journey of self-discovery, in which he encounters monsters, turtles, jellyfish and the like, runs parallel to Nemo's coming of age under Gill's (mis)guidance as he takes part in a One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest-flavoured asylum-break.

The moral message is satisfying and schmaltz-free and, as you'd expect from Pixar, the comedy is sharper than a swordfish's nose. Then there's the astounding visualisation of the undersea world, so breathtakingly detailed it could empty a scuba diver's airtank in a matter of seconds. But the loudest praise should go to DeGeneres, who makes the forgetful Dory a laugh-a-minute comedy sidekick, her quips timed to perfection. As Bruce the vegetarian shark's mantra goes, "Fish are our friends." And Finding Nemo certainly makes sure we realise that.

A spectacular comedy-adventure that's never less than totally immersive. Not quite the masterpiece that Toy Story was, but it's the closest Pixar have come since. Go fish.

As we enter the summer of 2003, Walt Disney Pictures reigns supreme as the distributor of the best animated fare. Yet, less than a dozen years after Beauty and the Beast became the first (and thus far only) animated film nominated for a Best Picture Oscar, Disney's in-house animated division has degraded to the point where it's a pale shadow of its former self. However, by acquiring the exclusive North American distribution rights for the films of Japanese master Hayao Miyazaki and by entering into a partnership with Pixar Films, Disney has managed to maintain its position atop the mountain, despite furious challenges from Dreamworks and Fox. Without either of those deals – especially the Pixar one – Disney's once unassailable position might have been lost.

The movies of the Pixar canon – Toy Story and its sequel, A Bug's Life, Monsters Inc. – have all been critical and box office successes. There is no reason to believe things will change with Finding Nemo. Visually, the film is just as jaw-dropping as its predecessors (if not more so). From a narrative standpoint, it's not quite as ambitious as some of the earlier movies, but it has enough juice to keep things moving for 100 minutes. And, as always, the voice casting is perfect. Throw in a moral, and some nice touches of technical accuracy (that fish keepers will appreciate), and the movie represents the best family film to-date of 2003.

Pixar films always contain thematic content, and this one is no different. It touches on the issues of how a parent's natural protective instincts can drive away a child, and how children, no matter how desperately they crave independence, still need their families. None of this is presented in a heavy-handed manner. Instead, it's offered in such a way that even the younger members of the audience will understand what the film is saying without feeling like they're being subjected to a sermon. There's also a message about the importance of diversity and harmony, as a wide variety of animal species band together to help Marlin as he searches for his lost son.

Finding Nemo is every bit as humorous as Monsters Inc., although some of the comedy is more low-key. Having experienced comedians like Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres as the lead voices helps immeasurably. Brooks, as is his forte, makes Marlin sound constantly beleaguered. DeGeneres is a hoot as the tang with no short term memory. Willem Defoe brings an initial whiff of the sinister to his part as Nemo's older, larger tankmate. Other voices include Alison Janney, Austin Pendleton, and Geoffrey Rush as a helpful pelican.

Director Andrew Stanton has opted to animate some of the fish realistically, while using artistic license with others. The clownfish and hippo tang, for example, look almost identical to their real-life counterparts. The sea horses and turtles, however, have some of their rough edges smoothed out, making them cuter and more child-friendly. Overall, Finding Nemo is a treasure trove of visual splendor. From the opening scenes on the coral reef with Marlin taking up residence in his new anemone to the cheesy insides of Nemo's aquarium cage, the film is colorful and amazingly detailed. Every time I view a Pixar film, I am stunned at how much there is to see. Finding Nemo proves that the computer animators can do as much under water as above it.

I wonder if Finding Nemo will fuel an upsurge in interest in salt water aquariums. To be sure, clowns are interesting fish to keep, but only for those with a little patience. Children expecting their pets to exhibit the characteristics of Marlin and Nemo will likely be disappointed. Nevertheless, ecological considerations aside, there's nothing to gripe about where Finding Nemo is concerned. Pixar has done it again, and, in the process, managed to salvage Disney's reputation – at least for a little longer.

Filled with breathtaking animation, great vocal performances from Albert Brooks, Ellen DeGeneres and more, and a good, heart-felt story about father and son relationships.

The color palette for the animation is absolute eye candy, the best I've seen and it's easy to get immersed into the movie's magical world. Plus, Thomas Newman's music score always knows how to pull on my heartstrings.

Albert Brooks, from 'Taxi Driver' (1976), does some amazing vocal work as a concerned father looking for his missing son, Nemo (voiced by Alexander Gould). Ellen DeGeneres is incredibly funny as Dory, a fish who suffers from short term memory loss. She steals every scene she is in.

All in all, 'Finding Nemo' is a classic, I loved it as a child, and I still love it as an adult.

The whole plot was a poorly strung- together series of annoying episodes that were meant to be funny but failed due to general immaturity. There are vegetarian sharks. There are surfer turtles. There are evil humans. You see the problem here? The creators are trying to be funny by putting a "clever twist" on sea creatures but their ideas are so obvious and juvenile all I could do was cringe. Furthermore, the movie is cursed with one of the most - or dare I say it, THE most - annoying character in the entire Disney cannon - the every babbling, annoyingly forgetful idiot fish Dory. (I hope that in the sequel, they fail to find her.) The only redeeming factor is the sweet father-son story, but the frantic, overbusy, episodic plot and excessive melodrama quickly sunk that as well. Despite the rave reviews this one has gotten, I came away extremely disappointed. Expand

So, the movie is about a clown fish named Marlin loosing his love Coral when a starveling barracuda attacks with strength. The killer fish assassins Coral and their children, except one: Nemo. Years later, Marlin's under confidence embarrasses his son during a school field trip, Nemo sneaks away from the reef and is captured by scuba divers who take him to Sydney Harbour, where he's placed in a fish tank along with other type of fishes. Meanwhile, Marlin tries to find his son at all cost and he coincidentally meets Dory, a good-hearted and optimistic regal blue tang with short-term memory loss. Together, they will swim across the ocean in order to find Nemo and that exciting trip will make them encounter new friends.

The story is wonderfully written. I can feel my emotions under my skin while watching the movie. The characters are lovable and funny, the animation is top-notch, the voices are phenomenal (Congratulations to Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres for their outstanding work) and the character development was never forgotten by the people who were involved in this film animation. My favorite film animation is still "Up", but boy... this movie was so damn close.

To summarize: "Finding Nemo" is the reason why I love movies. And that's saying something..

Finding Nemo: 6 out of 10: As a kid's movie Finding Nemo is great. Funny but creepy.)Finding Nemo: 6 out of 10: As a kid's movie Finding Nemo is great. If somehow your munchkins don't already own a copy, have the toys or God forbid seen the ice show (there is something about fish on ice that's a bit creepy. Funny but creepy.) Feel free to buy a copy. You'll get your moneys worth, as the little animatrons will undoubtedly view it endlessly.

But as an adult with no little minds of my own to feed the movie left me wanting. For one thing I've seen it before... about a hundred times before. Parent loses kid, kid loses dog, dog loses family, family loses toy, and so forth. Then the endless journey filled with danger, setbacks and endless comic relief characters begins. Finding Nemo, at least narratively, doesn't bring anything new to the party.

The fact that Pixar themselves are guilty of using this exact same plot in all their movies doesn't help matters. (Pixar's next feature The Incredibles would actually break this trend somewhat and is the most adult friendly toon of theirs to date) The simple fact is after being spoiled by Shrek (or even Ice Age) I like my kids films to be more accommodating to adults.

Not that some things don't work very well indeed (Bruce the 12 step shark and the "mine, mine, mine," seagulls are particularly effective). It's just that the whole film had a cloying sentimentality I usually associate with NBC Olympic coverage or a Hallmark Hall of Fame movie about a Depression Christmas.

That said kids will love it. The animation is spectacular. And as these things go it certainly is very well done. Just not my cup of tea I guess. I prefer my fish with a little more bite… and lemon… and butter.

Granted I hardly remembered watching it as a child, however as I age: I find that it gets better every time I watch it. I can't help but admire its colourful and flowing animation, diverse and memorable characters, gripping story, heartwarming morals, impeccable voice acting and particularly strong and emotional interactions/connections between characters. It set the bar even higher for Pixar after Toy Story and Toy Story 2: and propelled them onward into their illustrious career in making computer animated films; that have since become revolutionary. The H2O theme fits in with the main feature, its tale of a clownfish searching for his son constituting Pixar’s most effective amalgam of comedy, artistry and emotional pull.

Finding Nemo is (In my Opinion) Pixar's greatest contribution into the world of cinema and by far is one of the most entertaining and "adorable" creations.

Um dos clássico da Pixar, certamente um dos melhores da sua era de ouro. Um dos filmes mais lindos que já vi com uma bela história e personagens magníficos.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Sure it has a bit of flaws, but it easily wins as the best animated movie ever. It had humor that added to the greatness. It even had a good script, especially when it switches from one side of the story to the other. The way it was put together is heartwarming and fun. Go see it Expand

"Finding Nemo" is another one of Pixar's masterpieces. It's touching, sweet and has excellent voice performances. The script is emotionally written, the story was thought through deeply and the computer animation is beautiful and dazzling.

Finding Nemo swims with joy.
A very simplistic and extremely easy to follow underwater adventure that kids will undoubtedly love, the movies characters are likeable but nothing spectacular.
