Dec 13, 2023Yu Suzuki hasn’t lost his touch. Air Twister is clearly Space Harrier, but with a very modern taste for spectacle. For one or two playthroughs it’s a shoot ’em up Fantasia, just as much a treat for the ears as the eyes. The thing is, Air Twister wants to be more than that. It wants to be your go-to shooter for much longer, with more modes and skill trees than it could possibly need.

Nov 20, 2023Air Twister is a fun and interesting modernisation of Space Harrier. The music by Valensia although at first seemed out of place suits the 80’s vibe this game exudes with the bright colours and vibrancy. It maintains the tricky increasing gaming difficulty of the older games and throws in some rogue-lite elements to level the playing field and help add some replay value to the game.

Nov 15, 2023The biggest crime Air Twister commits is that there just isn’t enough interesting stuff here. The stages feel boilerplate for the most part and it really never ramps up the difficulty until almost halfway through the game. With it being so short, this really drags down the experience and makes grinding out the stars for more powers feel tedious. I feel like with a few more modes or options this could have been a decent console outing, but instead it ends up feeling like a quick mobile port with little thought put into it.
