The fact that only .8% of the players completed this fairly short game says it all, avoid.

Quite enjoyed this game until the hitting shark game, the controls are just not made for something like that, and it wasn't fun, so I quit. Edit: finished it and I really wished I hadn't. The AI is so broken that on Medium difficulty the opponent's goalie is impossible to beat, but even a maxed

Edit: finished it and I really wished I hadn't. The AI is so broken that on Medium difficulty the opponent's goalie is impossible to beat, but even a maxed out own goalie is still crap. The opponent keeps scoring from a long range, while I can't even score from closeby with a max-power. That's not fun and challenging, that's broken. On Easy it's so easy it's not fun, I lose 5-1 on medium, win 10-0 on easy, crappy balancing. Also, why the hell is a tie an automatic loss? Program in some extra time or golden goals.

This is what you get when an American team thinks they can make a football game, they just don't get it. It has a lot going for it, and I really wanted to like it, but it comes up short in every area.

I really quite liked this game despite its flaws. The actual on-field gameplay is pretty boring. Intentionally simple and pretty barebones, but after you've played a game or two, you've experienced just about everything there is to experience. I think the game is at its best when not actually playing soccer. The different areas look different and stand out from each other, but the actualI really quite liked this game despite its flaws. I think the game is at its best when not actually playing soccer. The different areas look different and stand out from each other, but the actual sidequests you do get very bland and repetitive. A ton of guesswork with not a lot or care put into the actual structure of the way things work. More variety here would've helped the game massively. Overall, fun little game. Was pretty surprised with how much I enjoyed it, but I have to acknowledge how much better it could have been. It is very buggy. Things not loading until you've restarted the game multiple times, etc. Seemingly happens every 15 minutes. It is ridiculous. Expand

I found this game relaxing and unique. This is a game to play why you wait for games to be released. I like the art style and the story is ok. Just don't expect anything ground breaking here and you will have fun.

Despite some good ideas, Soccer Story fails to deliver in some of its design choices, feeling like a first but deeply improvable step.

Soccer Story is an unusual football-based RPG. With zany characters and colourful backdrops, this is a strange game to play. However, its reliance on simple quests and too much back and forth undermine its potential.

Soccer Story is one of those rare soccer games where almost everything apart from the action on the pitch is pretty good. It manages to conjure up a lovely world filled with a host of creative tasks and activities to keep you busy, whilst telling a fun little story along the way. That’s why it’s a shame to see a myriad of technical problems chipping away at the overall enjoyment.
