The medium is as advertised, the delivered on a great story, one that starts out slow while you adjust to the game and how it works and starts to thicken its plot with each new experience. The pacing and cinematic direction are great, the art style is absolutely its standout feature. (This all going off with acceptance that its a set camera game with essentially no combat) which is fine because its advertised as such, silent hill fans will get to its that scratch! The reason its not a 10/10 is because they could have leaned into puzzles and combat a bit more, and it was a bit lack luster compared to big AAA games, but amazing for what it is! Bloober team should be very proud!… Expand

    Great game, great story, amazing music. Bloober team has grown a lot. Piccolo capolavoro. Horror old school, con telecamera semi fissa. Bisogna abituarsi se si è nuovi al genere, ma non è assolutamente un difetto. No jumpscare, tutto passa tramite ambientazione e musiche. Menzione d'onore alla colonna sonora :superba.     El juego es muy bueno, tanto en su temática, como en implementar algo nuevo, una historia atrapante, que si bien no esta a la altura de los silent hill, es muy buena, sus mecánicas de juego son algo a lo clásico, lo cual me gustó mucho. Muy buen juego, recomendado 10/10

    Xbox nos sorprende con una joya dentro de su catálogo, adentrándose en el suspenso, drama y terror con su nuevo juego, disfrute mucho adentrándome en el universo del juego, es un juego que vale la pena jugar

    Прошел игру очень быстро, так как не мог оторваться. Приятно было наблюдать за местами в которых лично я бывал) Первое о чем подумал после прохождения, хочу следующею часть) Из плюсов:
    Отличный сюжет
    Жуткая атмосфера Легкий и приятный саундтрек Минус один: Графика    Прошел игру очень быстро, так как не мог оторваться. Приятно было наблюдать за местами в которых лично я бывал) Первое о чем подумал после прохождения, хочу следующею часть) Из плюсов:

    Hay peores juegos mejor calificados... Dejemos ya de meternos unos con otros y disfrutemos de los juegos sean de la plataforma que sean.

    I haven't fully beaten the game yet but what i have played do far is rather intense great puzzle solving and jump scare moments. Im not one to get those jump scares but this game caught me a couple of times so far

    Better than Edith Finch, which I think is the gold standard for adventure/puzzle games. Great aesthetic, soundscape and movement - worth the extra $.

    Excellent story and graphics. Gameplay is decent for this kind of games, but sound design was phenomenal. Even some technical issues like occasional stutter and frame drops didn’t hurt the overall experiance. Great work Bloober team!

    If you are a casual gamer, than maybe you should check out some Videos first. This game looks like a Dream come true but plays like an old Survival Horror game from the 90's. It starts slow but gets better and better. It has some realy disturbing moments and a real good story and good puzzle solving. I had around 10hours for the playthrough and never used a walkthrough. 10 Hours is longIf you are a casual gamer, than maybe you should check out some Videos first. This game looks like a Dream come true but plays like an old Survival Horror game from the 90's. It starts slow but gets better and better. It has some realy disturbing moments and a real good story and good puzzle solving. I had around 10hours for the playthrough and never used a walkthrough. 10 Hours is long for a 90's Horror Game when you keep in Mind that the first RE had around 4hours gameplay so its enough and it doesn't streches the gameplay to get boring. I also loved to see the return of the fix camera it just makes the game much more intense. Play it if you got the chance!… Expand

    This is a game CLEARLY made with passion and love. The story is awesome. The writing and voice acting is wonderful. The implementation of the protagonist's "split" is super rad. Seriously, the way you simultaneously interact with two different worlds is refreshingly unique. One of the coolest aspects of the dual screen was seeing the same scene    I HIGHLY recommend playing The Medium.

    This is a game CLEARLY made with passion and love.

    The story is awesome. The writing and voice acting is wonderful. The implementation of the protagonist's "split" is super rad. Seriously, the way you simultaneously interact with two different worlds is refreshingly unique. One of the coolest aspects of the dual screen was seeing the same scene play out from different angles, with differing emphasis on the environmental details and characters within each screen during cutscenes. Freaking brilliant.

    Watched the trailer before, and knows it is a dual world game, around 1/3 of game time in dual worlds, with my xgpu entered the game( xbox version) when released. The game developer located in Poland, the country which in the middle of Germany and sovit unit, much suffer due to its geology location, so the game more or less mapping the history, to my understanding, the    spoiler ahead!!

The end besides the lake is some like COD cold war the end, picture black, gun shot, drop into lake, leaving some imaging space, maybe a sequel folders has setup.     … Expand

    The game is very good, it has a very intriguing story with a bit of horror. Here you will not find a Resident Evil full of bullets but an essence of Silent Hill. The game tends to be a bit addicting if you like the genre. It has the odd technical flaw but it has beautiful graphics for your small budget. I hope to see The Medium 2. Thanks Bloober Team.

    Me gustó! Me sorprendió para bien el juego en general la verdad , cuando lo vi en los primeros trailers me dio muy mala espina la verdad ... Una vez empiezas a jugar te engancha y sin tener que pegar un tiro a nada te hace pasar muy buenos ratos .

    Um jogo que te prende e supera as suas expectativas inicias (negativas). Logo de inicio o jogo desperta uma certa estranheza por conta de sua mecânica na movimentação de seu personagem, o qual se assemelha muito as franquias de jogos antigos do mesmo gênero, inicialmente isso é um ponto negativo, porém, aos poucos você vai se envolvendo com a história do jogo, e isso acaba extinguindo essaUm jogo que te prende e supera as suas expectativas inicias (negativas). Logo de inicio o jogo desperta uma certa estranheza por conta de sua mecânica na movimentação de seu personagem, o qual se assemelha muito as franquias de jogos antigos do mesmo gênero, inicialmente isso é um ponto negativo, porém, aos poucos você vai se envolvendo com a história do jogo, e isso acaba extinguindo essa dificuldade de "aceitação" com a sua mecânica (isso também vai para a ideia de jogar entre dois mundos, eu terminei o jogo achando essa implementação de jogar entre os dois mundos como algo fantástico, algo que eu não achava inicialmente). Agora vamos para o ponto negativo: Falta otimização, durante o jogo você percebe erros de renderização, quedas de frames em alguns cenários, e as vezes aparece pequenas partículas coloridas durante o jogo (não com tanta frequência quanto os dois primeiros itens citados), no geral, um polimento faria bem para o The Medium. Esse jogo merece uma nota 85~87, não é excelente, porém não é horrível como alguns comentaram por aqui, apesar de seus pontos negativos, não merece nota negativa e muito menos nota zero.… Expand

    By far the best game ever released by Bloober team. Great and emotional story with opressing atmosphere. Good graphics, great voice acting and simple but clever puzzles. Overall a great experience and a must play for those who have game pass.

    I absolutely loved it. It has some issues, but nothing gamebreaking, people are below idiots who says its worse than Cyberpunk.

    Its a very, very adult title. Its not really scary or anything, but it tells you stories in a way which is not easy to digest. Definetly recommend it to anyone on GamePass.

    EDIT: Game is a solid 10/8. Im giving it 10 because of the 10/0 trolls.

    Hearkens back to the 3rd person horror of the late 90s-early 2000s (like Silent Hill 1/2/3/4) but The Medium also manages to find it's own niche and is successful in doing so.

    Come for the genre. Stay for the story. I’d wanted to play an old school tank controls game but the Cold War setting is put to magnificent use. It’s horrifying and heartbreaking at the same time. Uncovering what lies at the heart of this tragedy is what kept me going. It’s a shame that reviews from both users and journos completely ignore just how good the story is. If you have an interestCome for the genre. Stay for the story. I’d wanted to play an old school tank controls game but the Cold War setting is put to magnificent use.     Sehr schöne Umgebungsgrafik, auch die Charaktermodelle sind sehr gut, nur bei den Gesichtern schwächelt es. Gameplay ist solide, bekommt von mir aber Abzug wegen der Steuerung...ist nicht schlecht, aber auch nucht besonders gut

    Jogo com proposta diferenciada, que realmente tem uma história densa que nos faz refletir. A parte técnica é um espetáculo, ter dois mundos renderizados ao mesmo tempo, além dos puzzles serem muito bons...caramba! Parabéns a Bloober Team por fazer um excelente game! Eu adorei!     Although I've played all of bloober teams since layers of fear I haven't been a big fan of their work. Generally I find their games get a little repetitive after a while and I encounter issues like annoying chase scenes.

    I went in to the medium with low expectations but I have to say this is a big improvement. It's visually their most impressive game. The camera angles are a work of art. It takes control away from the games and makes you vulnerable at times. The frame rate pacing used to cause some stuttering issues, but this has been patched now.In the same way as Ghost of Tsushima gave us the Assassins Creed we were all waiting for, The Medium gives us the Silent Hill that next and even pre gen horror games didn't want to give us.     É verdade que o jogo tem algumas falhas mas tem muitas qualidades também, a história prendeu-me de início ao fim,os puzzles não são muito difíceis mas também não são super fáceis. O ambiente do jogo é muito bom, gosto da câmera, faz lembrar jogos clássicos. Acho que se adicionassem combates, mesmo que algo simples, e mais algum suspanse, algo que nos fizesse dar alguns saltos da cadeiraÉ verdade que o jogo tem algumas falhas mas tem muitas qualidades também, a história prendeu-me de início ao fim,os puzzles não são muito difíceis mas também não são super fáceis. O ambiente do jogo é muito bom, gosto da câmera, faz lembrar jogos clássicos. Acho que se adicionassem combates, mesmo que algo simples, e mais algum suspanse, algo que nos fizesse dar alguns saltos da cadeira tornariam o jogo num nível superior.     Very short. There is no way to expand the story of this game in this location. When you finish it and get the collectibles there are no more. Feels like the other Bloober Team games (The Observer, Blair Witch, ...) with classic gameplay of point and click games and survival horror from the 90's.

    The Meh!:
    If this game were called Silent Hill or were presented by some guru of video games it would be a festival of 10. We will have to wait to see what Bloober Team can do with more workers and budget    … Expand

    The Medium is without a doubt one of the best horror games I've ever played. In this chilling and mysterious journey, you explore an abandoned resort to learn not only what caused the massacre in the past, but also the lost memories of your own past. Along the way you encounter spirits, demons, and so much more as you try to solve the mysteries of the world and survive it's horrors. WhatThe Medium is without a doubt one of the best horror games I've ever played. In this chilling and mysterious journey, you explore an abandoned resort to learn not only what caused the massacre in the past, but also the lost memories of your own past. Along the way you encounter spirits, demons, and so much more as you try to solve the mysteries of the world and survive it's horrors. What makes this game unique is the screen often splits into two as you're playing allowing you to control Marianne in both the real world and the purgatory-like world, which adds a very unique element unlike any game I've ever played. The music in this game, created by the Silent Hill composer, is also absolutely wonderful and really helps carry the journey from beginning to end. If I have only one complaint it's that the character models sometimes load a little oddly which can really break immersion, but this is a minor gripe of a beautiful game.     I'm not good with horror games but wanted to give this a try and can say that it's a very good game. It's very immersive, the gameplay and soundtrack are excellent. The split screen feature is very fun and strange but the whole game stays immersive and cinematic no matter what happens. The character movement can be a bit rough at times but it's doesn't distract you from the game.

    A very good game, history feels like it has much more to be developed, but it's excellent and it has an essence to old psychological terror games. You have to improve the gameplay, but it serves very well in what you want to play as a game. Very recommendable.

    Best game from Bloober team till now, the world is so detailed, sounds and music are so immpresive, and the story they really took care in writing it when you get hooked you can't stop. I enjoyed every part of the story and I hope there is a part 2.

    Great story telling with a varied puzzle like game play combined with a walking simulator of sorts. The game catches you and doesn't let you out until the whole story is told, the only thing its letting it back is the lack cluster game play mechanics

    Those saying it has past gen graphics obviously played this game only on YouTube. Graphics are stunning and the only small isseu is with characters. Rest of the game is great. The game is fairly easy and could be more complicated but my vote goes for emotions during gameplay and i had best fun with the game in a long time. The game deserves second part.

    A very pleasant game. All the negative reviews are from negative people. It's not Silent Hill, it's not horror, it's not action. It's an atmospheric narrative adventure. A sequel is essential.

    It took me 7 1/2 hours for medium and achieved 840 gamerscore. An entertaining horror story game that was told in a terrific way and that just lacked the threat of its horror element.

    story

    It was exciting, thrilling and well staged. The cut scenes, echoes, collectibles tell the intense ride of the medium Marianne. At no point did I feel any length in the game, on the contrary, you were actually always curious to see how it would go on. The story of Marianne and the uncovering of the past was a success from start to finish.

    While playing, you are constantly encouraged to make assumptions and interpret in order to recognize the picture that is emerging.
    Spoiler:
    The parentheses at the end are also very well interwoven for me. It all starts with a dead girl and that's how it ends? It remains to be seen whether Marianne killed herself or Lilly. I guess the former.

    Difficult topics are also addressed, where with some one can only guess what happened.

    Gameplay

    If you know the games from BlooperTeam, you know that it is probably a walking simulator. But the great thing about it all is the dual gameplay. That not only has to serve as a pure puzzle-solving aspect, but also shows a great staged world and is part of the protagonist. The creativity of the scenery really amazed me.

    The second memory from Thomas (Henry) was really cool, with the files etc., staged
    You could also interact differently in both worlds and the simultaneous rendering of the worlds was amazing.

    In terms of horror, the game could have gone better, it was way too easy to avoid the monster. You didn't even have to make an effort. The puzzles weren't really difficult either, but I don't think that's bad.

    Graphics / performance

    The Medium looks terrific in places, which is mainly due to the already mentioned very creative expression in its scenery. The two rendered worlds have very beautiful settings and yes, the demon world has a strange aesthetic in it too. Sometimes the game is staged in a pretty disgusting way (cutting skin).

    Much, Much praise for the game. But now I have to leave something out on the technology. I had to stop the game on my PC (this is not a bad PC) because it did not run smoothly at all. I've tried everything, but no chance to get the game to work properly. Unfortunately, I don't know why.

    Even on the Series X there were occasional FPS stutters, but it remained largely stable here. Despite all that, you always had such an uneven feeling when it came to the technology and that pulled me a bit out of the very dense atmosphere. I now have to look again in retrospect to see if there are better settings or something similar, but the problems were also reported in large numbers on Reddit and Co.

    Conclusion

    For me a terrific "horror" story, for me other story elements were much more intense than the horror aspect, which looks beautiful and is pleasantly entertaining. Unfortunately the technology weakens, therefore 9/10 skin flaps.    … Expand

The music is PHENOMENAL, as can be expected. The graphics, only slightly above par, with poorly utilized RT and some bad models and lip-sync but a whole lot of effort put in for most of the game worlds design. The Medium feels like a tribute to horror games from the 90s and I AM ALL ABOUT THAT. You really can't go past what is great value for a Game Pass title. Just wanted more, expected better and felt let down by how short the game is. Still really impressed though, would recommend a play regardless.     Very much Enjoyed my experience with the medium it gave me a blast of nostalgia with some silent Hill vibes it’s not without floors but nothing a patch couldn’t fix I think a solid attempt to this sort of thing

    A truly beautiful game. From the atmospheric visuals to the haunting soundtrack everything about this game was done with heart. Bloober is known as a great studio for their genre titles and has done a great job with The Medium.

The voice actors all do a stellar job in portraying their characters and conveying the varying emotions that drive the story. The major selling point of The Medium, that being the split world is beautifully portrayed. Both the real and spirit world are stunning to look at, as if they were taken straight from the paintings of Zdzislaw Beksinski. There are however some moments in the game where textures take too long to load that did take me out of the experience slightly but this can be excused as the game is also trying to render two synced worlds at once. Another immersion breaker but one that can also be overlooked is the facial animations that do appear quite stiff in most circumstances, this is however a AA game so I can understand. Probably the biggest letdown for me was the gameplay side of things. I would've appreciated at least a little bit of combat and more interaction with the world. There are moments throughout that just had me running back and forth that would have been enriched further with some combat, possibly against smaller enemy types, but this is just my opinion. To end on a more positive note, I must say another big standout of the game was the music and sound design. It managed to be both haunting and emotional, it did after all come from a legendary composer. Overall, The Medium pleasantly surprised me and I hope that this victory from Bloober Team means that they aren't done with the world of The Medium. There's so much potential for a sequel that I hope is coming.… Expand

    Un buen juego, no excelente pero si está "disfrutable" los puntos negativos son: Dura muy poco los modelos de los personajes parecen maniquíes (aunque eso se entiende ya que es un AA) y la caída de FPS no sucede mucho pero no es un punto a favor, ya de ahí el juego es hermoso y tiene mejor narrativa que cierto juego de Zombies...

    The game has good story and interesting plot, the visuals in this game are great and the camera angles are amazing it gets you in the mood of the game also the sound track is solid, the bad side of the game is that its short i took me around 6 hours to finish the game and i wish we got more information about the "other side"

    Despite clunky animations, repetitive gameplay and some technical issues with the Xbox Series X version, I completed The Medium twice. Its dual-reality design, art direction and brilliant soundtrack often made me stop to take in a view or relish the music. Its mature story and atmosphere reminiscent of Silent Hill helped a lot too. Without hiding where it comes from, it's an experience horror fans won't want to miss, no matter how short. The duality approach is interesting and has enormous potential. I hope that the Bloober Team will get to work on it again and develop it more in-depth.
