It is a good film, even that after the middle the quality gets down, it doesn't deserve your bad opinions!!! Besides it's better then the two first movies.

It may not be for everyone with it's slow pace and few action scenes but this is sacrificed to allow more time for you to get to know the characters which are played by a great cast. The movie has a relatively short running time so the slow pace isn't as harmful as it could have been. Overall this is movie is a breath of fresh air and it shows getting super powers not as this amazing thing that everyone wishes for but as a horrible accident that makes you feel sorry for these characters. Good times, FF needed a new look, very reminiscent of the Ultimate FF by Millar. Enjoyed Doom as well. Love the Sci-Fi explorer approach. The new actors on board were great

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. "Dull and downbeat" and "woefully misguided attempt" are not the words to describe this film, at least to me. There are cons, though, because this and everything else that exists in the universe, is flawed. Doom is handled poorly and looks dumb, the film skips a year ahead when it's unnecessary, and the ending is no doubt rushed, nonsensical, and a colossal disappointment. To make up for these cons, though, I really enjoyed the performances and characters, which somewhat overshadowed the flaws with this film...except the ending.

The ending was ABSOLUTELY ridiculous! Rushed and predictable. Doom was the worst aspect of the film, no doubt. Toby Kebbell did a swell job on his acting part, but the writers did not know what the heck they were doing with him. The fight between him and the Fantastic Four must've been at least five minutes tops! Usually, the final conflict between the protagonist(s) and antagonist(s) lasts longer than at least ten minutes, in previous experiences. The best part of the ending was seeing the terrible villain being killed because I could finally be relieved (partially) of the torture I experienced watching this bland and poorly handled villain for the previous thirty minutes or so.

Though to try to forget about the ending, the first ten to fifteen minutes were great, with young Reed and young Ben beginning their friendship. The child actors were great, with a few minor slip-ups from Reed's child actor, but other than that small nitpick, those were easily one of the best segments of the entire film.

The most memorable performances came from Miles Teller (Reed Richards), Kate Mara (Susan Storm), and Reg E. Cathey (Dr. Franklin Storm). Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm) and Jamie Bell (Ben Grimm) were fantastic as well, but the previous three stood out to me more. The last thing I'll say before I conclude is that I wished that, besides getting a much better ending, they would've expanded on the arc of Susan's adoption. That was really intriguing and I hope that in the sequel (if they still decide to make it) that they'll expand upon it more.

There are some seriously epic moments, some that will terrify you and some that will just let you down. Really liked it, didn't LOVE it, but you won't feel like your money is wasted. The cast surprised me and their chemistry is great. The cast is chosen very well despite 'that' controversy and they mesh perfectly. It's downfall is its somewhat rushed editing (particularly in the third act). I think it's worth more than what people are saying it is. This is coming from a huge superhero movie buff. 8/10 (rounded up from 7.5) Expand

Probably what a lot of viewers didn't like is the fact the characters spend a considerable amount of time talking to each other rather than beating each other up for a half hour at a time. It's a classic origins story. It's not Casablanca and it's not Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf and it's not Guess Who's Coming To Dinner or In the Heat of the Night. It's a superhero flick. It has a beginning, a middle, and an end. The characters are likeable. And for once I found myself watching an entertaining movie instead of checking my watch every fifteen minutes like I do when trying to tolerate yet another typical action-adventure spectacular -- which have become yet another name for boredom. Let's get this out the way: A LOT of the negative comments on this films are from people with an agenda. Many have wanted this film to fail since day one and had zero intent on giving it a shot.

I'm glad I did. While I admit there's some rushed/rough stuff towards the end I thoroughly enjoyed FANTASTIC FOUR. Yeah, I said it. I didn't go into this wanting/expecting a superhero movie. I went in wanting a sci-fi film and that's what I got. Sure, the last 25 minutes could have been better but that doesn't outshine the great start of the film for me. Plus, Doom's hallway scene is one of the most violent and dare I say bad-ass scenes in a comic book film.

It is the best FANTASTIC FOUR film to date but if you're looking for tights and superheroics...this one won't be for you. But if you're into films like THE FLY, SCANNERS and CHRONICLE...I'd say give it a shot. It's a good start and here's to hoping the sequel moves forward.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all: I really liked the movie (exept of the rushed and frankly speaking terrible end)
The end is very generic, poorly written and was obviously not part of the original movie. This part feels a bit like Frankensteins experiment going wrong. An ugly head attached to a great body.
I want to concentrate on all the positive aspects of the movie.
The kid versions of Reed and Ben did a great job, teir friendship made sense and you lear A LOT about their family backgrounds and their personalitys when you pay attention to details. The first part of the movie reminded me of movies like Stand By Me, focussed on their friendship and them being outsiders. You learn that even years later nothing has changed, they (especially Reed) are still misunderstood and laught at. Its a perfect lead up to Reeds wish to be part of a "family" that undersatnds him. Dr Franklin, who discovers him takes the place of a father figure. And it seems that Sue (his adopted daughter) had a similar fate. It seems like Dr Franklin adopted her BECAUSE she was gifted. Her brother Johnny is taleted as well as a mechanic, but obviously not as smart as Sue. The family seems to be realiticly dysfunctional. The father "prefers" the adopted daughter to his own son. Johnny has a craving for being respected for having a purpose in life. These are just a couple of examples of how the characters are built to explain their behaviour later on. Victor van Doom was portrait as a difficult but likable person, who (for very real reasons) doesnt trust the government, doesn't really like humanity, because we are destroying our planet. He is not a 2 dimentional villain. In the middle of the movie the editing started to be a bit sloppy, but the movie was still great up to the point where they go back to Planet Zero ad find Doom. From this point on, everything feels rushed and badly edited even badly performed. But lets try to find the positive aspects in the last part of the movie:
Doom: even though I didn't LOVE the look of Doom, I thought it looked exactly as if somebody had an accident. He looked manecing, powerful and insane. Being abandoned on a planet, being genetically altered by the planet clearly had an effect on his personality and radicalized his paranoia and hate. He could have been a great antagonist, if they would have giving him more screentime and well-written dialogue. His powers ware AMAZING and terrifying. He could have been the scariest and most impressive villain ever! The scene where he starts to kill people is shocking and shows you, how dangerous he really is.
The Fantastic Four: there are moments where they work togather as a team and it works. Unfortunatelly they act completely out of character. Instead of acting as the intelligent people they are, they act like typical superheroes.
The evil plan: Dooms evil plan actually make sense and there was a build-up to what could happen in the movie, unfortunatelly it happened all too sudden and without tention build up.

Was the movie good? the first part was very good, thanks to the actors and a good script, the last part was terrible. I still enjoyed the movie and I wish there was a directors cut.
Would i recomment the movie? Yes, absolutely, but I would always warn people that the ending sucks.

I feel sorry for Josh Trank and all the people that put a lot of love and energy into making tis movie. I don't think the terrible review the movie gets are actualy justified and I am shockt at how black and white some critics paint this movie that has two very differen parts.

Giving theSuperhero films have been doing a lot of incredible things lately, especially the ones based on Marvel comics. With so many characters to be brought to the big screen it doesn't seem likely for the trend to stop anytime soon. Giving the Fantastic Four another shot was a good idea. However this movie wasn't the way to do it.

It's rushed and incomplete. Fragments of the story are missing, the villain has little motive, and the characters never really come together in any way that actually makes their team believable and satisfying. I applaud the attempts at change, but the execution is severely lacking. All that being said I still enjoyed the movie. It's definitely not the Fantastic Four movie I wanted, but I still found it to be an entertaining, yet highly flawed, sci-fi flick.

There is a certain appeal to watching these talented actors come together on their project. However, once the powers come into play things go off the rails. It's a decent sci-fi flick, but a disappointing superhero movie.

The charming cast is given some cheesy lines and their powers are brought to life with some surprisingly dated special effects. It kind of reminded me of an old-school, alien invasion flick in ways both good and bad.

There's a lack of emotion and certain plot-lines, such as the broken friendship between Reed and Grimm, never see any sort of resolution. It's evident that some good ideas were behind this project, but ultimately something went wrong and the majority of the film was pieced together in ways that leave it all unfinished.

Then there's Doom himself. The big baddy of the film, and one of the most significant super villains in all of comics, just sort of appears near the end of the film with some bogus plot and zero real reason for actually doing it. Part of why superhero films have been so successful recently is because of villains with real motivations and at least some attempts at being fleshed out. Those elements are strangely missing here. It feels like Doom was just included because "oh yeah, this is a superhero movie. It kind of needs one of those."

You can tell there are a lot of good ideas here and lots of areas that maybe the writer(s)/director wanted to expand upon, but ultimately either didn't get to or just didn't care enough to actually try. The end results feel lazy and thrown together. Yet, despite is disjointed execution and fragmented nature, I still found myself enjoying it.

Yes, it's a highly flawed bit of filmmaking. However it's got a great vibe, a likable cast, and a certain amount of likability to keep it entertaining despite all of the totally obvious flaws. I honestly think had it not had the Fantastic Four's name attached to it then maybe we all could have been a bit more forgiving. To be honest it just doesn't do these characters or their stories justice. For some reason though I still like it. Not because it's a good superhero film, but because it's a good bit of sci-fi nonsense that really could have been great had more effort been put into it.

It's a flawed, yet strangely fun movie. One that doesn't do much for the heroes it tries to mimic, but does enough good despite itself to still be worth a watch so long as you are willing to put with a large list of flaws. For some reason I was apparently ready to. Somehow it was able to give me reason to even with the odds stacked against it. Because of that I give it a 7.7/10. I don't know how or even really why at all, but I enjoyed it. I would still like them to go back to the drawing board for these heroes in the future though. The Fantastic Four deserve better.

Too slow and dramatised superhero flick, but acceptable.

I can't say I liked the previous films and not this one. In fact, I kind of enjoyed watching this reboot. It was much better than what I have heard about it. At least it did not sound like a loud and lousy like any modern sci-fi flicks, chasing bad guys, bombing cities and downing buildings. But as a superhero and sci-fi film, it had its moment, only at the end.

Obviously the film was too slow and dramatisation was a backslash keeping the youngsters (audience) in mind. I actually expected hefty stunt sequences. Without actions, a superhero movie is like a limbless spider and toothless shark. If the web and tooth are the superpowers, then they must handle it quite smartly. So that is where this film failed to be a clever. This film had 4 superheroes and until the climax they were impotent. Which means the only superhero movie in the recent time that meant for older people. Precisely to say, if you are a 30+, you might enjoy it as I did. I know I can't talk for you and what kind of movies you like, but I know todays youngsters who refuse dramas and accept action-adventures.

I agree it did not deliver as it should have been as a theatrical feature where surround speakers are ready to give us a breathtaking sound mix. I felt it some kind of a television episode. Because that is how the modern television series are presented. Personally, I would like to say that don't mind my words and the review, because I usually enjoy all the films I watch. So this one was average to me, but definitely not a bad and I won't slam it. Though I recommend it for old people who does not like modern high-octane stunts.

I have no existing attachment or affection for the comics or the characters as originally conceived therefore this was just another sci-fi film for me and I had a good time watching it.

It actually reminded me, in tone, appearance and story resolution, of Chronicle which is a movie I love. It's not a "Big Summer Movie" but it is great little science fiction film.

I will start by saying this. The movie has no place below its current Critical status under 50% On Metacritic. It has been brutalized by the fact that it stands on its own. It does not lend itself to the Marvel Cinematic Universe and as it stands right now, it will never get the chance.
At least Sony have handed over most of a certain ‘web crawling menace’ into Marvels hands. But right now we have another rendition of a comic book franchise being re made for a new generation. In the same generation as the first two movies were made!! It really makes no sense why. If it is not joining the larger universe it must be bad right?
Wrong.
This is by no means, an amazing movie or even a great one. But it deserves to be seen and it deserves to do well. It is another Origin story. You may yawn at the fact we have seen them all before. But believe me when I tell you, there is no yawning when this movie starts to put its feet on the ground and move towards, what we all know will eventuate. A bunch of good guys, stop a bad guy and or corporation and happy endings all around. Is that so hard to enjoy?
All the right cast are here and they all make what seems a bit far fetched, so smooth and likeable. The feeling that, if they are ok with it, then hell, so am I.
Mister Fantastic (Miles Teller - Whiplash), Susan Storm (Kate Mara - The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo), The Human Torch (Michael B Jordan – Fruitvale Station & Chronicle), Ben Grimm/The Thing (Jamie Bell – King Kong & Tin Tin) & last but not least Victor Von Doom played by Toby Kebbell the wonderful actor that portrayed the Ape ‘Koba” in Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes.

All of these eventually join forces, to become unlikely allies as the first ever Inter-dimensional Travel Consultants. Until they decide it’s ok to take the trip themselves. This is when things start to go terribly wrong, especially for old Victor Von Doom…being left behind and left to rot in a world we all know so little about and will probably never even see any answers to sadly.
The powers and problems they bring back are then far too focused on the Government being the all-powerful evil corporation that it is. Without giving too much away, let’s just say, they are not set free when they return and are used for the sole purpose of certain organisations and another trip back… because the first time went so well!

The music is composed by Philip Glass (The Hours) and sadly there wasn’t one thing I could take away from this composition apart from the awesome music they used on the Official Trailer. It brings nothing to the movie and that is not how it should be for a super hero flick.

The entire film does feel like a boxed in world with nothing existing outside its walls till the very end when they need something to threaten. Two sets built solely around the creation of our heroes in a lab. Then onto an alternate dimension and then back to a lab again.

This for me was the most disappointing concept for a film about super heroes growing into their own. It felt like they lost a budget and had to constrain it to the size of two football fields. Any bigger than that and the team gets tanked and they use another director.

It feels boxed in yes, but at the same time it feels fresh. A time in cinema when it all goes back to its roots and is just a fun movie to watch. I enjoyed each and every one of these characters and enjoyed watching them grow into The Fantastic Four we know they can be. Sadly it is taken down a generic path. That actually abruptly ends all too quickly and no threat is ever really felt. Leaving our heroes not quite heroes until the sequel it hopefully deserves.

The Special effects were above par. Everything from Jamie Bells The Thing ... to one amazingly horrific Corridor Sequence with a certain someone. The only thing i found distracting the whole movie (other than the lack of a decent soundtrack) was Miles Tellers facial hair. Just staring at it made me wonder, is this real? Is it glued on?

As it stands however with all this bad wrap and not giving this basic, back to form, comic book movie a real shot, we may never see them again and quite frankly that is upsetting.

The second problem is that there is just too much dialogue and not enough things blowing up (or maybe it seems like there's too much dialogue because we're so tired of origin plots). Anyways, other than those two flaws, the movie actually is not bad. It has a "darker" more X-Men like feel to it. The heroes were portrayed well be the actors. The CGI was actually very impressive. Human Torch, The Thing, and Dr. Doom looked amazing, it terms of CGI. Overall, I give Fantastic Four a 7. Why? Because Iron Man got a 7, and this movie is by no means any worse than Iron Man. Expand

One of the best things is that the climax is really short. You heard me. A short climax. In a superhero movie. A dream come true. The facial expressions on The Thing were really good and Dr. Doom was a badass villain. Don't watch it if you worship the comics as your God. Okay so here's like a genuine honest review of the film. It's not as bad as everyone is making out to be for a start! But it does have it's problems.

Overview: The first half of the movie was actually done rather well and to a quality I was happy with. After the time jump to a year later the movie falls apart - Fast!!! It seems like the put a lot of effort into the start and then after they'd had a good build up that maybe lasted longer than expected they realised they had to actually finish the film. The back half just feels incredibly rushed and sloppy. It seems like they just the first thing that came to mind was what they went with because they hadn't planned how to finish it and so it's incredibly sloppy.

In Depth Look:
For the first half of the movie it does a really good job of setting up the characters, Ben and Reed are developed alongside each other and as the characters the movie spends the most time with they actually seem believable and likeable, well written AT THE TIME!

We're quickly introduced to Johnny and Sue and they're just portrayed as the typical know it all pioneering young scientist (Sue) and the typical rebellious teen who is squandering his potential (Johnny) Okay these characters needed a lot more work but fine... Reed and Ben have been done really well so I'll tolerate it. I even though they did a good portrayal of Victor! (NOT! Dr Doom, he was an absolute shambles)

So for this first half it's set up acceptable and I am totally on board with the film, they acquire their powers in a very dramatic way and it's pretty fun to watch, a little over the top but it's a super hero movie, what do you expect?

But I'm aware time is running short at this point. We're like 2/3rds through the run time and they still need to show how the team adapt to their new powers and have Victor come back as Doom... How are they going to fit all that in to what's left of this movie!

Well! First of all! Who needs to see the interesting struggles these guys face developing their new powers when we can just cut to a year later when they've got it all under control! Oh but Reed ditched them because they've been in captivity so we have to have Ben go bring him back. Incredibly sloppy and rushed but still I'm looking at the clock like "They still don't have time to really have Doom do much, this has already been ridiculously fast, I'm worried that this movie is just going to fall apart towards the end..."

And of course it does! But more spectacularly than I could possibly imagine. Doom is back on earth less than two minutes before he's blowing up people's heads with his mind (I was unaware Dr Doom was capable of such things) He's just walking through halls blowing up everyone's brains then decides to create a black hole that will consume the earth, all because he doesn't want them to touch his planet... Okay...? I was trying to give this ludicrous plot swing some defence and was thinking it least it's not "You betrayed me and left me here, I'm going to kill you all" Because that would have been predictable but honestly that would have been ALOT! better. It's typical because it works. Doom was a mess, the ending was a mess and it was such a shame because I really! enjoyed the first half... To just leave it in this pile of mess when they had done so well ugh...

Well maybe they're get it right for the sequel!? *Cough* They're likely not getting one *cough* *cough*

We get to see how everything began when Reed and Ben were kids and a few years later they meet with Storm and his daughter, Sue. After that, we all know what comes: Victor, the accident and special powers. The script might have failed in a few moments, this is true. How the guys managed to use the teleporter secretly is a bit weird, since there should have been security next to the object. When Doom gets stuck in another dimension, the script forgets about him and focus on Fantastic Four, instead of showing us a little bit about him and his struggles. At last, the final battle, in which the combat between heroes and Dr. Doom is rushed. On the other hand, nothing that makes FF a bad movie. It's highly entertaining, it has great action sequences, good dialogues and the cast is awesome. Missed an end credits scene but I'm excited for the sequel somehow. Much better than the film released in 2005. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Overall the Fantastic 4 was fine. There was potential for it to be a 7 or an 8, but there a few things that hurt the movie. There were a few scenes that felt way too short and oddly cut. One of those scenes was when Reed was found by the military and they sent Thing to get him. I wish there was an actual fight scene between Reed and Thing. That would've made that scene so much better. Instead it abruptly ended with Reed getting knocked out.

Another thing that bothered me was the CG. There were times where it looked like a low budget science fiction movie. It's almost like they got lazy and didn't care.

I was really looking forward to seeing Dr. Doom, but I thought he looked stupid. There was definitely an improvement from the last two Fantastic 4 movies. He was easily the coolest part of the movie though. The best part was when Doom escaped and he was blowing people's heads up.

With a few tweaks this movie would've been great, but as it is it's getting a 6 out 0f 10 from me. Hopefully they don't make the same mistakes in the sequel if they are even still planning to make it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Directed by Josh Trank, 'Fantastic Four' is a contemporary re-imagining
of Marvel's superhero team. It centers on four young outsiders who
travel to an alternate and dangerous universe, which alters their
physical form in shocking ways. Their lives irrevocably upended, the
team must learn to harness their daunting new abilities and work
together to save Earth from a former friend turned enemy.

As i write this review, the Rotten Tomatoes score is showing 11% after
52 reviews. Wow, must be a real stinker, right? Wrong. The summary next
to the score says "a woefully misguided attempt to translate a classic
comic series without the humor, joy, or colorful thrills that made it
great." Made what great? The comic that is now canceled due to poor
sales or the previous two films that everyone loves hating on? The same
mouth breathers don't want to admit that if those films were part of
the MCU, they'd praise the **** out of them. Instead they cry man child
tears for Fox to hand the rights back to their beloved Marvel Studios.

For the past 6 months, the ill will towards this new production reached epic
levels, even before the first trailer. The closet racist millennial hipsters were
out in force on the internet, all because Johnny Storm was to be played by
a black man. And apparently the big scoop that Doctor Doom would be
renamed Victor Domashaev, a hacker with the username DOOM. This rumor
refused to die, but completely shot down in the first 20 minutes of the film.
He IS from Latveria, his name IS Victor Von Doom, he IS a scientist. Now,
please. Shut. The. **** Up.

Did i enjoy the film myself. Yes. 'Chronicle' director Josh Trank
brings intelligence and realism, which some comic film fans still can't
appreciate. The dark tone and light humour were balanced throughout,
unlike the mess that can be Marvel's cinematic universe. With an almost
50s sci-fi vibe, there's a refreshing approach here that is in contrast
to the safe, by the numbers direction of recent Marvel efforts.

The character development was spot on. Well written with sympathy,
empathy and chemistry. The confident but nerdy Reed (Miles Teller) was
believable as a child prodigy now realizing his dream. Johnny (Michael
B. Jordan) and his adopted sister Sue (Kate Mara) share a strained
relationship but respect each other. The Thing's (Jamie Bell) journey
from bullied kid to becoming a horrific weapon of war by the military
is a sympathetic one. And Victor (Toby Kebbell) is a moody anti hero at
first, but turns into an intense, brain exploding, scary ass villain.

Now there is a 'one year later' point in the film after great build up
that critics are going nuts about. Fair enough but it didn't bother me
much. The sudden comic action in the final act felt rushed and dumbed
down, with sloppy CGI thrown in too. A disappointing end to a promising
start, but there's too much originality that creates a solid base for
the future.

We'll need to wait and see if Fox continue with the sequel and/or plans
to bring it into the X-Men universe. For now, don't believe the hate.

Admittedly, I skipped it at the theater because I let the media convince me that there's no possible way it could be a good movie. This is an excellent FF origin story, and over all a much better film the the two previous attempts. Trank, Slater & Kinberg have created a very modern story here that brings four victims of circumstance together with a common goal, even while at odds with one another. The acting & visuals are top-notch. My only concern with the story is the mishandling of Doctor Doom. It's almost as if they used the 2005 film as the basis for Victor instead of diving into the source material. Even with that, though, there is much much worse out there (see BvS). Side Note: I was really hoping that the naming conversation at the end would turn into the Norm Maconald bit. Expand

But honestly i don't think this Fantastic Four it's that terrible i mean it's bad and disappointed for sure but worst movie of 2015 ? i don't think so.

The thing that i think most people going to hate this movie for is the lack of hollywood blockbuster movie moment this is the movie that it's just so generic predictable with pretty bad action scene and when you combine with the fact that the main characters in the movie is actually work like a team like a "Fantastic Four" less than 5 minutes you probably be pretty angry especially comic fans and you should be.

Not counting the other fact that Dr.Doom in this movie is just trash like really really bad , he's a type of terrible bad guy in superhero movie which delivers nothing but boredom to the audience.

BUT i think the others four characters is fine like Reed , Benn , Sue and Johnny Storm they're watchable especially Reed play by Miles Teller he's pretty good in this movie too and all four characters relationship and conflict is just so interesting .

Overall Fantastic Four 2015 is a epic disappointment i can't deny that it's just so mediocre and someway it's pretty bad like the production behind it's just terrible which is really surprising since this is like 20 Century Fox blockbuster movie it's should not have like terrible CG or terrible action scene but still it's watchable it's not like completely garbage it's a movie that i think you should watch for yourself if you a fan of the Fantastic Four and see if you like it , love it , hated it it's better than believing others when you don't even watch it by yourself .

The not so Fantastic Four is defently an origin story that takes well too long to tell, and that forgets important plot details and that’s well too short to be a superhero-flick and that never really pays off.

The first act is definitely the greater aspect, with its interesting plot and somewhat exciting events. But there are also some inlogical things, especially when it comes to the editing. That lack of greatness really escalated later in the second and third act. The characters are always the major detail of every movie that needs to be well written and presented, but I'm wondering if the writers were drunk or just stupid while they were writing it, because it's just so badly done. It took the half part of the movie just to get the characters going, so it took well too long to introduce them. The second thing is that we never got to see how our heroes developed and got control over their powers. The major reason is that the editing is so terrible. They skipped everything from how they got to learn to control their powers to how their friendships and chemistry developed! They therefor missed important plot and character details. That's a serious mistake for one that just were a part of the development of the X-Men franchise, well good luck on getting back there!

That's just one small aspect with all the big mistakes in this reboot, and another one is definitely the many and serious plot-holes throughout the whole movie. The storytelling is also very messy and just weird from time to time. But the real mistake is the lack of a greater third act. We didn't get to see the wrath of the villain until like 20 minutes before the movie ended...what the hell?! Another thing is that Dr Doom is extremely vaguely presented and there are very little relatable aspects with him. He's ugly too, and you can't really feel that understanding of him, why he's the villan. The only great thing about him is that he's defently scary. So yeah, it's not a flawless movie, not by a long shot.

But it doesn't end there; The crappy Fantastic Four also got some predictable moments, and dialogs here and there, and the movie is extremely short. The major BAD thing is that there are so much plot and character story missing, but why is the movie so short then? There are even shots in the trailers that looked promising, and some of them wasn't in the movie! Im stunned by how this movie even became to be this bad. Even the climax is just too short and well too rushed for its own good. Sure it got some cool moments, but ohh myy it tries to be serious, but it totally fails due to terrible editing and storytelling; not to mention some of the vague CGI and forced humor.

It's understandable why many out there hates it; it’s full of enormous flaws. One of the most flaw-filled movie I’ve ever seen with its lack of plot and character details, character development, massive amount of plot-holes, messy editing, vague and non-relatable villain and of course the forced humor, rushed third act and the dry chemistry between the characters after they got their not so fantastic powers. But it got some bright aspects too; like great actors, good soundtrack and somewhat okay dialogs, but that's sometimes forced to the audience (fact-based dialogs).

Sure it got some okay aspects and you can still watch it, but the flaws are just so big and impossible to hide from. It's indeed a bad movie with it's terrible editing and lack of a Marvel-entertainment that steals the show nowadays. Give the rights back to Marvel or try again Fox!

The reboot that failed.

What could 've been a fresh new start for the franchise was sadly wasted to say the least. Unlike most Marvel films, this one took itself way too seriously, completely defeating the purpose and fun of the film. And when it wasn't taking itself too seriously, it was just plain corny! Even the acting was pitiful. I especially expected much more from Miles Teller, especially after completely wowing me with last year's Whiplash, but even he gave a cheesy and ridiculous performance along with the rest of the cast. And to make things even worse, almost the whole film is spent setting up the final events and fight, so no real action takes place until the final twenty minutes or so! Overall, definitely a waste of great talent and potential! Expand

The dialogue loses all its flair, the action feels disjointed, and even the special effects seem to get worse with every passing moment. It really is a bizarre experience. Expand

This review is paraphrased from the review I wrote on my blog.

It’s not very often Marvel makes a movie that feels like a swing and a miss. (I know it is 20th Century Fox) This latest installment is not exactly a whiff. It’s more of a really deep fly to right just outside the foul pole… close but no cigar my friends. Movie studios tend to make these in threes so, they do have a few more pitches to look at. OK, enough baseball analogies.

This film felt like they were going through the motions. Making another super hero movie, yada, yada, yada. The whole thing was a bit uninspired. The Executive Producer was Stan the Man himself, but yet the back story was pretty much ripped asunder from the comic’s origin. Johnny and Sue were not adopted siblings in any version of the Four. They kind of merged Ultimate Fantastic Four and the Original 1960s version. Many liberties with the story arc were taken and since Stan Lee served at the top of the production, I guess it’s supposed to be all good.

One good rule of thumb for these types of movies is this: If you are going to chop up the story and piss off the fan-boys, you better make a great movie! JJ Abrams irritated the crap out of the “Trekkies”, but damn that 2009 movie was solid. So it kind of made up for the liberties taken with the story. This was no JJ’s Star Trek, however.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not screaming for movie ticket refund. This was a decent flick, it just fell well short of the expectation I have when Marvel is involved in a movie. In fairness, this was a 20th Century Fox movie since they own the rights. But again Stan Lee was Executive Producer. Marvel’s name and trademark opening animation still run at the start of the movie. You know, the guys that gave us Iron Man, The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy. 20th Century also did two great Fantastic Four movies in the 2000’s and several X-Men movies with some solid success. Now a studio wielding a resume like that conjures up some heavy expectations. This movie is kind of the Marvel equivalent to Ryan Leaf in the NFL. Yeah, I said it. Ryan Leaf was a great quarterback, he just couldn’t elevate that amazing college game to the pro-level. This movie had all the stuff it needed to succeed, there just wasn’t proper execution. Wow, I am really on a sports analogy fetish today ;)

Comic origins aside, this still could have been a much better film. The movie lacked the comic relief that has become such a big part of the success of the Marvel Universe films. The 2005 Fantastic Four movie had all that Marvel magic and frankly it just crushes this latest effort in every measurable way. That ’05 film remains firmly placed in the top 10 of my Super Hero Movie List. You might tire your middle finger working the mouse’s scroll wheel to find this film on the list. This one really didn’t have anything stand out. It was just kind of “meh”.

This movie didn’t even have the obligatory Stan Lee Cameo. Sure at one point there was Johnny calling off-screen to an unseen guy named “Stan”. Really? Come on. Many may say that since 20th Century Fox owns the movie rights to Fantastic Four, they don’t need to follow Marvel’s tendency to have Stan appear in cameos. But hey Marvel makes huge money on these things, so a little emulation could bring some extra box office cash. Oh and in case you forgot, one of Stan’s biggest cameos came in the 2005 Fantastic Four as the chatty mailman.

There were some “Easter eggs” and it pays homage to the comic stories in several scenes. Even the very last scene was practically taken right off the last page of the first Fantastic Four Comic in 1962.

Another notable miss is the also obligatory after credits bonus scene. Yes, that’s right, I rode the credits to bitter end and no such scene appeared. I do know that a guy named Edward Poveta was the Payroll Accountant for the production, and that’s good to know ;)

On a positive note: Reg E. Cathey plays Dr. Franklin Storm. The fan-boy base was a bit tweaked as he is part of the whole Johnny and Sue aren’t related issue. This guy however, is the bright light on the stage. He is the only actor I felt a connection to in this production. He doesn’t carry the whole film per se, he just brings a some much-needed gravitas to an otherwise bland cast. This movie’s biggest failing is probably the dialog. It may be the worst in Marvel silver-screen history. This movie won’t put you to sleep and won’t smell like a fart in an elevator, but if you are a Marvel fan you will not leave the theater with that Marvel movie buzz you may be accustomed to.

Now that Marvel is cranking out blockbusters and hauling in tanker-loads of box office cash, perhaps they need to buy the rights back to Spiderman, X-Men and Fantastic Four from Sony-Columbia and 20th Century Fox.

Then Michael B. Jordan (Johnny Storm) responded to no one liking the casting by saying "deal with it, you'll rush to see it anyway." Which is sort of an arrogant thing to say to people you want to see it.
Then you had Kate Mara (Susan Storm) say that the director told her reading one Fantastic Four comic wasn't even necessary....more bad buzz. Also no one bothered to squash the rumor that Doom (Toby Kebbell) is now an angry blogger.
I can say that Kebbell is not playing an angry blogger and in fact does a good job playing Victor Domashev who is a....scientist. Who's not too happy to be working with Reed Richards (Miles Gellar) on a teleportation device. He only agreed to work on the project due to Susan. Victor gets jealous that Reed and Susan start flirting while working. Which is irrelevant and goes nowhere.
Long story short; Reed gets the machine working. The military don't want Reed, Johnny and Victor to be the first to teleport to an alternate universe which especially pisses off Victor. A machine important to the military apparently is unguarded...by the military...so it's joyride time! Reed brings his buddy Ben Grimm (Jamie Bell) along.
Things go wrong; Victor is presumed dead but we all know who he becomes. Everyone gets powers and Sue is hit with energy when everyone returns which gives her powers too. The military considers them all property and a weapon now when Reed just wants to find a cure.
I was into the movie more than I expected. It kept my attention throughout and I disagree with critics who called it joyless with no humor. Since there is some humor and entertaining moments. It's just that the movie is pretty rushed in the second act and bam it's over before you know it just when we get some action.
While I did make fun that Jamie Bell who played a male ballerina in Billy Elliot is now the Thing; he actually works better than anyone else. Miles Tellar and Kate Mara do fine work but mostly better work as brainiacs than as superheroes.
Michael B. Jordan does have the cockiness of Johnny Storm but I never believed that he had any sort of sibling relationship with Susan. Either way they have no chemistry. And he was pretty dull as Johnny.
If I believed anything in the film character wise it is at least that Reed feels bad about Ben becoming a giant rock creature. Kebbell's Doom is sort of bad ass but it's silly how he talks. You see a mouth but it never moves. So how is he talking exactly ?
I did at least get why Doom wants to destroy Earth more than critics did. He's gone mad from being left in the alternate universe for a year and thinks that is his true and superior home now. Either way though I do think the film does get bad and B-Movie like during the battle with Doom. While it's too short to even really enjoy.
Too short goes for the movie as well. The film works better as a Stargate like film in the beginning. But when it's suddenly a superhero film; it's not as good. The film kept my attention but in the end I still can't say it's the Fantastic Four I have been waiting for.
Fox should have rebooted the Fantastic Four with the intention to make a superior film. At least that's why I think reboots should exist. Instead they apparently only made it so Marvel wouldn't get the rights back. Then they rushed it in and out of production just to make money for a summer release. Kind of like what they did with X-Men 3. With Josh Trank blaming Fox that he couldn't make the great movie he intended to make.
If Fox doesn't care if their movies aren't as good as they could be with enough time to make them good; then yes Marvel does deserve the rights back. Still; I don't think the Fantastic Four is as bad as they say. But you should probably just wait for DVD. As for moving ahead with a sequel no one wants; go home Fox...you're drunk.

The movie can be divided into two parts: a lousy 1st half and a decent 2nd half. The movie takes too long in establishing the main characters. It could've done away with the whole "friends from childhood" bit; it just should've started with them in their early 20's graduating from college or something like that. On the plus side, I really like how the villain, Dr Doom, is created but unfortunately he doesn't have much screen time. If the movie had spent more time on the Fantastic Four v Dr Doom and less time on the setup, we could've had a good if not "fantastic" movie. Expand

It's only a slightest better (keep reading why), but NOT worse than the utter attempt to show flash Jessica Alba's curves or Chris Evan's pectorals. This is rather your typical teenage + superpowers = outsider recipe. So they're a group of wonderkids working on some NASA project, one of them is a douche, so you know he's going to be the bad guy. At least you know where he's coming from and what interest he will have to fight the team. After some experiment goes haywire and they get their powers is a somewhat still appropriate way (at least we know why they did what they did and how each of them became what they became). Then some government routine ensues (both films compare here, pretty much), and we end up with the big fight. Notice that the way the ending is showcased, you don't get the impression that they're showing you a suave, a fashion model, a nerd and a wrestling champion getting together because shut up. Rather they're still willing to be the team they were, only their vocation now changes.
So in all I'm surprised to see people say this one sucked more than the one from 10 years ago. It seriously didn't. Were the 2005 garbage never produced, it would've probably ended up worse. But at least (the keyword here) they tried. At least.

It is not rooted in the 60s/70s F4 world. As I understand it, it is based on a newer reboot of the comic franchise. It follows the trend established by the Dark Knight films: it is dark and brooding. And Miles Teller, while a fine actor, really exudes "jerk". which works in many roles, but not as Mr. Fantastic. A bizarre casting choice that probably dooms this new franchise. It is just so hard to like him. Otherwise, this is a typical superhero origins first film: the characters' backstories, how they acquired their powers, the conflict that causes them to need to use their powers for good, the favorable resolution of that conflict, and their bright future as superheroes. Other than the miscast Teller, the rest of the group is unremarkable. The effects are very good,. The main villain gets his own backstory, while the secondary villain, the bad corporate guy, is cliche. A combination of bad casting and bad writing really prevented this film from becoming what it could have been. Expand

Aside from Reed you get very little from the other characters, Especially with Johnny Storm. About half way through the movie the plot simply fails to move forward and doesn't advance at all. There is pretty much no action what so ever until the last 10 minutes of the movie. The end sequence, where Doom comes back and starts a destructive path, starts and finishes in the last 15 minutes of the movie. It's done as quickly as it starts. It was laughably anti-climactic.

What should have been a slightly above average movie is crippled with one of the worst scripts for a comic book movie since Daredevil. It was so poorly executed in the last half of the movie that it completely ruins what was built up in the first. Don't even bother with this one.

Going in I was excited, coming out I was saddened. The unfortunate thing is the film's not so bad it's unwatchable, it's just a flat third act drags the entire film down. The origin story usually encompasses some build up, that is a given but the entire film contains 2 action sequences, and 1 of them is about 3 minutes, while the other is anti-climactic. The pacing is thrown off because instead of progressing the pacing the film stops and slows down, while the special effects crew does as well. The film may have gotten away with this a little more but the last 45 minutes are dull, because the actors are suffering from Star Wars syndrome (a lack of direction), and there's no humor to help move things along. Then after a boring 30 minutes one of the best comic book villains of all time is shoehorned into a climax, just for the sake of having one. The climax is so generic it comes across as anti-climactic as it never really surprises. All in all this film was a mess that ended poorly due to sporadic pacing, a lack of action and humor, and a generic plot and villain. Expand

I heard the rumors and read the reviews about this film but it only made me want to see it for myself. I know, I’m a bit of a masochist. Turns out Fox’s new Fantastic Four is incredibly frustrating.

The movie had a lot of things going for it. The cast is incredible, they might not have been the ones I would have pictures in these roles, but they are still talented and interesting actors. The way they approached the characters and their relationships was also interesting and it sort of made sense to me. The fact that they were all outsiders in their own way, them being wickedly smart and kind of awkward was an idea that I could have lived with. There’s also the “scaryish” elements in the movie that I liked. It felt like they were monsters, they were strange, and all of these ideas were potentially good ones but the execution was botched.

The pace was so F-ing slow for two third of the movie, and once there’s a little bit of action it ends. At times it was obvious that some scenes were cut short, some bits of dialogues annoyed the hell out me. Fox had all of the right ingredients to make an awesome movie but they sorely missed. If we look at the bright, among other things, you can use this movie showcase the importance of editing.

Fantastic Four is the new attempt to making a good Fantastic Four movie.Needless to say it is another very much failed attempt to do so.
Now this movie actually started fine.Reed seemed interesting enough and Miles Teller is actually a very good actor and he was delivering it.Some things don't work even in the beginning of course, but overall it was fine and nothing too terrible about it.
Then the movie tries to be smart and dark which just turns out as laughable and boring. This movie takes itself way to seriously and it really should not have.Unfortunately even the Special Effects very really bad,and I was watching it and asking myself how could a 2015 Superhero movie look so bad.Nothing looked real or believable here.Especially Doom, whose design was really bad and his face looked like so terrible that at a point it just makes you laugh at it.
The overall acting is fine, there's nothing too terrible about it.The dialogue wasn't as terrible either, not most of the time at least because there are some lines that are really bad too. Also the running time is not long at all,but by the end the movie just feels like it's dragging on and that is not a good thing at all.
The final battle though sealed it for me,there I was like, that's it,this movie sucks. It tries to be this dark and giant battle and you're supposed to feel for the main characters and feel the weight of this supposedly enormous battle but it just comes out as the worst part of the movie with super bad looking effects that make it look like something that came out of a very bad looking video game that no one cares, loves or buys it.
This movie had some parts that came out as fine but overall it is a big misfire and misguided attempt into making a good Fantastic Four movie for the first time, ever.
Let's hope Marvel gets the rights back and they bring justice to these amazing characters.

When we first learned of a reboot for Marvel’s original super team the “Fantastic Four” our expectations were not high, after all the 2005 version and its 2007 sequel ‘Rise of the Silver Surfer’ were among the weakest comic-book adaptationsWhen we first learned of a reboot for Marvel’s original super team the “Fantastic Four” our expectations were not high, after all the 2005 version and its 2007 sequel ‘Rise of the Silver Surfer’ were among the weakest comic-book adaptations of the 21st century, and like Sony with ‘Spider-Man’, 20th Century Fox’s deal to retain the rights from Marvel means they have to keep making these films within a certain timeframe, regardless of the quality.

So when about half way into the film things were moving along nicely if predictably, our hopes arose, this seemed like a more considered origin tale for the characters who were presented in this version as super-kid geniuses, Miles Teller as “Reed Richards” was leading the performances admirably and things were building up to something that would surely be “Fantastic”.

But Fantastic is hardly the word we’d use for what follows in the second half of this ‘Fantastic Four’, after the group gains their powers following a disaster in the discovery of inter-dimensional travel, a discovery which is in itself more interesting than the powers it creates and the rest of the story, the tone of the film changes and the story becomes uneven.

The drama of the inner struggles of the team becomes tedious and we barely get to see them in action, then abruptly their now nemesis “Dr. Doom” re-enters the fray, they have a brief and utterly underwhelming inter-dimensional battle on a distant planet with unimpressive visuals, depriving the audience of a momentous action finale… and that’s it, the film is over.

Any jeopardy and promise built up by the origin story is obliterated by potentially the most disappointing pay-off in comic-book movie history, an utterly underwhelming conclusion that justifies our fear that this would be another pointless and disappointing superhero reboot, perhaps the inevitable sequel set for 2017 will expand the story and visuals to where they should be.

The Bottom Line…
All build-up with no payoff, any initial promise is spectacularly squandered through a faltering narrative and majorly disappointing conclusion with very little drama or action to speak of, perhaps they’re saving any thrills for the sequel but the result is just another pointless superhero reboot.

Going into the film with little hope, it initially surprised me with an almost promising start and a somewhat entertaining first half. The film however suffers by turning itself into one big build up, a build up to an overly cheesy and disengaging final act. Countless use of cheesy and poor dialogue, terrible CGI, and a story that made little sense, help to ensure that a good Fantastic Four film remains to be created. Expand

But that's not why FOX should give up and return the rights to Marvel Comics. This film began a new Universe, other than the ones of the X-Men films, as told by the producers Simon Kinberg and Hutch Parker The New York Daily News, such Universe that stays at sole discretion of those who pick it, as the way it is taking is already quite different from the original story or the previous film. Therefore, it would be a total waste to abandon this timeline, whose "trailer" has been released and has 90 minutes.

I think no one liked when the timelines of both Spider-Men (Tobey Maguire's one and Andrew Garfield's) were abandoned, leaving outstanding stories that hardly (not to say impossible) will be taken back in the comics.

It doesn't help when you have a Thing without genitals, a black-Human Torch, a love between Reed and Susan yet to be established and the film ends with the public still hoping to see the blue suits everyone loves, but I think all the actors have fit well into the character, and it's in the way of changing something, continuing to please the Genral Public, where you see the potential of a person and I think that this potential will be realized by everyone when our Quartet (more Fantastic than this time, I hope) returns to theaters and action in this film's sequel in 2017.

The movie is, simply put, ab over produced superhero film that is the perfect example for everything that's wrong about superhero movies. Everything starts off strong, but less than 30 minutes in the movie starts falling apart. The story is so straight forward from here on out, that it's boring. You get a blunt and boring plot that assumes the audience is mentally challenged, because they explain everything down to the last atom or whatever. And for anyone who isn't a science nerd, that makes for one boring ass movie. Whoever did the trailer did a great job because they picked the best shots, and left out the other 88 minutes of crap.

Mara gave the worst performance of the 4, acting as the "pretty face" for the film. For the bulk of the film she just stands there, not contributing anything to the plot. And then there's poor Jordan, who is equally useless. I have no problems about him being cast as her brother, but I have problems with him being cast period. He proves that he isn't ready for a blockbuster film, as his performance is Razzie worthy. Where Mara's Sue Storm is like a piece of scenery, he is an extra with too many lines. One of the things I enjoy about the comic is the family feel the group gives off. it's a comfortable feeling, and makes their dynamic that much stronger. The film does away with that for a "serious" sci-fi tone that ultimately doesn't pay off. There's absolutely no chemistry between the actors characters, which is a serious problem for this series.

Teller proves that even great actors can only do so much with a really, really **** script. Richards just doesn't seem like the gallant, strong, leader the comics have built him up to be. Overall Teller does a good job with what he's given, but the character still comes off as awkward and just not superhero material. And then there's poor Bell. I don't know what they did to his voice, but it sounds like two rocks are having sex while someone rubs a cheese graters against a chalkboard. In short, it's unpleasant at best.

The technical aspects of the film are fairly weak too. The fight scenes are passable, but they don't deliver anything new or different. It's pretty standard, hero vs villain, hero gets knocked down, hero has a "clever" comeback, and victory! Again, nothing new. Most superhero movies aren't very imaginative when it comes to climaxes, but F4 really takes the crap cake. The whole plot is wrapped up in less than ten minutes, and you're left thinking, "Wait, that was the end?" God I'd love to meet the person who read the final draft of the script and said, "Ya this is great! Definitely worth over $100 million!" The special effects are even more horrendous than those in the previous series. The Thing just looks like a big CGI rock, which is an improvement on the foam covered Thing from the 05 film. But some of the other effects are just inexcusable for a movie with such a big budget.

In summary, don't waste your time watching this movie unless you like being disappointed. Caught somewhere between eh, and Batman & Robin disaster levels, this movie proves why FOX should just sell the rights to Marvel. They have yet to put out a decent comic based movie that isn't X-Men. And those movies really aren't that good anymore either.

The main problem is that the movie and script felt 'amateur'.

But kudos to Josh for not making the team look completely dumb.

When the action did kick in however, it was good but even then it was only the ending fifteen or so minutes that the inevitable Dr. Doom fight went on. The beginning minutes were awesome, showcasing Reed Richards and Ben Grimm as kids is a really cool idea.

Pros: Richards & Grimm as kids.
Action is good (when finally commenced)

Cons: Script is not the best.
Generally slow.
Special effects could be better.

Overall: A '4' in my book. If you're desperate to watch it, I'd download it instead of using up money on the cinema ticket for it.

Pros:
-The actor’s are all doing a pretty good job.
-The score is kinda decent.

Cons:
-The action is not very good. The Fantastic Four use their abilities in the most generic ways possible and some of the attacks just feel weak.
-The lighting is terrible. The film is too dark and gloomy most of the time, which is such an odd choice for a superhero team as colorful as the Fantastic Four.
-The first half of the movie feels nothing like a Fantastic Four film should feel, but it’s still more enjoyable than the second half.
-Why are government scientists searching for someone who could potentially help them with their inter dimensional teleporter at a HIGH SCHOOL SCIENCE FAIR!?
-The entire second half of the movie happens because Reed, Johnny, and Doom make a stupid decision while drunk.
-Why the hell would Reed risk putting his best friend Ben in danger by having him go with them to Planet Zero? I know he’s drunk and not thinking straight, but come on, this just feels like such a forced way to get Ben back into the plot. -The scene where Reed, Johnny, Sue, and Ben get their powers feels super forced. -I have no idea how Sue even managed to get powers at all since she didn’t even go with them to Planet Zero. -The film intentionally skips over what could have been the most interesting part of the story: the Fantastic Four getting used to their powers.
-The final conflict is too short and the Fantastic Four manage to beat Doom too easily.
-Doom’s powers are too vague.
-Doom himself in this film is honestly a disgrace from the version in the comics and cartoons. There’s taking liberties with a character, and then there’s just throwing away what made him a great villain in the first place.
-The rivalry between Ben and Johnny is very forced.

Final Verdict: Fant4stic is dull, soulless, messy attempt to launch a Fantastic Four film franchise. The first half is kinda decent if you completely ignore the fact that this is supposed to be a Fantastic Four movie, but the second half is just bad. The one thing I will give this movie however is that it has reaffirmed to me that no matter what Marvel Studios does with the Fantastic Four, there’s nowhere to go but up from here.

The cast performances were at best mediocre Kate Mara is dry as Susan Storm she does not make the character come to life, Micheal b Jordan is okay as Johnny storm, but there is no deeper connection with his character this is the same for Milles Teller who seems unsure as Reed Richards sometimes, Jamie bell is Jusrt there as a Plot tool the character development is the a bit but never satisfying and Toby Kebbell as Doctor Doom is just STUPID, before he is doom there is hope for the character but comes of as underdeveloped, generic and when he becomes Doom his presence is forced, His powers don't make sense and as the villain he has a super generic plot which would have worked but with the boring acting, forced scenes it comes off as ridiculous and the final act of the movie is pathetic the showdown, stakes are meaningless. There is hardly any action in this movie with the dragged on scenes and boring conversations. The only good things about Fan 4 is the representations of Reed's powers in action sequences and The soft of neat stuff in the first half and the effort to build realationships in the last act but fails. This movie could have been decent if only FOX would have let Josh Trank make his damn movie instead of cutting out half the damn movie and replacing it with halfass reshoots that were not even directed by Trank or included in the script he wrote, and then locking him out of editing. Seriously FOX what the **** was wrong with you ? It's obvious Trank had a decent movie going for the first act which i assume were scenes he filmed before you re-shot 75% of the movie leading into an almost non-existent 2nd act then straight to a tacked on 3rd act. It's **** how FOX tries to justify their ****ery too, like "His pet dogs trashed a trailer" or "Trank & the cast didn't like each other very much", then there are these baseless claims that Trank would arrive on set Drunk and then proceed to shout obscenities at the cast & crew. Here is what i believe happened, Trank, from the start was not making an average cape movie. His idea was a Science Fiction Thriller in the vein of a Cronenberg Body-Horror film (the way they get their powers are similar to the way Brundlefly happens) that just so happened to include the FF characters and yes that would call for a "dark" tone. then while he was filming or finishing up filming, FOX realized that Fant4stic wasn't gonna be like Marvel's The Avengers so they turned on Trank then the media lead a smear campaign against him, blaming him for a film in theaters that he technically did not do. There is no development between the group members because they spend too much time trying to set up this world in a different dimension rather than just tell an origin story. When the Fantastic Four get their powers there is a bit of turmoil among the heroes but it is never resolved. I didn't really feel like this movie was too short at 100 minutes but it just did not make very good use of its time. You can not blame the cast for a disappointing film though because the characters really didn't get enough development so you weren't even sure if the chemistry was good or bad in the group.

The CGI in this film is also so bad. I think that The Thing actually looked better in the previous versions of the Fantastic Four and his voice sounds ridiculous. The CGI that is used when Mr. Fantastic stretches is also just so crude and fake. This dimension that they try to set up is very fake looking as well and you don't buy that this film is a world at all.

Finally Doctor Doom, the famous nemesis of the Fantastic Four is so poorly portrayed in this film in so many way, just like the Thing his voice sounds so lame and he looks so terrible. He looks almost exactly like Robin Williams did in Bicentennial Man. He doesn't even appear in the film until there are only 20 minutes left so needless to say the final battle between good and evil is fairly uneventful.

Sadly Fox has failed again with the Fantastic Four and I'm thinking its just about time to give up. I don't even want Marvel to carry on with these character because their own universe is starting to get crowded and I'm not sure where you could fit them in now. I have a feeling that we will see another Fantastic Four movie despite the critical and commercial flop this movie became.

The cast is utterly lackluster which is saying something since on their own they've all shown to be good actors, but here no one stands out to any degree whatsoever and they prove completely interchangeable. Well, well, well...after months and months of controversy surrounding principal photography, this is the result of a movie that was doomed from start to finish (no pun intended).

'Fantastic Four' or "FANT4STIC" is a half-assed, lazily made, dull and rushed cinematic defecation. Not many people were fussed on seeing this movie due to the controversy, and it seems that they were right that this would be a disaster.

The movie starts off where we see a young Reed Richards (Owen Judge) as he attempts to create a dimensional transporting device that will lead to another planet. He becomes friends with a young Ben Grimm (Evan Hannemann) who helps him with this experiment. First problem with this scene is that it is incredibly rushed and their friendship is built, but we do not see it growing, they just agree to help each other for some reason.

Then, 7 years later, a much older Reed (Miles Teller) and Ben (Jamie Bell) are taking this project to the next level, presenting it at a science presentation and the teachers and staff have their doubts. That is, until they are approached by Franklin Storm (Reg E Cathey) with his adopted daughter, Sue Storm (Kate Mara). Franklin is intrigued with Reed's experiment and wants him to join his lab where they can further this technology.

Michael B Jordan plays Johnny Storm, the biological son of Franklin, he is a bit of a hot-head (no pun intended, again), always getting himself in danger with racing and being rebellious. Franklin wants him to join to build the experiment, he refuses at first, but tags along anyway.

Franklin then calls in the last person, Victor Von Doom (Toby Kebbel), who is jealous that someone seems to be more successful at stealing his idea. He reluctantly joins only because he "trusts Sue Storm", apparently, they had some kind of history, but this is not further developed properly, only through small, awkward talk do we see them looking as if they had any sort of history.

The actors in this movie do fine in their roles, playing them with as much charisma as the screenplay allows them, but there is no chemistry between any of the actors. It just feels like four talented actors from really good movies forced by some devil-may-care director to get along with each other.

This is a huge problem, as when it comes to superhero ensemble films, chemistry is the most important thing. Joss Whedon did this very well with the different kinds of heroes in 'The Avengers' (2012), bringing in different heroes with different backgrounds, but their chemistry felt real, you can tell the actors got along.

Bryan Singer also achieved this in the "X-Men" movies, bringing in different mutants with different abilities and how they team up seamlessly to fight their enemies.

The "Fantastic Four" are supposed to be close friends from the get-go, but the fact that these actors could only make small talk with each other is problematic, you don't believe in their "friendship" because they don't seem to care, and neither should you.

Dr Doom's design is also laughable, Kebbel is a gifted actor and proved it with 'Dawn of the Planet of the Apes' (2014), but here, he is weighed down by cliches. The cliche that the villain has had something done to him, he is tied to a hospital bed, an agent tries to talk calm to him, but the villain looks and says "You can't stop this!", kills the doctors and agents around him, blows the massive door open, unties himself from the bed and walks down a corridor with the lights flashing constantly in the dark...it's 2015! We don't see this in comic book movies anymore.

The final battle scene is also cliche and very quick, it involves Doom sucking the earth in a black hole...why does every villain want earth to be sucked in a black hole??? He stands before the four heroes looking at the destruction, the lead says "Victor! Don't do this!", he then answers "It's already too late", I'm paraphrasing, but that's what you get.

The lead hero then looks at his "friends" and says "He's stronger than us, but he's not stronger than all of us!", and then Doom is taken down in one punch and the final battle only lasted five minutes leaving you with a big "Is that it???"

Josh Trank clearly didn't care for this project, the troubled production and his unusual behavior caused Fox to just throw this film in release and just pretend it never happened. They were selling 'X-Men: Days of Future Past' (2014) like it was "The Avengers", but you can tell they were ashamed of this movie.

The only good thing is that it looks less animated than the 2005 film, but I'd prefer to watch that movie...
