The original double pack with Jet Set Radio Future was the first Xbox game I ever owned that I got for Christmas in 2004. It was good.

The original double pack with Jet Set Radio Future was the first Xbox game I ever owned that I got for Christmas in 2004. It was good.

This was a really good Gran Turismo clone and had many flaws but could not out-rival Gran Turismo 3. I thought it was much better than the original Sega GT on the Dreamcast in terms of controls, modes, race courses and car models.

The graphics looked really impressive for the car models and the race courses. The soundtrack is good but you can use a custom soundtrack which is also good. The sound in terms of the car engine is reused for every car which is really irritating. The controls are solid. The mode selection is diverse such as Replay Mode, Chronicle Mode, Time Attack, Vs Battle, Arcade Mode and Sega Gt 2002 Mode.

The Championship Mode is exactly like GT Mode in Gran Turismo but much shorter. There is the Official Races, Event Races, Car Shop, Garage, Parts, Used Parts and Save/Load.

There is 125 cars in the game and 12 race courses. This is really disappointing compared to Gran Turismo 2 and 3. It feels like you are playing the original Gran Turismo on the Xbox.

The Official Races lasts 5 rounds and has 18 races. The Ai and difficulty is impressive up until round 4 and the last license test where it becomes really difficult and then unfair when you have to do it again a second time to beat Championship mode.

I did like the various events for Event Races like Genre 70s-90s Races, Group B Rally Race, Drag Racing, Supercar Race, One Make Race and a Snow Mountain Race. Trying to unlock the Special Cars was a nightmare and I hated the stipulation for it.

The Garage was cool as you could look at the trophies you won and pictures you took of your car in a race. You could do test runs, view your car list, sell your car and change car parts.

The Parts shop was good and most of the parts weren't that expensive and you had to unlock more by playing through Official Races. It also helps if your car needs to be repaired or if parts need to be replaced.

The Shop was also great but most of the cars were really expensive and unobtainable unless you played Event Races and Official Race and got 1st place in the races.

The main flaws are reused engine sounds, poor number of cars and race courses, difficulty and AI spikes near the end of the first playthrough and then going into the second official race playthrough and in different events in event mode.

Overall the game still somewhat holds up.

A really great racer for the Original Xbox. The gameplay is good. It isn't quite on Gran Turismo's level, but it's definitely better than other racers on the Xbox like Rallisport Challenge and Project Gotham Racing. The graphics are amazing, and are somehow still really good after almost 20 years. The career mode, however, is where this game really shines. It takes the Gran Turismo formula and...improves on it. Yes, I said it. To earn licenses, you don't have to turn corners whilst doing a handstand and performing a sacrifice to satan. Instead, all you have to do is a lap around a track in a certain amount of time. That's it. No **** Another improvement over Gran Turismo is the inclusion of a damage meter. If you hit stuff while you race, the meter goes down and you lose a bit of prize money. This adds a layer of strategy to the game and makes you race fairly. There is one bad thing about this game, however: the sound. Every engine sounds the same AND they all sound like a 50 year old hairdryer. It distracts from what is otherwise one of the best racing games out there. If you're a racing fan and you have an Original Xbox (or hell, even a 360), do yourself a favor and pick this one up. Not really good in my opinion, is way better options for racing game, I think Ford Racing 3 was way better an fun to play than this game for example.

Houston this is a Kick Ass ride! It does need on-line player support and sounds should be more realistic, a Chevelle SS 454 should not sound like four cylinder rice burner! Otherwise I give it an 8 out of 10.

It has better graphics than Gran Turismo 3, a much better audio system in D5.1, a great car selection, wonderful garage mode, chronicle is awesome, and the main mode, SImulation, is juast as good as GT3. Handling is oh so good, graphics are superb and audio is rich (and you can use your own musics too). It deserves a 10. Expand

Graphics are overrated, they are not that great for xbox standards. Sound is very good. Gameplay is solid but has many flaws. After year one which is simple, year two is 50 times harder. RENT don't buy.

Yeah its not GT3 but it is still the best sim racing game on Xbox, until Forza comes out this Fall which will hopefully be able to challenge the GT series. There are minor things I dislike in this game but most are things in GT3 I wish Sega GT 2002 had.

Great, Excellent, Fabulous... Just a few choice names to describe this wonderful game. True graphically it's no better than the Sony's infamouse GT3, (which is no bad thing) however, the gameplay is where this one wins out, much, much stronger, with far better AI. I could go on, but put in basic terms, get it, enjoy it and have fun...

Biggest my concern about this game is the graphics - so muddy, so blurry... Gameplay mechanics are the best - you race, earn money, upgrade cars, buy new ones. So simple and amazing, unfortunately many racing games developers forget about this.

I grew up playing this game, sad its not popular, but its better that way so people don't mess up this masterpiece in sequels that are milked out each year like you see now, it has a different setup that I dont see in any game and I love the music. I get happy vibes when I play the music and get memories I would recommend it.

A good racer for the Xbox, but you'd be better off buying Sega GT Online. It's basically this game with more cars and small gameplay tweaks.

This game consumed my life as a kid with a Xbox. I can still remember playing with my big green Duke. This game had great cars, beautiful graphics for the time, and a really fun campaign progression as well as fun split screen multiplayer. Such a classic Xbox game!

It's Sega's turn to jump on the Gran Turismo bandwagon and the result can best be described as "adequate". There's nothing terribly wrong with it but it's unremarkable in every department.
