Astor: Blade of the Monolith is well worth a play. It isn’t often I finish a game and then go straight back into New Game +, but this is one that will tempt you. There are annoyances, but the action and the story are both good enough to ensure this is a recommendation.

I came into Astor: Blade of the Monolith with all the hope and promise simply because it was NOT a souls game. I still love it for that, but as much as I enjoyed the bright and colorful vistas, the vivid and detailed graphics and the cute characters; I just can’t get past the clunky feeling of the combat. Late game weapons and abilities make things feel better but never perfect. Despite the combat and the forgettable story, I did have some fun in Astor: Blade of the Monolith at the end of the day; the cuteness of the characters won the day.

Astor: Blade of the Monolith is a game that has some great art direction, but needed some more time spent figuring out what its core tenets were beyond the well realised world.

Boasting an interesting storyline and superb dreamlike art direction, Astor: Blade of the Monolith is an action-adventure game that will particularly suit gamers new to video games or those fans of Zelda-like. A few technical issues, especially in combat, may mar the player's experience, but without making it insufferable. Overall, while Astor's experience is decent, there's still plenty of room for improvement. Let's hope C2 Game Studio fixes these problems with its next production.
