This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie got great actors who lived their roles. Some characters were wooden but the mostly ones were believable. Frank lammars played very well as the Admiral Michiel de Ruyter and you are sad when he is dying.
There are some scenes which show the civilization from this period. And these are disgusting because of the realistic props they used. When the peoples slaughtered de brothers de Witt it's very realistic showed and it can let you feel nausea.
But it's a very good movie.… Expand

A very good swashbuckling movie. Terrific naval battles, with de Ruyter winning time after time. Effective integration of models to clarify the tactics of each battle. Well played political plots in the background.
