    A solid showing in the "Arkham" (in "extended" universe sans Batman) Gotham City. Play the "New Guard", Batgirl, Red Hood, Nightwing - and everybody's favorite since the 60s: Robin! Scour a narrative-driven, open world Gotham with random (read: grindy) tasks to take Batman's baton - and hit it repeatedly over the bad guys girls and diverse underground reps committing felonies across town,A solid showing in the "Arkham" (in "extended" universe sans Batman) Gotham City. Play the "New Guard", Batgirl, Red Hood, Nightwing - and everybody's favorite since the 60s: Robin! Scour a narrative-driven, open world Gotham with random (read: grindy) tasks to take Batman's baton - and hit it repeatedly over the bad guys girls and diverse underground reps committing felonies across town, all the while finding out why the heck Batman had to die by the hand of a supervillain. Go for it if a DC hardcore fan at full price, wait for a sale if a 3rd Person Open World fan with AAA branding.

    The Good:
    Graphics! Gorgeous and far-sighted views of Gotham and fluid to boot on Xbox Series X (however, it won't keep the 60 fps it looks like) ... but... [see "bad"]
    Easy to traverse Gotham - ascend and descend buildings, go on patrol on your Bat Cycle etc.
    Open world - go anywhere you want, beat anyone you want over the head... live with the consequences
    Story is well-done and voiceovers are AA (not movie style, but well done)
    The "New Guard" of heroes is pretty different in skill sets and specialisations - although... [see "bad"]
    Rocksteady tried to mix it up and give you some "crime scene investigation" gameplay ... but [see "bad"]

    The bad:
    [Open Gotham...] is big! Which means a huge world to traverse and most of the time getting from A to B to do just some menial "random task" (insert: beat up bad underground mobs) - guidance is only given for the main plot + some "premediated crime" sub tasks - the rest is just grind... literally repeating the one and same sub-missions to get your favorite new DC Knight that next skill.
    They still couldn't manage to make Robin cool - not on them, but if you'd rather play Nightwing than Robin... 'nuff said.
    [Crime Scenes...] - they are just some screwed-on-top "point and click" style adventures - where you often will end up "just clicking stuff and combining random things" to get it over with... not well done at all, but a nice touch.

    The ugly:
    The story might not be your cup of tea, glass of beer, bottle of Kombucha. It is "new guard" / extended universe - sans Batman, sans Commissioner Gordon etc. pp.
    Does get grindy the more you get into it... in a repetitive mediocre way.
    "Stealth" gameplay in a non-stealth environment - always was, is and will always be a bad idea... badly executed and kind of gimmicky at best here.    … Expand

    After +8 hours with the game I think it is a very good game. Not excellent because it has technical problems specially with the fps, and several enemies are copied from others. But in general, it is a very good game. Not that bad as media says.

    Not nearly as bad as reviews make it out to be. You need to try it and put some hours into it to appreciate the good aspects. Gotham is a wonderful play ground, gritty, but not a post apocalyptic version. I prefer this much more over other depictions. It is also huge.

    People just review bombing negatively because of the 30fps limit are unfortunately making a mountain out of a mole hill.    Not nearly as bad as reviews make it out to be. You need to try it and put some hours into it to appreciate the good aspects. Gotham is a wonderful play ground, gritty, but not a post apocalyptic version. I prefer this much more over other depictions. It is also huge.

    Compared to the Arkham series, significantly more boring. A lot of things are the same, but everything feels worse.
    The characters are flat and uninteresting, and the gameplay was better in Batman.

    I'm more positive on Gotham Knights than most. I enjoyed my time with it and was really into it at points but the repetition did eventually start to wear me down.

    The rpg system doesn't really add much to the experience and although I quite enjoyed going around completing side objectives to level up I can definitely see how that could feel grindy to some.     The combat system is fun but I found the reuse of mini bosses quite annoying especially towards the end. Some enemies and bosses also started feeling spongy so I found myself turning the difficulty down not because it was too hard but because fights were taking too long.

    The story was fun and pretty solid. Not amazing or overly memorable but enjoyable. The characters were mostly solid as well in terms of dialogue and appearance. Although nightwing and red hood were a bit too beefy looking in my opinion.

    I'm a massive fan of the arkham games. Gotham Knights is honestly a worse version of them but playing as new characters in a new Gotham with a new combat system did offer some fun times. I don't think i'll revisit this the way I keep coming back to the arkham games but it was all in all quite solid.    … Expand

    I love Batman, and this game makes me feel like I'm playing a Cristopher Nolan story mixed with the aesthetics of the original Gotham Knights comic books. To me, this game is just perfectly balanced and the coop is a dream come true. This is a whole new chance to grow the Batfamily in gaming. 100% recommended

    This game is great. You truly feel like you are roaming the streets of gotham and stoping crime. You find things pretty naturally and there is plenty to do. Doing this with a friend is also fun and Ive heard theyre adding 4 player mode so cant wait. Lots of issues with framerate and wish this came out in 60 at least for being a "next gen only title" when it feels like something that couldThis game is great.     The world is bland, characters are robotic and the combat is a total degradation from our beloved series before. The most unjustified thing about this whole game is that it runs 30FPS on next generation consoles. A total disappointment and a flop, everyone with at least one eye can see that this was an attempted cash grab instead of a passion driven development.

    The majority of negative reviews focus on the 30 fps. It definitely should have been announced long before the week of release. That being said the game plays very well. Ive had a few drops to the teens in certain extreme situations.(multi-player with lots of enemies on screen and explosions etc) few seconds of a drop then back to 30.

    The story is excellent so far but the multi-player has been by far my favorite part. Doing team up attacks on enemies just doesnt get old. Controls work very well driving in this game is done so well the controls work great for that.

    I don't care about FPS, I just wanted to fight baddies, enjoy Gotham City and see all the enemies I know and love after watching the latest Harley Quinn cartoons and all seasons of Gotham. This gets the job done and has that open-world addictive piece that games like Spiderman and Batman have always had.

    I'd recommend working to unlock the fast travel and then the Knighthood abilities to    I don't care about FPS, I just wanted to fight baddies, enjoy Gotham City and see all the enemies I know and love after watching the latest Harley Quinn cartoons and all seasons of Gotham.     I give it a 10 because it thought me to see things beyond and enjoy from my own experience. I'll never trust reviews ever again, especially from media like IGN or Gamespot. BTW the gave a 6 and 4 to Death Stranding and Alien Isolation... Alien Isolation, such an amazing game, they said that the AI sucked, my gosh that's one of the most amazing examples of well-designed AI in games. They just let a lazy and incompetent player play a complex game that required advanced skills other than shooting.

    Just recall how troublesome the launch of Arkham Knight was, how the people flipped on the developers and how bad were the initial reviews, now it is recognized for the amazing game it is.

The graphics are top notch, the audio is great, and the story is engaging. Leveling up feels good and progressing nicely, and the suit cosmetics are varied and look great.     If you read the negative reviews it's from people who haven't even played the game but review bombing it because of the 30 fps. The game is absolutely fantastic,story is good...combat is fantastic once you progress and unlock new abilities and gear. I'm getting tired of the gaming community review bombing games before they even play them. They're toxic.

    For a studio which last game was Arkham Origins in 2013, it is unacceptable that this game was deliver the way it was. 30 fps for a next-gen exclusive game, lazy writing, underwhelming story.
    -The court of owls were not made justice. They lost the chance to develop the organization and were left almost as a side villain.
    -The combat is slow and tedious. They got rid of the counter button    For a studio which last game was Arkham Origins in 2013, it is unacceptable that this game was deliver the way it was. 30 fps for a next-gen exclusive game, lazy writing, underwhelming story.

    -The city is beautiful BUT it barely has NPCs and cars, if feels completely empty and the batcycle goes slower than walking.
    -The traversal is awful, only batgirl has a good traversal movement.
    -The dialogue is off, there are awkward silences between takes and the script is just lazy.
    -The story is predictable. Since the first cutscene you know who is pulling the strings.
    And last, Batman/Bruce Wayne is made as a suicidal, bland character.

    Wait for a sale before you touch this game. It is not worth your hard earn money    … Expand

This game is RPG and NOT a Arkham action game.     This game is being review bombed by soys bitter about batgirl getting cancelled. Dont fall for it. A solid 8/10 action rpg. Just dont go in expecting arkham 4 and you'll be fine. I have had zero perfomance issues on series s. The combat gets really good you just have to unlock your moves 1st.

    all those who put 10 are fake, it is absolutely not true that the game is beautiful, indeed, and it is really unstable on console it runs at 30 fps when you stand still and when you use the bike it drops down to 21 fps is really ridiculous.

    I have played all the previous Arkham Games so I walked into this, knowing full well it was going to be its own thing and I was still SHOCKED at the level of ineptitude this game had on full display. My game slowed to an absolute CRAWL below 30 frames per second multiple times during the week I had the game. My game fully crashed 7 times, in 2 days. How about mission structure? Go talk to A, then go back to the Belfry. Go find B, go back to the Belfry. Go beat up C, go back to the Belfry. That is maddening to do over and over again. It completely breaks up your immersion in the story and the RPG mechanics in this game were completely unnecessary and overwhelming with the 10,000 menus you have to navigate to use them. I defeated every single enemy and boss I encountered by smashing the X button and using dodge every other 5 seconds. Wash, rinse, repeat. I want people to think about this. Arkham Asylum came out in 2009 by Rocksteady who had barely made a game at that point. 2 years later after that games overwhelming success, Arkham City was released. TWO YEARS LATER using Xbox 360 and PS3 technology and both of those games are masterpieces. This game has the power of the Series X and PS5 at it’s disposal as well as Unreal Engine 4 and just as much time to make it come to life. And in almost every way, it SEVERAL steps behind both of those games. WB Montreal should NEVER be allowed to touch this franchise ever again.… Expand

    Absolutely amazed at how well crafted the open world and story is for the game. There’s so much incredible lore and detail a DC fan will love. The combat is very well crafted alone or in coop, especially if you learn the timed attacks and combos. It had incredible expectations coming out of the Arkham series and it exceeds it but it is important to look at it not as an    Incredible game!

    It started with the Arkham series and then it was PS4 Spiderman but now objectively the evolution and current peak of superhero videogames is without a doubt Gotham Knights. Thank you so much Warner Bros Montreal!

    People are exaggerating. The game is good. Some like to grind destiny, me it gotham knigh. The gameplay is fun and diverse between characters and story mission are impressive. The best part is that you really immersed yourself in this world by taking down criminal and interrogating them to know about an upcoming crime and stop it before it happen just to escape the police afterwards.     no need to put a mode with a 60fps patch, you can't play 21fps on the bike, it really all sucks, no one here is comparing it to Batman Arkham, so it's no use that fanboys keep spamming 10 without sense, because the problem is not that but the fps. and if you complain about this, either you don't have a ps5, or you just switched to ps5 from the switch..

    Wow. Where to begin. Let me start off by saying what a massive disappointment this game was. Everything to the gameplay it the performance.

    The Gameplay: The gameplay in GK was a huge let down. We went from a smooth free flow combat system in the Arkham Games to….this. It feels clunky, slow, and unpolished. Not to mention the RPG elements in the game just don’t work. These type of Batman    Wow. Where to begin. Let me start off by saying what a massive disappointment this game was. Everything to the gameplay it the performance.

    The Gameplay: The gameplay in GK was a huge let down. We went from a smooth free flow combat system in the Arkham Games to….this. It feels clunky, slow, and unpolished. Not to mention the RPG elements in the game just don’t work. These type of Batman games don’t function well with RPG elements. Damage numbers and level scaling is absolutely ridiculous. This game loves to level gate players from certain missions. It almost forces you into “grinding” the open world to level up.

    The Performance: Don’t even get me started on this. 30fps CAPPED on console. Absolutely unacceptable for a “next gen” only title. That fact that there is no performance mode is disappointing. Even with the capped 30fps, the game still dips below into the low twenties, making the game feel like a slideshow.

    The Story: The story in this game was just “ok.” It certainly wasn’t memorable compared to any of the Arkham games. I won’t go further into this due to spoilers. Surprisingly the story is what carried me through the game.

    The Characters: Just to be clear, I love the concept of a bat family game. Robin, Nightwing, Redhood, and Batgirl are all cool characters, just not in this game. I think the biggest problem for me was their voice acting and their dialogue. A lot of it was very cringey and had terrible delivery. I’m disappointed as Batgirl and Robin are some of my favorite side characters in the comics.

    The Art Style: Once again we have another disappointment on our hands. Everything from the city to the outfits of the characters. Gotham city looks completely uninspired and boring compared to any other depiction we’ve seen in comics, video games, or movies. It just feels like regular city, not Gotham city with its dark gothic atmosphere and architecture. The character art style in this game is also bad. The coolest and most comic accurate skins are locked behind the deluxe edition paywall. In conclusion, I was massively let down with this game. I don’t recommend anyone buy this. Save your money. The performance, the gameplay, and several other factors just make this game so unenjoyable. I hope this review helps.    … Expand

    This game has been through the ringer. There is alot of reasons to give GN a low score and they are all very valid from what I have seen.But I had such a great time playing with and Upgrading the Gorgous Bat Girl , that I have to admit I like this game...

    Biggest bruh moment of the year to be honest.

    Not that I wanted to dislike this game, but it just feels so weak in comparison to other games of its nature. While not living up to what Rocksteady crafted 13 years ago and not adapting on it, Gotham Knights is a joyless experience and a performance mess. What a waste of your $60+ or $70+ depending on your choice of platform.

    Very enjoyable overall, excellent opportunity to interact whit some of Bat-Family members. The characters design are incredible, based on the Jim Lee’s work, nicely done. PD: for those kids rating low scores whitout a reason, just talking about the fps rate: you don’t even have a proper console so take your crybaby behavior and go play fornite and roblox, the hell whit you all.

    Brilliant game that gets better the more you play it. Yes some of the perps are damage sponges in the early game but as you progress and level up you become bad ass and can one hit most minions. Great fun to play by yourself but even better in co-op. My favourite game of the year with 70+ hours sunk in to it so far and I'm still discovering things. Ignore the hater review bombers whoBrilliant game that gets better the more you play it.     Total waste of money. My GeForce RTX 2080Ti doesn't get used. Even with ray-tracing off FPS rates stick around 30. Thin story, Trivial combat.

    Fantastic game. Lots of fun playing online co-op too! This game only gets hate because of no 60fps support. It's not worth missing out on over that. Hell of a game! My only complaint is Gotham doesn't feel very alive. It's got some NPC's but it's mostly empty.

    Fiz 100% do jogo (incluindo extras).

    O jogo poderia ter sido facilmente um sólido 9, mas problemas de desempenho (movimentação frustrante, bugs, crashes) complicam.

    A história é bacana, o gameplay interessante suficiente, e o coop deixa bem divertido. Mas no xbox não vale preço cheio (na faixa de 100 pode ir na fé)

    Not as bad as everyone says. Story is adequate but has some flaws. Game mechanics are where the most questionable design choices were made. They were more focused on being different from Arkham Knight than from learning from it.

    I can really enjoy this game. It has some performance issues that could be solved with a patch. 30 fps on XSX is not acceptable. Other than that. Story is interesting and the combat is cool.

    The fighting is basically two buttons. There is no real jump button which is frustrating and ridiculous, because the dodge is not a jump. You punch, punch hard, or dodge. Those are your 3 moves. The game has the same villains we have seen before (for the most part) so that’s a little disappointing. Overall everything about the game is disappointing the action, the menus, the graphics, the controls. I wish I had something positive to say…the cut scenes are pretty good!     everything looked fine in the game, even I was ok with the change in batman's face, suit and everything but 30 FPS on 9 gen consoles is a deal breaker.

Hope you like grinding because that is what you spend a majority of your time doing. Traveling around is only fun for 1 character. Robins travel ability is a complete joke. Cut scenes and dialogue are NBA 2k level bad. I was shocked at how bad they were. The good side is I haveIt’s better if you’re playing with a friend. If you take the time you realise how many conbos are available to you, hitting timed strikes plays unique animations and builds faster momentum, and depending on how many times strikes you hit, if you do a heavy attack itll play unique heavy animations while doing how many hits you built up. For example if you hit 3 timed strikes then a heavy, you'll do a flurry of 3 heavy attacks to follow up.
    Graphics were desirable and voice acting was up to par, vehicle handling is an improvement to the batmobile. Traversal could be better but that's only referring to the abilities, running from rooftop to rooftop is incredibly fun and makes you feel like a superhero. Music was good, skims are amazing and multiplayer is very fun.
    While this game has its useless I loved my 1st and 2md playthrough, people are overly harsh on the game and I recommend people form there own opinion instead of writing the game off.    … Expand

The last area that is the cherry on top of annoyances is around suits. For whatever drum reason you cant customize the transmog or whatever the hell they are called.

    In a nutshell, I think the big reason this game feels so unrefined is because instead of focusing on a few key experiences that looked good and relied on strong storytelling, they tried to do far too many different things without enough intentional, storytelling or experience design. This leads to the game feeling like there’s so many things going on and you don’t have a clear understanding what to do without reading all of the print, in the different areas of the UI. A video game should not rely on you reading a bunch of **** in order to know what to do. The experience in the game itself should guide you. Overall, if you’re looking to distract yourself until 2023, I would play this game if you can buy it on sale. But if you can hold out waiting a couple months, I think the next best game to play will be Harry Potter or Forespoken for open world rpg fun.    … Expand

    Combat is really fun, story is great & CoOp is really fun. Heroic Assault is a really fun mode as well. Definitely worth a playthrough.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I had high hopes for this game. I'm glad I didn't pay full price. Definitely not worth $60. So where to start:

    1. The game is an obvious cash grab. WB threw together a game and slapped batman on it for a quick sale. Without the batman label this would have been just a mediocre game no one would have bothered playing.

    2. Framerate drops on console is unacceptable several fights in the game my framerate would crash. Would be a still frame for a good second.

    3. Obvious woke agenda in the game. The knights discuss attending pride parades and a pride flag is hung in the Belfry. If you know anything about Red Hood he wouldn't give a crap about pride events but is fully on board with the idea. Side events with the watch had very few characters with dialogue but one character was a lesbian and she made sure to point that out. During a murder investigation you come across a person labeled as housless persons instead of homeless. Seems innocent enough until you remember the woke are trying to change the nomenclature from homeless to houseless persons. Typically none of this stuff would bother me but at this point they are just force feeding us this stuff the past few years.

    4. Combat is very repetitive with no ability to counter like in the Arkham trilogy. Even the momentum abilities were boring and didn't work right half the time. Controls are not very fluid easy to get stuck on random items. Didn't matter how strong your gear was when it came to "tank" enemies it always felt like they were a massive punching bag that took forever to defeat.

    What I did like about it was hearing everyone's individual stories including Red Hood. Red Hood is one of those characters that make small appearances here and there but they never go into his story and he has a damn good story. Also liked how they treated Alfred as the patriarch of the bat family in my opinion he doesn't get enough recognition as more than a mere butler. Missed out on an opportunity to introduce Damien Wayne into the fold; would have liked the idea of him being Robin over Tim Drake.

    Overall I love Batman and was excited about the game. I pushed through it because I kept thinking things would get better. Wish Rocksteady were the ones that developed this game. Had great potential. No clue is Suicide Squad Kill The Justice League is going to be a continuation of this universe but if it is Inhope they learned a valuable lesson. If you want to play this game wait for a good sale and pick it up.    … Expand

Nightwing is a lot more nimble/agile and will be fun for those wishing to button mash and bounce around the screen. Robin is somewhere in the middle, but uses technology and teleporting to get around. Red Hood is the character that I think will leave some hoping for more. His 3PS style of combat doesn’t work as well as I had hoped.

    The Co-Op horde mode Heroic Assault is the place that has helped me most in this game. The only problem is, it’s very hit/miss on when you can get a full party. It’s a 30 floor tiered challenge that, while possible in single player, is much more fun with a full squad. Quick match will put you at level 1-7 fairly often. To get someone to join you once you get to round 15+ is sometimes difficult.    … Expand

    A great game! All the knights feel distinct and have their own playstyle. I liked the customization and the fact that the cutscenes and villain interactions have character-specific dialogue. Combat is fun if you take time to learn how it works. Do NOT expect arkham-style combat because you are not going to have a good time with this if you try to force that combat onto this game. The only thing I wouldn’t enjoy so much is puzzle stuff because when I play a game like this it’s for the combat. Mostly people said the game had too much combat which is not a problem for me.     After playing Gotham Knights, I couldn’t shake the feeling that a lot of it had the air of an Arkham-verse fan game. While there is something there, you can almost reach out and touch the design-by-committee elements and witness the souls of some of the developers leaving their bodies. If you’re looking for another “Open World: The Game,” this one has you covered.

    Gotham Knights should not be confused as a sequel to the excellent Batman: Arkham Knight. Instead this Spin-Off explores a new and interesting story about the death of Gotham’s protector and falls victim to some of modern gaming’s worst trends. The crafting system feels unsubstantial and while the four different playable characters are all different and interesting, it feels like substantial abilities of the prior games were taken away and locked behind different characters, rather than each member of the bat family bringing something new to the table. Despite its shortcomings and missteps, we found “Gotham Knights” to be very fun to play, when focusing on the story over the repetitive open world activities and the multiplayer is an excellent fit for both the story and style of game.

    Gotham Knights takes the concept of inconsequential open world busywork to a ludicrous extreme, exquisitely culminating years of creative laziness in the genre. Nothing can adequately convey how monotonous, how unimaginative, how fucking banal this thing is. It manages to be offensive in its structural mediocrity, and that’s before we consider its enervative combat, inadequate controls, and threadbare world. Wearing the flayed skin of a live service and managing to be worse than any one of them, this sorry mockery of the Arkham series will rightly be forgotten in a year’s time - sooner if we’re lucky.
