I'm a fan of "Family Guy" and I enjoyed "Ted", but something is really wrong with this movie...it's not funny! It has a great cast that's absolutely wasted here. I just kept hoping that it would eventually become funny...but it didn't.

"A Million Ways to Die in the West" 10 Scale Rating: 1.5 (Awful) ...

The Good: I might have chuckled once or twice. Otherwise, the film's only saving grace was the supporting cast. Liam Neeson was especially strong, hamming it up as the film's antagonist.

The Bad: Hopefully, Seth MacFarlane now realizes that he just doesn't have the on-camera charisma to carry a film. In this particular vanity project, MacFarlane was unlikeable, unfunny, and even seemed out of place in his own movie. The overwhelming majority of his gags and one-liners fall flat and he comes across as a wannabe comedian in high school trying to wow his class with zingers. The film wasn't going to be great anyway, but MacFarlane makes it much MUCH worse. His schtick only seems to really work on TV's "Family Guy" (and to a MUCH lesser extent the film "Ted") and just doesn't translate well. One of the worst films of 2014.

This movie is so bad, it's good. Everything in this movie was stupid and my grown up family loved it! I had a great time with this movie, even though it's way too disgusting and racist.

Fun comedy that taunt Western archetypes and some modern ones too.
Lots of cameos, unpolitycally jockes, good costumes, Pop- culture references.
It made you laugh like a Griffin episode would do.

When I seen the trailer for this film almost 5 years ago, I remember saying to myself "That looks like the worst film ever".

This is not the worst film ever.

That still doesn't mean its particularly good.

Also, I'm pretty sure Seth MacFarlane made this film just to make a back to the future gag.

Long winded and pointless. A couple funny moments do not save this 40 minutes too long mediocre Blazing Saddles. Such a wasted cast on a waste of time.

Seth MacFarlane did his take on parodying the old western times and it turned out to be quite hilarious. I really liked the cast which included Neil Patrick Harris, Sarah Silverman, and more. There were a couple celebrity cameos that made me laugh a lot and were done so well. MacFarlane plays a cowardly frontiersman who gets courage from Charlize Theron and he has to use his skills to face her evil husband played by Liam Neeson. The humour throughout this film is hysterical and comparable to that of Seth’s other projects. It’s kind of like Family Guy set in the 1800s. A lot of it is really gross and absolutely not appropriate for kids, but it’s all just so f*cking funny. This is the best western movie there is and the critics are wrong about it. If you are a fan of Family Guy and the Ted movies, you will definitely love this! Expand

The issue with most comedies is that the trailers always include all of the amusing scenes. This movie is an exception, mostly because most of it cannot be broadcast on television. There were some excellent appearances in this, and I chuckled throughout the entire thing. If you're not a fan of MacFarlane's humour, you probably won't find this all that hilarious. Despite my high expectations, I still found this to be really enjoyable and funny. Ted was a little funnier, if I had to say something negative about it, but that's about it. Expand
