    Hogwarts Legacy is one of the most eagerly-awaited games of recent years, rumored over the last few years and announced at a Playstation showcase, the game strikes a chord in the hearts of Harry Potter fans as FINALLY the BIG Harry Potter game they've all been waiting for...but enough to make it a great game? Well, personally I think not! The game is far from perfect... Unnecessary sideHogwarts Legacy is one of the most eagerly-awaited games of recent years, rumored over the last few years and announced at a Playstation showcase, the game strikes a chord in the hearts of Harry Potter fans as FINALLY the BIG Harry Potter game they've all been waiting for...but enough to make it a great game? Well, personally I think not! The game is far from perfect... Unnecessary side quests... Content to artificially extend the lifespan (Merlin's test)... Characters that don't stand out enough, a predictable and uninteresting main quest... You can see straight away that Avalanche software isn't used to making games on a grand scale. The game does have its qualities, however: the soundtrack, for example, is discreet but quite captivating... the art direction is well worked out, even if the technical side is not up to scratch. The game's main positive point is its UNIVERSE. The "Harry Potter" universe is ultra-well represented, and Hogwarts makes you want to explore it like pre-lard, bravo to Avalanche Software for their love of this license.

    To conclude: Hogwarts Legacy isn't a bad game by any means... but it is rather generic, a little too similar to Ubisoft's opens World... Too big, too much to do for not much... If the game wasn't in the Harry Potter universe, the criticism from gamers and the press wouldn't be the same...    … Expand

    Castle and map is great, I was imagining the combat was going to feel bad, but no, it feels amazing and easy to conquer. I've played about 60 hours, and the story was decent enough. I don't care what the people who believe JK Rowling is a bad person say about this game, because she's already a zillionaire and so it makes no difference, and all of those people are just ridiculous enough to believe cancel culture and not actually do any research for themselves. I honestly think that the little visual glitches and stuff at launch are fine due to the fact that this, yet again, is Avalanche, so it's going to have some issues, and since there is a site dedicated to report bugs on the first page of the game's website, they should absolutely have all the bugs fixed within the first month with ease. I think that if the game gets a nice dlc to build playerbase, then it can keep that already massive playerbase for even longer than any other open world games. For a massive fan of the franchise (the books in particular) it is a dream come true and I recommend it to anyone who is, or ever has been a fan of the books/movies (but mainly the books since that's what they based the castle design off of).

    From The combat to location and story this game is amazing! It is quite literally everything you possibly could want (Short of Quidditch) in a Harry Potter based game. With plenty of references to the books and films, iconic locations, hidden encounters, and Spells of every Kind, Hogwarts has been my favorite game of 2023.

    - The combat is fine. While it's nothing amazing, it's also not bad.

    - The world is decent. While I've never been a fan of gothic / older British buildings, it still captures the theme that is Harry Potter.

    - The story is decent enough, while it's the typical good guy beats bad guy formulae, there's still enough mystery and intriguing characters (namely Sebastian) in there to spice it up.

    Cons:

    - The gearing in this game doesn't feel good. Receiving an epic or legendary piece of gear that is oftentimes worse than a rare piece of gear and quickly out levelling it is not good design as it takes away player power. The quest rewards also for the most part feel unsatisfying.

    - Despite being able to increase your inventory capacity through Merlin Trials, it is tedious to have to constantly juggle the low amount of space you start with.    … Expand

    This goes on to the must play list. It oozes quality at every turn. The stories (main and side) hook you and keep you coming back for more. The combat system is superb and there is "weight" to the destructive spells you cast while other, more passive, spells feel more delicate. As you can spend a lot of time with a "companion" my only regret is this game didn't offer co-op game-play.This goes on to the must play list. It oozes quality at every turn.     A good game, but with to much reuse of assets. Side content is not good. I like the main quest and I think they nailed the feeling of being in this universe.

    Game is fun, but has very little replay value. Each house has a special quest. But other than that nothing changes. Game even on harder difficulty is still way too easy.

    Hogwarts Legacy is a beautiful game with great gameplay. As a Harry Potter fan it's fantastic to be able to explore the Harry Potter world and live out life as a student. The only issue plaguing the game is a lack of depth and meaningful decisions. I'd love to see DLC or a future sequel bring it to the next level.

    This game is incredibly beautifully designed, Hogwarts is amazing and the open world is really pretty... and that's about it what this game has to offer. It has some of the stalest combat I've seen in a game, the open world is pretty, but empty and it's really doesn't reward you at all for exploring it. The story is very boring and your choices don't impact the story.     Side quests are incredibly boring, unrewarding and tedious, I really could not be arsed to do any sidequests outside of Sebastian's. It at most 40 hours of content, which is far from enough for a game I spent 70€ on. Biggest disappointment of the year. Not to mention that on PC it barely is able to run, doesn't matter if you have a 4090 or a 2070, this game has lag spikes like no other, it's like you're watching a slideshow.    … Expand

    Hogwarts Legacy is a blast to play. This is a game where I felt compelled to just do everything. It took me a long time to beat the main story since I was getting so distracted by the side missions. Playing as a wizard is so much fun. My only complaint is on the enemy variety. This game did an amazing job of bringing to life the world of Harry Potter that many people grew up with in the books and movies. The combat is simple but very fun and makes you feel great juggling and destroying enemies with tons of cool combinations with spells. The story and side stories are great near the end it really felt like I was playing 4 different interesting stories even after the end of the main story. The crafting system is nice but could be improved. The game does a great job of giving the player choice from choosing their house to creating a room of requirement or how the place that they keep their beasts looks.
    There is a lack of enemy variety and that does get a little boring. Another thing is the Merlin trials feel a bit too numerous, as well as the treasure vaults which would have been better if they had been fewer in number and more complex with actual loot worth getting. The world is great when it loads, a large number of times it would take 5 minutes for stuff to load in which I've never had happen in any game I played. Overall, this game it great and nails the harry potter school student experience that I love in the movies but could be improved gameplay wise.    … Expand

    Absolutely great game really catches the magical atmosphere and world of Harry Potter, combat was surprisingly a lot better then I thought, minor nitpicks that I have but overall a great game to get lost in the world of wizards and witches!

However with the direction of many open world games such as, elden ring, dying light, destiny. It's hard to not play such a massive game with some much at your fingertips and have no option to see or enjoy others scenery, personally other than an amazing visually appealing game that's the best aspect of the game. The story feels like it needed work, and personally feel that the game was slightly false advertised with stating you get to make the future or control the path of your wizard. But then remove the consequence factor from the game completely, you cannot truly be a dark wizard in the game. You can do dark wizard things but, killings or using unforgivable curses is not unforgivable. The story is ultimately set for you to be the hero regardless of the path you take, there are also to me. Key missing Harry Potter elements, with hufflepuff you can visit the prison of Azkaban, but otherwise you will never see Azkaban. Despite using unforgiving curses yourself, you also do not actually get to interact with the demintor encounter or use a patronis charm, quiddictch is canceled, all year. The basilisk is only really mentioned. These are key parts of the Harry Potter world in my opinion. Decorating the room of requirements is nice. But being able to use the chairs and table for more than just looking would have been nice. The final boss fight personally was a HUGE disappointment, and the Evil wizard ending even more disappointing than the fight itself. The game has its pros, but it is far from without its cons as well. Of course to each their own, I personally wanted more from the create your own wizard, make your own path that was advertised. Not being able to act as Tom riddle and be a violent murderous wizard while still attending classes or even recruiting other students into Faction that later would become my dark wizard organization. The store they give you to sell items was very underwhelming. I'm sure there will be updates. But having finished the game already it's more of a one and done game atleast for the time being, I do not feel any need to rush through every house story, as they all still follow an exact script. Which eliminates creating your own path.… Expand

    Es todo lo que algún fanático del mundo de Harry Potter pudo pedir jamás. Una vez acabado el juego sientes que algo mas falta, sin embargo, es una obra maestra, el poder recorrer y hacer tan tangible al colegio Hogwarts es increíble.

    Other than the semi empty open world hogwarts legacy has everything you want from an open-world harry potter game.
    You might grow tired of the combat but that is nothing compared to the beauty and detail of hogwarts itself.
    Could’ve made NPCs a bit more life like tho,

    Wouldn't say I'm the biggest Harry Potter fan but I was hyped for the Game. Saw the trailer and got goosebumps. I hoped for a really nice harry potter Hogwarts game IN Hogwarts WITH the classes and all but NO. It just doesn't feel good to play the game. It somehow feels empty and without a soul. Besides that the combat    Wow I didn't even think a game could disappoint me this much.

    As a big Harry Potter fan this is right down my (diagon)alley. The magic is easy to use and satisfying, the open world is gorgeous as is the castle itself.. sure the quests are pretty standard but that's just the norm for open world games now, nevertheless it's still a very enjoyable experience.. i would give it a 10 but the performance wasn't always as smooth as I'd have liked but it wasAs a big Harry Potter fan this is right down my (diagon)alley. I have not finished the story yet, but i have spent about 30 hours on the game and did most of the side quests and have all the spells(including the cursed ones). And exploring the world is cool and all, but you almost never get any rewards besides clothing so there isn't enough*A bit of spoilers but nothing too much* About 8.5. the game is overall good but it gets repetetive really fast.     The intro is a bit long. The castle is where its at. The unforgivable curses are where its at. Story is tolerable. The beasty stuff is where its at. Collectibles outside of the castle and hogsmeade are very repetitive. The flying is probly the best part of the game. I wish there was more options for the character creator, more like the elden ring one. And more options for the bloody voice.The intro is a bit long. The castle is where its at. The unforgivable curses are where its at. Story is tolerable. The beasty stuff is where its at. Collectibles outside of the castle and hogsmeade are very repetitive.     The open world felt empty and the characters were badly written and acted. Hogwarts had so much potential but it was undetailed and felt like a chore to walk through. The gameplay was very good but it didn’t make up for everything else wrong with the game.

So the suspension is complete BS, groups of circle jerks can get together and report something you typed as offensive and it auto-bans you and some lame gamer on a power-trip volunteering for their "ambassador" program (more circle jerks with fragile egos) reviews the ban and appeal.     Excellent game in all regards. Lots of lore from the books. Mini-games are a lot of fun. Much care was taken in crafting a beautiful environment full of creative details. Reminded me both of The Witcher 3 and the old Zelda games, but at Hogwarts. The developers and product team that worked on this game deserve a ton of praise.

    Unfortunately I can only give this game a 5. It was great up until about the 50% mark when it became a glitchy mess and I couldn't start dialogue with NPCs. Made bug report but nothing has been done.

    One of the best and most immersive games I have played so far. The world to explore seems endless and very detailed. I am not usually a fan of such adventure games but Hogwarts Legacy seems like a new genre in itself. 10 out of 10 for sure

No need to attend class on time, no need to sleep, nothing to do in your common room or hogwarts for that matter.     Wasn't a huge Potter fan before playing but have become one. The first 30 hours which you're spending a huge amount of time in the castle was pure magic and found it brilliant. The second half of the game out in the world was less spectacular but still good fun. A bit repetitious.

Tout est fléché, archi facile à trouver et c'est dommage (je précise que j'ai fait le jeu à 100%). J'aurais adoré aussi que les choix de dialogues aient une véritable influence sur le scénario principal, ou l'utilisation des sorts impardonnables par exemple.

    Quoiqu'il en soit on passe un bon moment sur le jeu, il m'aura fallu 52h pour en voir le bout en le faisant à fond. Mes enfants adorent et ne décrochent pas, preuve que le jeu a touché sa cible.    … Expand

    -music is both original and reminiscent of the original HP score
    -no game breaking bugs
    -riding the broom is f’n sweet

    The bad:
    -frame rate issues on fidelity mode
    -constant pop-in on performance and fidelity mode
    -constant fade to black and loading creating disengagement -piss poor story (couldn’t care less about what happens for whatever reason or to who)
    -NPCs/characters are as robotic and lifeless as anything I’ve ever encountered
    -the open world provides little to no reason to explore it outside of hardline quest objectives
    -every combat situation can be solved the same way -holds your hand all the way through as if you’ve never played a video game
    -level locked areas that provide no reason for being restricted other than *you’re not a high enough level*
    -can only attack designated *enemies* -UI is needlessly convoluted (small gripe)

    Overall, the game is basically assassins creed with a wand and broom at Hogwarts. If you like AC you’ll like this, if you hate AC (like me) you’ll hate it. I could care less about the controversy surrounding the game (obvi, because I bought it) I just straight up didn’t find it fun or engaging overall. It doesn’t bring anything new to the table from a mechanical perspective and lacks charm from a character and storytelling perspective.    … Expand

    After 58.5 hours I have completed Hogwarts Legacy. With quests that feel engaging and a world that feels totally alive I had such a hard time wanting to finish, I just wanted to explore. So many spells and spell combination made it so fun to experiment. All in all 9/10 experience And most definitely would play again!

Pros: The plot is good, the combat is fantastic, the exploration and freedom is top notch. I love the soundtrack and the visuals are good, though the character models seem last Gen.     Hogwarts Legacy is littered with small niggles which, when stacked together, make the game feel like it was released over a decade ago. While the castle is a large enough area to explore, the monotony of repeating quests and tasks makes the game feel last-generation and boring over time. Hogwarts Legacy could already use some DLC's in order to expand the size of the world, add more complex spells, and introduce a wider array of enemies. If you are a power-nerd looking for a new and complete RPG, you will have to wait for Star Wars: Jedi Survivor, coming in April 2023. While most critics agree that Hogwarts Legacy is near perfect, due to the incomplete feeling of the game and lack of a solid story arc, it feels more Muggle than magic.

    Hogwarts Legacy is an extremely fun adventure, despite having some graphic and narrative difficulties. In the vast open world, which makes it possible to explore popular locations and live like a typical Hogwarts student, you will face interesting challenges in the path of unraveling the main mystery of the game. Even though it's an exciting adventure, even a muggle like me manages, at a certain point, to miss a greater magic to deliver everything that the fans expected.
