One of the best in the sports genre. Good mechanics and balance between the player's movement and aiming.

The game is so bad, it's funny.
Buggy interface, buggy mechanics, a lot of the plays of AI are out but are counted in and there is no option to review the shot or have a zoomed-in replay to the ball

El día que se tomen en serio, otra vez, los juegos de deportes y no la enésima entrega de simuladores, estaré el primero para poder disfrutar como antaño.

Good game...Why? The rallies are fast and each of them is different; the controls are simple and intuitive; and there is more focus on the feel of playing tennis as opposed to bells and whistles. Kudos to the developers, Torus Games. (No, I have nothing to do with them. I am a casual player in a small town in Minnesota.)

Here's what I like about the game:
    1) good long rallies; and each is different (as opposed to the left-right, left-right, left-right pattern of running your opponent around the court in AO, and the sometimes unrealistic shot-making in TWT).
    2) I like the simple, clean menus. You can get into a match very quickly.
    3) You have a real sense of power when you hit the ball cleanly with a flat shot or topspin.
    4) The RB makes you rush the net and it works as it is intended to; you can get to the net easily.
    5) Very few silly celebration graphics (players pumping fists, or throwing tantrums) that sometimes take me out of the other tennis games.
    6) The matches in career mode are longish (often best of 3 sets) and you can save at any moment. In the real world tennis matches are not three games long, so this feels more true to the sport and consequential.

Areas I'd love to see Torus tweak in future balancing updates:
    1) The announcer calls the match if you win a game and the score is 5-5. In tennis you have to win by two games. (The match continues, but the announcer should know the rules of tennis.)
    2) I'd like more lets, both on service and during the game (in the sense of the ball hitting the tape and dropping on one side or the other.) I'd also like shot-making to be more difficult if you are out of position; or unforced errors to be more likely.
    3) The pro players, in terms of play style, vary too little. Ideally, Torus could make each pro player unique.
    4) This might be too big an ask, but I'd love to see more variety of pacing. What I mean by this is: rather than always hitting low-to-the-net bullets back and forth, it would be cool if you could hold LT and hit the ball more slowly.
    5) More variety in net play/type of volleys would be nice.

I can’t comment on the online play, because I haven’t tried it. I played the demo for about a week and started the career mode on release day. Overall, I was pleasantly surprised. I want to keep playing the game, which is a good sign. Time will tell whether Torus plans to keep improving the game the way that 2K Czech did with Top Spin 4; I certainly hope so, because they have a solid foundation to work with here.

Matchpoint - Tennis Championships is less of a winning smash and more of a missed dropshot.

Matchpoint Tennis Championships is the new installment of professional tennis that comes to our consoles. Interesting mechanics and great gameplay will make this game a good choice for fun.

Matchpoint - Tennis Championships is a simulation that goes through ups and downs. The graphics feel a bit dated and the ball physics don't feel fully convincing, but once you master the control system you'll get some decent satisfaction out of it. Too bad, also, for the lack of content both in terms of modes and prominent tennis players.
