    F1 25 launches off the line with the first drastic shake-up of the core ‘My Team’ career mode since it was introduced in F1 2020, alongside a conclusion for the story mode that began as a short prologue way back in F1 2019 (and became a mode of its own in F1 2021). The driver career mode makes little attempt to differentiate itself from its debut in F1 24 but, when combined, F1 25 is a far broader and better package than last year’s installment. There are still several areas where it hovers frustratingly short of its full potential – and I’ll never be able to get behind its fascination with clothing and emotes over meaningful classic F1 cars and content – but it’s comfortably the strongest the series has been since the fan favourite F1 2020.

    I’m encouraged by the work that has gone in to improve and launch My Team 2.0, but I can’t help but feel short-changed with too many customized options being locked behind a paywall. That being said, I can see myself putting a lot more hours into F1 25, exploring the different outcomes in Braking Point 3 and delving into a long-term save in My Team.

    It's clear that EA and Codemasters have focused on making a different game. Will it satisfy the core fan base? Probably, though perhaps not 100%. It's also worth asking whether the developers, with small changes, aren't beginning to open up their horizons to a new, more casual audience, one that doesn't want to spend so much time on specific car configurations and simply enjoys the category and the occasional race in a realistic setting. And if so, would that be so bad?

    As is often the case with the F1 license stamped by EA and Codemasters, the installments follow one another but are not really similar in content. Because this year, Breaking Point is back and the next F1 film are highlighted to revive the story-driven interest of the saga. Good one-off contributions, even if for the long term, we will rather remember the Career mode which goes a little further than previous years. Even if it does not really renew its gameplay and its graphics, F1 25 remains solid for an official simulation and accessible for neophytes.

    F1 25 is a quite small upgrade over F1 24, but the presence of Braking Point 3, content from the F1 movie and improved career options ensure more unique race experiences, especially for solo players who want to do a full immersion of the Formula 1 experience.

    F1 25 hits all the same notes as F1 24, but it isn’t just a reskin; it is a stylish upgrade that will punish you at a moment's notice if you get out of line. You may have dreams of becoming Max Verstappen, but it will quickly turn you into Lance Stroll.

    F1 25 races ahead with stunning visuals, ultra-realistic Lidar-mapped tracks, and a revamped My Team Career mode rich in management depth. While inconsistent AI and questionable driver ratings hold it back, the refined driving model and broad content - spanning Braking Point 3 to F1 World - make it a well-rounded package for both casual fans and dedicated sim racers, assuming you're always online.

    As with every annual game series, the question arises with F1 25 as to whether the new acquisition is worthwhile. Sure, we have the new licenses, which is enough for some. For others, Braking Point is an incentive. The fact is that F1 25 is a very good racing game in its own right, offering the joy of virtual driving. There are many modes and options, a high level of flexibility, and all in all, it's an excellent representation of racing.

Minor frustrations like repeated engineer messages and a sense of annual iteration prevent it from scoring higher, but overall it delivers a polished and engaging motorsport simulation.
