Edge MagazineSingleplayer is weak - despite well-worked tutorial and mission modes it always feels like target practice for combat with friends - and the lack of online support disappoints. But despite a potentially hazardous dimensional switch, it remains as appealing a way of antagonising your friends as ever. [Dec 2003, p.108]
-
A bit of an acquired taste. If you dig its goofy sense of humor, or if you're a fan of previous Worms games, you might find something to like once you get past the 3D-induced flaws.
-
While the fantastic Worms formula stays intact here, it becomes infinitely more difficult to gauge distances, wind, and all that in 3D. For that reason alone, I can't recommend this one over its 2D predecessors. [Apr 2004, p.116]
-
Despite its slightly aged appearance, the accessible strategy and comical violence retain most of their appeal.
-
All of the irreverent charm and style from before are still packed solidly into this title. The multiplayer is phenomenal, and Xbox Live is probably the best online play that the series has ever seen.
-
An easy going, fun game that suffers from some control issues. If aiming and movement felt a bit tighter it would be easy to recommend this game to fans of the series.
-
The bizarre weapons are a lot of fun, but with the woeful A.I. and lack of Xbox Live support, it's hardly worth it unless you are a serious fan.
