I liked some of the Ali G Show interviews, but this movie is worse. For those of you that have no idea, this movie is like Candid Camera, the old TV show, but more boring and with more penis shots. I wish I'd done almost anything else rather than waste time watching this movie. Expand

Boring... I expected to clutch my stomach and wipe tears of laughter, instead I kept yawning and I got a headache from the jerky footage.

Dumb down a Steve Martin/ Dan Ackroyd "Wild and Crazy Guys" Saturday Nigh Live sketch from the 70s, glue a bushy moustache onto a considerably less talented British comedian, and take the whole thing on the road. The result? Dumb down a Steve Martin/ Dan Ackroyd "Wild and Crazy Guys" Saturday Nigh Live sketch from the 70s, glue a bushy moustache onto a considerably less talented British comedian, and take the whole thing on the road. The result? 'Borat'. The ultimate in edgy, cutting edge social comedy-with-a-message? Sorry, critics. Methinks you all need to get out of the house a little more. Expand

In order to reach an America that is so jaded it can only appreciate crude Jackass-like humour, Sasha Cohen has left subtle cleverness and wit (which were his distinctive forte) across the pond in favour of vulgarities that attempt to appeal In order to reach an America that is so jaded it can only appreciate crude Jackass-like humour, Sasha Cohen has left subtle cleverness and wit (which were his distinctive forte) across the pond in favour of vulgarities that attempt to appeal to masses at the lowest common denominator. This film isn't poor just for it's defiling nature, but moreso for the fact that Cohen has resorted to potty humour in order to capture attention, appeal, and market share in an America that may not appreciate his clever humour. I don't mind thought-provoking, sick, twisted, off-color....whatever you want to call it, or whatever the critics and the media are spinning this as. But, this is NONE of those, and I did not find it even remotely funny. I like I don't mind thought-provoking, sick, twisted, off-color....whatever you want to call it, or whatever the critics and the media are spinning this as. But, this is NONE of those, and I did not find it even remotely funny. I like stupid-funny and the humor definitely doesn't have to be high brow for me to appreciate it, but this was just plain BLAH. There must be a conspiracy out there w/ the critics because I simply don't understand the praise. I would've walked out, but I am an optimist and kept hoping it would turn itself around (and this was from about minute 20). But, alas, I was duped and it never happened. I've only walked out on 2 other movies in my lifetime, and I wish I woulda walked out on this one. A lot of the other audience members liked it though---I hope this says more about me being different from the mainstream, for society's sake in terms of humor. Expand

I feel about this despicable piece of liberal "satire" like what President Nixon said about "All In The Family", that it mocks good people and makes them look stupid. Sacha Barren Cohan must really hate America and our Freedom.

I simply cannot understand why this movie has been critically acclaimed. It does not make sense for me, at all. It is not an intelligent comedy. There are only a few sparse and quick, as a matter of fact, funny moments.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie seemed like they spent an afternoon writing a script. The plot about with the daughter dragged on. Once you thought a new scene was coming they could have some great opportunity for humor it was a let down. Sasha Baron Cohan’s Showtime show was much more thought out and hit the point of the times more effectively than this movie. A lot of hype for a less than mediocre film. Expand
