The story and world are interesting enough to keep you going through to the end. The combats gets rather repetitive fast with lots of weak/useless cards and very small variation of enemies.

At a glance, it does look like the combat would be repetitive. I can assure you that only at the very, very end did it feel that way for me. Since you get ample upgrades and new cards, with new functions, upon progression. It keeps things varied just enough for the most part. The card system is what I like best about the combat. The dice rolls and cards are pretty fun. Standard combat otherwise is pretty basic and arcade like. But it's okay for the most part. You actually don't fight a lot in the first half of the game anyway. Just a few major fights per town pretty much.

The rest of the game is where this shines. The main character designs are unique and full of energy in their own way. Their personality is shown not just in how they speak but in also how they are drawn. It come along too with the landscape that is around you. It's honestly the best part of the game. Seeing the enchanting and often funny dialogue exchanges between player and other characters. New characters just pop up everywhere through the whole game so there is plenty and plenty of this to come across too.

All in all I'd say 8/10. I hardly have criticisms of the game. It's visually stunning in it's own way and you are always enriched by how each new town has it's own unique quirks and townsfolk to match. Nice enough combat with an okay enough variety in all.

The game took about 15 hours for me. I was talking to pretty much every NPC available too. Achievements are about a 3/10 in difficulty. Maybe a 4 if you include the fact that some of the collectables later on can be highly missable.

Story, voice acting, gameplay, level design, everything is top notch. At first the gameplay might trick you into thinking it's very slow paced, specially since there is no jump, but you get used to it in a second. Highly recommended.

I love the art style it feels almost like a Tim Burton movie, the gameplay is decent although the action combat is a little bit more on the Arcady side of things. Initially the story was very interesting and kind of caught me into the game along with the visuals however the more I played through the more the story became cheesy and eventually I lost all interest in it only regaining it slightly at the very end. The combat is, interesting. It is a press B to dodge kind of a thing and you can spawn various items like weapons, explosives, turrets etc to help you from the cards you gather. It is a nice idea but a lot of the combat didn't feel as fluid or responsive as I would liked it to have. Now this isn't a souls game so maybe I'm nit picking here but still it left me wishing for more. Some of the game design choices were also really strange and annoying. I initially intended on completing all of the side quest. You can see how many you have left to do in an area. The problem is that if you progress through the main quest too far you will be moved to the next area without a possibility of coming back. The side quests in the game become accessible as you go through the main story so not all of them can be done at once when you enter the new area. This created a problem where the last side quest in an area didn't become accessible until the very last time you get to walk free in the town in question. I did not notice this because I was too far off from the quest marker and I didn't know that continuing with the main quest further would render me unable to complete that side quest, but that's what happened. After that I just kind of gave up on doing all of the side quests and only did those I stubbled upon. The ending leaves more questions the answers which is disappointing but I am hoping for a sequel that will, hopefully fix some of these issues. Overall it was not a bad game, I wouldn't recommend you outright buy it though. It is on the Game Pass so if you want you can try it there. I still enjoyed my time with it, I just wish some of the things were different and better. Expand

This game right here, is absolutely special!! It may not be for some. But anyone who has played any games from the late 90s to early 2000s, this is throwback to those games. And wow! I love this game! It's easily one of my favorite games to come out in 2021.

Along your way you meet a dice, and you set off an adventure to git the dice more pits so it cann roll higher numbers, to eventually get to the kingdom of 6…
youll also get cards to build of a deck of 15… these cards help in a variety of ways during combat, essentially youll hit weakspots with slingshots, fill up a card so you can roll dicey, the number you roll is how many action points you get to play a card such as having a word, or throwing out a bomb.. even healing.. just to name a few.. and youll do a mixture of combat and exploring these creapy tim burton like towns solving the problems of its residence to help you move on.. .
The greatest aspct of lsot in random is its world building.. I loved living in thise creepy little land.. meeting its colorful cast of charcters.. however I felt like eventually it all just became too much.. I felt like I was mostly sitting through dialog, waiting for my turn to choose a dialog option that didn’t change anything in the world or its gameplay, it was just an artificial choice wasting my time, pretending it was important.. causing me to get bored about halfway through, just wanting to push forward and explore the world, but instead these charcters just wanted to talk and talk and talk.. I stopped caring.. skipping dialog just trying to move on, go to the next section to throw down some dice and mess enemies up, til that too became a bore.. combat here just isn’t satisfying, it’s a novel idea at first reminding me a bit of kingdom hearts unchained memories, I love the idea of deck building for combat, but with how slow cards come out, and how annoying it is to aim for weak spots on enemies in general in terms of all video games, it just felt like a slog at times.. Something I feel that could be fixed with these shtos of my slingshot at least doing a little damage, encouraging me to use cards to be more powerful rather than rely on them to progress forward..
Overall I appreciate the world of Lost in Random, the characters are crazy, the world is intriguing, and there are many great life lessons to be taken, but the pacing from the combat to the story is just awful, its bad and brought this nearly great game down in my eyes.. not by much.. but I found myself noticeable liking the game less and less the more I played it…
    I give Lost in Random

While the aesthetic may be a turn off to most, Lost in Random boasts a simple, but enjoyable story with likeable characters and plenty of personality. The way the developers were able able to make so many nods to puns on numbers and numerical jargon is impressive. Combat is simple but kept interesting with the die system in having to acquire gems to roll to use a card to battle back. The way the developers were able able to make so many nods to puns on numbers and numerical jargon is impressive. Combat is simple but kept interesting with the die system in having to acquire gems to roll to use a card to battle back. While clever, in longer battles (especially boss battles) this system can be cumbersome and make the of the battles feel that much longer. Puzzles can be hit and miss with some puzzles being quite clever with specific tasks requiring effort and others being simple fetch quests and the side content is much the same. Overall, I am enjoying story. The game plays like a Disney story wrapped in a Tim Burton art style with basic, but creative combat. The game isn't for everyone, but is a reminder that you don't need big budgets and overwhelming, cinematic display to make an enjoyable game. Expand

I was very much into everything this game seemed to be. Loved the art style, loved the atmosphere, loved the vibes. But the gameplay lets it down big time. It's clunky and just doesn't feel very intuitive. I honestly feel like this game would be better with less actual combat.

It's worth rolling on to the end, but you might find yourself wishing it had more of the concision of its cinematic inspirations, rather than the drag of a family game of monopoly. [Issue#364, p.123]

Lost in Random is a very unique game. It has great writing and some of the best art direction of the year. However, the combat system plays a risky gamble that I don't feel quite works out in the game's favour.

Lost in Random is a unique mix between a card game and an action/adventure game. The development of the universe and the plot takes a little while to get started, but once you meet Par and his unexpected companions, you start to fall in love with his story in this strange world of Burtonian style. And we can not forget the humor that shines constantly, and the visual and sound section that does not disappoint. Its main problem is that the AI is not very challenging, and it lacks more variety in the cards.
