Highly provocative and highly original. The movie is a little drawn-out but it's really a masterpiece of ultra-modern cinema-- totally current and completely seductive. Watch it full volume on the biggest screen possible.

A rare treat that comes around only once in a decade. The film is not linear, its not cohesive and by god it makes littel to no sense most of the time. That all said and done, it feels amazing. When you watch this film, it does what any great film should, it takes you away. It wipes cleanA rare treat that comes around only once in a decade. When you watch this film, it does what any great film should, it takes you away. It wipes clean everything else and transports you to a fantastic place. Its a melodrama so don't expect the acting to be top notch, but it doesnt matter. The way its told, the way its edited and then presented is stunning. Along with Children of God this is the best movie of the last decade. Even at its two and a half hour run time it hooks you till the end. It takes you away from whatever world you currently preside in and show you a tale of love and loss like little else that has ever been shown. If you love art and film this is a must see film. JUst one warning, don't watch it stoned.… Expand

Unlike anything I have ever scene. A completely brilliant piece of visual art. The strangest part is that it actually succeeds in drawing a narrative from a largely wordless, largely abstract series of gorgeous camera stunts. And, even if you find yourself frustrated by certain aspects of the movie, you will still be blown away by the way it looks. This is one of the most beautifully shot films in history. The cinematographer was Marc Caro from Amelie and City of Lost Children fame. This is easily the best looking movie he's ever been a part of, and that's saying A LOT. This is a completely unique experience, though admittedly not for everyone.… Expand

An excellent immersive psychedelic trip with great cinematography and choices of filmmaking that makes the movie unique. It has two little problems, the acting sucked at some minor parts and there were things that could be presented in a more subtle way like the whole concept of it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First off, I should say that I extremely disliked Noe's Irreversible, to the point that I was prepared to leave the cinema. Watched it to the end, and I still think it to be a weak story that was supposed to make a loud bang through its use of violence. Regardless of this, I liked Enter the Void. The story still is pretty simple, but the execution is wonderful, and the movie very often is visually compelling. With the exception of some sex scenes (of which there are a lot in the movie, so if you don't like to watch that kind of material or are offended by it than this is not a movie for you), the movie veers away from the mixture of brutality and explicitness one could see in Irreversible. This is not to say that the movie is either easy or conventional, and I would argue that it caters for particular, offbeat tastes. This is both for reasons of its length (a lot of people have problems with movies that last longer than two hours, this one is two-and-a-half), as well as the matter in which it was conceived, as the viewers watch the situation from the viewpoint of a person in the midst of a psychedelic experience (at least that's how I saw it). Not for the common viewer, not for every viewer, not even for most viewers, but I do consider this movie worthwhile.… Expand

Following suit to Irreversible, the main study remains but with more formalist experimentations and metaphysical voyeurism. Only weaker than it's predecessor due to its lack of connectivity made with the protagonist and the viewer, replacing the protagonist *with* the viewer. Supposed to be trippy, but all the flashing **** is really stupid. It's a little messed up and for certain reasons the sound levels are annoying as **** The whole thing is also really dragged out.
