What a decerebrated movie. Witnessing such a high user-score is a total curse on humanity. Fortunately the critics clearly identified the boring stupidity of it all. Even at that time.

Hidden behind a surface of self-righteousness by pretending to tackle major issues like the print of humanity on Earth and global warming, 'Bio-Dome' surprisingly finds some ways to offer us overly stereotyped charatcters, terrible acting, incredibly bad 'jokes' (I almost can't qualify these lines of 'jokes') and awkward moments, superficial and objectified women, a childish plot and a messy structure, the whole surely produced by a set of people whose IQ is to be situated not far from 10. I was already able to bet on the quality of this movie from its drafty opening credits. Don't watch if you care about your mental and neural health.

The one and only positive point I found is that the soundtrack is not that bad. Well at least it kind of matches with the spirit of this thing. But that's all. And it is already being generous about it.… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Pauly struck home with this comedy gold. Steven Baldwin as a misunderstood genius speaks to the audience in a fresh innovative way. When Baldwin's character, Doyle Johnson, makes a filter it is reminiscent of the plan to destroy the asteroid in Armageddon. This plot device is one of, if not, the best deus ex machina in all of film. God himself directed and produced this movie for all of his heavenly children. Then you pick up a job lot of old VHS and find one of these films then feel a strange urge to take another look, maybe there is something you missed....

....let's be completely honest from the get-go, Pauly Shore is Marmite, hated by most. Stephen Baldwin is the brother everyone forgets. William Atherton was still dining out on Die Hard. It's all a big melting pot of facets that don't work, and they didn't in 1996.

But it does in 2018. It's a stupid film, it's a film only to be watched when you want to watch something stupid. Think of it like Wayne's World, it's a riot of stereotypical nineties grungey nonsense that you don't want to relate with but still somehow do.

We live in a world today where everything always seems so serious and everything always seems like it is beset by problems. We originally thought films like this were garbage simply because there were a lot more things that were funny in those days. It's not like that today so watch something like Bio-Dome, it's only 95 minutes of your life. You might cringe because you see a bit of yourself on the screen, but you were fun back then and I bet you are less fun now.

I honestly have no idea why this has such a high user score, unless there are a lot of stoners on here. There is no plot, the acting is abhorrent, and Shore's voice is like nails on a chalkboard. I'm not going to be the first or the last to tell you how horrible this movie. This is humanity at its lowest. With that being said, I have come up with several uses for this film: 1. With that being said, I have come up with several uses for this film: 1. If you are dating someone show him or her this movie, if they enjoy it end the relationship; 2. If you need an April Fool's prank lock your friend in a room playing Bio-Dome (actually that is probably way to cruel). Look, if the premise interests you I don't think that my review is going sway you to not watch it, but remember, you have been warned. I remember reading a positive review for Bio-Dome once and it was talking about how it is really poignant with social commentary. I'm sorry, but that had to be from a former producer. This movie is not like that at all in fact it only sends negative messages across. This film centers around two idiotic stoners who just watch TV all day, yet they have a nice house and beautiful girlfriends. Throughout the film these guys are the hero's, while the head intellectual scientist, who is only trying to do his job, turns into an insane "Heart of Darkness" esque villain. The other intellectual scientists become helpless as their years of education make them feeble to two guys who bite each others toenails. By the way they are the two who caused all the problems. When one is trying to create social commentary about the environment one should have the audience connect with what is happening. Instead we have a couple of idiots doing with the IQ of bread do all the environmental damage. Instead of having the viewer reflect his or her own actions he or she will probably think, "look its only stupid people who can hurt the environment" or "it's dumb stoners who cause all pollution" because those are the exact messages the filmmakers convey.… Expand

This movie is so terrible it is amazing. The irony is totally lost and the acting is awful, but I recommend this as a must-see for everybody, if not to enjoy it, to truly understand the epitome of a terrible film.

Yes, this movie is a comedy. But, I put it in a class of movies with the likes of Idiocracy: they aimed for laughs and ended up with a rather poignant commentary on the state of the world and associated attitudes. There are a lot of crude jokes in Bio-Dome, to be sure, but then, that's Pauly Shore's style. If you go into this movie thinking something else, you have no business critiquing movies (or any form of entertainment). I found the movie "funny enough". As for what the movie was trying to tell people, obviously the message got lost on a lot of people. Even the people that society views as degenerates can help foster change. The movie presents stoners that just want to party, but then they have a moment of clarity that allows them to see how they aren't contributing anything. Shore's speech about "now we can show the world how to fix things from where we really are" versus living in some kind of perfect world that doesn't exist made this movie AT LEAST a 5/10 on any scale. Voting it lower shows that someone was unable to see past the facade of the movie for the message. I remember someone telling me once "don't judge a book by its cover". Well, so-called professional critics, you would do well to heed that advice and rate movies more accurately and with less judgment.… Expand

I actually know nearly every line of this movie and I know other people that do too. If you take the movie for what it is (a 'stoner' comedy')...it is good. It actually has a lot going on...especially with the Faulkner I actually know nearly every line of this movie and I know other people that do too. It is just a movie about typical 'stoner' people adapting to the cultured life of scientists. They rub off on each other. Bio-Dome is something that takes a truly enlightened person to enjoy. I would say that only people who have converted to Buddhism, and then abandoned it for lack of profundity, and have become at One with the natural fractal flow of the Bio-Dome is something that takes a truly enlightened person to enjoy. Certain critics cannot judge a movie based on its merits to the people it is aimed at. In fact reading the reviews given to the movie, is looks like most of the people who reviewed it, didn't even try to look at it objectively. Off the top of my head I can think of ten movies which are far worse than biodome as movies within their genre. But whatever, it will always be one of my favourite movies.… Expand

I turned this off after two minutes and then smashed my DVD player in case someone tried to put it on again. About as watchable as "2 girls 1 cup", but less funny.

Yes, it's a lousy movie. Yes, Pauly Shore is an obscenely unfunny motherf****r who deserves to be flipping burgers somewhere in Ohio right now instead of being wealthy and famous. fantastic movie. I think it will go down in history for it's pure genius, people will be quoting "shave the pooche" for the next millennium and dancing to "you can dance" in true biodome fashion.

I can't believe the critics were so down on this movie! I mean, the scene where he goes to the cafe and shoots the cop and the gangster with the gun he finds in the toilet... oh wait, I'm thinking of 'The Godfather'. S***.

this movie is an incredible masterpiece!!!!! it's miles better then Uwe bolls "alone in the dark". it's an absolute masterpiece with amazing actors. I'd give it an 11 out of 10 really!!! i would!!! p.ez ima hjocinn mun.

Honestly, this might have been the worst excuse for a movie I've ever seen, and I've seen some pretty bad movies. We watched this movie in class one day. It was so crap I wanted to do work instead it's just 2 hours of {not funny} fart jokes which star two crap actors. Don't get me wrong I love comedy when it's funny. A wast of money and time.
