It is a critical error when you list a title as E for Everyone and then have poor controls. If you check almost every professional review they all contain the same thing - bad gameplay mechanics and I can confirm this as my complaint as well. Let's talk about who this game was made for and that is both retro gamers who loved frogger back in the day, or children. If you check almost every professional review they all contain the same thing - bad gameplay mechanics and I can confirm this as my complaint as well. Let's talk about who this game was made for and that is both retro gamers who loved frogger back in the day, or children. Now, if you are a retro gamer you aren't going to like the control mechanics. It is a larger problem to think children will be ok with fighting the controls as they don't know who frogger is, as it's from their parents generation. And there you have a critical flaw this game will not be suitable for either. Some games start bad but get better and unfortunately I found the controls so bad combined with the necessary needed actions that it made the game nearly unplayable. True, you can struggle and some may find it a rewarding challenge but wouldn't it be so much better to have good gameplay mechanics instead? This is a game I fear would cause your child to get OCD if allowed to play too long. Expand

  1. The gameplay mechanics of Ancient Shadow are too standard, and the experience felt un-needed, and is hard to recommend to any gamers looking for a platforming fix.

The control mechanics in the title, initially jarring and overly complicated, aren't likely to mesh well with younger players, and the die-and-retry level design can be tedious.
  3. Ancient Shadow doesn't bring anything new to the table, and, what's worse, none of the problems from the previous games have been fixed or improved.
