I used to have this game, Like A Dragon: Ishin! The multi-billion dollar business has no obligation to provide valid evidence for something so permanent as a PERMAMENT SUSPENSION FROM ACCESSING ANY OF YOUR PAID FOR CONTENT ON THEIR SYSTEM?!?! The thing is...you CANT leave any real hateful comments and cuss words in reviews or XBOX doesn't even even save them, just blanks it out like you didn't type anything at all. Also I would've never said anything that warrants this kind of permament suspension, at worst I was talking crap on EAs Sims 4 predatory gaming practices of cutting a main game up and selling it to you in 20-$40 "game & expansion packs". So the suspension is complete BS, groups of circle jerks can get together and report something you typed as offensive and it auto-bans you and some lame gamer on a power-trip volunteering for their "ambassador" program (more circle jerks with fragile egos) reviews the ban and appeal. Boycott Xbox, they don't deserve your money with their "woke" parenting of even the lamest of things like GAME REVIEWS. I literally cant even sign into my account to access offline content, its ALL GONE thanks to an Abusive system MS lets auto-handle, the first miss steps of "AI". Buyers BEWARE. Expand

While it's a good thing that this game even got a remastering in the first place, and that it was released in the West, this game shows it's age in a number of ways that, for a long time Yakuza/Like A Dragon player, reminds of the time when these games needed a major overhaul for some of it's mechanics. Easily the biggest upgrade is the graphics and it shows with all the major character models in the game. However some character models were definitely not pulled from some of the later games, since they were no longer part of the series by that point, and it definitely shows. That also doesn't take into account the horrible looking NPC's throughout the game, which barely have seen any attention whatsoever. I will give them props on the story as it's one of my favorite ones in the series so far, especially with how closely they followed the actual real world events surrounding the Shinsegumi and even using the correct names for all parties involved. It was very intriguing, even if the twist in the end was so obvious you could see if coming from chapter 3. While I can recommend it to both new and old players alike, I'd still recommend people go for Yakuza 0 over this as an entry point to the series. Long time players of the series will get a kick out this one too but will probably feel the same way I did about the missing quality of life stuff that was added in with Yakuza 6. Expand

If you're a fan of the Yakuza series you will enjoy this. I never played the original but i enjoyed the remake. Four different attack styles and plenty of upgrades to personalize your style. The plot is interesting. Performance is good and I didn't have any technical issues, which is amazing these days. I really got what I was expecting. Very similar to other Yakuza games except for the setting. Finished all of the substories and then main story. 60 hours well spent.

In the end, Like a Dragon: Ishin is yet another strong entry in an exceptionally strong series, finally having been translated into English and lovingly reworked for the current generation almost a decade after its initial release. The combat’s showing its age around the edges and there are other minor quibbles to be sure, but this is still a trip to the past that’s well worth taking.

I am a big fan of the Yakuza series and Like a Dragon Ishin! has all the qualities that you would expect from a game in this series. It looks and feels like a modern game but certain aspects do remind you that you are playing a remake of an older game. For those new to the series this is a great one to jump into as it’s disconnected story-wise from the Yakuza thread. There is so much content to enjoy and the different combat styles keep things fresh even if the story doesn’t feel too fresh.
