    I would like to start off by saying that, no matter what Moleneux says, Fable: The Lost Chapters is not an RPG (or at best, it is a very **** one). This is the first Fable game that I ever experienced and I must say I liked it a lot. It is definitely one of my most treasured games from my younger days. I say younger, I am still quite young. LOL SMILEY FACE FML LMAO et cetera. To the taskI would like to start off by saying that, no matter what Moleneux says, Fable: The Lost Chapters is not an RPG (or at best, it is a very **** one). This is the first Fable game that I ever experienced and I must say I liked it a lot. It is definitely one of my most treasured games from my younger days. I say younger, I am still quite young. LOL SMILEY FACE FML LMAO et cetera. To the task at hand; What makes Fable so great? For me, I found that the whole world was quite amusing in a childish sense and that the story was wonderfully simple yet immersive. It is true that the story is very linear and that it is your bog standard "Tragedy befalls Protagonist, Protagonist Seeks Revenge, Protagonist Realises he has a greater purpose, saves world, END" story line, but the way it is delivered is so delightfully entertaining. The choices you make along the way, don't have a massive effect on the gameworld as promised, but they still make for some good entertainment in the short term, even if it is only cosmetic. The characters throughout the game are voiced well, though a little cheesy at times; this point is mainly aimed at piss annoying villagers. I especially liked the main character. Silent as the grave. The emotions system, that is in place of any real conversation, works as the in game jester; bringing joy to the user through way of farting. It is great for a while, but it doesn't take long before it gets old. Still it works well at amusing your mates every now and then if they pop round. As I mentioned before, Fable is not an RPG and it plays best to go into it with a mindset that it is an action game. In this sense it works well, as the combat is fun enough that it doesn't get too old before the game ends, but it is simple enough that the 10 year old demographic that mainly play this game can understand it. However, it is difficult to specialise in one type of combat (either Melee, Ranged or Magic) without getting completely slaughtered by your opponents, which ruins the RPG aspect of things. Other features like marrying villagers and buying housing are all a bit blah, so they are not worth talking about. Finally, one of the main gripes that critics made sure they pointed out, was that the original game was too short. I think this problem has been well addressed with the additional content that is offered in this game. Overall, buy this game if you are looking for a good 10 to 12 hour laugh. Don't buy this game if you bought the original and still own it; instead, either rent it or sell the old version and buy this one with proceeds.… Expand

    This game is fantastic, even to this day. The combat is still solid enough to meet today's standards in well made games. There's plenty of different armor sets, and you can mix match. I played this game when it first came out, and I still play it today-- the story line is a gripping one, and lets you choose here and there what you want to do based on bad or good. I have played all the Fables, and the first is still by far the best. If you haven't played it and are skeptical on buying it, I highly recommend this game.… Expand

    Charming, fun, well-crafted open world, great atmosphere, interesting artificial intelligence and the broad spectrum that is the player controlled character is particularly intriguing. Too bad they stopped building on these algorithms in later Fable games.

    I think that they have out done themselves in this new remade Fable. Not only do they tie together loose ends from the last Fable, such as the Lady Grey Mystery, but they acually introduce characters that you've seen before but never knew who they were until they helped you out at the end. Also, they made the responses of the townspeople better, and the expressions that the Hero can I think that they have out done themselves in this new remade Fable. All in All, i give fable a 10 becasue of it's sheer 'amazing-ness' and smoother game design.… Expand

    Incontrovertibly Fable among the best RPG's this generation. I have both KOTAR's, and Jade Empire an Fable ranks respectably at number two. KOTOR 1 takes the title and Fable is a very close second.

    Looks very good, just bought it so far it has a good quality of adventure and excitment. controls are Ok but could be better.

    More of an expansion pack than anything! Im afraid that Fable bit off ten times more than it could chew with the whirlwind of RPG greatness it promised prior to release...and fell flat at Morrowinds feet after release. Its just too limiting, the whole world is just a highway from Bowerstone in the North to Twinblades camp in the south, the new areas are nothing special and the sidequests More of an expansion pack than anything! Im afraid that Fable bit off ten times more than it could chew with the whirlwind of RPG greatness it promised prior to release...and fell flat at Morrowinds feet after release. Its just too limiting, the whole world is just a highway from Bowerstone in the North to Twinblades camp in the south, the new areas are nothing special and the sidequests are more like pointless busywork to make the most of the fishbowl-like environment you feel trapped in.     After playing the same games over and over that lay on my shelf, I realized that, well, I had to get a new game. After much thought the game ended up being Fable: The Lost Chapters. I had looked Fable up and it seemed like it would deliver, so I went ahead and bought The Lost Chapters knowing extra content couldn't hurt. Now I'll admit, it took me perhaps an hour before I After playing the same games over and over that lay on my shelf, I realized that, well, I had to get a new game. After much thought the game ended up being Fable: The Lost Chapters. I had looked Fable up and it seemed like it would deliver, so I went ahead and bought The Lost Chapters knowing extra content couldn't hurt. Now I'll admit, it took me perhaps an hour before I actually really got into the game, but once I did, wow. Just wow. It completely shocked me. The game is just phenomenal in the aspect that it delivers something that I believe has declined over the past years in games, and that is simply a little thing called 'fun'. But on top of that the game also features some beautiful graphics accompanied with crisp, right-on-the-spot sound. Now I may not know a whole lot on all the promises that were made on behalf of The Lost Chapters or even Fable in general, but I must say this. With all I've been hearing, I gathered that Fable was pinned up against Morrowind, and while I truly love Morrowind (in my opinion it was better than Oblivion), I must say that with Fable, you're put right into all of the fun and action straight away while with Morrowind it takes some time and that is why many gamers going into Morrowind expecting a huge blast right away and are impatient might be turned off by the some-what slow start. No offense to Morrowind at all, but that is my opinion. Anyways I would recommend this game fully to any gamer just looking to get away and be immersed in a world much more exciting than ours. I even recommend this to the Fable veterans who never got around to buying The Lost Chapters thinking a little extra content wouldn't be worth the money, but trust me, it is. The way I see it is: you're getting to play through the original Fable which is great with a side dish of extra quests, more areas to explore, more armour and some new spells, more monsters to kill, and more weapons to kill them with. All in all I haven't picked up a game recently that has fully immersed me into the world that the game was offering until now. That game is called Fable: The Lost Chapters.… Expand

    I am not a big fan of RPGs but this a rarity. Fable is a masterpiece. I love the fact that this game gives you a choice at almost every point in the game. The Freedom! Its only week point are its annoying loading times.

    Good RPG. Even though we were lied to in the review magazines about all the things we were going to get to do in this game, it still has a lot of innovative features and a great story. I can't wait to see Fable 2 on 360.

    The lost chapters is a good expansion Fable, if you liked the original this a must have. Adds quite a bit to the game but it can leave a bit left to desire.

    The best Fable game ever made, still holds up well to this day. Basically they took the original and gave it a very nice upgrade including a new end game story. Well worth a purchase.

The lost chapters adds a bit more to the experience but the game still feels incomplete. Despite that though Fable was a great game and in many ways raised the bar for action rpgs. Unfortunately a lot of what Fable did wellFable was a ground breaking game that did a lot right. Despite that though Fable was a great game and in many ways raised the bar for action rpgs. Unfortunately a lot of what Fable did well seems to have been forgotten and in many ways that has left it as a one of a kind.

    The best part about Fable is the magic system. In my opinion this is one of the best magic systems in any game I have played. There are only 19 spells but each spell is entirely different and can be upgraded multiple time. Upgrading spells is always rewarding as it is more than just a damage boost. For example, upgrading lightning will allow you to fork lightening between multiple opponents. Increasing your assassin's rush spell will allow you to warp farther. You have complete freedom in terms of which spells you put your exp into which dramatically changes your fighting style because you can use multiple spells in conjunction. For example, if you use slow time, force push and assassins rush, you can knock your enemies into the air in slow motion and then zip between them at super speed killing them all before they know what hit them. You could also use physical shield to turn yourself temporarily invincible and then summon ghost swords to kill all your enemies while you stand among them watching. Fable made combat fun even if it wasn't a challenge. The game does an excellent job of making you feel like your power is growing as you progress through the game and by the end you feel like a total beast. Leveling up was also very intuitive because it rewarded you based on what type of style you used offering three different types of experience points. The camera in fable was also great offering full rotation but also multiple zoom levels, this allowed you to have a far better view of the field while still offering the flexibility of looking at things up close. This gameplay system should have been the pillar of the franchise that they kept refining with future games, unfortunately Fable 2 decided to change the magic system almost entirely, taking away what I consider the strongest part of the game and thus making the experience inferior overall. Too bad, more games should take a look at Fable and learn from what it did right.

    The story is not on the same level as the gameplay. It isn't the worst story but it is very generic, it's the story of the farm boy with a destiny vs the Dark lord who wants to rule the world. There are a few twists and turns but ultimately, in a game that was supposed to be all about choice I found that most of the choices you make have very little consequence. Still, the progression through the game is pretty good and the final boss battle is quite epic. It has a far more satisfying ending than Fable 2 did.

    The world of Fable is average the towns are a lot of fun and there is a lot of interaction within them. Unfortunately the world is incredibly small, every area feels very restricted. For a game that gives you so many cool abilities, it is really a shame that there is very little to explore and very few enemy types for you to test your powers against.

    While I really enjoyed the content of the game, there isn't nearly enough to do. It really is a shame because there is so much potential for awesome experiences with the gameplay systems that Fable has but it only takes about 12 hours or so to complete the story and even maxing out all stats and finding every secret you are not likely to spend more than 20 hours. There is some replay value as you can choose different combat styles and try playing good or evil but the main beats of the game remain pretty similar even if you choose a different alignment.

    The Visual Style in Fable are pretty good but the characters look quite awkward. it looks like they were modeled without proper perspective. A lot of the characters have big hands and feet. The proportions don't look quite cartoony or realistic, it was an odd style choice. Almost everything else in the game looks quite good though, the buildings have an appealing story book style and every weapon looks unique. The spells also look quite cool, especially for the time that they came out.

    The sound design is good all around. The voice acting was good for its time and the sound effects are all pretty good. The music is nothing amazing but it is suitable and distinct. I never felt that the music detracted from the experience. While there is nothing really bad about the sound, it doesn't stand out as exception either.

    Overall, I think Fable is a great game that should be experienced. I really wish more game studios would look back at Fable and learn from its successes instead of its failures.

    Replaying Fable: The Lost Chapters on the original Xbox was okay I guess. I wanted to try something different and play as an evil wizard instead of my normal neutral archer build and there are just so many bosses that are like impossible or damn near to beat with just spells and nothing else. It's not a bad game but after beating it so many times and becoming frustrated so many times with mechanics that are **** and or just don’t work properly it makes me upset to say that this game is just really really **** overrated.

    I do own the PC version and I love it and the controls are so much better but it doesn’t change the things that just don’t work and that are broken as hell. I love the music, I love the world, the characters but this game just feels like a fancy birthday cake that looks like it’ll taste amazing but then you bite into it and get a mouth full of rocks. I’ve heard a lot of gripes about Fable II but I think it's a superior game. Also, the match game in Bowerstone is the best.    … Expand
