This is so funny and heartwarming. I love the extra development behind Willy Wonka! The acting, music, and visuals are fantastic and captures the spirit of Roald Dahl better than the saccharine tone of the 70s movie with Gene Wilder.

É divertido no mínimo,Johnny Depp arrasa como Willy Wonka,Mas o filme para um adulto ou um próprio adolescente já não tem muita graça. Falta ação é claro, porém tem seus momentos

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory gets a sugar rush.
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory excels with little difficulty under the direction of Tim Burton and the acting performances of Highmore and Depp.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. For those who say the original film was better, they never read the book, aside from the dentist father part which was excellent, the movie was almost exactly the same, the Oompa Loompa single person(deep Roy) sing shortened versions of the books Oompa Loompa songs, Oompa Loompas all look the same to each other, so the original was wrong, Violet from the original looked like a blue serf board while in this movie Annasophia Robb who by the way is one of the best parts of the movie, was actually round like a blueberry!!! In the original, Charlie is yes send at after drinking the float soda, when he and his grandfather weren’t supposed, also not by the book, where Charlie wins for being honest and not a brat and following the rules, the best part of the original was gene wilder, goodbye end of story, the guy who was Charlie was ugly and talentless and over the top bad.

Freddie highmore was the exact Charlie they should’ve had in the original If he was alive back then!!! Johnny way surpassed wilder in the sense of I’m a wacky guy looking for someone to take care of his factory!! The kids, Veruca was the only kid in the original movie with the best song that she sings not the Oompa Loompas as I said before!!

All in all,

Tim Burton and the rest followed the book almost perfectly to the T!!! Me being the son of a dentist, found it relatable and hilarious!!! Great everything!!!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As the lesser younger brother, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory does its job. It tells the story of the lovable Charlie Bucket but largely forgoes the Willy Wonka. What we're left with here is Johnny Depp as an unconvincing chocolatier. How are we supposed to take him seriously with his ridiculous attire and creepy mannerisms? He's giving away a chocolate factory; not running a child prostitution ring!

But forgive me, Roald Dahl. I'm not dissing your story. For what it's worth, I love the story. The chocolate and the candy and the factory was so amazing to me as a child. I loved the splendor and the fantasy that came along with it. I also loved watching this particular version as well, if even just for the opening credits. I think the movie works despite the semi-failure of one of the major characters. Each child is portrayed just as they should be with their respective flaws. They were as enthralling as they were revolting.

I also commend the cinematographer. How one manages to so accurately capture a child's imagination is beyond me, but I remember sitting in the theater in Kansas City watching this movie like it could have happened in my own head. Tim Burton creates a world with distorted humor in Willy Wonka's past and exuberant juvenility in the world he's created for the future – the factory. But of course, those still existing in that age won't notice. It's our dirty little secret.

For another Willy Wonka installment, it's weaker against the original 1971 movie. (I know, it's based on the Charlie and the Chocolate Factory book). It's still enjoyable and nothing's wrong with that.

The cast was memorable, the songs were memorable. And best of all Gene Wilder brought out the best in Wonka were as Depp made him into a creepy MJ wannabe. I read the book and even though this movie included Charlie's father and his occupation, and the ending with the cast off kids, it still fell short. Especially when they included Wonka's daddy dentist issues. Expand

He sparked the excitement and he laid down the rules to the lucky winners. The original had a sense of intrigue about what really would happen to those awful kids. There were lessons to be learned; there was redemption for Charlie; there was meaning to those oompaloompa songs. This version was all flash and absolutely no soul, no lessons, no redemptive values. I should have known that when the critics fawn with such great effort, it is likely to cover up their idols' horrendous misplays. I give it 'one' for the technology and 'zero' for everything else. The child who reaches the end of the visit can get a prize, but each one has a weakness that will be tested in each room. The result is a series of accidents involving children, who yield to their weaknesses and vices, being readily assisted by their parents and workers of the factory, the Oompa Loopas.

This film was based on the children's novel by Roald Dahl, which already has an adaptation to the cinema dating from 1971. Anyone who has read the book or watch this movie with attention quickly notice that there is a didactic purpose behind the story. All children except Charlie, showed a character flaw, a vice or wrong behavior, and the "fate" of them is just the result of failing to resist it (two had addictions - television and chewing gum - one was greedy and another was so spoiled that no one could contradict it). Most children's stories have moral grounds and lessons to be learned, it isn't new and proves its character as a children's tale.

I think Tim Burton, director of this film, conceived it in a mistaken way. This movie seems too adult for a children's story and, at the same time, it seems too childish for a teen audience. So it ends up in a "middle ground" between them, a fact that wasn't positive. No one questions the qualities of Tim Burton, who has accustomed the public to great but eccentric films. However, his vocation isn't the children's audience. He has made animated films ("Corpse Bride" is the most notable example) but they were all directed for adults or adolescents. And this is a children's story, that would have been better in a children's movie. Maybe someone at Disney Pixar can make a good adaptation of this tale.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005)
This is a musical fantasy comedy film directed by Tim Burton and written by John August, based on the 1964 British novel of the same name by Roald Dahl. The film stars Johnny Depp(he is my favourite actor) as Willy Wonka and Freddie Highmore as Charlie Bucket. This film is good for all ages! Little children will see here animated movie but if you are older you can catch the main idea. The storyline is a bit unusual what make it fascinating… Firstly, children need to find tickets in chocolate. After, 4 winners is led by Wonka on a tour of his chocolate factory, the most magnificent in the world. At first sight, you don’t see any problem to walk through the factory and win the biggest prize but our guys will be tempted! I really like scenes when some of children is lose the game. It’s so funny! Also the faces of their parents who try to leave with dignity.
I’d recommend this film. The main idea is important and I believe that this film will help you to understand it! Review by Dasha, 15, Ekaterinburg

It's quite a mystery that this quality has passed me by. The film won't keep you waiting long and has a fast pace. Right at the beginning, you will be greeted by a great intro preparing chocolate and then he will introduce us to the main character Karlík, although the fact is that the main one came to me Willy Wonka, who shone the most in this film. Really Johny Depp was perfect here. As the name suggests, this is a chocolate factory, which we will also look at and that it looks damn great there. Really wonderful workmanship, but that's purely my opinion. Willy Wonka, whom I have already mentioned here, will also get a few flashbacks here, which are perfect and will show us something from the past, and then the film will take and end. The ending that I will not spoiler is very successful. At least in my opinion. Of course, it's not perfect. Here and there the part where it's sung, which I don't explicitly take as a minus, but it's just not my taste and it's not much to sing, in fact I don't have to in movies at all. But I have to say that there are only a few songs here, so it didn't really bother me and I survived. Overall, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory surprisingly dare not just about chocolate, although they form a logically significant part of the film. I just want to say that the film will give us something more in the end. A great movie for me that I can recommend. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Good quality of the book "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" lead to highly enjoyable film adaptation. Whereas a lot of on-screen versions of many different successful novels sometimes  looks losing. This film to my mind the movie came out better than the book written by Roald Dahl.

Once Willy Wonka-owner of chocolate factory  put 5 golden tickets in 5 chocolate bars and announced that those children who find tickets will have the opportunity to enter the factory.  A real excitement begins in the world. The main character of the film is Charlie, a boy from a poor family, who lives in a small house with his parents, two grandfathers and two grandmothers.  Charlie's father is fired from his job, and the family is in dire straits.  In the same city is the Willy Wonka chocolate factory, where Charlie's grandfather Joe used to work. Charlie accidentally finds a ticket. He and four children - spoiled and never knew the need - were lucky to find invitations to the factory.  Perhaps one of them will be lucky again, and this lucky one will receive a gift from Willie Wonka himself.  But luck, finally, smiles more worthy of them was the same not spoiled boy Charlie, who received a factory as a reward for his kindness, honesty and selflessness.

In short "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" is well-script, well-cast, with meaning and I can recommend them to everybody to watch with family.

Johnny Depp played the role of Willy Wonka, and you could hardly even tell it was him, proving how good an actor he is. I did find the character a bit disturbing, but he was funny in his own unique way. The kids were all massive upgrades from the original versions, with more character and personality. Charlie however, I couldn’t stand. He was a f*cking saint in this version, while bland and too much of a goody two shoes. The set designs and visuals were the best part of this film, it all looks so wacky and fun and the chocolate easily makes you hungry. The songs were entertaining with one man playing every single Oompa Loompa, and representing different eras of old school music. And then there is Wonka’s welcome song which is so painfully catchy you’ll have to take a hammer in the head to get it out! Ugh. This film is extremely weird but fun to watch, and I’ll give Depp and Burton credit for a good remake. It’s a lot different from the original, but in a good way. Expand

It is lighthearted and the actors did a great job of potraying the steriotypes of the children, parents, and even background characters! However, like most things, it has it's baggage. For one, some parts of the movie just feel... Weird... The cutscenes with Willy Wonka although intriguing, feel out of place and overall contribute nothing and I find myself skipping over them. Some of the characters also feel as if they should have gotten more recognition than they actually got. For example, Charlie's mom felt like she should have gotten more screen time, but I feel as if that's more of a nitpick. Despite these drawbacks, the movie holds up and deserves a 7 in my opinion.
