These movie critics are soyboys. This movie was a real surprise. Didn´t expect much but got me really hooked. Especially the scene with the orc gang and the end. Waiting for the sequel!

I know Will Smith remembers the 80s, it’s the decade from whence he came (unfortunately). Therefore, I’m also pretty sure he’ll have heard of Alien Nation, a movie about a cop who’s teamed up with a recently arrived alien as a partner. Therefore, I’m also pretty sure he’ll have heard of Alien Nation, a movie about a cop who’s teamed up with a recently arrived alien as a partner. The difference between that film and this one – Alien Nation was quite good.

Everything you’ve heard about Bright is true – it’s terrible. Even on paper the concept looks daft, but once up on the screen it’s ten times worse. Will Smith plays Will Smith playing Captain Steven Hiller (Independence Day) or Det. Del Spooner (I, Robot), that’s to say the same character he always plays. It’s like he’s turning into an alternate Tom Cruise. There are Orcs and Fairies and swords and LA ‘gangstas’ and so much ridiculousness that if I tell you anymore about it you’ll think I’m on a crack binge.

Netflix give good TV, but their movies stink, and this is the stinkiest so far. Maybe if you fancy a bit of hate-watching, this is the film for you. Or you’re studying film and you want to see how not to do it, this is the film for you. Otherwise, definitely don’t.… Expand

Is it a masterpiece? Hell, no. Is it a rubbish 2/10 movie as most of the “critics” would like you to believe? No again. It is a decent movie with its ups and downs, not more “stupid” than SW: The Last Jedi that the same critics seem to loveIs it a masterpiece? Hell, no. If you have Netflix subscription, please give it a try and watch it - it will not cost you anything apart from your time. I really loved the first half of the movie, the second one was somewhat weaker for me, but still ok. So if you hate it after first 30 minutes it is probably not for you.
BTW I give it 9/10 to counter-balance negative “critics” reviews - if professionals don’t have to be objective, why should I after all :-). If I were objective I would still give it something around 7-8 though...… Expand

Shadowrun, not vampire academy. The urban fantasy genre in movies and TV is saturated with badly done YA tripe. This is not that. Not perfect, but VERY solid entry in a genre which it is currently fashionable to dismiss

Exceeded expectations! I honestly think this movie would have done a lot better in cinemas instead of Netflix. It was very original, and kept me in suspense for the duration of the film. Ce film est objectivement tout à fait correct. Je l'ai trouvé innovant. L'univers "modern-fantasy" fonctionne à merveille. Les acteurs sont bons, les costumes et maquillages réussis. On ne s'y ennui pas. Gros défauts cependant: L'incohérence par rapport aux 3 assassins elfes. Ils sont capable d’éliminer en 2 minutes un gang armé jusqu'aux et une troupe d'élite de police, sans manquer le moindre tir...Et puis sans raison apparente, ils deviennent extraordinairement maladroits dès qu'ils se retrouvent face à Will SMITH et à l'"orc-flic".Ils commencent à rater tous leurs tirs face à 2 types ordinaires... Dommage, j'aurais aimé que les scénariste se creusent plus la tête pour trouver quelque chose de plus crédible pour justifier l'invincibilité de nos héros.… Expand

The Universe created would really make a good series, but instead, they released this movie, which could have been much better if just a cop movie in a different universe.

The movie is good until they introduce the main plot point, which is magic.

The magic in this movie is extremely dull, and introduced in the movie too late.

The villians say they will "revive The Dark Lord", but the villians (who are extremely dull and boring) never do so.

This is just my opinion, and what i thought about the movie when i watched it.… Expand

It was an odd mishmash of End of Watch police buddy movie and Suicide Squad fantasy, but it certainly wasn't terrible, and had several good scenes. Overall it was decently entertaining, which is more than I can say for The Last Jedi.

After reading about how poorly this movie was made and how much of a flop it was, I wasn't very surprised to find that it was much better than the reviews were admitting to. While the world is vast and leaves some questions unanswered, that by no means makes the movie hard to follow or less enjoyable to watch. The action was fantastic, the characters were portrayed very well, and the humor was spread throughout to break the tension. I could see how much older viewers who aren't accustomed to a fantasy setting might have a hard time to follow, but if you're like me and prefer the fantasy genre you will most likely enjoy watching this movie.… Expand

'Bright' was pretty bad. Not surprise to say that when you look at who directed and wrote it. Whoever says this is an important movie due to it's obvious message on racism, needs to shut up. 'Alien Nation' did it better.

Why does this movie look so ugly? It's got the same color filter as 'Suicide Squad', which is another David Ayer movie. And also 'Son of Saul', a holocaust film. So your telling me this and 'Suicide Squad' has the same color filter of a holocaust movie. Before you say anything, no it doesn't add to the experience, just makes it more dull to watch.

I'll just come out and say it - I've never liked Max Landis. I don't know the guy personally, but he always comes across as arrogant and self-centred. Any movie Landis was involved in, I usually don't like. 'Chronicle' wasn't too bad, but that was just one movie. I'm not trying to hate on him for the shake of hating, he just hasn't done anything to change my mind. He's not a very good writer. Every line of dialogue is this movie was absolutely awful that maybe re-writes isn't so bad for Landis.

Will Smith is a great actor, but isn't great of picking movie roles. I mean, he turned down 'The Matrix' and 'Django Unchained', to instead star in 'After Earth' and 'Collateral Beauty'. I hope Smith makes a come back. To be fair, even with the terrible or Oscar bait movies, I can't say he's bad in them. Same thing can be said about Joel Edgerton.

Overall rating: "It was made for the FANS, NOT the CRITICS!”… Expand

Yet that is not the case this is the whole stand-a-lone movie. I have no idea what the prophecy was or what would even be gained by fulfilling the prophecy, or what the prophecy needed in ordered to be fulfilled. Why are elves rich? They hint it is because of the wands but again no real answer. Like a TV pilot it was just a lot of open ends that if you don't think about why the world worked like it did it was a good movie.… Expand

I loved this movie. As one of the critics said, this felt like a cross between Training Day and Lord of the Rings. I think that may hurt some people, and, might this model of audivsual bussiness become usual, may cause lost of tons of cash to certain sectors of audivisual industry. May I be wrong, but right now the only reason for pro-crits being so low seems purely "political" (related to bussiness) to me.

As for the movie:

-Succesfully manages to mix modern day world with magic and fantasy. Well packed action. The movie introduces you to a whole new, solid alternative world with just sidelines and few scenes, without burdening the spectator wich "alternate history classes". It really gives the feeling that the world and background is much more developed than you see on the movie, and really feel like being a starting point to a franchise, maybe a whole TV (Netflix) series. It has the potential to become a whole new fictional universe to develop all kind of stuff, somehow like Star Wars or Lord of the Rings universe. Time will tell.… Expand

Don't listen to the dumb critics, this is a fun watch. Yeah, it's a bit ridiculous and ponderous sometimes, but it's a nice melding of traditional copy drama and Tolkien-esque fantasy.

Fun. Mixes the gritty, action police thriller with a fantasy-setting. Similar to Shadowrun to those familiar with that setting. Critics are crazy. I think they must have been paid off to write bad reviews. Great movie that was a fresh breath of air. Very rare to see something new in movies anymore. Enjoyed it more than TLJ. It's kinda like a late 90's cop movie with a Tolkien fantasy inspired setting but set in the modern world, which I found very interesting since I haven't seen it done before in films. Bright is an awesome movie. It's just as awesome as the fact that critics hate it but users love it. Hopefully, Netflix will order a second one or even a serie, and will ignore the critics.

The critics get it wrong yet again. This movie is pure entertainment. Will Smith is his typical charming self. The action scenes are impressive. Loved the concept of "orcs, elves and humans in modern day LA". Couldn't fault the art direction,The critics get it wrong yet again. This movie is pure entertainment. Critics are consistently wrong these days. I almost didn't watch this because of the stinker reviews. But Netflix already paid for so I said "what the hell". Glad I did. Hope to see more of the Bright universe.… Expand

As a long standing fanboy of shadowrunish universes, good action and Will... I loved that they managed to combine the three, Absolutely brilliant, lacking slightly in pacing a really good story though. Would love a sequel, or similar. Very good movie, I liked it a lot, they left loose ends to continue and that's good, because now I'm waiting for two, I recommend it, a lot of action, a little comedy, it shows what a magical world would look like today.

This is a really fun buddy movie that's basically set in the Shadowrun universe. If you already know what that is, you're probably going to enjoy it.
