It's like a liberal woke c¹nt festpolooza of "let's go Brian". I felt like I was being forced to get the Covid vaccine in muh eyeballs. The Moderna, Pfizer, and Johnson and Johnson back to back jabs plus the booster. Like the real thing, it didn't work but just kill the masses. It stole more hopes and dreams than the dominion machines during the 2020 elections. The dead did more during the election than did for crap game. I felt like this was a bad DLC for L4D2. This game some how graphicly digressed from its decade old predecessor. The zombies have more in common with the Micheal Jackson video Thriller than the original games. I felt like I was playing with a limp noodle BLM supporter . Save this game for when your suicidal because it might make you realize your life's not so bad after all.

Being as this is a spiritual successor to Left 4 Dead, the fact that they left out split screen, which is basically the only way I played Left 4 Dead, has ruined this before I even played it. Then they took progression away for single player. If you didn't want people to play solo or with friends at home why did you not make it online only.

They make game harder on purpose and nerf players.
"This PVE game is too easy and the players are having too much good time, so let's nerf players and their weapons and make zombies OP! "

This is what dev think and that they have done in the new November patch. Just like Blizzard, they try to teach players how to play game.

This has nothing on what LFD was and I can't even think of it as a spiritual successor. There is no coverage on this game for a good reason. The performance is often unacceptable, the gunplay overall has some extreme jank and strange pulling, the sense of objective overall is boring and unfulfilling

One of the most disappointing games I've ever played. It's not awful, and I don't regret playing it, but damn. For what's intended to be a spiritual L4D successor, it's like the devs aren't aware of what made the L4D games consistently fun and enjoyable.

Serious lack of tension. Just constantly fighting off mindless hordes of zombies. Like, nonstop. Special infected lack any personality and spawn way too frequently. The tension is taken out of the big bads when they spawn almost as frequently as regular zombies. Also, terribly lazy boss fights.

What makes games like this still somewhat 'horror' is the tension. You fight off the waves of zombies, and then there are a few minutes of eerie quiet until the next wave. B4B hardly has moments like this. It barely lets you off the hook. 95% of the time, you are holding RT and shooting zombies. There's a severe lack of tension. It feels more like a "boomer shooter" than an action-based horror game, in the worst way possible. That's not even mentioning this game's lackluster gunplay in the first place.

The game is, in almost every area, worse than the original L4D - never mind L4D 2. And I've confirmed this is not nostalgia talking, at least for me. I was so sure of this that I booted up L4D 1 and 2 for the first time in years and sure enough, it just feels... better. In almost every conceivable way. Notably the AI. Of both teammates and the zombies. It is somehow way worse in this 2021 release than it was in 2008, and everybody thought that AI was horrendous then!

If you want your L4D fix without playing L4D, this'll do just fine. But it's simply not the same.

I do appreciate how certain runs of the same level do feel & look a bit different thanks to the corruption card system. But I'd say about 75% of those corruption cards hinder the experience. Not in a challenging way, but in an annoying way. The ones that change things about the levels like time of day, fog, weather, and even removing power from certain areas are nice and are appreciated.

First and foremost the graphics are dated and comparable to left 4 dead 2, as sad as it sounds, and it seems all the good and core mechanics for left 4 dead 2 has been stripped leaving behind just the mess. Recruit was kind of fun with Randoms but was finished quickly, card decks on that difficulty are useless and meant for higher difficulty play throughs. Mid difficulty is still easy, but the difficulty scales unrealistically with nightmare mode. It is a joke. You have limited cosmetic options and nightmare mode has to be completed with each character one time to unlock a unique outfit rather than completing it once and getting a big reward. As of result completing nightmare provides no real benefit short term, but I still went for the challenge because why not make the most of this big new triple AAA i've been hearing on gamepass--was a big mistake. Enemies are bullet sponges, special infected spawns are crazy, and their health is incredibly high even for the 'squishes' while left 4 dead at least had one shot boomers and pretty weak spitters and hunters. Corruption cards are a joke, some people luck out and make it through nightmare by having good corruption cards based on RNG, on the other hand you can be like me and have acidic air, boss battles, hordes, and armored crushers all in on run making hours go to waste while other people, and Youtubers, make it through with limited problems due to RNG. Not only is difficulty on nightmare RNG, which is already a huge problem in any PVE game, some instances you are so early in the run you have no time to deck build with your cards and can only select or or two cards to use for the entire run. I tried to play solo but realized you cannot, all pay to acquire cards and cosmetics are attained either by grinding or $$$. regardless, playing things solo like in left 4 dead is impossible because solo mode handicaps a lot of objectives and does not allow you to get in our out of game achievements, cosmetics, or anything worth while, it is jus there for no logical reason. So I played online, had bots cause all of my real teammates left and got super far despite bots being braindead and standing around instead of reviving of freeing incapacitated people. They make up for it with laser accuracy and some other benefits the game gives them. Immediately got through the hard portions of the game no problem on nightmare, then halfway through mid game real life teammates joined and ruined everything like retards. alerting every flock of birds, sleeper hordes activated, team killed me once, and Doc refusing to team heal, it was pathetic, and they were PC players. I guess PC players are only good at PvP games crossplatofrm, the very second you play with them PvE you see how braindead they are with no mouse and keyboard leverage as they do every dumb thing possible. I made it further than ever with bots with thousands of copper, full health and low trauma, good ammo, etc. And for the first time ever got good corruption card RNG only for players who can join mid game ruin everything with no option for host to kick like left 4 dead. As I said they took every good thing from left 4 dead and removed it. Special infected have dozens of variations its impossible to keep up with which yuo are fighting as they all look the same, you literally have to study the subtle differences between them to know what is what, game has terrible latency overall and lag (my latency on Xbox says 24ms), guns reload and when you fire reload again as if they magically jammed (no jam feature in the game its a bug), guns shooting blank shots for no reason, AIs and enemies twitching and clipping through obstacles they should not be moving through. Beta has been out since late 2020 and after release is still a buggy mess that at times can ruin the game, like healing and cancelling heal for no reason when you desperately need health. How does halo infinite go from a mess to a jem within a year but this simple game whos template is a left 4 dead rip off seemingly make the game worse from a year since beta? No incentive to finish nightmare, no reason to play with bots who are good if you know what to do when single player is borderline useless, no point in grinding P2W cards or cosmetics, a game chat that is monitored constantly, and is so buggy you can be in party chat but can be heard in game so are force to mute in game chat which made me lose a run as I could not see what my team was saying to me... it is an overall joke. Done with the mess do not waste your time. And xbox, actually invest and pay out of pocket for quality games from quality devs, especially indies like psychonauts and the ascent, stop helping crap devs out with your platform who do not deserve it. As a spiritual successor for Left 4 Dead, Back 4 Blood is great to pick up with a few friends by your side, no matter on what platform they play - at least for a night or two. Although it´s gameplay is really fun besides some annoying bugs and horrid soloplay, the game fails to offer enough endgame-content to motivate much further than for it´s six to ten hour long campaign.

After turtle rocks massive failure that was evolve they decided to take another swing only this time they made sure to make the title similar to their most successful game to dupe as many people as possible into playing their game. The desperation can be seen in even in the title "back4blood" without that and the constant reminder of "hey remember us? we made left for dead! evolve? no no don't pay attention to that" this game would have been even more dead on arrival than it currently is. Its a game that has no confidence in its gameplay so it markets itself as a "l4d successor" to deter criticism.

I could go into detail about everything this game fails at but what's truly sad about back4blood is that you don't even need to do that to know why its a terrible game, you only need to ask the question "why would I play this over Left4Dead 2?" and the reality is that there is no reason because b4b is an imitation by design and therefore will always live in the shadow of its older brother.

B4B has cool survivors (although they're now called cleaners, which is somehow less interesting) and it has more of them. There's tons of stuff to unlock, and decks full of little gameplay modifiers to build and play, both fun ideas that play out well. It's all progress. Except...

There are two things, as of launch day, keeping this from being a great game (and it IS a good game, just not a great one). One is the staggering amount of onscreen nonsense at any given time. There's always goo and blood and explosions and I've literally never spent so much time playing any game having to wonder what the heck was going on, simply because the game blasts you with visual clutter every ten to twenty seconds. It's not enjoyable. It just makes a hectic game needlessly confusing. The other problem is the endless rain of special infected (now called ridden, another boring choice in naming). Encountering the specials in L4D games was always a thrill, because it didn't happen all the time, and when it did you had to completely change your style of play to deal with them. In B4B, they never stop. There's a special ridden showing up every ten seconds, most of the time. There's nothing special about it, and it serves to undermine SO MUCH of the progress they made in terms of the level structure being more interesting. Two steps away from Boring, followed by one giant step back towards it.

B4B could patched into being a much better game, but whether or not that happens depends on a lot of things we simply don't know yet. As of right now, I'd say, yes, definitely give it a try on Game Pass, but I would be pretty sad if I'd actually paid $60 for this title. In the state it's in right now, I have trouble imagining playing this game for 600+ hours, like I did L4D2.

Back 4 Blood is loads of fun no matter which mode you play. The game supports cross platform (and cross gen) play for both multiplayer and co-op modes. The campaign is easily the best part of the game, but the multiplayer mode is a good companion mode. So long as you don’t mind that the game is always online and that there isn’t much of a single player mode at the moment, the game is quite good. I’m not much of a fan of online multiplayer shooters, but this type of game with loads of replay value is what I look for whenever I do play one. Like I said at the start, I don’t know how the game compares to Left 4 Dead, but that really shouldn’t matter much since Back 4 Blood is its own game, and it’s a lot of fun.

Back 4 Blood isn't perfect by any means, but it's absolutely the closest we've gotten to a new Left 4 Dead game in the years since Left 4 Dead 2. Because of this, it's hard not to have fun with B4B, even if it doesn't always feel inventive and has some notable drawbacks. Despite some qualms, if you're hungry for a new co-op shooter to jump into with some friends, Back 4 Blood has more than enough meat on the bone to keep you entertained for quite some time.

Back 4 Blood is a gory party that begins as soon as you start the first level and never decreases in intensity. It still has some of the Left 4 Dead's essence, but it's a completely different game and the changes suit it wonderfully.
