In Warparty I found the gameplay to be fun and challenging and at the same time the RTS formula has felt a little unfair despite not having that problem here. The real-time strategy genre isn’t my most favorite genre but I can enjoy and respect it. Thankfully when playing Warparty I got into a few sticky situations it always remained fun and challenging and most important of all it always felt doable and not overwhelming. I returned back to the game over and over and I’m glad I did because the content offered is substantial. Playing through this game felt rewarding because there’s plenty of variety present in each of the 3 factions and this means I never got bored or frustrated by the game. In terms of issues the game doesn’t have many and if you’re able to look past the few technical issues that occur from time to time then the problems become even less. At the end of the day then whilst this game won’t appeal to all I’m sure fans of the RTS genre will truly love Warparty because it gets the most important parts of a game of this ilk right and it offers a unique setting that is full of atmosphere. Thumbs up! Expand

Warparty is clearly derivative, both of older RTS games and mechanics and unit types — zombies and dino-warriors — but there is enough entertainment value to make it worth exploring, especially for fans of the genre with a soft spot for the classics. On console, controls will frustrate but not enough to entirely kill the experience. The timeless quality of RTS games still comes through, and Warparty manages to catch at least a bit of that magic.

At $25, Warparty is an absolute steal for any RTS fan. Considering you get three factions to use, three decently-sized campaigns, multiplayer, and a mode that lets you battle an AI player, you get what you pay for and then some.

When you’ve got triceratopses, raptors, zombies, archers, elemental beings and more in the same world, you know there’s decent variety. The Campaign could be great, but it suffers at the hands of an unforgiving difficulty and a wide-range of bugs that can ruin the experience entirely. Unless it receives a major patch, I’m afraid that Warparty on Xbox One is a party you don’t want an invite to.
