Secrets upon secrets upon secrets, clues hidden in margin notes, gorgeous graphics, soothing music… and it can either be very challenging or very relaxing, depending on whether you enable damage.     Als Erstes muss ich sagen, ich bewerte nur sehr selten mit der vollen Punktzahl, aber dieses Spiel ist einfach nur herausragend, fantastisch, genial...es gibt zu wenige Worte, wie mich dieses Spiel begeistert.

    Apparently people are review-bombing the game because it's a "ripoff" of Zelda which is ridiculous. Should all FPS games be ridiculed because they're ripoffs of Wolfenstein 3D? Give me a break. This game is also being criticized for being too hard by people who apparently totally missed that it even has a built-in god mode for people who struggle with it.     Tunic is a fun little game that will immediately remind you of classic Zelda games on the Nes and Snes consoles. The game is just a joy to play for both young and old. If you are one of those that enjoy classic Zelda type gameplay with a cute little fox, the go ahead and give Tunic a try.

    Amazing presentation and sense of adventure. One of the best views and location I've seen in video games, achieved with tasteful, minimalistic graphics. Game is little difficult in the begining, but gets much easier once you figure it out and upgrage your fox.     Incredible level design. Meta integration of a "game manual" within the game that rewards players who pay attention to every detail. Gorgeous and fitting art style. Magical score that fits the mood and atmosphere of the current setting or game world. Bonus points for a 'No Fail Mode' (God Mode) that doesn't disable achievements. Thanks for launching on Xbox Game Pass!

    This game surprised me so much, I should've played it earlyer. Tunic kinda merge aspects from souls-like games to a Zelda. It's challenging and incentives you to explore the world. Looks just amazing!! 10/10 for me!!!

    Such an amazing game, a great homage to Zelda yet doing its own thing. It is challenging but not impossible. The soundtrack is its own character and sets the atmosphere. Love all the secrets tucked in throughout the world. You can can feel the love that went into this congrats to the team.

    This is a magnificent game. It looks great, the musical score is well suited for long hours of play and is gentle and easy to listen to (sounds great too). The combat is very difficult as it requires management of stamina health and timing of attacks….in this respect it feels very different to the legend of Zelda (which it obviously looks like).

    I LOVE the art style in this game. Downloaded for my kids but ended up playing all the way through on my own as well! Really makes you think about what you're doing. I also thoroughly enjoyed the music. It just really all fits well together. Highly recommend.

    Given this is an indie game, its an amazing achievement. An excellent hybrid of zelda and souls. Its a tough game, but also has great accessibility options. Would highly recommend, don't let the idiots review bombing this title result in you missing out on this little gem.

    The game is a work of art. Doesn't even look like an indie experience as it's execution is perfectly done. Gameplay is smooth and the secrets unraveling is just so rewarding it makes me want to play the whole day, nonstop!

    Il est beau, bien animée (je regrette quelques freezes mais sinon top), très belle bande son (surtout faite le au casque, vous entendrez vraiment toutes les subtilités de l'environnement), très long pour un jeu indé de ce style, des tonnes de trucs cachés, bref, difficile de lui trouver des défauts.
    Attention, je l'ai fini avec difficulté et visiblement avec la mauvaise fin. Du coup, je cherche les quelques trésors qu'il doit me manquer pour la vraie fin du jeu.

    Autre élément à prendre en compte, vous ne serez jamais pris par la main. A vous d'explorer, chercher, comprendre l'univers et comment trouver les trésors. C'est un jeu qui se savoure, s'analyse, et tout devient clair à chaque étape. Un must

    Very good Zelda light game I love how they make you figure out the foreign language and give you a sense of discovery the lock on system could be a little better a little more variety of weapons but it's an amazing game if you are into Zelda or deaths door like games! I highly recommend gorgeous art style!

    This game has so many secrets hidden which you do not see at first. It felt best to play when you NOT use google or guides. It can be hard sometimes to figure out... but I had most fun scratching my head over the manual pages and try out when i thought i have found a hint. And always when I thought "oh that was not that hard" i realize that was only one part of the solution and i still need to think further.

    If you want to reach all the secrets, I recommend to have paper and pencil ready. You can play through it without many of the difficult puzzles. But if you want to go for everything yourself this needs time and is a great challenge. It is surprising how late i am in the game and still find out new mechanics. Might not be for everyone though.    … Expand

    I am not normally a fan of isometric view games but Tunic really captured me. It's so much fun. If it wasn't for Xbox Game Pass I never would have given this game a try, but I'm glad I did because I am absolutely hooked!

    A charming indie game, combining both The Legend of Zelda and a few souls like elements to create a cute little world that anyone can beat thanks to the accessibility options available from the start. The art direction and general feel of the game are top notch for me as well, and while the game can be tough at times, it feels like a rewarding journey throughout.

The controls are good, the "manual" is a unique design that I haven't seen in any other game, the graphics are good for what it is. The gameplay loop is interesting and it is fun enough that I lost 6 hours testing it after I installed it on the grandkids PCs for when they come over this weekend. Unlike what some others have said, the difficulty is on par with A Link to the Past, once you get the sword anyway (first hour or so in). Again, unlike some others, I'm at the end of the game and have only been significantly stuck once. The developer is a genius and a gift to gaming.     Excellent game by a solo developer. Often achieves the quality you’d find in a legend of Zelda game made by a team of hundreds of people. The challenges are tough but meaningful and the progression elements and puzzle solving is interesting and reward exploration. The art style is great, clean, readable, cute, and overall I had an outstanding time playing this game.

    This game is awesome. It has a Zelda/Dark Souls vibe to it. in the end it takes a turn towards Sci-fi and twist into its own thing. The collections and the book guide build by collecting pages is awesome. Plenty of end game content as well with multiple endings. I cannot believe this was made by one person. Also the music is amazing.

    Its more a 8,5-9/10 game, but it deserves a better Meta Critic rating in general.
    I really enjoy the game. It looks great and has a nice level design.

    I love it. It takes the best aspects of classic Zelda, and does something spiritual with it. All this while hiding a massive world in plain sight.

    This was my top indie game of the year. Flat out. Mixing souls games and Zelda in a world that is so unassuming and charming but hides so many secrets. Has such rewarding gameplay and a surprisingly emotional story. Amazing game.

    Don't let these review bombers fool you. This game is great. Combat is challenging, great visuals, and the idea to find the game box manual in game one page at a time? Chef kiss. I don't know if I like that everything is in an indiscernible language or not yet but Ill let you know. 9/10

    A beautiful game that draws you in and lets you puzzle out what's going on with gently guiding level design and dozens of hidden secrets. The depth of this game is incredible, the combat challenging and overall it was a joy to play.

    Beautiful game. Challenging, sometimes very difficult, but also very rewarding. The art is beautiful, the way of playing and discovering how to play (and the story itself) is very original. One of my favorite games ever, without a doubt.

Cyptic achievements (you have to learn to interpret the lines to execute them and to know where to execute them). Manual pages are collectibles that are useful for something. It's on Xbox Game Pass, so try it out without fear.

    The bad:
    Very short. Difficult achievements. After exploring everything in a first session and knowing certain secrets, there is no more motivation than completing the Achievements and still thinking about it. The bosses are brutal. Difficult and cryptic achievements to get inconsequential and useless trophies.

    Lo Meh!:
    The manual gives you some brutal spoilers, but you don't understand them or you're not looking at it right. Foxy Zelda/Furry Zelda starts like that in Zelda Like, but as you progress and experiment you see that it is much more than Zelda, becoming a unique platformer, a puzzle game or a Boss Rush. No matter what version of the game you've played previously, it will show you that there is much more under that cover of Zorro Zelda (becoming Fez or Tron or with references to FF7).    … Expand

    Fun game, brings me back to my childhood with the graphical style somewhat like zelda a link to the past. Tons of secrets and can be challenging, make sure you read the pages of the manual you find within the game. Free on gamepass so give it a go.

    I never played zelda and I just recently get into some souls like games.

    For the souls like aspect of the game I can just say that its a hard game where you need to block and roll to survive. Besides that it has the same sort of level design where you find new shortcuts and ways to traverse the world.     The way how the game explains everything to you the player was by a guide book where you will find pages for. This is also the only way how to figure out where to go and its amazing. It leaves a mystery for the player and something the player can discover by just reading it. That is also where the game shines the most as it does not want to explain things but you need to find the way yourself.

    9/10 for this unique little game and do not believe what the people here say with a 1/10 as that is certainly not the case.    … Expand

It lets me feel like I'm outwitting the game, while beneath the surface the game is quietly rooting for me to succeed. Each obscure clue and baffling moment serves as an opportunity for a gratifying epiphany. If you are like me and you vibe with that sort of thing, I think that Tunic will be an unforgettable experience for you. It is a game that truly transcends the sum of its parts.

    The combat is difficult and similar to Dark Souls, which isn't my preference. However, it could be argued that this aspect of the game is necessary for the game's ultimate payoff. And there is always the No Damage mode to fall back on, if you need help getting past a particularly difficult part. However, I would advise viewing the difficult combat as its own sort of puzzle. Survival is often barely attainable, so you do need to exercise some thought and technique in order to persevere until the next checkpoint. That said, if you simply hate the idea of combat there is still plenty of game for you here even without it, but it will be a fundamentally different experience if you choose to negate the combat entirely.

    Tonally speaking, the cute fox is a red herring. The mood of this game is truly not so pleasant beneath the surface. Again, this isn't my preference (I wish Tunic were more of the “enchantingly beautiful” sort of mysterious, versus the creepy and foreboding kind, which I would say it mostly is).

    It is best to go into this game completely blind. I saw someone else compare it to Outer Wilds in that way, and I think they are right. Don't look up videos. Don't look up the game mechanics. Don't look up anything. Even reading these reviews is a big risk. Like I honestly wish I could be more specific in this review, but it's better that I'm not, for the sake of the prospective players who are reading these. Nothing is incidental and everything is a part of the mystery. Even a small detail can wind up being a spoiler.

    If you are familiar with Zelda games, that will give you a good background for comprehending Tunic. But don't make the mistake of thinking this is merely a fox-themed Zelda game. Zelda may be the soil from which it sprung, but Tunic is its own weird and cryptic plant.    … Expand

    I typically do not like souls types of games…but tunic may have changed that for me. I got lost in the world and all of its secrets that lies within it. You can tell that a lot of love went into this game. Andrew Shouldice really did an outstanding job along with the smallest team ever. Also, One of the most ingenious ways to use a game guide/book.

    The style, design, and implementation of the developers vision was all beautifully done. Collecting pages to build out the manual for maps, clues, and hints on where to go and how to play was wonderfully done. The combat was decent even if the attack and dodge animations ended up as a clunky combination that I never really got the hang of.

    This game takes me back to my childhood playing the Legend of Zelda. Beautiful graphics and smooth gameplay. The bosses can be really tough but fair. I like alot about this game but I don't care for the cryptic language. Other than that though it's a gem and well worth your time.

    Fantastic puzzler its tough but not too tough nemy design is great the controls feel good. The only thing is that the save point statues are little far apart and sometimes you're running long distances just to die and run them again

    **** metacritic, I was writing a ****ingly big review and suddenly I lost all of it. Short review is: the game is difficult/hard in a satisfying way (reminder that it is a Souls like). Tunic does bring much exploration aspects from Botw, but that's not a bad thing at all. I highly recomend anyone with Xbox game pass tô try out Tunic!

There were only 2 issues I encountered and both were noticeable at the last portion of the game. First was the slow opening of the Instruction Manual, and there was a glitch where you roll to a specific floor then you suddenly clipFinished the game yesterday on Xbox and I had a lot of fun!     I can guarantee hardcore gamers a right challenge if they try figure out the path to progress by just utilizing the in-game book which you build up by collecting the pages throughout the world. I however found the clues and hints too daunting when trying to figure out how to get the some areas and had a youtube stream open next to me to find the way forward.

    I kid you not.....you could literally play this game without ever know how to find your sword and shield...no guidance or hints...after about 2 hours of fumbling about with a wooden stick I had to go to youtube for help on getting my sword and shield.

    Use your shield...it is the pathway to winning most boss fights, especially the final one. The shield is immensely powerful and can tank almost all blows.

    Probably one of the hardest games I have ever encountered, both when it comes to combat and totally cryptic secrets/puzzles. If you're a fan of Dark Souls and the like, you're probably going to enjoy the intense challenge with very few checkpoints, but if you're more of a Zelda fan (like myself), prepare to get your ass absolutely handed to you. It wasn't too long until I had to use NoProbably one of the hardest games I have ever encountered, both when it comes to combat and totally cryptic secrets/puzzles. If you're a fan of Dark Souls and the like, you're probably going to enjoy the intense challenge with very few checkpoints, but if you're more of a Zelda fan (like myself), prepare to get your ass absolutely handed to you. It wasn't too long until I had to use No Fail Mode, and thank god for its existence, otherwise I would've probably never finished this beautiful and intricate game. Although what I would have much preferred would have been some more difficulty options between "mind-numbingly hard" and "Kirby's Epic Yarn".

    But. nevertheless, exploring Tunic's fascinating world and uncovering its secrets was still a lot of fun, even with the challenge of combat completely removed. The concept of the manual is very intriguing and, if you like a good head-scratcher, you'll have something to chew on for days to come. Personally, I did most of the post-game stuff via guides, as I lacked the patience and keen perception needed to collect everything just from the cryptic hints in the manual alone.    … Expand

    Tunic is one of those games that won’t let you go until you see the credits rolling. It’s insane, what Andrew Shouldice and his small team came up with and how much lifeblood was poured into this action adventure. Definitely an indie title you should not miss.
