    2023 has been a unique year in the games industry, with several high-quality releases, offering a variety of options for all tastes. And even in the strategy genre, we have seen excellent games, like, for example, Aliens: Dark Descent. However, even among several good options, War Mongrels manages to offer a solid experience for those who are willing to give the work a chance.

    There is a good game, a compelling game even, fighting to get out of War Mongrels, but it is buried under a pile of duff controls and absurd difficulty.

    War Mongrels is a RTS with a gritty story. Moreover, it has an interesting viewpoint and some grim and hard-hitting cinematic. However, the clunky controls and bugs undermine its potential.

    With this many clumsy design decisions it is a miracle this game made it past pre-production. I will never look down on anyone that endorses playtesting again.
