SimonTJul 8, 2004Max payne has all the looks and feel of a gritty cop film and boasts the excellent 'bullet time' but falls short in length as it easily finished in a few hours. not bad could be better.

BenH.Jan 4, 2005Near perfect in most respects. Great absorbing gameplay and amazing sound (5.1 is great). Somehow blowing away hordes of grunts never gets old. Only significant disadvantage is the length, which many have mentioned - the shortness makes it better as a rental than a buy as you can easily beat this in one sitting....maybe a multiplayer option could have given it more replay value.

DexterM.Dec 9, 2003I really enjoyed it; Rockstar/Remedy rules...

JeffF.Apr 19, 2005Very short but still a great game.

PaulJul 21, 2006Some great twists and turns in the story, and a great sequal to the first. And of course, perfecting the bullet time styles established in the first game.

CodyBJun 1, 2009FAR better than dead to rights, true crime l.a., and mafia, even gta 3. Sequel to the smash hit, award-winning original, a true masterpiece of epic proportions. 6 more months till the 3rd one comes out.

BrentMJan 10, 2010Still the best game in my opinion, everything still holds up well today, better than anything ever achieved in gaming

T.U.Nov 25, 2003Shorter than I expected, you won't see too much replayability value in this game.

-
DuoNov 29, 2003I haven't finished it yet, so I'm not sure just how short it is, but it does have all the insanity you could ever ask for.

ConnorS.Nov 30, 2003This is the best game I ever played!

EricR.Dec 1, 2003More often than not, I end up not finishing a game because the game becomes repetitive, excessively difficult for the average gamer, the story fails to keep keep me interested, and the length of the game is needlessly long - progress toward the end feels like work. Max Payne 2 negates those problems and makes for a highly satisfying game.

HumbertoG.May 8, 2004It's way too cool, I loved it but, it is way too short. Bullet time was awsome!. I loved the game, rockstar made the coolest game!

UterJul 31, 2004I'm usually one to criticize games for being too short. But here I can forgive it b/c it's just so great throughout. The story is among the best I've ever encountered in a game. The environments are imaginative and often brilliant. The gameplay is just so excellent. I'd rather have 8 hours of incredible gameplay than 20 of mediocre.

OliverW.Nov 9, 2006Bad graphics, worse soundtrack for the enemies. The guys you kill do exactly the same movements and sounds. Max looks like he is 60 years old, bullet time leaves something to be desired and its very short

BundisD.Jan 19, 2004Looks awesome, plays great, impressive and immersive plot. But... WAY too short. I finished the game in 4 days. Hardly a good value for $50. The only replay value available is to play the story again on a harder difficulty. Highly impressed with the quality of the game, but sadly disappointed in the quantity.

[Anonymous]Jun 15, 2005A fine followup on the original game. The storytelling is really very strong and the action satisfying. Having played the original on the PC, I had trouble getting to grips with the pad controls, but it worked out fine in the end.

Oct 21, 2020Max Payne 2; The Fall Of Max Payne was one of my early loves. It even surpassed its predecessor in nearly every term. The graphics and sound are stunning, the gameplay is pure fun and this game has one of the most striking film-noir storylines of the gaming branch! Max Payne 2 is an influential action spectacle with an amazing but way to short story.

Feb 17, 2022Whoa, this game still holds up after almost 20 years. It's still fresh, and more entertaining than most modern open world titles loaded with tons of fetch quests. Great franchise.
-
Dec 25, 2022Answer: 75 characters is between 10 words and 19 words with spaces included in the character count. If spaces are not included in the character count, then 75 characters is between 12 words and 25 words.
-
Jun 6, 2023Now here is a really adequate story, not only one of the best love story lines in the game industry as a whole, but also better graphics and gameplay. 10/10

Xbox Nation MagazineOverwroght melodrama and third-person-persepctive gunplay make for an excellent mix. [Mar 2004, p.81]

As for its translation to Xbox, it's a revelation. Not only is it as visually faithful as anyone could reasonably expect, with no discernible compromises save for the resolution, but even the controls feel right.
-
On the first run through, chances are you'll encounter the end credits in a mere six, possibly seven, hours. Fortunately however, this shortlived interlude will be one of the most enjoyable of your gaming life.
