As an homage to the pint and click adventures of days past, hailing to the gameplay of Windows 3.1 era games. Without Escape wasn't as tense as I had hoped, but managed to keep the air a bit thick with random noises, and a few nicely interwoven video bits. On the Xbox One tho the game has a few issues, random crashes to the dashboard, missing saves, and broken puzzles that required me to go back and try again. The time I had uninterrupted with the game left me wanting a bit more. The picture the game painted made me want to keep going, but I was rarely shocked or awed. The puzzles didn't lend to hard a challenge, keeping progression from coming to a sudden halt. There was obviously care put into the arrangement and presentation of the story and made me feel like if I just pressed on I'd find that edge. Sadly it wasn't there. If you're new to point and clicks or sensitive to minor creepy things, this game will drive it home for you! Long time horror fans will find the game lacking a bit. Overall the experience was fun despite the issues the port faces. Expand

Without Escape is a point and click horror title that puts you home alone while your parents are out of town. It is tribute to, and reminds you of those old school PC games with the still image backgrounds, but it also works in some really cool video moments. I think they do a really amazing job at delivering that home alone feel.with creepy noises while you hunt for clues. It does this without any jump scares a rarity in horror games lately. The images look really nice, so it isn't hard to point out things you need to click on, plus the cursor turns into a spyglass when something is clickable. Even if this wasn't the case, everything is so well drawn you'd be able to distinguish things any ways. Warning though that might gross you out at certain moments later game. As there is some gore in "Without Escape"
The puzzles aren't overly difficult, but they also don't hold your hand. You will find yourself backtracking through rooms trying to find what you do next, and that is good. I enjoy a challenge, and it adds to the amount of time you play the game. It can be beat in a hour if you know what your doing, but first play through will take you longer than that if you aren't looking anything up online. There are also multiple endings, but it doesn't require playing the whole game over you can use save states. "If they work" I had a issue with saves not working for me, and having to repeat a lot of things. I also had a issue with getting kicked to Dashboard. If it wasn't for that I would have gave this game a higher score. I really enjoyed my time with it, but right now has a few issues which I'm sure will get updated soon.
I really think "Without Escape" is worth your time though especially at it's price. There isn't a lot better horror experiences better than this at under the 5 dollar price point. It is also great for the Achievement/Trophy hunters out there as well. it only has 12 , and you can get them all in under a hour. I didn't because of the game glitching out, I had to reload the game, and play the last parts over to get it. So Yes "Without Escape" isn't perfect it has several development or porting issues, but I have no doubt they are already probably working on those. They aren't game breaking either. It is still very much playable, and an enjoyable experience.

    Pros:
    Well drawn backgrounds, and video
Sounds and Music aid in the creepy feel
    Puzzles make you think
    Well written story

    Cons:
Save game doesn't always work correctly
Got kicked to Dashboard several times
Achievements glitched out had refresh game couple times

Overall: 6.8 Even with very fixable issues "Without Escape" is a pleasant way to spend a evening for fans of the horror genre.Even with frustrating bugs the enjoyment is there especially at such an affordable price tag. Horror fans and Achievement/Trophy hunters won't find much more entertainment under 5 dollars than "Without Escape".

I don't remember such a bad first-person quest in a long time. At the beginning of the 2000s, there were a lot of such quests. Yes, there were bad ones, but there were many more good and even good ones. Now there are apparently no good ones, normal ones too, since the genre is not popular, but once a year a bad quest comes out, like this.

The puzzles are primitive, the storytelling - well, you can complete the game in 5 minutes (!) if you know what you are doing. Do you know how I found out? There is an ending that can be obtained if you manage to get to a certain point in 5 minutes. All endings, except for the secret one, are full of tragedy and hopelessness, like in the game "Soma". The visual component is rough and primitive, the music is not bad and atmospheric, but it is difficult to enjoy it - the game is very short. I do not recommend. Glory to Ukraine!

While many might find a point and click adventure like this mundane and basic, it’s a widow into the past, showing how far gaming has come in such a short period of time. While some might find the length disappointing, it’s at least priced to match at just a few bucks. If you’re not a master at puzzle games, you might get an hour or so of gameplay out of it, but for most others, Without Escape will easily be beaten in a single sitting.

Without Escape: Console Edition on Xbox One fails to deliver a worthwhile experience for either keen point and clickers or horror enthusiasts. The only people who’d probably be happy to pay a few quid are Achievement hunters, due to the relatively easy 1000 Gamerscore. Everyone else should steer clear.

Without Escape has some great ideas and at times keeps you on your toes, but unfortunately doesn’t offer much in the way of excitement or thrill, at times feeling more like having a read through the family photo album.
