May 14, 2024These minor things aside, Paper Trails is stunningly crafted, cleverly designed and simply great puzzling action. Each new locale offers a fun, challenging new twist, and more insight into the sweetly told narrative pinning everything together. Extra challenges are there in the form of hidden collectible origami figures for those looking to maximise their time with the game, but that the hint system is so well implemented means even players unsure about their puzzling abilities can see if through.

Jun 17, 2024At the heart of the story, Paper Trail is about living your life despite your past, and living your life in the moment and to its fullest. This is a story I think can resonate with everyone. It’s about forging your own path, literally, even when you have been told "No". Paper Trail is a perfect example of a simple mechanic executed well. It’s sweet aesthetic blends nicely with just enough spice in the difficulty presented with the puzzles and doesn’t create a sour experience with overstaying its welcome. It’s a fantastically balanced game that I will encourage anyone to check out if they want to give their grey matter a little workout while engaging in a cozy story.

May 14, 2024Charming yet challenging, Paper Trail is a beautifully designed game that will have you perplexed by its page-folding puzzles. A generous hint system ensures players won't get so stuck that they get frustrated, while collecting all the origami is a task that will likely turn even the most ardent puzzle fan's brain to pulp.

May 14, 2024Sustaining its paper-folding hook across reams of compelling 2D levels, Paper Trail is a pretty unique puzzling adventure, with endearing characters, an engaging fairy tale look, and a procession of smartly executed paper conundrums. This is some good sheet.

May 23, 2024Paper Trail is a perfect example of a simple but engaging mechanic done well. Its difficulty is spicy enough to make you feel like a moderate origami genius, but not so difficult that you want to throw your crudely crafted swan into the fiery pits of hell. Folding reality itself may perhaps have lent itself to a bit more metastory meat, but a chill colourful aesthetic and a nice feeling of momentum should be more than enough to sate the average puzzle fan.

May 23, 2024Paper Trail is one of those puzzle games that you’ll think you can get the hang of, capable of completing it in an hour. But you'd be wrong as the initially simple setup is very deceiving and the more the game moves forward the trickier the puzzles get to solve.

May 21, 2024Paper Trail offers a concept that's both deliciously regressive (reminiscent of those paper fortune tellers made in playgrounds, where every raised corner revealed something new) and addictive. With its obvious artistic qualities, the game is a little gem of animation, level design and inventiveness. It is as much a work of art as a multifaceted puzzle, constantly reinventing itself to surprise and amaze players. It is an undeniable success for the Newfangled studio, which has produced a game in which the gameplay, graphics and storyline are perfectly interwoven to create a harmonious narrative.
