    Really good campaign but absolutly awful multiplayer. The maps are terrible and the whole game punishes an aggressive fast playstyle with even more benefit given to a camping playstyle. Most disappointing game of the year for me.

    Multiplayer:

    TTK is way too fast, not enough time to react, ADS time is very slow, movement feels laggy and slow as if I’m pulling something behind me, maps are way too big and coupled with an extremely short TTK it encourages camping and punishes running and gunning. UI is a mess and hard to navigate, spawns are terrible I can re-spawn a few feet from where I last died and be at risk of spawn trapping, attachment unlock system is silly and shouldn’t have been changed, Orion mastery came grind is too long (51 weapons minimum), perk system is another feature that shouldn’t have been changed from what most players are accustomed to. Missing Hardcore modes, Barracks, Combat Record, Calling Card Challenges and Emblems. No option to disable crossplay besides changing XBox Privacy Settings.

    Feels like a half-finished and rushed game, not worth the full price (£70 cross-gen / £100 vault). Has been out just over a week and I already feel like quitting.    … Expand

    Game is far from competitive game. Most of playing your kills or death means how lucky you was, not showing your skills.

    worst COD ever played. It's a pain to play against PC players. Cross play should be removed or add a setting to be able to play against console players only.

    This is the lowest score that I have given for a Modern Warfare title and I am truly surprised by the state and design of the game. While 2019 became an instant classic making most, like myself, excited about Call Of Duty and about the sequel, this disappoints. While 2019 became an instant classic making most, like myself, excited about Call Of Duty and about the sequel, this disappoints. Not because it didn’t live up to the hype, but because it boldly proclaims it does not care about fan feedback or the critical acclaim of the previous game. Multiplayer, they redid the unlock system for gun customization into previously established disliked model. For the perk system, instead of keeping it to what people liked and instead of refining it, they made it the worst version yet, by making it timed. Hardcore, a staple of Call Of Duty was not in at launch with Tier 1 being a watered down version of the well liked Hardcore series. The map design is unfortunate and while I could go on, the point of this is while they figured out how to make a great game, they used that knowledge to go backwards and that’s very disappointing.

    Edit: I lowered it to the lowest possible score. The reason It lost the the last 2 points was no hardcore at launch and what did launch afterwards, Tier 1, is not hardcore. Health is significantly increased and notable Hardcore favourite features are no more. This game could have found easy success in minimal refinements from the near perfect MW19 but instead it boldly went the opposite direction and proudly displayed the middle finger to long time fans of the series and fans of the successful Modern Warfare reboot.    … Expand

If you TRULY believe this game which is clearly broken and missing of content deserves a perfect score, I suggest you open up your game library outside of the FPS genre for a change. This game feels like in every single capacity, has taken several steps backwards. The main campaign is as generic as they come. It very much feels like the plot to this game was written in an hour. Just did NOT feel memorable at all even though it pretends to be this massive epic that it simply is not. The villain is throw away and forgettable. Everyone in the game in regards to character just feel all the same. Generic military archetypes spitting out stereotype military jargon 24/7. If I heard the word “ROG” one more time, I’ll scream. There are missions in this game that are so frustrating and annoying that I almost quit playing. There are some levels I completed in under 7 minutes and I wasn’t trying that hard to beat it. Feels VERY disjointed at times and so I can never get behind the narrative they are trying to tell. Just feels like an empty campaign that simply serves as a trailer for a better game down the road. The multiplayer is border-lining on being completely broken. My character model, title cards and emblem has not saved since I bought the game. The forcing of players to play cross play with PC is inexcusable, as the PS5 has the ability to switch this off day one. The menus for this game looks like they somehow thought people would be playing this game on a touch screen and are all over the place, making navigating through the game a test in mental endurance. And the 10 maps….yes……the whole TEN maps at launch are as boring and forgettable as I’ve ever seen. Outside of the cutscenes, the graphics are Good…Not Great. In multiplayer, it at times looks like they have even taken a step backwards. I am playing it on a Series-X and the multiplayer’s graphics are nothing special and are far away from what could ever be called, “next gen”. Even the voice acting in the multiplayer sounds like the lines are being read from someone sitting on the toilet and don’t evoke a fraction of a fraction of the heart and soul that the original MW2 had in spades. The weapon progression that requires you to use other guns just to unlock other attachments for the gun you really want to use is absolutely mind boggling. Who in God’s name WANTS to spend hours using a gun you’re not good or simply do not want to use to get to an attachment or gun you actually want to use???? All in all this feels like an absolute misfire from Activision. I can’t be the only one who just feels like Modern Warfare 2019 and this game are just……Missing the IT factor that the original games had. The little things. The charm, heart and soul those games just seem to have. This game just feels like a hollowed, empty shell and a rather poorly constructed generic one at that.… Expand

    2 weeks in - games unplayble. Cant find many xbox only games. Playing with pc players is pointles - games infested with hacks, aimbots etc. So am giving it a miss and wont be buying anymore cods. This was my first cod after 10 years, was fun while it lasted.

    Watch the replays - You will see all sorts of wierd stuff.

    With insanely short TTK, crazy long sprint to fire time and no classic minimap, this game is clearly designed to kill rushing and encourage camping.
    Explosive damage as well as flash grenades are also way too powerful.
    All of this results in a VERY frustrating multiplayer experience for anyone who actually like COD gameplay.

I was very disappointed with the graphics as well, you expect next gen and what you get is basically a little upgraded version of the xbox one. Also crappy multiplayer map design case in point the highway in Mexico. You want to see a true example of next gen look at Ratchet and Clank a rift apart or Spider man miles morales or even Demon Souls all true next gen that shows what the Ps5 and Xbox series x are capable of even though those are all ps5 games. The user interface on this game is by far the worst I’ve seen outside of Gotham Knights. The campaign in this game has to be the worst out of all the call of duty’s all you need for an example is the mission trying to get to the church. The cutscenes are grainy and sometimes it looks very good but mostly bad. I had high expectations for this game and thats on me especially the state gaming is in right now, game launches and its wait for the patch. Good games are very far between while great games are now once every couple of years.     I am just rating the campaign. Very below average. Same military tropes American media always push. Bad white male US military people are stopped by a small group of globally diverse people at the very last second. I would say that half the missions were pretty fun and engaging and the other half were insanely bad. This campaign is the worst COD campaign I have ever played.     The campaign was very great like it was one of best COD campaigns I ever played but the multiplayer looks terrible it has bugs and again most of maps are boring and trash and this game had a bad perk system attachments are more complicated too many cod players don't like it

    Campaign is great 10/10. Don't know about the multiplayer since i haven't played it, but as for the campaign its a solid 10/10 for me. Great story, great missions, great graphics, great weapons etc etc.

    Campaign is one of the best ever in the series. Looks great and I really was like like the black ops missions compared to giant exploding blockbuster fare we’ve gotten lately. Online is what it is, though the new gun unlock system is awful.

    Honestly I didn't get my hopes up for this therefore wasn't disappointed. Yes it's different but it's too different and in a way feels a massive step back. It's slow? Unbalanced. The maps are pretty poor. The file size is ridiculous. The graphics aren't great for next gen. The menu layout isn't great either. Maybe but haven't their record they can improve it but I doubt it.

    Probably my favorite COD game since black ops 1 I really like the game. Only things I don’t like is there aren’t enough launch maps, the main menu can be a bit buggy(which I’m sure they’ll fix), and the time to kill is a touch to fast. Other than that, I am really enjoying the game

    As for the multiplayer? It's par for the course. Nothing is truly different. There are such small-scale changes to things like the gunsmith and perk systems with mixed results. The COD experience is still there and usually, it's fun, even if the 6v6 maps aren't all that great to start (I have a few favorites and everything else is just... there). I expect more variety and at least some quality with a regular rotation of new content (maps) coming once the Battle Pass system kicks off a couple short weeks after the game's launch.

    I would like to see COD deliver something new that can be a cornerstone for the franchise. Maybe that's a phenomenal campaign experience that continues beyond the core campaign (which they sort of do but it doesn't get the attention it should if the emphasis was there) but really, multiplayer is the calling card for COD and we should see something that really hooks us after the millionth COD release that makes it a 12-month must-play for me and my friends. I hope to see some innovation here with Microsoft likely acquiring Activision soon.    … Expand

    I love this MW2 2022, the campaign is awesome and the multiplayer is a blast to play. I played cod Coldwar and that's also a decent game however cod mw is my favorite of all the cod games.

    Single player: full of bugs. Had to replay 2 missions all over again because the scripting broke near the end and I was unable to progress. At one point I was able to see all the lights in the level through the walls.     Multiplayer: also full of bugs! When I play, I keep everyone muted but my own party. But the game likes to randomly mute my party and unmute everyone else. Custom loadouts randomly change between matches. Sometimes prices will show up above the weapons when making a loadout, which doesn't make sense at all because there are no modes currently in the game where weapons have a price. Challenge tracking sometimes works, sometimes doesn't. In the pregame lobby, everyone appears as the same character and level 1, instead of the actual skin and level. Random crashes.

    Bugs aside, it's been a pretty mediocre launch. No hardcore. No gun game. No gunfight. There goes my 3 favorite things from Modern Warfare 1. Weapon progression is convoluted. SBMM swings you between super easy matches and ones where you get stomped. Can't turn off crossplay. The border crossing map is TERRIBLE    … Expand

Crossplay means full games in every category. Guns are honed to perfection with a new tuning mechanism that becomes aBest COD since the original IW MW2 without question. The review bombing is by players who would prefer a flat map with zero obstacles where they can line up in front of each other and shoot ~ thos game is perfected to reward tactical, smart gameplay by methodical players. Crossplay means full games in every category. Guns are honed to perfection with a new tuning mechanism that becomes a game within the game as you perfect your weapon to suit different playstyles. There are abundant resources to proceed swiftly and methodically from zone to zone, and running around without thinking your loadout through and getting familiar with it will lead to swift and repeated operator death. The tier one playlist admirably replaces the hardcore list in past games, and every mode has incredibly well designed maps that appeal to every playstyle. I'm not even interested in another FPS. Battlefield is rendered obsolete. No other game offers this level of refinement and pure gunporn for the discerning FPS fan. Each weapon feels like something of my own. And the attachments on offer are abundant and intriguing to experiment with.

    DMZ mode is a class all its own. An open world city where you'll get to experience being in a truly hostile environment that will push you and your squad to the limits as you race against a timer to complete onjectives and safely exfiltrate, or lose all the booty you collect.

    Easy 10 here. Ignore the entitled kids gagging for a homegenous lifeless run and gun mess. This isn't Unreal Tournament. It's a tactical, thoroughly designed homage to FP gun combat in fantastic settings.

    Add a day/night cycle to DMZ and the appropriate gear and this thing is compeltely unchained.    … Expand

    The graphics are truly next-gen, the campaign is engaging, multiplayer feels better than the past games (better than BO4 - Vanguard), all of the new modes are creative, and The new system for leveling up guns is rather engaging.

    Z bolączek, zdecydowanie problemy techniczne, przełączenie na niewybraną sekcję menu, czasami nie można uaktywnić rusznikarza broni. Generalnie znając serię od wielu lat, tutaj nie ma poprawy. Gra    Bardzo dobrze przygotowana seria MW2. Brakuje nieco klimaty w kampanii, niemniej przyjemnie i efektowanie można się pobawić. Znacznie poprawiono oprawę audio-wizualną, z naciskiem na dźwięk.

The graphics and framerate in multiplayer mode are good too but definitely not "next-gen" for the Series X.

    However, the campaign mode is very good and the graphics are awesome given that the game runs at 120 fps. Campaign missions are packed full of action and tactics, the story is good, etc. All in all I recommend this game for anyone who enjoys playing Call of Duty. 8 is a fair score to me, given the lack of multiplayer maps at launch and the short solo campaign.    … Expand

It has that good COD campaign feel to it, the gameplay mechanics and graphics along with the creative design and strong character development are the highlights of this package. I'm also left with dislike about some mission design choices that, given a lot of consideration I decided they were not that big of a deal to lower the score.

    I'm always up for the ride when it comes to a new COD campaign. They are short, action-packed experiences that I can always come back to enjoy. This experience was different. I have mixed feelings about this game.

    The game crashed several times during (10+) my both playthroughs on regular and veteran, returning to the Xbox home. Some animations get broken, like when an enemy soldier is supposed to transition from walking to running. They would freeze in position and slide their way around. Your teammates' weapons might disappear from their hands from time to time, looking really weird like they are fighting with imaginary weapons. The checkpoint system is unforgiving, but depends on the missions. They are stretched too few, forcing you into some boring repetition of the same gunfights over and over on higher difficulties. The game might create a checkpoint right next to a fully armored badass enemy carrying a semi-auto auto shotgun that would destroy you right after you respawn. There are many bugs that like I've never seen on a COD campaign, probably because I'm playing on launch date.

    I love the new focus on strong characters!!! They started that in MW 2019, but now every character has deep layers into them and a strong focus on their personalities. I love that they added simple dialog interactions with your teammates. That is built on top of the classic COD chit-chat that I so love. It is one of the most immersive features. The new missions are a blast! But I found some problems with some:
    KILL OR CAPTURE: The mission design structure is brilliant in general, I loved it, BUT holding heavily armored attacks from an enemy battalion with a squad size INSIDE the downed chopper strength is plain crazy.  There is no way trained soldiers would choose to "make a stand" there. AQ forces are equipped with modern gear and mechanized transports. The characters made comments about how Hassan turned AQ into an army. But this modern army charged head-on WW1 style into professional shooters that gun them down... 3 times!!!. I know COD campaigns are crazy, but that was too dumb to feel even real. Did they give them night vision and forgot to equip them with brains?

    BORDERLINE is amazing, feels like a throwback to BF hardline.
    Other missions like CARTEL PROTECTION + CLOSE AIR + HARDPOINT + SIN NOMBRE + DARK WATERS feel like classic MW. They are a total blast to play. GHOST TEAM and COUNTDOWN are great too.

    VIOLENCE AND TIMING is crazy and bizarre, the whole thing feels like a cheap knockoff of the uncharted 4 car chase. But the gameplay mechanics do not suit this type of mission design, leading to some awkward controls and tons of missed jumps that lead to boring repetitions on veteran. Even if you get it right and jump from car to car like a frog, the whole situation is more action comedy than the serious story that intends to tell. But it's not the worst mission of the package.

    ALONE is the worst mission of the game and the worst mission of the entire COD franchise. I love that they want to make changes to the formula, so it looks like it's evolving, but there are so many directions they could have taken that I curse the day they chose this one. I could write 10 pages about the things I find wrong here. But just one would do. Ghosts starts giving Soap basic survival tips over the radio like the guy is FNG, but they already stated they go way back, this is not some new guy it's a Tier one operator that needs to go to the stealth refresher course. To make tools to Open doors. It's the most boring, repetitive, and dumb mission ever.     … Expand

    Don't listen to all the salty boys, it's a solid CoD experience, you could hold back on buying it a full price but it's still a great game

    Downgrade from MW19 in realism and sound, why bring quick scoping back ? The perk system is terrible, you earn perks in game. The UI is clunky and is a huge step back from previous Call Of Duty games.

    The campaign of this game is really good with amazing missions and amazing graphics...

    And why was this necessary to stick a bomb onto the dead enemy just to throw both back into the car? Just spitefulness.
    Bad water effects on ship. Shifting containers annoying.
    No boots on the ground models, so cheated with slow running animation.
    Running toooo slow on stealth mission.
    Dead end on camera swapping mission.

    Multiplayer:
    Complicated weapon unlock system. No saveable custom gunsmithy at release (again).
    Grinded sniper to max level, still didnt unlock thermo scope as expected (was so in MW1).    … Expand

    Pretty decent game at least better than vanguard, the campaign is good, dialogue did very well but the plot is dogwater never like it in my opinion, and multiplayer feels like minor upgrade of mw 2019. In summary gg.

    Due to Activision Blizzard's choice in supporting the grooming and sexualizing of kids, I will not be recommending, playing, or promoting this game, and future titles and other games under AB down the road until they apologize. And I mean a REAL apology, and not a Bud Light apology (I don't drink by the way, but I am aware of all of the current news on their crap).

    Maybe not as fun (for me) as Black Ops Cold War, my favourite of the recent COD Franchise. But still a tight, fun shooter.
    Featuring multiple game modes across a dozen or so different maps & the promise of many more to come, this looks like a good year again for COD fans.

    Amazing cinematography. But some sections drag on FOREVER and the armored enemies were stupid enough to compell me to write this review. Nothing says immersive realism like a barrage of armored enemies who can absorb an entire magazine and not even slow down. Do they need the same double headshot to kill you in return? Nah of course not, that wouldn't be realistic....

We have paid the same amount for the game as Playstation gamers, yet they have the crossplay option. I have been advised that the crossplay option is an exclusive for Playstation. Exclusive!!! Crossplay is a basic game option!! What next? No aim assist or crosshair for Xbox players?
    The game is full of PC cheaters using wallhack & aimbot.
    My advice for Xbox players is not to bother with this game unless the crossplay option is added & better maps are updated.    … Expand

    - The TTK too fast (favorize the campers with hardscope) and an SBMM that shouldn't exist in quick play (yes for the Ranked mod that it doesn't have).
    - The footsteps are so badly done that we have to stop to find out where the enemies are coming from (favorize campers too).
    - The looter asset that works when he feels like it, as you have 3 magazines when you start up, you find yourself running out of ammunition too quickly. I don't think the military just goes with 3 magazines on the battlefield.
    - The fact that the kills are so random sometimes we kill in 2 bullets and other times in 6.
    - Servers lagging to death for a publisher that weighs 69 billion dollars is a shame i hope Microsoft buy Activision and make COD on Azur Servers.
    - Option to remove the funking allies blue points; we don't shoot on ennemy when the blue point is on him.
    - Putting the same key to zoom, change aiming mod and hold your breath is nonsense because under pressure you can very quickly change aiming mod without wanting to.
    - Why force crossplay on xbox when playstation can remove it.
    - Why penetrating bullets don't go through shields I'm tired of ninja turtles with their shields in their backs to avoid getting shot in the back and the same for incapacitating bullets don't stop mad people with knife or handgun.
    - Why can't you change keyboard keys on xbox? It's the same version of the game as on PC.
    - Removing the cancel slide may be a good thing, but replacing it with a single slide which penalizes mobility and a forward jump which is so ridiculous.
    - When is there a filter to select only the maps that interest me rather than constantly leaving the lobby and relaunching it hoping to find my favorites, yet it's not very hard to do I think.
    And so many problems...

    I hope Infinity ward listen gamers and patch this MWII quickly.    … Expand

    Exciting game, reminded me of the time the old MW2 went out. I enjoyed a lot the campaign: felt thrilled even if, as usual, the plot is basic. Top graphics, Top sounds, and fun.
    The multiplayer is satisfying, i just don't like this overall Modern Warfare HUB pushing you to other MW games or giving me 20gb upgrades for Warfare every now and then. But the vote its for the game itself.

    While the yearly Call of Duty is experience still remains fun, retreading old ground yet again is beginning to give off the feeling that there’s nowhere else to go for the franchise right now. I had fun playing Modern Warfare II, and those looking for solid shooting action will enjoy it, but I’d liked to see something new from the series going forward. Warzone 2.0 feels far fresher and more enjoyable to me, and is where I’ll be spending my time with COD until then.

    Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, not to be confused with the sequel to Call of Duty 4, Modern Warfare 2 is a great package. The roughly 8-hour campaign throws more twists and turns at the players than a day at an amusement park. It was a joy to not have to clear one corridor of enemies after another for the entirety of its run. Not to mention the stellar graphics on the campaign mode, combine all that with what is arguably the best Call of Duty multiplayer experience we have had in years, and you end up with a recipe for success that Infinity Ward is all too familiar with cooking up.
