Jul 29, 2025If you enjoyed the previous game, you’ll love Grounded 2, it’s a big leap ahead for the series. [Early Access Score = 85]

Jul 29, 2025Overall, so far Grounded 2 is not only a worthy successor but one that will eventually become far superior to the original. From the number of upgrades to the number of new enemies, Grounded 2 sets itself up for success early on. While it's still early in the development cycle, Grounded 2 has at a minimum found a good starting place to improve upon. There's a lot of good here, more than I had imagined there would be. It isn't perfect by any means, with the bugs and issues it has right now, but all of those are fixable. If you enjoyed Grounded, you'll enjoy Grounded 2 because it's just Grounded, too. No one can say where the next few years of the game will take it, but I have the greatest faith that the team behind Grounded 2 will be able to make this another incredible title with an uncountable number of playable hours. [Early Access Provisional Score = 85]

Aug 7, 2025Grounded 2 strikes me as a very traditional survival game in practice, even if the intuitive design and the enjoyable and memorable world stand out as highlights. This is a game that you will love for a few hours and then steadily lose interest in, unless you're a die-hard survival fan that lives and breathes this genre. [Early Access Score = 70]

Jul 29, 2025In many ways, Grounded 2 is more of the same but I don’t think anyone came away from that first outing asking for anything different. Feedback has been taken on board with this sequel offering a larger map, new bugs, a mount system, alongside other refined and retuned features that make for an experience that is more seamless, more immersive, and an undeniable improvement over what came before. Obsidian Entertainment came into this project with great foundations. Grounded 2 may be in early access, but it’s already the definitive way to experience this franchise. [Early Access Score = 90]

Jul 29, 2025Grounded 2 is almost the ultimate survival game featuring tiny teenagers who have lost their way in a park. It retains the best features of the original and adds cool new elements such as the buggies, but it could be even better if the technical glitches were fixed and the pace of future updates was maintained. [Early Access Score = 84]

Jul 29, 2025Grounded 2 is shaping up to be another win for Obsidian Entertainment in the survival space. Despite some difficulty worries, this early access launch is a confident showcase of Obsidian's newfound familiarity with the survival genre.

Jul 30, 2025Abandoning Grounded to start work on a much more ambitious sequel seems clearly the best decision Obisidan Entertainment could have made with this franchise. Backed by Eidos-Montréal, the studio has a particularly robust foundation. We're now keeping our fingers crossed that future additions will enrich the content and mechanics enough to make it a new benchmark in survival and crafting games. However, there are still many technical issues to be addressed, although communication with players during early access should help iron out any remaining kinks.
