This movie is amazing.
Action scenes, story, the characters, visuals etc are amazing.
It shows us the issue of trust and opinions (Ok maybe not opinions.)
and seeing spiderman and black panther was awesome.
I recommend this movie.

I felt going into this movie that I would be disappointed, but I'm glad to say that this movie blew me away. This is the 2nd best MCU movie right behind The Winter Soldier. This movie closes out the best trilogy of movies in the MCU. The movie can be surprisingly dark at some points which I honestly loved. I feel like even though most of the Civil War book was ignored, it still held the same key points enough for it to warrant the title. A very worthy successor to The Winter Soldier. Unfortunately, that's a very low bar to start with. Boring, anti-climatic, and just... overall filled with poorly thought out nonsense just to push an even poorer thought out plot. I found myself incredibly frustrated with almost all characters at one point or another, because consistent characterization is just non-existent throughout MCU movies.

The only saving grace of this movie were the Captain America scenes (believe me, the title is misleading; this is an Avengers movie). Characterization actually made sense in those, and the fights were well choreographed and entertaining to watch. Can't say the same about the final show down, however, with the sad setting they picked for it. An empty airport, really? I'm asleep.

The Captain America films are the only Marvel films that continue to get better with each new installment. Captivating, emotional suspenseful, Civil War shows to be much more than just a "comic-book" film. We are finally beginning to see how the actions of our superheroes have dire consequences. As well, Marvel has made major improvements in its villain department, giving us a villain that isn't just there to be a foil. A deeper examination of the film shows that it can serve as a social commentary with being divisive. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Ah, Captain America: Civil War. Directed by the awesome Russo Brothers, who gave us the epic Winter Soldier. This is a good movie. The acting, action, and dialogue are all great. But there are some things I would definitely change about this film that I think would make it a lot better. One, if either Captain America or Iron Man died at the end of the film. that would feel like a gutsy move, and really raise the stakes of the events. And two, if the Avengers had been fighting because of the accords and some other reasons, instead of someone on the outside orchestrating everything. It would've felt a lot mote weighty if they had been fighting solely because of opposing ideals or some emotional reasons. But what we got here feels kinda cheap to me. But overall Captain America: Civil War is a good movie that is worth seeing at least once. I look forward to see what the Russo Brothers can pull off in Infinity War and its sequel. Expand

The story here is very, very comic book. It's a lovely film that is gripping and very exciting to watch. And I do personally like, love, a lot of these characters. But, it's ugly. It's a very, very, very ugly shot film. It is not visually appealing due to the awful use of the colour the film uses. And some of the CGI suffers because of this. It's very disheartening because it makes re-watching "CIVIL WAR" imo, very much so, a challenge. Im no expert on cinematography, but when watching a comic book film, I want to feel the colour, I want to feel invested in a vibrant world of absurdity. Making these characters seem darker, instead of more colourful seems like a wasted opportunity, and I personally believe that it takes away from making the flick much more enjoyable. Recently Thor Ragnarok came out, and that flick did a MUCh better job with colour, and cinematography *admititly the flick does have some awfully unfocused shots, and also it has some shoddy lip sinking with the CGI, but it's much more enjoyable and entertaining* I think Civil War is okay. Its just above average. Expand

And it's also one of the best cbms ever made.

Taking place after the events of "Avengers: Age of Ultron", "Civil War" finds the team divided as they disagree over international oversight of the Avengers. Two factions are created, one lead by Steve Rogers and the other by Tony Stark. This conflict leads to the debut of other popular Marvel characters, such as Black Panther and Spider-Man and a big fight between the members.

"Civil War" meets the high bar set by the Russo Brothers with "The Winter Solider" and offers a fun, action-packed and entertaining, albeit more grounded and dramatic addition to Kevin Feige's successful franchise. It's a great example of how blockbusters should be made and offers much depth to iconic characters such as Captain America and Iron Man.

The film is well over two hours. The fights are endless. The one-liners come fast and furious and make the fight at the airport hilarious. For me, the high point of the film.

My main problem with the film is this: How is it that Tony Stark, the guy with an ego too big for any one planet, is the guy who opts to go along with the government, while Mr. Patriotism, Capt America, is the guy who decides to go rogue? Also, the plotline revolving around the evil or stupid government deciding to oppress the superheroes is getting a little old.

Despite that, Evans gives probably his best Cap portrayal yet: less brooding, but more assured. He's clearly comfortable in the role now, and is never outshone by Downey jr.'s Stark / Ironman. The usual great Marvel action sequences are back, with a story that takes a while to build but has a great twist at the end. At the film's center lies the question: should the Avengers be put under UN oversight, or not? Both sides are presented well, and the main threat is approached by each side in different (and conflicting) ways, generating much of the tension for the final showdown. 8/10 for yet another great ensemble film from Marvel.

Drawback: you need to have seen The Winter Soldier and Age of Ultron for all the characters' motivations to make complete sense.

However, these are not the only players involved in this superhero extravaganza, with Captain America being joined by the Winter Soldier, Falcon, Scarlet Witch, Ant-Man and Hawkeye, and Iron Man teaming up with War Machine, Black Widow, Vision, and newly introduced, Black Panther and Spiderman. Civil War is definitely the most intense and mature of all the MCU films and what the Russo's (directors) really grasped well is creating an environment where we as the audience can invest and care for these heroes on an emotional level, which is testament to what the MCU has done with all these well-developed characters. Throughout all these years, we have seen all these characters evolve, not just as heroes but as people. The histories of both Steve Rogers and Tony Stark are central to the story that develops in Civil War, and the events that ensue creates the division within the Avengers, as well as the people watching the film unfold. This also helps our villain, Zemo, increase his influence on the audience, because as invested viewers, whether you picked a side or not, no-one wants the villain to achieve his goal. With great writing, great directing and great acting, this film acts on what it intends to achieve superbly, creating the best Marvel film seen to date. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I'm actually not a big fan of the team-up MCU movies. I think The Avengers is mediocre and Age of Ultron to be pretty bad. I like the singular movies just fine though (i.e. Iron Man 1 and 3, Captain America 1 & 2, Thor movies etc). Civil War blew me away with how good it actually is. Dramatic moments in the movie actually had a lot of feeling, the actors really meshed well together in this one and the newcomers (Black Panther and Spider-Man) totally stole the show. I never really cared for Spider-Man until I saw this movie. Now I am pumped to see Spider-Man: Homecoming. The same goes for Black Panther; I can't wait to see his solo outing in 2018.

The only negatives I could only think of were the first 15 minutes or so were kinda meh in my opinion and that the title Captain America: Civil War doesn't really make much sense considering this really isn't a Captain America movie. I would named it Marvel's Civil War or something along those lines.

Well, I still can't believe it. Batman and Superman are my favorite superheroes of all-time (even though I haven't seen Batman V. Superman yet, mainly because of waiting to see the "Ultimate Edition" instead of the critically panned theatrical version). I grew up with those heroes and love them to death. But Captain America: Civil War is the best superhero movie of the year.

EDIT: I liked Batman v Superman better.

The Russos and the writers managed to blend in the actions, mystery, emotions, and of course, the quips. "Captain America: Civil War" is an appropriate finale for the ever-improving Captain America trilogy. While it doesn't break new grounds in the genre ("The Dark Knight trilogy" and 2012's "The Avengers" have that honor), it certainly did enough to offer something new to the audience (In a much better way then the other Superhero vs Superhero flick earlier this year.

While some people think that the villain is weak and boring, I think it's one of the smartest villains in MCU. While a great many people see this is an Avengers movie, there are some (including me) would still see this as a Cap movie. The Civil War event and the other Avengers are build around the Cap/Buck story arch, a continuation of "The Winter Soldier". Yes, this is a busy movie (Also the longest in the MCU), but it doesn't feel that long and/or boring, thanks to the lighthearted moments

As far as box office go, I have no doubt this will certainly be Disney's 3rd gargantuan hit this year, and might possibly be the biggest of the year.

Sure Cap was hell bent on saving his Bucky, his ol' pal. Granted that I loved that Spiderman showed up and the fight scene was great, too much Tony just dulled this movie. My problem is, this felt more of an Avengers movie than it was a Captain America movie. I gave it a 7 because if you just primarily focused on Cap, Bucky, Natasha and Sam...that could have been the movie on it's own. It would have been more interesting (had they kept the original premise) in regards to those other Winter Soldiers and go from there. Other than that I would have called this Avengers 2.5 instead of Captain America. Expand

But... overall I enjoyed it. I liked the cast, even Spider-Man who I just criticized. It may have been on the lazy side as far as movies go, but it had enough humor and entertainment value that I didn't feel like I had just wasted my time watching it.

I first saw it on Netflix though, so I probably would have been more harsh toward it had I paid movie ticket prices to see it. For "free" though? Yeah, pretty good movie.

Of course the humor is there and there is plenty of action to keep you indulged for the entire 2 hours+ that you are there. In all honesty, this should have been an Avengers movie rather than a Captain America movie because he shares the screen equally with other characters such as Iron Man, Bucky, and the newcomer Black Panther. Something that is worth noting is that this movie will not have your typical villain. Overall a fun ride through and through but then again, that's to be expected. Expand

Marvel is slowly becoming to bloated, saturated, and corporate to be enjoyable anymore. Disney has done exactly what it is setting out to do: make a product that is polished to a perfect smooth shape without having any contradictions or flaws. There is no friction with consuming this film, but to my pallet it's to the point that the taste is now indistinguishable from any of the other Marvel Films. Without enough stylization, all of these productions are starting to blur together without anything distinguishing them. Half-way through these movies, I find myself asking, "Is this the one where [event] happens?" Audience need not look any further than to figure out if Hulk and Thor are both in the movie at once to find the answer. I am bored, desensitized, and no longer interested in this film universe. The characters aren't grounded or distinguished enough for me to care about them anymore. What's the worst that's going to happen to Captain America or Tony Stark? They're going to have a tantrum on each other, sure. But no one is going to go full-measure. Kind of like what Scarlet Witch said to Clint Barton when he was fighting Black Widow: "You're pulling your punches." Yawn. Disney is far too worried about pleasing everyone to do anything that is actually exciting. You trust Disney/Marvel because it's an insured/secured/prove brand. You don't go to watch their movies to actually have your ability to process a story tested, you go for a McDonald's Cheeseburger that you know is going to taste exactly like every McD's cheeseburger you've ever had and will ever have. Again, Yawn! Expand

In general, I thought the movie was solid but somewhat of a let down, not on the same level and excitement that Captain America: The Winter Soldier gave me but a great effort nonetheless. And honestly, this feels more like an Avengers 2.5 movie rather than a Captain America 3 movie. My favorite things about the movie are Chris Evan's Steve Rogers/Captain America as always he does a great job, Chadwick Boseman's T'Challa/Black Panther, and Tom Hollad's Peter Parker/Spider-Man. 1 of my least favorite things were Robert Downey Jr.'s character development had taken a toll. Congratulations, you have just reached the spoiler zone.

This movie starts great and keeps you hooked. Even if there are a few plot holes and miscalculations, the plot is great.

Then there's this dumb airport scene.

At first, it makes some sense. Cap wants to get the jet from the airport, but Iron Guy won't let him 'cause he thinks Cap is stupid. The movie just throws in Hawkeye, Ant Man, and Spider-Man a bit earlier without giving them real personal motivations to be in a superhero battle, but whatever; Cap and Iron Guy need mini-armies. That doesn't really make much sense.

Then it gets really dumb. In their airport battle, they start quipping and wisecracking each other even though they look like they're going to kill each other. Cap gets a truck on Spider-Man, almost murdering the young, innocent teenager. Spider-Man's in his own movie in the near future, though, so he gets his webs out and survives. Even though it looks as if Cap tried to slaughter Spider-Man, they're all hunky-dory with each other since Cap is Spider-Man's idol like every other character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Cap then asks poor Spider-Man where he's from, and he says he is from Queens. Cap says he is from nearby in Brooklyn, and they bond even though CAPTAIN AMERICA ALMOST MURDERED SPIDER-MAN!!! (Meanwhile, the audience is distracted by "THE BEST ADAPTATION OF SPIDER-MAN!!!!!!!!!!!!") Ant-Man works in the scene, but there's no reason as to why he's here. Hawkeye is there so Hawkeye can be in something besides the Avengers movies. All in all, the airport scene and some scenes before it don't fit with the movie.

Then the movie gets back into shape.

Some of the heroes are imprisoned, and War Machine almost dies. Now we have some depth to these innocent, fictional perfect people. Iron Guy watches his parents die twenty-five years back, and the scene is shot and edited excellently. The resulting action scene is kind of dumb, but at least it fits in with the rest of the movie.

The movie ends with American Martin Freeman containing Sokovian (wherever that exists in Marvel's version of Earth) Daniel Brühl and the heroes being buddies yet enemies (because of reasons).

Given that you can be just as easily swayed by either teams opinion, the conflict has more weight. It's a battle where no one is right, and no one is wrong. That's because The Avengers are finally seeing some consequences to their actions. Yeah, they were saving the world, but in the process they inadvertently caused a lot of civilian casualties. Casualties that, as Vision puts it, might have been avoided had none of them existed in the first place. It's nice to see a little more maturity, seriousness, and believability injected into the MCU.

Civil War doesn't skimp out on the excitement either. All the promise of seeing your favorite superheroes clash onscreen is delivered upon. So is the promise of new faces entering into the MCU for the first time. Chadwick Boseman nails it as the savage Black Panther and Tom Holland's Spider-Man is the highlight of the movie.

Needless to say Civil War is just as exciting, action-packed, and fun as you would expect. So what about it's issues? Well, there are few. Not enough to ruin the movie by any means, but enough to keep it from reaching it's true potential.

For starters the special effects aren't that great. The main issue is that the plot running in the background that actually causes the Avengers to clash with one another is kind of disappointing. The villain is just another guy ticked at superheroes because of the destruction they unintentionally caused in the two Avengers movies and seeks revenge. Haven't we seen that before?

There's also the fact that things wrap up a little too easily. By that I mean that the whole thing ends on a note where the Avengers can get back together, no real hard feelings, to fight the next global threat. It's another example of these movies not really having any stakes. No real consequences, despite the synopsis telling us there was/is.

So yeah, it's got some disappointments. However they all fade away when you're watching the heroes do battle with one another, both physically and verbally. A fight that's complete with humor and spectacular depictions of the characters powers. It's also great to see the MCU expand with faces we've all been asking for a while now. Civil War delivers on it's promises. It's another exciting entry in the MCU and shows that that the superhero genre hasn't run out of steam yet. It's not the best jumping on point for newcomers, but it not going to disappoint longtime fans.

But now, Captain America: Civil War has become one ofI’ll admit that I don’t care too much about the Marvel Cinematic Universe. They’re fun to sit through in a theater full of other excited fans, but nothing about them resonates too deeply. But now, Captain America: Civil War has become one of the better of the movies within the trope. It’s packed with the excitement, twists, fun, and laughter that we all expect from Marvel at this point. While it isn’t worth multiple viewings, it is worthwhile for the teens, as there’s more under that shiny armor than what meets the eye.

Based on the 2007 Civil War comic books, this third addition to Captain America’s misadventures turns him into a criminal that the nation has lost its hope in. It’s similar to Batman v. Superman, except done better. The Avengers now find themselves in a public media predicament after a mishap in a Lagos chemical heist ends with several people dying thanks to them. Now, the government decides to let the United Nations Panel instruct the super team. Looks like Captain America now has to clear his name not only with the politicians, but his own close friends and teammates.

Minus Hulk and Thor, all the heroes you know and love are back in action: Captain America, Iron Man, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Vision, Mass Destruction, Hawkeye, Falcon, and Ant-Man, plus some new faces as well: the smoothly cunning Black Panther and your friendly neighborhood, Spider-Man. Now let me tell you, it’s the web slinger’s third reboot within a decade, and at last they got the character right! Within the first 10 seconds, you will instantly say to yourself, “Yes! Tom Holland was born to be Peter Parker! And Spider-Man!” His backstory is also smartly left out. After all, we already know it as this point, right?

The rest of the heroes also have their share of some great laughs, Vision in particular, and they always seem to have tons of fun with each other on set. But I have one complaint though: it’s the same old shtick we’ve always seen. We’ve got a super talented cast that includes Robert Downey Jr. and Scarlet Johansson, and they’re doing the same thing we’ve always seen them do. It’s not them that’s the problem, it’s the two directors, brothers Anthony and Joe Russo. They just don’t know how to stage actors while getting worthwhile performances.

There are some cool decision that these two make in continuing the series, and some not so cool. With the action scenes, it’s impossible to tell whether if they’re awesome or pathetic.

But first, the good stuff: a garbage truck breaks down the arch in front of a medical center, Johansson totally rocks in combat action, there’s a tunnel chase, Captain America holds down an entire helicopter by himself, the Avengers fight one another in one of the best moments of the entire movie series, and one hero has a big surprise that I cannot mention out of fear of spoiling anything.

Now, the bad stuff: It’s hard to see the action because of the sped up footage and shaky camera (you know what I’m talking about), the editing is monstrous, characters who needed backstories didn’t get one, the VFX looks fake a lot of the time, Black Panther appears out of nowhere and at an unbelievably convenient time, and there is too much talking that takes away the tension.

So therefore, the action is neither awesome nor pathetic. It’s awesomely pathetic. Or is that pathetically awesome? Nah, I’ll go with the first option.

What I love right now about the Marvel Cinematic Universe is how every hero has his own story to tell. What makes it better is how this series makes that concept work so well, almost like it’s the narrative of television marrying the narrative of film! I also like how it points out the issue of heroes creating mass destruction and putting the people in danger, possibly out of reaction towards Man of Steel. Although I probably could’ve done with a shorter film and a clearer plot, it’s neat to see how all the subplots come together in the end.

For a genre that gets more repetitive every day this is finally an interesting release by this studio, a studio that often fails to appeal to people who need more than just an average family-friendly flick. The best part of it all is Captain America and his friend´s relationship. One could think there´s something else there. The many heroes used here are well balanced for the most part. Being the most irritating thing the new Spiderman (yes, another new one). Nobody needed a super young incarnation of Spiderman, and much less an Aunt May that looks like 30 years old. Overall, a great watch. like I said, the most interesting to date from Marvel. Still only a 7 out of 10. It´s not like these films are masterpieces with tremendous scripts and performances or anything. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Another movie around Winter Soldier and how everyone uses him as a toy for their own amusement. The plot to set them "as enemies" is weak compared to Batman vs Superman. Even if it's not a dissapointment, I've high expectations about Marvel. Please live Winter Soldier frozen once and for all, and do something good about Spiderman. Expand

So one day Captain America and his crew save a city and kill innocent civilians... thats the reason a civil war started... Seriously!?
They get blamed for saving a city and killing maybe 50 civilians in the process and this causes authority to... I don't really need to say more other than the movie is good, but the plot destroys it

Only kids or man children could like this dumb film. The only positives i could give this movies is it's good action (the airport fight is the weakest) and performances. The guy who plays Spider-man was good, but a majority of his dialogue was awful, and sounds like he was written by a fifty year old trying to sound like a teen "have you guys seen that really old movie Empire Strikes Back" No teenager talks like that. There is also a lot of unfinished, weak CGI in this movie. Watch crude, hilarious Deadpool, or intelligent masterpiece BvS UE instead. I seriously don't understand why critics or anyone else gave this film positive reviews, but i guess critics also gave the terrible F&F7 positive reviews as well. Expand

The heroes're divided and so the fans!

Before watching this I thought what the Avengers are doing here. I believed they got the title wrong. Once I watched it, I'm still the same. Because it did not look like the Captain America's film, he never was dominated, so calling it as his film totally inappropriate. Technically, it is a third Avengers film and well done. I liked it, it was entertaining. But the Civil War means it's nothing a nation's war within, just these super-guys fight for themselves against what kind of administration they want to come under.

I think they have heard that people's complaint about blowing up the buildings during reviewing other films by bringing up this one. So they finger pointed those events in this narration and that is one of the reasons for the Civil War to take place. Particularly disturbing the public and loss of many lives when these powerful men fighting the bad guys. The fun part is they are off the street and had a most important confrontation of the film in a deserted airfield. So does it make people who were whining about that be happy?

I don't know, but as an entertaining film, it did everything it can give the best for the viewers. Like the title and posters reveal, the heroes are divided here and probably you're going to take a side. Like usual, I'm with the Stark. So if you're like me, then you would feel the annoyance with the opposite team, particularly like Antman and obviously Captain America's rebellious decision. It was like the world versus United States, because only Americans are behind Captain America. Anyway, I did not like dividing the fans and what this film has been a serious damage. I hope the fans won't take it seriously.

I found the film quite dull in most parts especially the action scenes midway through. The story never really go me interested until the end. The end of the film saves it from being a total disappointment.

Though the movie is by no means bad, it certainly falls short in the long run and compared to other Marvel installments.

So, Captain America: Civil War was greatly anticipated and was a guaranteed hit this year with the box office and critics. Whilst it seemed to be praised greatly by critics, many fans I have spoken too as well as myself agree, it wasn't good.

First of all, The Winter Soldier is basically what this film is going to be compared too by everyone, there is no escaping it, it is there for comparison due to it being one of the best Marvel movies, arguably ever.

So Civil War had a lot of expectations to live up too, did it meet them? Well in my controversial opinion, no.

The film is in all honesty a clunky mess of fan service and bad camera work.

Firstly let's talk about the camera work. The remarkable thing about Marvel movies is that they have always managed to feel remarkably cinematic and look professional. Civil War threw it all out of the window in an attempt to make the action 'grittier'. All this 'grittier' action got us however was extremely choppy and shaky camera work that seemed almost as lost as the audience was at the end of Inception.
Honestly, there is one scene that stands out to me as the fight going on? Yeah we didn't see that, the camera decided to start shaking looking at a wall.

The plot is also far too complex for it's own good. Sure it was good that Marvel had begun to delve into the more political and consequential side of their heroes however it's done so in a way that not only feels rushed, but also brushed over. They seem to think it's the first movie to do this in the superhero genre but it is not. Batman V Superman did it better and more consistently.

Civil War did have positives though, despite the complex plot, potential does shine through certain parts. Such as the airport fight scene in which we see these 'teams' fight. However yet again, it's wasted as they all seem to be friends again for the epilogue of the movie.

The main issue CA: CW faces it's the fact that by cramming all of these heroes into one film. they have to demonstrate their powers along with new things we haven't yet seen from the already introduced heroes. This in turn results into a lot of what feels like forceful fan service. Sure Ant-Man turning big was cool to watch, but it wasn't really necessary, it was just there to extend this fight.

One good thing to come of the film is that there is this feeling that there are consequences for these characters, and sets up a good few films still to come.

In the end Civil War is a massive disappointment and doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

Final Opinion: Just read the comic instead.

Civil War gets a 4/10 from me or in letter grade system, a D.

It starts out with a boring fight scene, then nothing happens for about 20 minutes as the superheros all sit round talking nonsense, then another boring fight scene, followed by a boring car chase. If you're not emotionally invested in these comic book characters and just want to watch an engaging film, this isn't one to watch. I was utterly bored by half way and gave up watching.

Its all been done before, and its been done better. These superhero movies are a conveyor line of mediocrity and I'm done with the whole genre now, there's too many that are essentially all the same thing, people in spandex fist-fighting in CGI filled-sequences. They're all becoming mindless garbage designed to get the comic book fans into the cinemas during the first week no matter how bad these films are.

At first it felt like it will be more about the idea that split them - being regulated by UN or being able to do completely what they want. But they just somehow threw that idea out of the window and didn't mention as much later as Winter Soldier appeared. Yeah it kinda is about the same idea but here you can easily see who is right, even though they should have taken the idea further. Also the ending is a bit boring and quite predictable. It's really entertaining though, but I think the writing could have been much better. Expand
