    World of Tanks: HEAT isn’t the worst addition to the hero shooter genre. It does fill a niche in the tank battle hero genre; a genre that doesn’t have a ton of competition. But the grind to fully experience things, and the rigid matchmaking systems in place, are major turn-offs.

    World of Tanks: Heat fundamentally works, but it doesn't leave much of an impression, has a limited array of content currently, and is weighed down by the typical live-service design choices that have made this section of the game industry the most tiresome and indefensible of them all. But hey, it's free-to-play so give it a go and see what you think at the end of the day.

    World of Tanks: HEAT is an interesting experiment that attempts to modernize a classic formula by incorporating elements typical of hero shooters and objective-based games. Its excellent technical execution, more dynamic pace, and some clever design ideas make for an entertaining experience during the first few hours. However, it also gives the impression of being a project that still needs time to find its identity.

From the cockpit of our tank, we’ll face off against other players in a series of missions and maps designed for frenetic, fast-paced combat. Its new agents, with different classes and abilities, and the inclusion of 15 tanks offer a fresh take that improves on the traditional formula without losing sight of what matters most: the tanks. Rounding out the package are 8 maps and 4 game modes that, once you get the hang of them, make for an engaging and highly entertaining experience.
