There is, perhaps, an argument to be made for representing a time and place truthfully, but because the film does not critically engage with the uglier elements of the society it portrays, these become a distraction. This is a fun, life affirming tale about two rebellious teens who get their own back, getting even on those who've bullied them. There's plenty of very strong language, so be aware of that - the characters are quite punk rock-ish. Its a fun film, a gritty and urban film. Sort of a GG Allin lite meets his manic pixie dream girl if you have low expectations. The difference being that this pulls it off in a rather optimistic and charming way.
